Re: [313] fanboy track ID

2001-07-11 Thread Dave Clark
That's arguable. Voiteck or TD5 is an excellent techno producer - he
played in Detroit at one stage. From what I heard it was rockin. Also
Tim Jackiw is pretty sweet. I haven't heard any Souther Outpost yet but
I'm sure it's good. And there are plenty of unknowns. Not to dismiss
HMC - he's got some good stuff. I caught a DJ set from him last year
when he toured with Voiteck - it was pretty good (pretty banging too).

While we're on the topic, didn't Claude Young live in Adelaide for some
years? When he played here last he had a reunion of sorts mid-set with
(Aussie) Groove Terminator.

Re: [313] fanboy track ID

2001-07-11 Thread Benn Glazier

What would be defined as Australian classic by HMC would be -
- Southern Cross EP (Juice) - features LSD, Body Mechanics
- 6AM (Undefined) - with 187 on the flip as already discusses
- Out Of Order (Juice) - early 90's Juice, with influences of Edge of
Motion and UR running rampant

- Phreakin (Dirty House) - the first Dirt record, as already discussed
- Life Support System (Juice) - the first Juice record in a lim. ed. 500
set which was later re-released on MusicMan

Admittedly his more recent stuff hasn't really done it for me.

RE: [313] fanboy track ID

2001-07-10 Thread Hugo Sweet
I just had a squiz through the latest The Face magazine (the one with
David Beckham of Manchester United fame on the cover).

It had a review of Green Velvet's La La Land in the singles reviews
section.  In typical Face fashion the review is completely meaningless;
something along the lines of Green Velvets a mad bastard, so don't mess with
him. Of course that doesn't mean that it's necessarily got beyond the promo
stage. I hate it when they publish a review months before the release date.

There was also a review of Crystal the latest single from New Order. Has
any one heard it? I'd read that the new album was going to be more
guitar-based.

There's also an article on Adelaide, Australia-based lable Dirty House
Records. They describe their sound as Derrick Carter and Jeff Mills getting
into a fight and then deciding to just get along (or something along those
lines). Any thoughts?

I was never that buzzed about it because it totally borrows that bass line
from Brandon Cook's (feat. Roxanne Shante) Sharp as a knife. from '88.

Would love to get the original 12 of Sharp... though. There should be the
instrumental on the B-side (?), without the thin baby-like vocals of
Roxanne:)

I've got a track by him that without being near my boxes I'm going to have

Hypnotic, jacking techno and house. It used to be hard to find his tracks in
the states (my experience) but it's getting easier as Australia is getting
better coverage and respect/recognition.

Subject: [313] fanboy track ID

Not like it's anything I'd ever spin, but I need to know.

Richie spun this track friday night in DC, and now I hear it's on the
Adam Beyer set on groovetech at 3 mins 30 seconds

I'm going down to la la land
I hope to see you see you soon in la la land

I want those little pills, ..., the thrills, ..., that kill a
 million brain cells. --catchy chorus

Now I need to know, who's gonna give me a ride to the aftershow
I hope i have enough change so i can make my brain rearrange.

 thnx :)
