Re: (313) Mitch Walcott - Titan
Selon Michael Bramwell [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I listened to this a couple of years ago when Mitch had it as a free download from his website, enjoyed it then and I am enjoying now. Dimitri those remixes are pretty good, like most of your music I have heard they would suit a nice extended 3 deck mix. Mike. Hello Mike and many thanks for the kind words ! Aaaah one who remember ! Titan has been at the origin of my friendship with Mitch and I'm very happy to release it today even on a 'weblabel' when I feel it desserves more... Anyway, important release for the Wildtek crew :-) Regarding remixes, you perfectly heard the way these ones was made. I've set up my DJ ring to let me play with two Technics + EFX + Ableton running a three virtual descks each one having 3 or 4 effects At end, I have 5 sources of original material and effects to rework this all live. Of course, for those who think 'he plays 5 tracks at the same time ?' NO, I switch between turntables and Live of course but it's very nice to have more than needed sources under hands, it let you quickly imagine and developp... My saturday technical moment... Have a nice weekend all ! peace Dimitri

How is the Petar Dundov CD? mt From: Phonopsia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org, Jason Donnelly [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [313] mitch walcott Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2002 11:16:45 -0500 I was one of maybe 10-15 people listening to him at the Underground stage bright and early one of those rainy mornings at DEMF. It's pure ambience (ie, no percussion or discernable tempo at all). I might even call it space music, if that means anything to you. I enjoy this kind of stuff, but I don't find a lot of commonality in it with other Detroit material. This is even less pronounced than Mills' ambient material, so I'd definitely recommend giving a listen before purchasing if possible. I think this would be great music to work/sleep to. I doubt that would be taken as an insult. When he performed, it was all coming from a laptop, controlled through an airbass controller that shapes the sound based on the proximity of your hand to the surface of the airbass. In that sense, this was all created live, as the shaping more-or-less *is* the song. I'm assuming he recorded the DEMF performance and is releasing that, rather than re-recording it anew. I imagine each time he performs this material it would take a different shape. The dilemma was naming the project about a planet or moon and have it all make sense. Europa was the perfect candidate. After doing a lot of research, I found that someday we might actually send a spacecraft that will penetrate the ice to hopefully discover a subsurface ocean. The possibility that there may be life on Europa fit very well with my last track on the disc, which was to move the listener from a very dismal place, to a place of beauty. I did not want to specifically name the spacecraft going to Europa. There are many different teams out there right now, each with their own project name and idea of functionality. So, I decided to be somewhat vague so that the listener could use his/her imagination. My goal is for people to listen to this project and come away with interesting imagery in their minds. -- Mitch Walcott thanks jason - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
