RE: (313) Kraftwerk: Concerts next year

2012-12-14 Thread 1-11
The sound at the Tate is meant to be rubbish.

I really enjoyed the Velodrome; granted, the sound wasn't the best, though,
but as long as RH is there, there is something magical about Kraftwerk for
me. They always put on a proper do.

4 tickets for Computer World. Lovely stuff.

Tate clearly doesn't have state-of-the-art admin which can match the
technocratic 'Gestalt' [pardon me for being poncy] of Kraftwerk.
Even so, there's little doubt that Kraftwerk would only appear at a venue
[nowadays] if the sound facilities were top notch.

Not so sure about that Ken, the event at Manchester Velodrome was pretty
poor.

I hyave to disagree about the staging of this kind of music. I went to a
minifestival night a few years back to hear Monolake, Ryoji Ikeda and Alva
Noto on the same night (Ultraminimalism). When sat half way up the slope
and centrally the sound was incredible and coupled with the magnificent
setting is all felt rather special.

I think ill try to get some tickets through unofficial channels once all
the 0s and 1s have settled.

Hey,

Did any of the UK peeps get tickets for the London Tate shows? From looking at
forums it seems the Tate didn't handle the demand very well and their system
crashed immediately. The web site said no in person sales and they were selling
tickets over the counter too

I can't go so didn't even bother but it seems like chaos, I hope this is not a

You not going Ken?

Id have been up for going if I was able to go...its a great room for
exhibitions, but it could have sound problems if not handled correctly and the
Tate have failed at the first hurdle so I hope its not a sign of things to come.

Nicholas Serota (Director of Tate) says it's not the first time the website has
crashed from over demand, so he must have known there would be the same
problem. So this leads me to think he doesn't care enough to sort out the
problems and in turn couldn't care about the shows them self's and the sound
bouncing around in that concrete room.

In a way I think that’s quite appealing, One of the things I like about dance

Not that it makes a huge difference but at MOMA they were playing one album
followed by a greatest hits selection.

It's just shocking how piss poorly Tate seem to have handled ticketing
especially in light of the total clustermess that was the MOMA on-sale. Don't

2012-12-13 Thread Odeluga, Ken
£60 does seem like too much, but I would have paid it, if I could have bought a
ticket quickly and efficiently.

And that's what really matters, I think; so wishing all who will be attending
an enjoyable time.

Id have been up for going if I was able to go...its a great room for
exhibitions, but it could have sound problems if not handled correctly and
the Tate have failed at the first hurdle so I hope its not a sign of things
 to come.

Nicholas Serota (Director of Tate) says it's not the first time the website
has crashed from over demand, so he must have known there would be the same
problem. So this leads me to think he doesn't care enough to sort out the
problems and in turn couldn't care about the shows them self's and the sound
bouncing around in that concrete room.

 Hey,

Did any of the UK peeps get tickets for the London Tate shows? From looking
at forums it seems the Tate didn't handle the demand very well and their
system crashed immediately. The web site said no in person sales and they
were selling tickets over the counter too

I can't go so didn't even bother but it seems like chaos, I hope this is not
a sign of things to come and that the shows go off ok.

2012-12-13 Thread Martin Dust
Tate clearly doesn't have state-of-the-art admin which can match the
technocratic 'Gestalt' [pardon me for being poncy] of Kraftwerk.
Even so, there's little doubt that Kraftwerk would only appear at a venue
[nowadays] if the sound facilities were top notch.

Not so sure about that Ken, the event at Manchester Velodrome was pretty poor.

Didn't know that. I'm surprised.

I've heard quite a bit of music at the Tate over the years and the sound was
very good; although those events were in the 'studio' thingies, not the Turbine
Hall

Maybe they'd be open to someone opening a Kraftwerk touring franchise, like
the Beach Boys.

It would be in the spirit of the endeavour.

I personally wouldn’t object but I’m not sure I’m suited to the work itself, in
case you’re proposing the 313 list bids for the franchise.
