Hi Patrick! There was a recent Model 500 released on R & S: http://www.discogs.com/Model-500-OFI-Remixes/release/2717435 & http://www.discogs.com/Model-500-OFI-Huesca/master/281013 I would have thought myself, that they would want to "restart" the label with a "bang". While I do like the new Metroplex release, for my own pidgeon holes that I put music into, it doesn't sound like a Metroplex release to me. I personally would have waited for the upcoming Model 500 Album that is discussed here: http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=15139 to start off the label with. I fully appreciate that an artist / label shouldn't feel constrained by the hopes & wishes of the masses but in cases like this i just wish they'd start fresh with a new label & leave its reputation in tact. I don't know, techno music by definition should always be moving forward but i can't help feel disappointed. It doesn't sound like Detroit Techno. It's closer to some of the more experimental stuff at the fringes of dance music. It isn't bad, per se, it just doesn't have that immediate emotional hook. I try my own work, to try to find rhythms I find compelling and combine that with tonal material that has some emotional resonance for me personally. Whether or not I succeed with respect to others is an open question, but that is what I'm trying. Like a lot of things about Derrick May, it's by no means obvious what he's got in mind, even though he's one of the most prolific talkers in the city of Detroit.
