Didn't Kenny Larkin sample Star Tek in one of his records? I wondered if anyone on the list can think of any? I know lots of technoheads are into Trek, so tech-related suggestions would be cool, but I'm looking for musicians from all other genres too. Particularly useful would be tips on specific releases, lyrics, samples or songs etc. Also, if there are any Trekkies on the list who can point me towards good Trek sites or mailing lists/newsgroups, I'd be very grateful. How about on UR's Galaxy 2 Galaxy (UR-25)? Track c1: Deep Space 9 (a brother runs this ship) out. Dave

I've been approached by the editor of Star Trek Monthly to write an article on musicians who have been influenced/inspired by (or whom are just plain into) Star Trek. UR have used some Star Trek samples and a picture of Mr Spock used to be on a Submerge record inlay. I think Mad Mike is quite a Star Trek fan :) Cheers, Hans -- Hans Veneman [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.TV-99-AD.com/hans/ http://www.mp3.com/TV99AD

Hi Tom, Funny thing to ask. I interviewed Jay Denham a couple of weeks ago and he admitted he used to be a 'science fiction nut'. Quote: I wanted to be Captain Kirl so bad. Maybe you should get in touch with him on the subject. Aux88 has a sample of 'The Borg' in Xeo Genetic. Pretty cool. I'm a fan (not a real Trekkie) myself and I'm fascinated by The Borg. In fact they are my worst nightmare. With all the cloning and technological progress going on this is the kinda of thing that might result from it in the (far) future. Not a very pleasant thought right? I'll try to think of more. Did you use to write for Magic Feet? I really liked that mag; it was the best around, but I've heard it stopped... Tom, There is a band/group called S.P.O.C.K. that is obviously very influenced by Star Trek. I believe that they are Scandinavian and you should be able to find mucho information about them from the web. They performed at the Labyrinth in Detroit about 6-8 months ago. (really, i'm not talking shit here) it was the nicest part of the exposition, together with old suits being exposed. the rest was somewhat childish a pity were the prices in the start trek shop, videos, posters etc but also including crew clothes, are really ridicoulous expensive. but it sure was fun for all dutch, star trek is everyday at net5, and weekly on sat on ned1 ___ forcefield | mindless entertainment http://www.forcefield.org _ __ ___

He also has a track by the same name on his Ginger LP. There's also a direct reference to Star Trek in Dark Comedy's (Kenny Larkin) classic War of the Worlds 12 on Transmat - track called Corbomite Manouvre, which was a Captain Kirk tactical specialty. BTW Marsel, how were you beamed up? Details?
