Jonny: Larry Heard Praise [Remixes] (US Trackmode) I already bigged this one up, but I'll do it again. Larry Heard's own Tribal Remix is a stormer: it wouldn't be out of place on Another Side, or as a Kenny Larkin track. sounds interesting. i'll have to keep an eye out for a copy and have a listen. I haven't even listened to the other mixes, and this is one of those expensive Trackmode imports (8.49UKP?!). yeah, records are getting so damn expensive. the new Boards of Canada lp is around 20 quid for the vinyl. fair play, it's beautifully packaged and there are 3 slabs of vinyl... but 20 quid!?!? Check out 'The Users and the Gadgets' compilation, this is wicked. I had the fortune to see Marco Carola and Gaetano Parisio play live a while back, Carola did the sonic manipulation and G. played records alongside. Went record shopping yesterday. Some stand outs were: Gadgets Parallel - Finally I hear what the fuss is about. Superb! Definitely some of my favourite non Maurizio Maurizio music. There's a track with a constant bass drone that is maybe one of my favourite tracks of the year so far. I'd appreciate any pointers on how to get hold of the rest of the back catalogue. MOS Utilities - Don't know how old this is it, but it's a fine example of what makes RushHour stuff so great for me right now. Classy Detroit like sounds with a slight lo-fi sound and a distinct lack of nostalgia. Wicked. Full Swing [Edits] part 3 - So much of this DSP stuff about it's hard to sort the weak from the chaff. In the end it's really subjective, but I like the rough expansive sound of Full Swing stuff. In fact almost all the Gadgets records I do like are colloborations with Bernard Maus (of Maus Stolle fame).
