RE: 400 Bad Request
We have had one client who primarily uses iPads who has reported a similar issue from time to time over the past few years. We've never been able to reproduce it since they have around 200 iPads at times - which we don't - and they also have done some customizations which make it hard to isolate the problem. If anyone does have suggestions as to possible things to check, I'd also be curious. ** 4D Internet Users Group (4D iNUG) Archive: http://lists.4d.com/archives.html Options: https://lists.4d.com/mailman/options/4d_tech Unsub: mailto:4d_tech-unsubscr...@lists.4d.com **

RE: Unusual crash / failure to start 4D - Solved
Magnus, Thank you so much. Your suggestion resolved our Danish client issue. I received the following from them this morning: GOOD NEWS – that did it. The conclusion is that region and language have to be the same for it to run. I would assume it's only an issue when you want an English profile but don’t live in English speaking country. THANK you very much – I was starting to be a little sad about upgrading the hardware and would not being able to use it. Thank you again for the suggestion and help with this. It would have taken us quite a while to have resolved it without your help. RE: Unusual crash / failure to start 4D
Hi Magnus, That seems like a promising explanation. I misspoke. I will double check but I think we did also have them try a version of our software using 4D v17. So if it was corrected in 16.2 and we did it would appear that it may have regressed. Just to clarify, are you suggesting that it is a mix of installing Windows for one region and then attempting to change the settings after that. If that is the case does it mean they would need to reinstall Windows again or just change the settings back to the original region they used at install? I have not really understood what is the source of this problem. However it seems to be related to localizations and regional settings. If I install a swedish version of windows everything works. I think that I could also change regional settings to some english/us settings and it worked. So maybe the combination of a an international install of windows and a regional settings containing "nordic countries" is problematic. RE: 4D Write Pro WP feature request - need your support
4D Write had an an export to RTF option which worked with MS Word. That was the main reason we used 4D Write. Until 4D Write Pro has an .rtf or .doc export option we will be unable to use it. This is an essential feature and we can only hope that it arrives quickly. I just added my name to the list of those requesting this feature. Is the Get the Get Database Parameter(SSL_Cipher_List) working correctly or am i doing something wrong?
I just noticed that the Get database parameter(64;<>vtCurrent_SSLCipherList) seems to return a default value of: AES:ALL:!aNULL:!eNULL:+RC4:@STRENGTH That doesn't seem correct especially since I am running 4D v16 R6 and it was my understanding from the release notes (see below) that RC4 is disabled by default. RC4 ALGORITHM DISABLED The RC4 algorithm has known security issues and is now deprecated in 4D Web Server. All RC4 ciphers have been removed from the default cipher list and the “!RC4” pattern has been added to the updated cipher list to explicitly prohibit it. The simple code example I am testing is: <>vtCurrent_SSLCipherList:="" $Cipher:=SET DATABASE PARAMETER(SSL cipher list;"") $Cipher:=Get database parameter(64;<>vtCurrent_SSLCipherList) After I execute this the value <>vtCurrent_SSLCipherList equals AES:ALL:!aNULL:!eNULL:+RC4:@STRENGTH Am I misunderstanding something? 4D Write Pro - Exporting / Saving to other file formats (e.g., .rtf or .doc)
We used to use 4D Write to create standalone RTF formatted reports which could then easily be opened and edited in Microsoft Word. We have just begun to look at 4D Write Pro. RE: No longer able to get to user / design mode
Thanks Miyako, I apologize to all for this classic stupid user error. I guess the time has come and I'm getting more and more senior moments. I have been using 4D since 1990 and using the correct key combination since whenever it started. I'd even used it correctly 4 or 5 times yesterday morning before I started having problems. Perhaps it's because it was so routine and automated in my muscle memory that when I stopped to think about it I consciously didn't even know what my fingers had been doing all those years. For whatever reason though I suddenly convinced myself that I'd been using shift, space bar, right click all these years. Once that inexplicably got stuck in my head yesterday I couldn't reinvoke the correct muscle memory to go back to the correct combination. Thanks again Miyako for resetting my brain. Regarding: the keyboard shortcut to invoke the process popup menu is: Alt+Shift+right click(Windows) Option+Command+right click (Mac OS) ** 4D Internet Users Group (4D iNUG) FAQ: http://lists.4d.com/faqnug.html Archive: http://lists.4d.com/archives.html Options: http://lists.4d.com/mailman/options/4d_tech Unsub: mailto:4d_tech-unsubscr...@lists.4d.com **
RE: No longer able to get to user / design mode
Regarding my earlier note I said: "I wasn't able to get back into design mode by pressing the control key, space bar and right clicking on my splash screen." I believe that was incorrect. I use to press the shift key, space bar and right click to get to design mode. Since I have the trace in the startup method, I found that if choose to edit that method at startup and then choose the Method item from the Run menu and cancel it will then take me to the full design mode which includes the full design toolbar. I am still curious why the keyboard combination suddenly stopped and whether anyone had any ideas how I could get it to work again. No longer able to get to user / design mode
Oddly, I was playing with a demo database of graphs and when I reopened my database I wasn't able to get back into design mode by pressing the control key, space bar and right clicking on my splash screen. That is what I've always used and it worked fine earlier this morning. I am running Windows 10 and v16 R3 and have never had this problem before. Is it possible the demo database changed some default or is there something else which might have become corrupted or changed which might cause this that anyone can think of? Luckily I have a trace on my startup routine so I can choose to edit the method and partially get to design mode but that still won't get me fully into it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 4D Graph customization question
We've upgraded to 4D v16 and needed to replace some custom graphs we'd produced using 4D Draw. The good news is that it looks like the Graph command can produce good enough graphs to meet our needs and looks pretty easy to use. There were just a couple of things that it would be especially nice to have if they were available. Unfortunately I don't immediately see them as options using the graphSettings attributes. 1) We are using the column chart type 1. Is there any way to have the numeric value associated with a bar display either in the bar or immediately above the bar. That would make it easier for folks to immediately see exactly what the value of the bar was. I noticed a percentage appeared in the pie slices of the pie chart so I was hopeful there may be some attributes I'm just missing to do something similar for the column chart. 2) For the column type 1 charts we are using only one Y array. In the example in the manual they show two Y arrays so you can see by year in the Y axis how much France and the US had of X for each year. In that example France is in Blue and the USA is in gold. In our case using that example we would only be displaying 1 country and the Y axis would be each year for that country. As example we'd just be showing France's results by year on the Y axis. In doing that all of the bars are blue. Is there a way to have the bar colors change such that for 1995 it is blue and 1996 it is gold and 1997 it is perhaps red. We'd also be happy with the system just alternating colors if that was an option. We'd just like the Graph to look a little more exciting than just having one bar color. We like the simplicity of the graph command and don't want to get too carried away but if there are any other simple tricks we can use to dress them up we'd be interested in that as well. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Errors using LDAP with v16 on Windows
I am attempting to use the LDAP LOGIN command with v16 32 bit on Windows 10 to connect a Windows AD on a Windows 2016 Server. At the bottom are two scenarios I've tried using with the Administrator User ID and Password for the server. The User ID and Password are identical to what I type when accessing that server using Remote Desktop or to login the server from the console, so they are valid. I have used the generic "password" value in the code below for security. We use the real password value for testing. Scenario one finds the server but appears to fail to successfully authenticate the User ID and password combination. We have also tried prefacing the User ID with variations of the domain "FacilitateTest/", "FaciilitateTest\", "Facilitate/", "Faciilitate\", "Facilitate.Test/", "Faciilitate.Test\". Nothing has worked. On Thursday we are meeting with our Active Directory consultant to see if they can see why we are having problems. Before doing that I thought I'd also reach out to the 4D Community in the event that I am doing something stupid with respect to using this command. In both scenarios I notice that it says "Using Password: Yes." I assume the "Yes" is not the password it thinks I'm using but instead that it is confirming I am using a password. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a third party Active Directory server which we could briefly use to test against using the LDAP LOGIN command. If so, can you provide us with the command and parameters for use to quickly test? This would ensure that it is something unique with our Active Directory implementation versus a problem related to the 4D code, etc. Thanks, Scenario 1 LDAP LOGIN("ldaps://server2016.facilitate.test:636";"Administrator";"password") LDAP error: "Invalid credentials". code 49.
