[AI] Office 2007 ribbons

2009-12-17 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Friends
I have been trying to navigate ribbons in office 2007.
However, many a times, after pressing arrow keys twice or thrice at best, the
cursor returns automatically to the body of message or document as the case may
be, and I have to negotiate the tricky terrain of ribbons again afresh.

What is the proper way to find various erstwhile menu options and navigate in
them in office 7?

Would be thankful for help.

In case no one has told you this before, Microsoft has a free utility which
can be installed on your computer running office 2003. You can then open
Office 2007 documents. The utility is called file format converters.

Hi Himalaya and all,

The vOICe does indeed have a free color identifier. You can get it at
http://www.seeingwithsound.com

You need the mobile java version of the vOICe. The vOICe does work with
Talks and I believe with mobile speak.

The vOICe can report colors of the shape that is in the center of the camera
view. However, an interesting mode is the "analyze" mode where you can set
the vOICe to cycle through all the colors it knows. It will then speak the
color and will also then sound that part of the view. So, if you have a blue
tea shirt with green stripes, the vOICe will sound the blue part of the
tea-shirt when it says "blue" and then also sound the stripes when it says
"green". This is handy for situations where you have items that have more
than a single color. There is also a color filter where you can set the
vOICe to sound objects that have a specific color. So, if I am looking for
the green biscuit box on a table, I set the vOICe to only tell me about
green objects and then focus the phone on the objects on the table. Once I
hear a sound, I determine its position and then reach out for the box and
take it. I have a blog that is mostly about the vOICe. You can see it at
http://techesoterica.wordpress.com.

Note:
For those of you who want to access the seeingwithsound.com site on your
mobile phones, you can navigate to
http://phone.seeingwithsound.com and download the vOICe from that page.

When using mobile phone based color identifiers, you need to take ambient
lighting into account. Colors appear different under different levels of
light. Do remember to keep the camera in a way that light falls on to the
object that you are examining. I have been often asked what is the
difference between a mobile phone color identifier and a dedicated color
identifier. The difference lies in a reference light. Dedicated color
identifiers have a reference light that can be used by the color identifier
when checking the color of an object. Mobile phone color identifiers do not
have such a light hence the variable accuracy. You could well ask why not
use the flash incorporated into most mobile phones? The problem lies with
the programming support for the flash in java and how well symbian and other
operating systems support this across phones. There is a surprising amount
of variability in the kind of java support available across phones.

[AI] Promotion Reservation to physically challenged

2009-12-17 Thread LEGAL AID CELL FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED
Dear Janardhan Naidu,

As we know when DOPT issued circular during 1998 having promotion reservation
to physically challenged employee in all grades, all groups, but subsequently it
state to be superseded vide circular issued during 2005, in recent verdict at
Division Bench of High Court of Karnataka it opinion that DOPT issued circular
during 2005 is merely an instruction it does not disclose promotion
reservation, hence it further ordered that when petitioner approaches high
court then it certainly send direction to government of india to implement
promotion reservation in all government establishments, hence we await further
development in due course. However it may be note that as per Disability
Policy and Act - once the benefits, privileges and rights declared by
governments it should not be deprived in any manner, hence subsequent issued
circular was not acceptable as per the disability act.

Press Embargoed until Delivered

World Intellectual Property Organization
Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR)
   Nineteenth Session
  December 14-18, 2009

United States of America

Statement on Copyright Exceptions and Limitations for
Persons with Print Disabilities

  As Delivered

 December, 2009

  Geneva, Switzerland

Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

The United States is proud to have a series of specific exceptions and
limitations in our copyright law, including for education, libraries,
and persons with print disabilities.

The law of the United States has these exceptions because we believe
access to information, cultural expression, and ideas is essential and
we know that governments have a role to play in facilitating that access
and reducing barriers to information, education and full participation
in a democratic society. So while the United States believes profoundly,
in the words of our Supreme Court, that copyright law is "the engine of
free expression,"1we are also committed to policies that ensure everyone
has a chance to get the information and education they need and to live
independently as full citizens in their communities.

Because education and civic engagement can be severely limited when
information is not available in accessible formats, under US copyright
law qualified non-profit organizations and government agencies are free
to reproduce and distribute published literary works under copyright in
specialized formats for use by blind persons or persons with other print
disabilities. We acknowledge that more is needed, but we are proud of
what this copyright exception has achieved. One of the main providers of
materials under this exception, the National Library Service,
distributes two (2) million Braille and audiobook copies of works to
nearly 800,000 users each year. And we have had this provision in our
law since 1996.

Of course, the United States is not alone in serving those with print
disabilities through carefully crafted limitations and exceptions in
copyright law. As we all know, over 50 countries have specific statutory
exceptions addressed to the needs of the visually-impaired and persons
with print disabilities. Other countries like India are in the midst of
thoughtful deliberations on their own national exceptions.

So the United States is pleased that WIPO is addressing this issue. We
believe that WIPO can move forward on this issue meaningfully and
seriously.

In that respect, the United States wants to first acknowledge the WIPO
Study on Copyright Limitations and Exceptions for the Visually Impaired,
prepared by Ms. Judith Sullivan, and presented to the Standing Committee
in 2006.2 This Study represents the kind of thorough comparative work we
must always do as a foundation for the development of new norms in
international copyright law. We also recognizes the on-going work of the
WIPO Stakeholders' Platform, which continues to explore in detail how
the needs of persons with print disabilities can be better addressed
through trusted intermediaries, new technologies, better formats, and
improved "best practices" in the publishing industry.

The United States also wants to acknowledge and express our appreciation
for the draft treaty language prepared by the World Blind Union and
submitted as a formal proposal at the last session of the Standing
Committee by our colleagues from Brazil, Ecuador, and Paraguay.3 We want
to recognize the tremendous work on that draft that was done by the
World Blind Union, the International Federation of Library Associations,
the DAISY Consortium, and several other groups and individuals. The WBU
treaty proposal will help the Standing Committee focus on this problem
and find the right means of addressing access to materials for people
with print disabilities through well-crafted exceptions to copyright
protection that can become an integral part of the international
copyright system.

As we explained in the last meeting of the Standing Committee, the
United States has been engaged in a process of understanding the
problems that confront persons with print disabilities in our own
country. This has been a joint effort of the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office and the U.S. Copyright Office with leadership from the White
House. This process included a Notice of Inquiry in March 2009 that
generated numerous public responses; a public roundtable in May with
many stakeholder representatives presenting different perspectives on
making copyrighted works accessible to persons with print disabilitie

Re: [AI] mobile as colour identifier

[AI] jaws 11.0.756 released

2009-12-17 Thread srikanth kanuri
Enhancements in JAWS 11.0.756 (December 2009)

The following is a list of items addressed or added between the final
JAWS 11.0.746 release and the JAWS 11.0.756 posting. All enhancements
since the initial
public beta release are included in this release.

• Resolved an issue in Windows 7 where properly authorized JAWS
licenses were being asked to reactivate after rebooting.
• Improvements have been made to the way JAWS recognizes all data
tables that are tagged with the component.
• Resolved an issue with FSReader 2.0 where audio content was not
being played after pressing CTRL+P.
• The Set Row Total and the Set Column Total functions now correctly
define and report the row or column total for the selected cell in an
Excel worksheet.
• Resolved an issue in Excel where some settings were not correctly
saved after closing the Adjust JAWS Options dialog box.
• JAWS correctly identifies tables using the Navigation Quick Key T
when running Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8.
• Resolved an issue where JAWS would frequently shut down when running
Windows Explorer in Windows 7.
• When using Firefox, JAWS correctly enters Forms Mode and reads table headings.
• Resolved a reported issue when using Terminal Services or Remote
desktop if connecting to a computer running Windows 7.
• Resolved a reported issue in Internet Explorer edit controls where
text being selected was not being announced as expected.

The following lookup sources have been added to the JAWS Research It
feature in this release. Remember that you can quickly access lookup
sources using
the INSERT+SPACEBAR, R keystroke. See
previous lookup sources
for a list of items added in an earlier release.

• Area Code Lookup: Type a U.S. or Canadian area code into the lookup
edit field and learn the city, state, or province location for that
area code.
• Business Search: Allows you to search for a specific or general
business in your area using its name or business category and
location. The location can
be in the form of a zip code, city, or city and state. Search results
will provide the name, address, phone number, and, when applicable,
Web site link.
Always use a semicolon to separate the business name or category from
the location, for example, pizza; 33716. This particular search will
return a list
of pizza restaurants in and around the 33716 zip code. If you know the
name and location of a business, such as John Doe Plumbing in St.
Petersburg, Florida,
you can type John Doe Plumbing; St Petersburg, FL to retrieve the
address and phone number. If you would rather see results for more
plumbers in your city,
enter the term plumbers and then the location for a list of these
businesses in your area. Note: Use a comma to separate the city and
state location. Also,
do not use a period when typing city name abbreviations, for example,
type St Petersburg, FL, or Washington, DC. For more information, refer
to the
Business Search example.
• Convert Currency: Use this lookup source to convert an amount of
money from one currency into a foreign equivalent. The current day’s
exchange rate is
used to convert the currency values typed into the lookup edit field.
Note: Three letter abbreviations are used to represent international
currencies,
for example, USD for U.S. dollars, GBP for British pounds, or EUR for
Euros. To view a list of valid currency abbreviations, select the
Convert Currency
lookup without entering a monetary value. Research It will indicate
that you must enter valid currency values and will then display a list
of currency
abbreviations for numerous countries. Run Convert Currency again, but
this time use the appropriate currency abbreviations from the previous
list. When
typing currencies and amounts into the lookup edit field, first type
the amount and currency you are converting from, and then type the
currency that you
are converting to. For example, to convert 100 U.S. dollars into
British pounds, type 100 USD GBP using a space between each item
typed. The result will
appear similar to 100 U.S. dollars = 61. 2070021 British pounds. Refer to the
Convert Currency example
 for more information.
• FedEx Tracking: Returns status information for a valid FedEx®
tracking number. Note: You may want to consider making this your
default lookup source if
your job requires you to frequently track FedEx shipments.

Re: [AI] .ini files

2009-12-17 Thread srikanth kanuri
hi, In the world of windows,The INI file format is a common format for
configuration files. INI files are simple text files with a basic
structure.
They are commonly associated with Microsoft Windows, but are also used
on other platforms. The use of the "INI file" has been deprecated in
Windows and corresponding data should be placed in the
registry.
The name "INI file" comes from the
filename extension
usually used, ".INI", that stands for "initialization". Sometimes
files using the INI file format will use a different extension, such
as ".CFG", ".conf",
or ".TXT".

Hello Sharafu
1. THERE is no reservation in promotions in class I and ii jobs.
2. There is 3% reservation in promotion in class iii and iv jobs.
3. what it means is that: there is reservation in promotion within class
iv jobs from one grade to another, and there is also reservation in
promotion from class iv to iii and also in promotion within class iii from
one grade to another.
However, all these reservations apply if element of direct recruitment in
the post to which promotion is made does not exceed 75%.
Further, there is no reservation in promotions within and from class ii to
I, or iii to ii.

In your particular case, if the post of primary or high school teacher
comes in class II, as I suppose it does, then I am afraid there is no
reservation.

[AI] getting documents typed in hindi using roman?

2009-12-17 Thread Amar Jain
Friends,
I am interested in such tools/websites which offer hindi typing using roman
input.
To be more clear, I am looking for such tools or websites on which we can type
in roman and we get the document typed in Hindi. For example, google input
method tool from:
http://www.google.com/ime/transliteration/index.html

I am not sure about its accessibility because I came to know about this one
recently and I couldn't try it.
Shall be thankful if you can suggest me anyone which is accessible.
Thanks
Amar Jain.

Re: [AI] Compatibility conformation regarding Talks with Nokia N-79

2009-12-17 Thread Satguru Rathi
Dear sir,

The latest version of talks is 4.13.00 and you can get a demo from
www.nuance.com/talks which for 10 minutes and one has to restart the phone
after 10 minutes. However, you may extend this demo for 10 days by exploring
the talk's settings (Talks key+*) and activating the registeration submenu
and selecting the 10day demo. This will send an SMS from your number
containing your EMI number and after a few seconds, your talks will be
registered for 10 days as a fully functional software. Or you may also wish
to contact Saksham for lisence without trying the demo version.
Log on to www.saksham.org for their contact details and other information.

Subject: [AI] Compatibility conformation regarding Talks with Nokia N-79

Dear Friends,
First of all, thanks for your valuable suggestions. Finally, I have
bought Nokia N-79.
However, I tried to search N-82 but, it's already disappeared from market.
Now, kindly suggest me that which latest version of Talks would be
most suitable for N-79, and if it is available WITH you, then please
send it on my ID.
I will be really greatful to all of you.
