[AI] IBM Lotus Notes and its web interface

2011-10-20 Thread CHANDRANI DE
Hi,

I am having difficulty with remote access of IBM Lotus Notes
(webmail) . I need to download attachments so accessing via mobile is
not an option.
While I can log in, I am unable to click on the messages as there seem
to be no links . So I cannot read or answer emails or open
attachments.
Would be greatful if someone who has experience of Lotus Notes, as a
client and as remote access/web interface , can guide me.
Regards,
Chandrani

Re: [AI] urgent and important

2011-10-20 Thread Mohammed Ahtesham Shaikh Zed
I suggest the friends to mention the actual subject in the subject line and
not just "urgent" etc.
This enables the users to brouze through the emails faster and search
important mails in the long run.
People who know more about the subject will be able to respond faster or
they may postpone to another day and then may miss out the mail which does
not have clear subject line.
Hope this will be of help to most of the list members.

2011-10-20 Thread jeevaraj

hi!
as per my knowledge, you cannot convert directly AMR in to MP3 format,
So I suggest you to first convert to WMA format, then you can convert easily
to MP3 format, using any converting software. EG: total video converter

Haptic shoe could replace the white cane
 By Ben Coxworth
 15:22 October 17, 2011
Le Chal is a navigational device for the blind, that guides them
to their destination via vibrations in one of their shoes

Anirudh Sharma's system is called Le Chal, which is Hindi for
"Take Me There." It is intended primarily to assist users in finding
their way to specific geographical locations, although it also helps
them avoid walking into things on their way there. Sharma designed the
first prototype in January, while attending MIT's Design and
Innovation workshop in the Indian city of Pune.

The basic idea behind Le Chal is that one of the user's shoes
will provide haptic feedback, guiding the user toward their
destination by vibrating in the front, back, or on either side - a
vibration on the front indicates that they should keep going straight,
a vibration on the left side means that they should turn left, and so
on.

The user begins by entering their destination on Google Maps,
using their Le Chal-app-running Android smartphone. That phone then
communicates by Bluetooth with a LilyPad Arduino circuit board,
located in the heel of the shoe. Following the Google-supplied
turn-by-turn directions, along with locational data from its own GPS
unit, the phone gets the Arduino to activate each of the shoe's four
vibrators as needed. The vibrations start out low, but build in
intensity as the user nears points where they have to turn.

A proximity sensor in the front of the shoe also alerts the user
to obstacles, which it can detect from up to ten feet (three meters)
away.

While there is no word of Le Chal being marketed any time soon,
Sharma is planning to release the code for the app and the schematics
for the shoe, via the Arduino community. He also plans on creating a
Do-It-Yourself guide on Wikipedia, which users can update with their
own improvements to the system.

Re: [AI] Help regarding kes file

2011-10-20 Thread Sameer

Dear Friend,

Use Kurzweil to open the Kes files. When the files are opened in Kurzweil,
use the Save As option to save them in rtf format. The rtf files can be
opened in Word.

Hi Ketan,

try www.rechargeitnow.com if the recharge amount is 200+. It's well
accessible.

I've also heard of www.paytm.com in recent times on the list, not sure how
accessible it is. My nephew Hozefa says that he finds it difficult to
access

it with JAWS, the good thing about it is that it lets you recharge for any
amount unlike www.recharge.com.

[AI] Talks new release

2011-10-20 Thread Adhimoolam Vetrivel Murugan
We proudly announce the release of the Nuance Accessibility Suite –
Nuance TALKS and ZOOMS – Version 5.22 supporting Series 60 3rd
Edition / 5th Edition / Symbian^3 for October 20th, 2011.

Version 5.22 is a free upgrade for all Premium Edition licenses
generated after November 13th, 2007 (the release date of TALKS 3.50
for 3rd Edition). In particular, this means that it can be installed
by any customer who is currently able to run version 4.11 or 5
without requiring a new license.

2.. Changes to the list of supported phones
The main focus in this version is support for Symbian^3 phones that
have installed the “Anna” firmware update, and removing issues
with the web browser and e-mail client on the Nokia E6-00.

After installing this release, upgrading the phone to Symbian Anna
(where available) is recommended, as it includes several
stability and performance improvements that also benefit TALKS users.
However, phones without the Anna upgrade can continue to be
used as before.

Please note that installing the upcoming Symbian Belle upgrade is NOT
recommended with this version of TALKS, as this will reduce
the level of accessibility in some applications significantly.

No new phone models are supported in this release.

3.. What’s New?
This section lists the improvements of TALKS&ZOOMS 5.22 compared to
the previous version (5.21).

1.. New version of Eloquence
This version includes a new default version of Eloquence, 6.1.126,
with two following changes:

a.. The default sample rate is again 8/11kHz (depending on the phone
model), as in earlier versions of Eloquence. However, the new
16kHz version introduced with the previous release of TALKS is
available as an alternative entry in the list of voices (for example
on the “Speech” tab in the Settings window). This way, it is possible
to easily select the audio type that produces the best results
according on personal listening preferences and the characteristics of
a phone’s speaker.
b.. The volume of the 16kHz version was reduced to avoid “clipping”
distortions that could occur when switching between 8/11 and
16kHz versions at Volume Factors above 100%.
c.. Fixed an installation error with the extended US exception
dictionary (version “enu_dct”) that would cause the dictionary
entries to be ignored.

Please note: prior versions of Eloquence that worked with TALKS 5.21
(e.g. 6.1.123 or 6.1.125) continue to be supported, so the
upgrade of Eloquence to the latest release is optional and only
required if the improvements listed above .

2.. New version of Daisy2go
This version of TALKS includes a new version of Daisy2go (2.02.1),
which provides the following fixes and improvements:

a.. Long cursor presses now work on the E52 and other phones that
didn't support them before.
b.. DAISY-fy: name of folder is now suggested as default book title.
c.. Fixed incorrect cursor position in text-only books.
d.. Fixed looping at end of a display section on 5th Edition / Symbian^3.
e.. Fixed: When deleting book from both list and memory, the wrong
directory was sometimes removed.
3.. Other changes
This section lists further changes to TALKS that were made in this update:

Application support:

a.. More reliable object recognition in Ovi Maps 3.06
b.. Labeled additional icons, such as Symbian^3 homescreen number,
calculator keys, as well as some icons in Messaging and Ovi
Maps.
c.. Menu selections in Internet Radio are no longer repeated while scrolling.
d.. Fixed excessive verbosity in 3rd Edition music player.
e.. E72: Date and appointments are read again in Month view of calendar.

Touch screen improvements:

a.. [long Vol Down] in SMS viewer simulates [Enter], to allow opening
of links from Autofind and to add the sender's number to
contacts (when Cursor Mode is "Original".

Other changes:

a.. Braille: text field of SMS messages is shown even when it is just
a single line.

Bug fixes:

a.. 5th Edition: Fixing crash when attempting to read profile name on
Home Screen.
b.. Fixed rare cases where audio device is not closed after end of speech.
c.. Worked around a reproducible Eloquence crash in French for a
particular word.
4.. Known Issues with specific phones and apps
This section lists some frequently reported known problems and
limitations that may occur when using TALKS with particular handsets
or apps:

a.. Daisy2go on Symbian Anna: after adding a new book to the
bookshelf, the application will close. However, the book is added
correctly and can be used after starting the application again.
b.. Nokia browser 7.3: opening drop-down lists by pressing [Select]
currently does not work reliably, due to a bug in the browser.
c.. Nokia E7-00: the default [Talks] key on this phone is the [Menu]
key at the front of the device. On phones without Symbian
Anna firmware, this key will not behave correctly if it is pressed
twice too quickly, or if the touch screen is used within about a
second after pressing [Talks]. It is recommended to always wait a
moment after pressing the [Ta

You need either Kurzweil 1000 or 3000 to open and convert those books

What I don't understand is: Why there is a desperate attempt to do
away with white cane? While this device may enhance our mobility, it
can never supstitute cane. It's the high time that forums like Access

Re: [AI] Talks new release

2011-10-20 Thread Adhimoolam Vetrivel Murugan
According to the release notes, it should be possible. You just have
to be aware that Nokia is going to come-up with a bell firmware update
and make sure not to update your phone when it is released. Because it
interfears with accesibility, it is not suggested until talks works
around that issue.

As we had discussed on phone, what were your results after upgradation.
are you getting the same error which is told here? are any new symptom
appeared? if the same or any symptoms, reply back and I will diagnose
your problem and find the solution.

try www.rechargeitnow.com if the recharge amount is 200+. It's well
accessible.

I've also heard of www.paytm.com in recent times on the list, not sure
how
accessible it is. My nephew Hozefa says that he finds it difficult to

 2.. New version of Daisy2go
This version of TALKS includes a new version of Daisy2go (2.02.1),
which provides the following fixes and improvements:

a.. Long cursor presses now work on the E52 and other phones that
 didn't support them before.
b.. DAISY-fy: name of folder is now suggested as default book title.
c.. Fixed incorrect cursor position in text-only books.
d.. Fixed looping at end of a display section on 5th Edition /
 Symbian^3.
e.. Fixed: When deleting book from both list and memory, the wrong
 directory was sometimes removed.
 3.. Other changes
This section lists further changes to TALKS that were made in this
 update:

 Application support:

a.. More reliable object recognition in Ovi Maps 3.06
b.. Labeled additional icons, such as Symbian^3 homescreen number,
calculator keys, as well as some icons in Messaging and Ovi
 Maps.
c.. Menu selections in Internet Radio are no longer repeated while
 scrolling.
d.. Fixed excessive verbosity in 3rd Edition music player.
 e.. E72: Date and a

Haptic shoe could replace the white cane
 By Ben Coxworth

[AI] Baby Simran comes to life

2011-10-20 Thread Devdas Nayak
Baby Simran comes to life; track Rajdhani from today
Source: Rajendra Aklekar, DNA | Last Updated 03:30(21/10/11) Share |

Call 'Baby Simran' to track trains

Mumbai: Track the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani and a host of other Rajdhani trains
on-line from today. Just log in to
http://www.simran.in/
and find out the train location, running position and location with respect to
the next stop in terms of kilometres. DNA has reported that the railways
had been working on this project on September 28.

The Indian Railways on Wednesday went live with the new satellite-based
technology that would help commuters waiting at stations to track down the exact
location of trains. Affectionately called Baby Simran, (the official name of
the project is Satellite Imaging for Rail Navigation or SIMRAN), the project
took railway ministry four years to complete.

The system will provide the public and passengers information such as train's
running position (whether it is running on time or late and the duration of
delay), and location with respect to the next stop in terms of kms.

A top Mumbai-based official said, "The Research Designs and Standards
Organisation (RDSO) at Lucknow and Kanpur IIT had been working on the project,
which
also involves getting details on mobile phones."

"The work is being done in a phase-wise manner. It's a Rs 100-crore project,
and it will eventually connect all stations and trains. The project works on
the principles of GPS navigation and radio frequency and would require
installation of radio tags on locomotives, stations and control rooms connected
to a central server. The process also involves digital mapping of stations,''
he elaborated.

Re: [AI] Talks new release

2011-10-20 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
Thanks for sharing. The new eloquence works well on my N79 in the
regular mode, though not the 16KHz mode. One more good thing I noticed
is that Talks doesn't constantly speak time while playing music as it
used to do in v5.21. Now one doesn't need to mute Talks in the music
player for this reason, of course a user may prefer to mute it for
himself for other reasons.

Once again bank denying some facility to a VI customer. I believe the
branch you're talking about isn't aware of the RBI guidelines. Present
them the circular and demand the reason for denial in writing from the
official if the circular doesn't help.

I have an account with SBI with all facilities, Vishnu Ramchandani on
our list also has an account and I believe he uses his thumb
impression.

SBI's online banking is well-accessible too.

Re: [AI] Haptic shoe could replace the white cane

2011-10-20 Thread George Abraham
Scientific work must go on. However declaration of final achievement must be
made only after a working useful product is out in the market. In fact the
National Award should be given only after there is good customer feedback.

Haptic shoe could replace the white cane

This is ridiculous, as SBI has a section of their website set aside
exclusively for this purpose.

Could you give me the details of the branch? Insight will take up this issue.

James
