According to RBI guide lines from September 2011 on line banking and
registration for third party transfer are 2 different processes
Ones you have registered for on line banking then again you have to
manually go to bank branch and register for third party transfers by
filling up a small form and the service will be activated within 72
hours
But wait still you are not aloud to use this service, after bank
aproves your request then you have to register again for third party
transfers from your on line account, by selecting your secret 5
questions . Which will be reconfirmed when you use this facility?

2011-12-14 Thread Kiran Kaja
I have been using an iPhone 4 for more than an year now and I wouldn't go
back to Symbian again. the touch screen takes some getting used to. aside
from this, the built-in accessibility features and VoiceOver in particular
provide excellent access. There are a large number of free and low cost apps
to improve the functionality of the device. And the Safari web browser is
almost as good as a desktop web browser.

There is one important thing though. If you are only going to make phone
calls and send text messages with your phone, you probably wouldn't need
anything more than the C5. If you want to use your phone for a lot of other
things such as email, web browsing, listening to podcasts, audio books,
Skype conversations, updating Twitter FaceBook status and so on in
addition to phone calls and text messages, then iPhone will be useful. Also
remember that you will need wifi or 3G data connectivity to make best use of
iPhone's capabilities. Android phones can do some of these things to an
extent but screen reader access on Android is a bit dodgy at the moment.

If I remember correctly, I will be doing a talk on built-in access on mobile

[AI] A complex problem

2011-12-14 Thread Mohit Shah Shah
Hi all,

I have a very good friend who is partially blind.
So, he is facing a very big problem.
I asked him to ask about his problem in this group, but he doesn't
want to insult himself or his family by doing that.
He is 20 years old.
He is currently pursuing his LLB degree in Pune.

So, his maternal grandparents are very rich.
They have a very big house which is worth crores of rupees.
So, his dad says that the house should be divided equally between his
mother and her brother after the deaths of his maternal grandparents.
His dad says that his mother should get a part of the house so that
she will then have the resources to help him (my friend) if he fails
to do something substantial in his life.
His dad also works very hard to collect more and more resources just
to make sure that my friend doesn't have to face a lot of problems in
his future.

So, my friend is mostly upset because his parents keep arguing about
this matter all the time.
He says that his dad also uses abusive language while arguing with his mother.
His dad tries to prevent him (my friend) and his mother from meeting
his grandparents, because his dad feels that his grandparents don't
care about his future.

His maternal grandparents say that they can't divide that particular
house because their son (my friend's maternal uncle) stays in that
house.
They are, however, willing to give another house to my mother which is
not as expensive as the house that my dad wants.

My friend says that both his grandparents and his father are really nice people.
He says that his father is worried about his future because of his
visual impairment.
And his father believes that his mother should also help in building a
better future for my friend.
My friend is a very capable guy.
He always comes first in exams.
So, I'm sure that he will not require anybody's assistance for
building his career.

He is always upset because of the fights between his parents.
He feels that he is the main reason for all their fights.
He wants to show his father that he is not so worthless that he will
require the assistance of his maternal grandparents.
So, what can my friend do?

My friend will be reading all your posts, so please do share your
suggestions and views.

Regards,
Mohit

Friends
We at BGFI Resource centre for the blind at Nagpur have a friend who was
a tailor while sighted.

He has gone blind about five years ago and has left his job of tailoring.
I know the blind can effectively do the sewing and other tailoring jobs.
Now the challenge is to train him do them without sight and develop his
confidence...

He is totally blind.
Please advice where can it be done as a short term course?
I was just wondering whether anybody locally conversant with niceties of
tailoring could also teach him deal with the challenge successfully?

With thanks and regards

If I remember correctly, I will be doing a talk on built-in access on mobile
devices at TechShare India in early February if you are interested.

You friend should become independent and for this I suggest that he
completes his law and starts his legal career. It is not wise for him to
forsake his career because his family believes that he cannot do it. He can
do it if he puts his mind to it.

[AI] Update on the treaty for the Visually Impaired

2011-12-14 Thread rahul cherian
For all those interested in international developments in the Right to Read
Campaign, I have written up an update after I returned last week from the
the negotiations in Geneva. I would like to particularly mention the
support given by the delegate from Pakistan, Dr. Ahsan Nabeel to the World
Blind Union. the update is available here
http://inclusiveplanetpolicy.blogspot.com/2011/12/update-on-treaty-for-visually-impaired.html

Also, our Indian copyright amendment came up briefly in the Rajya Sabha
yesterday but could not be discussed fully. We will wait and watch to see
what happens.

Best regards,

Rahul

 Subject: [AI] A complex problem

He says that his dad also uses abusive language while arguing with his
 mother.

My friend says that both his grandparents and his father are really nice
 people.

 Regards,
 Mohit

Khedkar jee,

I think the suggestion what Ali has given should work for you because I also
faced similar situation and changing folder view from one to two lines I
could get rid of that. try restarting your device once.

For your second query, you might like to change the talks reading mode from
Original to Characters or words and it should work fine. For changing
reading mode, use Talks key+ long 2.

well use the standard interface to check all the messages there's a
check box at the top once you do that by the help of jaws cursor you
can get some options like select all the messages example 5000 or more
messages if you tick the check box every thing will be deleted once
you use the delete button.
Its a bit tricky, but you can get through it.

The Saro talk of 24th Sep, 2009, had a matured discussion about
relationships, finding and meeting those special people, which could be
friendships or may be something more on a personal level, people seeking
intemacy from a visually challenged person's prospective. How do we pursue
relationships, what do we look for, how do we overcome our fears and some of
the stereotypes that we may have to deal with etc.

Perhaps, you can take some tips from this talk.
But don't forget that you are the very embodiment of happiness. You may
pursue a sensible relationship objectively, for your evolution, but don't
let your happiness depend on any external source lest you are disappointed
and regret it later, smile.

You can download and listen to this open matured discussion at:

Take care and all the very best,
Cheers.
Most folks are as happy as they make up mind to be.

I have been using an iPhone 4 for more than an year now and I wouldn't go
back to Symbian again. the touch screen takes some getting used to. aside
from this, the built-in accessibility features and VoiceOver in particular
provide excellent access. There are a large number of free and low cost
apps

to improve the functionality of the device. And the Safari web browser is
almost as good as a desktop web browser.

There is one important thing though. If you are only going to make phone
calls and send text messages with your phone, you probably wouldn't need
anything more than the C5. If you want to use your phone for a lot of
other

things such as email, web browsing, listening to podcasts, audio books,
Skype conversations, updating Twitter FaceBook status and so on in
addition to phone calls and text messages, then iPhone will be useful.
Also
remember that you will need wifi or 3G data connectivity to make best use
of

iPhone's capabilities. Android phones can do some of these things to an
extent but screen reader access on Android is a bit dodgy at the moment.

If I remember correctly, I will be doing a talk on built-in access on
mobile

devices at TechShare India in early February if you are interested.

Kiran

Friends,

I played around a bit with my friend's iPhone yesterday and it wasn't less
than a thrill.

First, it was very fast in response,
2nd, the hassle free experience of touch screen brought marvel on my face,
thirdly, that woman's voice was almost humanly and.

So guys, I would be greatful if any iPhone and android users (totally
blind) can share your experiences with me in terms of its pros corns

Re: [AI] QUTA in Thatkal Reservation for Trains

2011-12-14 Thread Rohiet A. Patil
Basically I don't understand that if no concessions are allowed on tatkal
ticket, then what is the point in asking for concession form? Further, if
there is no question of getting concession, then as per my openian it is not
necessary to go the counter. You can book E-ticket through IRCTC site. Only
thing is that according to the new tatkal rule, while booking online ticket
you will need to enter the details of your ID proof such as pan number etc.

 Subject: [AI] A complex problem

He says that his dad also uses abusive language while arguing with his
 mother.

My friend says that both his grandparents and his father are really nice
 people.

 Regards,
 Mohit

Re: [AI] A complex problem

2011-12-14 Thread Subramani L
The problem with your friend seems to be that he wants to be
assertive, but is finding it difficult since his parents play such a
crucial role in his life. On one hand, he feelllike telling them that
listen, I may not have eyes, but I have spine, a strong wil and
determination to achieve the goals I set for myself and on the other
hand he also wonders my parents are good people. they fight, but they
care for me. So how can I ask them to let me do what I want without
offending them.

If this definition of his problem is correct, then he must get to the
bottom of it right now. There's no point in saying I am independent
without demonstrating it to someone. It is disappointing to see a lot
of my VI friends finding it harder to independently move around, which
is the most important message for the care givers that they are indeed
capable of taking care of their lives. Personallly speaking, I am as
thoroughly disorganised as any muddle-headed guy you wold meet, but
when it comes to doing things on my own, I am stubbern and never
compromise.

As your friend to get away from home whenever things heat up. It is
highly important for him to keep his cool and focus on what he is
doing and the atmosphere at home is not helpful. I am sure he has
friends who can ehlp him get off for a day or two when situation
warrents it.

Without beiing offensive to his parents, he must discuss the issue
with them and demonstrate that he is not very happy with them being
over protective and intrusive. Of course, this is easier said than
done. I have had many a battle with my folks and the results are
always satisfying, though it could at times be a little painful.

Good luck.

Dear moiz tundawala,

Really hats off to you on using google talk with the JAWS cursor. Google talk
is not at all an accesible application. I have being addressing this with their
team, but with no fruitful results. Frustrated I did my homework and found this
site where I got some amazing scripts which have made my life with the
application so much easier. Sharing them below with you all.

I will give the link at the end of the email. Before which please educate
yourself with the instructions below. Download the scripts from the site, the
link for download should read Google talk scripts for jaws 7 and above on that
page. the scripts are in a zipped/compressed format. Unzip the file and open
the folder, open folder and copy all the files in it. Then you need to go to
the start menu, programs, jaws submenu then explore my settings and Explore My
Settings. This should open a folder called ENU. Paste all the files in this
folder. Close folder and then launch Google talk, you should hear press JAWS
key and H key to learn the hotkeys for Google Talk. If you hear this, your
scripts have been instaled correctly. You can then explore the hotkeys for
Google talk by pressing the insert and h key. Rest is simple log in and enjoy
your google talk experience.

The link to download the scripts is:

First, it was very fast in response,

So guys, I would be greatful if any iPhone and android users (totally

The Saro talk of 24th Sep, 2009, had a matured discussion about
relationships, finding and meeting those special people, which could be
friendships or may be something more on a personal level, people
seeking

intemacy from a visually challenged person's prospective. How do we
pursue

relationships, what do we look for, how do we overcome our fears and
some

of the stereotypes that we may have to deal with etc.
Perhaps, you can take some tips from this talk.
But don't forget that you are the very embodiment of happiness. You
may
pursue a sensible relationship objectively, for your evolution, but
don't
let your happiness depend on any external source lest you are

Re: [AI] seeking Views on iPhone

2011-12-14 Thread Subramani L
Hai:

Been using iPhone for the past two months and must say that it's
fantastic. Touch requires a bit of practice and refinement. Lots of
concentration, especially while typing in messages. Here are my
thoughts:

Advantages:

When you demonstrate to your employers and fellow workers that you can
use a technology which is complex even for the able-bodied, it creates
a very positive impression on people about your ability to work with
technology.

Though using emails and maps are more sophisticated in iPhones than in
other smartphones, the biggest advantage we have is the possibility of
using so many free apps which enhance your experience. Many things,
starting from social networking platforms to newspapers are available
as apps which you can use. I particularly like the idea of sincing
contacts with MS Outlook.

There is a feature called 'Compus, which helps you find the directions
while you walk and essentially help you figure out where exactly you
should take a turn in places not very familiar to you. Similarly, most
of the features pre-installed are accessible and are easy to use. You
feel very adventurous trying to familiarize with the features. There's
certainly a lot of 'feel good'.

I am not able to think of any more advantages, especially given that
most smartphones in Nokia and other phones these days have features
that are very similar or even better than iPhones.

Disadvantages:

In India, you can only use 3gs given there are no support for other,
more latest, iPhone and iPad models. Which means, if you happen to
drop it, it would be junk.

Touch is not the best mode of operations during emergencies. You
basically have to locate the icon on the screen and then double tab it
open the feature. So many times, I have fumbled to dial a number for
someone or try opening something which I want someone to see. These
are not real emergencies but I shudder to think what I would do if I
were to handle emergency situations like calling fire service and so
on. Not things we face on a daily basis, but we need to be absolutely
sharper than using other technologies.

I am sure all of you know the battery issue. It drains faster than
other phones and you need to ensure you carry the charger wherever you
go, always. In case you don't have, there's no choice but to let it go
dead. Since I have long working hours on certain days, forgetting
charger would mean forgetting the idea of using mobile phone. Buying
two chargers and keeping one at office and one at home is a good idea,
but Apple's accesseries are expensive.

You must absolutely avoid accidents. Any damage to the touch screen
would effectively mean the phone is useless. Service, though available
for 3gs, is said to be very costly.

Finally, the threat of losing the phone, especially for VI persons who
travel/commute alone for most of the days. You need to be extra
careful and vigilant while using the phone in public places. The best
idea is to use hands free, but you have the disadvantage of not being
able to read text messages or check mails while on the move. Remember:
iPhones sold in India are not locked, which means it would be easier
for anyone to remove the sim and use it with any other sim. I don't
know if there are aps to protect iPhones, something I need to research
and find out.

Overall: I bought iPhone 3gs for 20 thousand and I am sure I could
have got others like Nokia Windows Phone or Samsung Android, but the
appeal of iPhones is too great and since I always felt fascinated by
it, I bought it. You can call it brand loyalty.

Touch, in general, is something for those who feel curious about
technology and would like to explore. If you look for comfortable
usage, then touch may not be your cup of tea.

regards,

Subbu

2011-12-14 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Well on a serious note, visual ability or otherwise does matter in such matters.
So, it would be good if we can discuss it from that angle.
I have observed that the fact that we are not hundred percent independent in
our outings, and the girl has naturally to assist us, affects social outlook.
For ex. firstly, the girl herself may come to feel it something other than or
less than a date, and so, the quality of relationship matters.
Another challenge is to make intentions clear, as more often than not, eyes are
the primary medium for expressing romantic intent.

Sahir has said:
Kaun kahta hai, muhhabat ki Zuban hoti hai,
Ye hakikat to nigahon se bayan hoti hai..
However, we have to change this and I have replied to him in a prolonged poem
which begins like:

Ham ye kahte hain muhhabat ki zuban hoti hai.
Ye hakikat kyaa nigahon se bayaan hoti hai???

2011-12-14 Thread Asudani, Rajesh
Well, it is ages since I have touched Hindu Law in my LL.B. days, however, I
believe after 2005, a hindu female has equal property rights even in
coparcenery property of her father.
However, an unmarried/divorcee daughter has the right of residence in the
parental home but cannot ask that the house be partitioned and she be given her
share, but can ask for her share if the male members decide to partition the
house.
However since in this case, the female is already married, she does have the
equal share in the house along with her brother in the property of her parents
cumulatively, in case of their passing away intestate. I believe however she
may not insist on a particular house

 Subject: [AI] A complex problem

He says that his dad also uses abusive language while arguing with his
 mother.

My friend says that both his grandparents and his father are really nice
 people.

 Regards,
 Mohit

Re: [AI] A complex problem

2011-12-14 Thread Kotian, H P

Dear Mohit

I can understand, when it was the issue of property etc. Your friend preferred
to be talking to the group through you. I think it is time he speaks for
himself when he is talking about being independent and taking his own decisions.

Firstly, he should get the self confidence to take his life up despite his
failing vision. This does not happen by thinking about it alone. It helps
immensely to draw inspiration from other persons who have achieved despite
their disability similar to his or who are in a more disadvantage situation
than his.

For this he will have to come out, meet up with other persons and maybe he can
take his parents along. In most case, I am sure, the parents would be doing the
talking and he would turn a passive listener.

What he should be doing is to ask tips as how everyday task which seem
impossible is accomplished by Vi person. He is to bring about to himself and
his parents that there are many ways to perform a task and that a VI does it in
a little different more suitable to him. There are many persons at Pune itself
who are members of this AccessIndia family to turn to for this.

Next most important task to enrol for a mobility training course and nothing
should be spared from doing this. No compromise on that, it has to be done. It
is fine he has residual vision still it is very necessary to use the cane,
because, even though there is residual sight, there are many typical situations
faced by partially sighted persons and having a cane would save many an
embarrasements or avoidable accidents.

Do understand, parents will discourage you to do many things because of your
failing vision, however, you need to work with them, achieve one landmark at a
time and, to walk you need to take baby steps to start with.

All the very best to this unknown soul.
Harish Kotian.

His parents, therefore, are not very willing to allow him to use a white cane.

Re: [AI] Dating

2011-12-14 Thread YADAV, D. N
why to choose only dating for furthering relationship? Or if it has to be a
dating it should be later when relations get better matured. They say first
'impression is the last impression' I would never wish bad should be the last
impression with dating between blind a sighted one which inherently has
limitations.

Mostly, as I see, relations beginning with dating even in 2 seeing persons end
up in break ups as one tries to give out hundred% on the occasion, whereas we
well know nobody can be hundred% all the time.

To me relations have better foundations on identical thoughts, thinking
processes, likes/dislikes, choices in life, entertainments, priorities
identical outlook to family relations, society what not. Conceptual
agreements fair intelligence in taking up the things may lead to better
understanding of your friend/life partner. So better go on those lines as they
make a base for lifelong relational adventures, dating could be just one phase
of courting before marriage. as it involves a lot of exposure in the limits
of our impairment, it should be put on backburner tried on only when
relations get mature.

what are you telling! it is highly accessible indeed? Hmm! if this is a
case, just press insert+escape and try again. it must be the combo box.
under rare circumstances, you will have to open it's drop down list box by
pressing the alt+down arrow under certain combo box and choose an
appropriate and press enter and go ahead.

 Dear Prathusha,

 What makes you say that?

And isn't this thread that you have created off-list?

You want to talk about JAWS all day, but don't want to deal with

 problems in the real world.
