Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal.
Hi I had an opportunity to try out a live Accessible ATM during Antarchakshu at XRCVC recently . All the function of an ATM is fully accessible and can be performed independently without using any assistance. When you insert the headphone, it prompts if you want to blank out the screen. It describes each of the key, where it is placed and its functionality All the error conditions are also spoken out. The places where the cash gets dispensed and the printouts are Braille labelled. Once the headphone gets pulled out the screen gets reset and it awaits a new transaction. The ATM plus transactions like mobile charge etc. Are you can say add on's and in reality gimmics. So, in conclusion, you don't miss out on it and we need to keep pressing that we have more of these accessible ATMS functioning. Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal.
Hi, Yesterday I was also on the site of ATM. It was really a great feeling to transact through my ATM card independently with the help of IVR. Day before yesterday, during the trial before the inauguration of ATM I had used two different bank's cards and checked account balance, withdrew money etc. The messages were quite clear with multiple options as mentioned by other members. What I feel that banks should come up with ATM cards having some kind of uniform tactile mark so one can ascertain the exact direction in which it can be inserted in the machine. Re: [AI] Friends a small query while working on an Excel sheet
I don't know how others manage to unhide, but my technique is this To unhide all the rows at once, press ctrl + shift + space to select the entire worksheet and then press ctrl + shift + 9. To unhide all the columns at once, select the entire worksheet and then press control + shift + 0. To unhide one row or one column at a time, press ctrl + G, type the reference of the hidden cell, and then press shift + space to select the row or ctrl + space to select that column depending what you'd like to unhide and then choose the equivalent option. For example, Let's say I want to unhide the column C. so, I press ctrl + g, and type c1. When the cursor moves there, I press control + space to select the entire column and then press ctrl + 0 to unhide the selected column. Hope this demystifies it all. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of tiku raj Sent: 29 September 2012 20:00 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] Friends a small query while working on an Excel sheet On 9/29/12, Syed Imran syed.f...@gmail.com wrote: Shortcut keys: Ctrl + 9 - hide the selected rows Ctrl + 0 - hide the selected columns Ctrl + shift + 9 - unhide the selected rows Ctrl + shift + 0 - unhide the selected columns. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Mukesh Sent: 29 September 2012 17:45 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] Friends a small query while working on an Excel sheet To hide column: Select the particular column exa. column 'D' and press application key-hide-enter-done. Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal.
Please calm down. Things take time in India. What we are working on is progressive realisation. Just because things don't happen at your pace or at the desired pace does not mean that they are not happening. Some of us work very hard to realise some dreams and then we keep working at those dreams to make them reality. Its for others like you to point out the problems but do so positively rather than negatively. The Banks should have introduced one third talking ATMs long ago but they haven't done so, some banks put in special ATMs for the visually challenged and some pretended they had talking ATMs. These were not acceptable to us. What Harish tried at Antarchakshu and what has been installed at BPA Ahmedabad are the type that we want. If the west Bengal model is a correct one then we can say that accessible ATMs are becoming a reality. The XRCVC is keeping a count and checking the accessibility features of the ATMS which are claiming to be accessible. You will see many ATMs being launched this month which will have the correct features. Chenai will not be far behind and yes one day there will be an accessible ATM in India at your doorstep. I joined Accessindia exactly 10 years ago and at that time we had many dreams, many will agree with me that most of the dreams have become reality and we now dream of bigger things. Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal.
ummm? I'm calm. I meant to say politicians, rules, regulations all are in the shape of documents alone in India. There's noone to make it to work, for the most part while it comes to the benefit of disability. Since we are minority, and since they are not gaining much vote from us, they are not paying much attention to our problems. As you are aware, how long they are taking to implement the modified act for us? And how far they are implementing the orders which are in favour of disabled people? If I remember correct, there is a circular or something indicating certain per centage of the ATM's to be accessible for the disabled so. And again, since chennai is one among the four major cities, I pointed it out. Even though there are several circulars telling the bankers to give all the facilities without any descrimination to the visually handicapped, how many of them are following it? I'm still struggling to get my internet banking, you know. - Original Message - From: KanchanPamnani kanchanpamn...@gmail.com To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Sent: Saturday, September 29, 2012 8:35 PM Subject: Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal. Re: [AI] First Talking ATM in West Bengal.
Dear friends, Union Bank of India has till date total 27 talking live ATMs across India. List is available on the bank's website and it is updated with the new live ATMs installations. Union Bank of India launched its first truly accessible bilingual ATM on 6th June 2012 and till date number has gone to 27 in four months. I am pasting locations of Union bank talking ATMs at the end of my message. Union Bank of India’s solution of voice guided ATM has given momentum to accessible and talking ATMs in India. It has motivated other banks and ATM manufacturers to contribute in a similar way and soon we will see good results. For clearing doubts on talking functionality of the ATM of Union bank of India, I am pasting message reply from Dr. Sam Taraporevala replying to Access India posts on talking ATM topics on June 22, 2012. Dr. sam taraporevala is the one who is advocating for talking ATMs in India since 2008. From: Dr. Sam Taraporevala Dear All I have seen a lot of traffic and endless discussions about the status of the accessible ATM of Union Bank of India (UBI), Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. To set the record straight here are some key points. 1. We can label UBI ATM as the first fully accessible bilingual ATM. 2. Accessible ATM machines have been deployed by different banks but this particular ATM machine is comprehensive in its accessibility. 3. The ICICI ATM machine which was in Mumbai and Pune deployed in the year 2002 has had 3 language options but it would not be possible for non-ICICI users to access its facilities. What is more it was not wheelchair friendly. 4. The Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has also deployed an excellent model of a talking ATM machine however the locations are not wheelchair friendly and SCB only offers English to its users. This ATM can be accessed by any bank ATM card users 5. Banks like State Bank of India have come out with some talking ATM machines however as of now access is restricted to only special SBI ATM card holder to trigger accessibility mode. They are soon going to change their policy. 6. The current UBI ATM location itself is accessible for many disabled people as its in the campus of BPA and also has excellent tactile markers and signage. 7. I was part of the XRCVC team that visited the BPA Vastrapur facility and I can say with confidence that it has lived up to the XRCVC ATM accessibility checklist requirements, as almost all the criteria have been fully met. In fact based on the field report that we submitted both UBI and NCR have already implemented corrections on the basis of some of our observation. Good show by NCR and UBI keep it up Infact this will be a model which we will be holding up for emulation as par to the Indian bank association (IBA) ATM accessibility initiative. Re: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in an Excel sheet
Hi Zujar I figured out how we can move through the hidden / unfiltered cells using the arrow keys, although be it little tedious for some. You can use control + alt + arrow keys. This will not announce the cell coordinates, but Jaws will read the content. Besides, you can press insert + C to know the coordinates whenever you like. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala Sent: 29 September 2012 21:03 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in an Excel sheet select a cell from each column and press CTRL+SPACEBAR to select these columns. Re: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in anExcel sheet
If you like to select non-adjacent cells / rows / columns, make your first selection and then press shift + f8, after that move to the cells you want to include in your selection and then use the appropriate selection keys. For example, let's say I have already selected column A by pressing control + space and I want to select column M and then column T and column AE. Having already selected the column A, I press shift + f8 to turn on the add selected range mode, after that using either the arrow keys or the go to reference option I move to m1, and then press control space, then move to t1 and press control space again, then move to AE 1 and press control + space. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Mukesh Sent: 29 September 2012 21:05 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in anExcel sheet Go to cell c1 and then press shift key, press right arrow key twice till the cursor come in e1. Re: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in anExcel sheet
Apologies - I missed out to add few more things. It is better to use the go to reference option to move through the spreadsheet while making these complex selections. If you use the arrow keys, you may need to toggle the add selection mode on and off depending on the number of areas selected. Alternatively, if you think you could make it simpler by instructing the computer to select non-adjacent areas using the go to reference dialog box, you can type in your selection separated by a comma. For example, you could press ctrl + g and then type in: A:A,M:M,T:T,AE:AE. This will cause column A, column M, column T and column AE to get selected all at once. -Original Message- From: Syed Imran [mailto:syed.f...@gmail.com] Sent: 30 September 2012 06:39 To: 'accessindia@accessindia.org.in' Subject: RE: [AI] How to select more then 1 column and row simultaneously in anExcel sheet If you like to select non-adjacent cells / rows / columns, make your first selection and then press shift + f8, after that move to the cells you want to include in your selection and then use the appropriate selection keys. wow, that's so simple. Thanks for sharing! -- Regards, Zujar... You can use control + alt + arrow keys. This will not announce the cell coordinates, but + Jaws will read the content. Now press APPLICATION key and select Hide/Unhide. see example below: To hide columns: 1. Place the cursor on cell C1. 2. Press RIGHT ARROW twice to select cells D1 and E1. 3. Press CTRL+SPACEBAR to select columns C, D and E. 4. Press APPLICATION key and select Hide or press CTRL+0. To Unhide columns: 1. Press CTRL+G to open GoTo dialog box. 2. Enter C1:E1 and press ENTER. 3. Press CTRL+SPACEBAR to select columns C, D and E. 4. Press APPLICATION key and select Unhide. Note that you need to select cells in a different way when they are hidden as the cursor cannot be positioned on hidden cells using ARROW keys or the TAB key. You can use the CTRL+G method to select cells irrespective of whether they are visible or hiddden. hope it helps...
