Re: [AI] quire regarding excel
hi, There are two lookups. vLookup and hLookup. it is to find the particular value with a reference of an item in two tables. vLookup for vertical searching and hLookup for horizontal search. Take an example: you have an excel table sheet one with country name in column a and the capital in column b. Assume that this table contains all countries of the world. and has a data from a1 to b200 Now in sheet number 2, if you just type the name of a country in column say c1; and if you desire let excel automatically write the capital of that country in cell d1 In this case, you can use vLookup command. in sheet2, cell d1; you have to write the formula: =vlookup(c1, sheet1!a1:b200,2) now if you change the name of the country in cell c1 of sheet 2, the corresponding name of the capital will be written in cell d1 of sheet2. No change The value of d1 is looked insheet 1 and written at the cell containing the lookup formula. Enjoy. For further more, read help. Subject: Re: [AI] braille BUDGET 2014 Dear Mam You've put in so much efforts in putting things in 'perspective',thank you. Let me put things straight One: Computers are privileged commodities which can't be afford by 90% parents who have blind kids (see World Bank Report on India, 2007). Then Braille becomes emancipating and empowering tool for blind kids who are not in Delhi or Mumbai. two: I wonder why cost benefit analyses should be the responsibility of us, its the constitutional responsibility of the state. Isn't our Disability Act 1995 enjoins government to do so? If books are not supplied on time by government-owned presses, Can't so called disability activists organize sit-ins on the roads? bottomline: meetings and negotiations in AC rooms can not cure emergency situation. 3: practically writing, 'Inclusive education' is attractive 'buzzword' which masque the real discrimination and humiliation disabled children face in such schools which robs them of their childhood then adulthood. West-imported concept replicated in India is neither suited nor workable particularly in rural areas. . such schools cater to the needs of few selective fortunate boys/girls who are privileged enough to manage things on their own cost. four: 'Universal Design' again sounds wonderful, there is no mechanism how to operationalize it. How can I get to know bus-number? how to read which medicine my friend has given me to swallow? and yes how to identify notes? only trust holds the key. Blindness imposes certain limitation and State is obligated to provide greater resources to us. I think there should be syntheses between both Braille and latest technology. And government should work expeditiously to meet the needs of its neglected subjects, Note: majority of blind people are not citizens. On 7/10/14, Kanchan Pamnani kanchanpamn...@gmail.com wrote: Lets start with the fact that Braille is important even today-there is no dispute or difference on this statement amongst us. Now lets see the issues in perspective- 1. We have a problem with texts not reaching the students in time for the academic year.So the government has budgeted for improvement of old braille presses and setting up new ones. Great laudable initiative. a. Has anyone amongst us spoken about the quality of reading by our so called braille teachers? Unless we demand quality education from both inclusive and special schools we are not going to go further. The basics of education for a blind child is braille and I am sorry to see the condition of braille reading in this country. For this we can blame our teachers and for the bad quality of teachers we can blame the NGOs to some extent, who train and certify such teachers. Who is going to bell this cat? The problem of material may soon get over because of this budget but then who is going to use this material and who is going to decipher it for our young ones? b. I cannot comment on the financial issues of running a braille press because I have never gone into that area with any NGO. there are many who can comment on this issue. c. The quality of material churned out by these Braille presses- I cannot comment from my own knowledge but I am told by many people who use these presses that the quality is not so good now because the proof reading is not good enough. d. The issue of distribution, merging with technology and widening the reach of these presses others who deal with these matters can fill us in with. 2. Notes with Braille marking-great initiative on paper This has been in the pipeline for quite a while. a. The possibility of actually being able to distinguish marks

Re: [AI] Announcement at airports: Silent airports
Dear all, I'm a frequent flyer, and i am beginning to notice the concept of silent airpoerts increasing day by day. its terrible if you are someone with a disability, elderly, or illiterate. if you are at Delhi international airport for example each rest bay has 20 sections with just one display board per bay. this is super inconvinient even if you are able to read the display. The bigger issue here is the blatant disregard of accessibility norms. I'm quite upset and will like to know how did this concept lach on and how come the disability rights groups are silent on the issue? What can be done about it? what does everyone on this list feel? appreciate your thoughts, comments and suggestions on the way forward to change this thoughtless and insensitive concept. Re: [AI] queery related to flipkart e books.
Well, no not the way we download in general. However, you can read book offline through app on Androit and Apple devices and through web reader on your PC. The web reader was not accessible at all when i downloaded the book. Jaws used to read Blank through out Then i tried on apple device which helpped me to at least read the book but used to jump in between from middle of the text to first page of the book. As I could not locate the buttons or links to go to particular page. i used to scroll down till the page where i was reading. For your reference, I am pasting 2 questions from the FAQ of flipcart. 1. How can I read the eBooks purchased? Ebooks can be read in two ways. 1. You can install the Flipkart eBooks app available in the Google Play store, Apple iTunes store and Windows store. 2. You can read the eBook online and offline using the the flipkart Web Reader. 3. Kindly log in with the same e-mail id via which you have placed the order to read/download an eBook. 2. From where can I download the eBooks I purchased? eBooks purchased can be downloaded from the Library section on the Flipkart eBooks App and Web reader. Currently you can only purchase and download eBooks only within the territory of India and not available for international countries. [AI] Tata Photon Max WI-FI, performance?
In fact in any type of mobile data, you need to take into account several indicators, for example, the area you reside in, which floor of the building you stay at, how congested is the place you are operating in,sometimes even the timing of the day matters a lot! - Original Message - From: Vikas Kapoor dl.vi...@gmail.com To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issuesconcerning the disabled. accessindia@accessindia.org.in Sent: Friday, July 11, 2014 8:25 PM Subject: Re: [AI] Tata Photon Max WI-FI, performance?
