Hi,

Who is your phone provider? In this case, you have a dynamic address. These
addresses are alocated from a country specific pool therefore you need not
worry. If the problem repeats, contact the bank.

You could get a static IP address but as far as I know, you will have to
change
providers because phone providers do not dsell such addresses.

Hi,

You will need to buy a static IP address from your internet service
provider. If
you have a standard Internet plan then your IP address is dynamic. Who is
your
service provider? Usually, each geography has its own pool.

How to know whether the IP address in question is static or dynamic.

If you're using a static IP address then it's less likely to change
from the ISP end. If you haven't done anything in relation to IP
address then it'd be dynamic, the default and it can change per
session.

Re: [AI] Coral Draw Accessibility

2015-01-07 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Bhavya,

It is unreasonable for the examiner to ask you to use this program given that
the primary nature of the program's output is graphical. What do you need to do?
You could use the vOICe for seeing the images and get an idea of the shape of
what is drawn but that is about it. The trick in such cases is to see if you can
export the corel draw output to a more readable format. Other list members have
already suggested scalable vector graphics and the use of SVGDraw from
http://www.dickbaldwin.com.

If you need to create drawings, you will have to learn to use Corel draw macros
really really fast. This may not be as big an issue as it seems if you know how
to program.

I would see how much this exam matters and then take a call on how much effort I
put into this. It is a non-trivyal problem to solve.
Pranav

I just signed the petition "Microsoft: add a native, fully functional

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

Hi
Difficult to say, because these are not standard protocol. Try taking your
present keyboard to the shop and try it out. You may be for luck, who knows.

[AI] A letter on Louis Braille published in Telegraph today

2015-01-07 Thread avinash shahi
Good write up,way to go.

Will to learn
Sir - Louis Braille's 206th birth anniversary and 163rd death
anniversary were on January 4 and January 6 respectively. Braille was
a French educator who invented the system of reading and writing for
the visually impaired. This system is still known the world over as
'braille'.

Braille became blind in the aftermath of an accident at the age of
three. However, he mastered his disability while he was still a boy,
and excelled in education. He also received a scholarship. Inspired by
military cryptography, Braille developed a system of tactile code that
allowed blind persons to read and write quickly and efficiently. He
served as a professor at the Royal Institute for Blind Youth but spent
a large part of his adult life refining and extending his system. He
believed that access to communication was the same as access to
knowledge.

Even 162 years after his death, Braille is remembered by people the
world over, especially by those who can read and write because his
great invention made it possible for them to do so.

Yours faithfully,

Vijay Dattatray Patil, Pune

[AI] Reforms in teachers' education, 2-yr BEd soon

2015-01-07 Thread avinash shahi
The upcoming academic year will see a slew of reforms in teacher
education such as the introduction of four-year integrated BA/BEd and
BSc/BEd programmes across the country and the discontinuation of MEd
course in open and distance learning centres.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/for-quality-teachers-integrated-course-two-year-bed-programme/article1-1304057.aspx

At a meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, the Centre asked state education
ministers to prepare for key changes that also include extension in
duration of BEd and MEd courses to two years from the current one
year, a mandatory 20-week teaching internship to be eligible as a
teacher and introduction of part-time BEd course during vacations for
teachers who don't have the degree.

The changes, including the introduction of integrated courses and
discontinuation of the MEd one in open and distance learning
institutes, will be implemented in the academic year of 2015-16.

The integrated courses would offer the option of a vocational course
alongside BA or BSc to enhance employability and bridge the skewed gap
between demand and supply of teachers.

The move to do away with the MEd course in open and distance learning
institutes was aimed at emphasising the specialised training and
seriousness required for the programme, secretary (school education
and literacy) Vrinda Sarup said at the meeting. Professor of education
at IGNOU CB Sharma, however, told HT that the decision wasn't a
well-thought one.

HRD minister Smriti Irani, who chaired the meeting, called upon the
states to implement the proposed reforms, including a choice-based
credit system. She also called for another meeting in February to
discuss the proposed New Education Policy. "We want village education
councils, blocks, districts, MPs and MLAs to discuss what our
educational needs are... We should think of the New Education Policy,"
Irani said.

"We don't want orders from Delhi to decide it. We'll come to hear the
people in villages of different regions," she added.

The reforms were passed recently by the National Council for Teacher
Education (NCTE) -- the regulatory authority in the teaching field -- on
the lines of the justice JS Verma commission's recommendations

Rarely Does a team from India become the world champion in something.
In December, India won the Blind Cricket World Cup 2014, defeating
Pakistan by five wickets. The Indian team had no serious support in
the government or sporting circles in the run-up to the World Cup held
in South Africa.

Apathy is something that comes easily to most of us. What
distinguishes the apathetic from the sleazy is the way the latter
changes stripes when it senses an opportunity at patronising something
it was previously apathetic towards, for its own gain. The way
politicians and the media courted the world champions, with photo-ops,
interviews, cash prizes and promises galore was not for love of the
sport, but an act of politically encashable pity, packaged as
compassion. For the powerful, who never lose an opportunity to appear
compassionate, this was a particularly low-hanging fruit. This public
posturing with champions in front of cameras was too fake, too late.
For the team, it was better late than never, even if they saw through
the sudden love.

Ironic is the patronisation that comes from folks who couldn't care
less about disability and whose political ascendency has benefitted
from maiming and killing of opponents, innocents and whistleblowers.
Politicians both in and out of power wanted a piece of the action,
some 'human-face' brownie points for cheap.

This isn't too different from the parading of brave children on
elephants on the Indian Union's Republic Day parade in New Delhi. In
an age when stories of widespread malnutrition among children,
savagery by armed forces, extra-judicial murders and other 'minor'
details sometimes get out in the open, this warm stuff is good for PR
externally and delusion internally.

The public posturing with the blind cricket champions was too fake.

This was also a chance for the media to absolve itself of its lack of
focus on systemic issues -- the everyday hurdles and discrimination
faced by the blind and the 'differently abled', or the fact that India
is home to the world's largest number of blind people and also the
largest number of blind people whose blindness is treatable but never
will be treated. The media focus on Blind Cricket World Cup champions
created an opportunity to discuss how we approach the 'differently
abled'. For starters, we could have grappled with the question -- who
gets to decide for the blind? Almost exclusively, the sighted decide
the boundaries of what the blind can or cannot achieve.

We are happy that the blind team, captained by Shekar Naik, is a world
champion. What do we mean by 'world champion' though, and do we mean
it? We must admit that we don't think this is 'real' cricket. 'Real'
is the game that your Sachin Tendulkar and Mahender Singh Dhoni play
very well and the one that Arun Jaitley and Narayanaswami Srinivasan
play even better.

Then there are what we consider 'feel-good' forms for the marginal --
women's cricket, blind cricket, etc. Which is why when TV anchors
interviewed the blind cricket champs, they asked whether they want to
meet Tendulkar. This 'god' of male cricket for the sighted was assumed
to be the god of all cricket, certainly so to 'lesser' cricket like
blind cricket. At the heart of this constant reference to the 'real'
form is a profound lack of understanding about human abilities and the
many forms it can take.

Blind male cricket is a different game from sighted male cricket. The
rules are different, the abilities that are required to excel are
different. To be good in blind cricket requires superior performance
in ways that Tendulkar cannot achieve in this lifetime just as Prakash
Jayaramaiah, the blind cricket star, cannot achieve the set of skills
that makes one excel in the sighted form of the game.

When the sighted team physiotherapist talks about keeping the team
fit, he means expensive food additives, avoidance of certain foods,
multi-gyms, and what not. The blind team coach frankly admits, given
the socio-economic background of most of his team, it is basic
nutrition (a full stomach) that is a factor that limits his options in
giving too much arduous training. While sighted crorepati champs get
their millions for playing, some blind cricketers have to give up the
wages of their daily wage earning jobs (like catering, etc) to train
and play.

Finally, the blind teams of India and P

Dear Sir,

Do you have the permission password which will allow you to change the

If so, ask the IT guy to create a user security policy with screen

Re: [AI] Coral Draw Accessibility

2015-01-07 Thread Amar Jain
Bhavya,

Corel Draw is basically a graphics designing software, and many use it
for annimations, logos, cartoons, and stuff like that. Photoshop's
cousin brother you can say! Although there is a difference between
these too.

If you have an option of using other softwares to create scalable
victor graphics (which is essentially what it does), then there are
ways to deal with that. But if the practical has to happen on this
one, then take a lab assistant, as it is not accessible (though I
tried long back, but I am sure you can't accomplish everything without
assistance).

Hope it helps.
