[AI] Focus changes in web version outlook

2022-02-23 Thread Minar Singh
Hello there,
Today early morning I had experienced focus change while typing email
ID in web version outlook. I'm using web version outlook in using
google chrome with NVDA 23.3.3 on window11 machine. Focus shifts to
some other element when i had started typing email ID. I have been
using web version outlook since long time but never encountered focus
shift issue. desktop version outlook works perfect. is this issue
belongs to new NVDA update?

Re: [AI] boarding of persons with disabilities in the front car of the Delhi metro

2022-02-23 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Thank you so much for the update. It's good to know that having our details
noted down is up to us. Although if that's always been the case it might
take some time to convince them to stop if we don't want them to.
Referring to your first point I think any of the parties could be
potentially uncomfortable, it would be good if there was a choice. But if
that's the most practical solution perhaps renaming it to include disabled
individuals might help us feel less out of place. Just a thought.
And I don't know how helpful, or counter-productive it might be, but I
always insist on stairs or escalators, and refuse to go in the lift, and
have a conversation with my guide about it on the way if it's the first
time.

Kind regards

Mayank

Re: [AI] UDID cards

2022-02-23 Thread Vetrivel Murugan Adhimoolam
In Tamilnadu, UDID card application was streamlined in DRO offices.
Initially it was taking years to get even the online card generated,
but as someone suggested, it hardly takes few weeks now. Also, DRO
staff are distributing physical cards all over the state by utilizing
the SSA staff of each district. However the district welfare officer
of my district was saying yesterday that although the card was largely
distributed across the state, it's usage has not yet come in to
effect. So there's so much of communication gap between various
governmental bodies in terms of the UDID card and it's usage.

[AI] iPhone tactile screen protector

2022-02-23 Thread Rahul Bajaj
Hi all,

On my iPhone 8, I use the tactile screen protector that is sold by the American
company Speed Dots.

My screen protector has now become very old though, and I need a replacement.
Shipments from the US have gotten lost in transit in the last couple of years
that I have booked. So I am wondering how I might easily get a replacement. Any
leads?

Warmmly,
Rahul

[AI] boarding of persons with disabilities in the front car of the Delhi metro

2022-02-23 Thread Praveen Kumar

Dear all,

Greetings,

You will recall I had filed a case in the high court of Delhi in 2010
for providing online ticketing facility for persons with disabilities
using concessions and received an order in favour in 2012.

This time I had taken up an issue with Delhi metro (DMRC) relating to
boarding of persons with disabilities in the front car designated for
women on Delhi Metro! And others

My concerns were the following:

1)Boarding of persons with disabilities particularly men with
disabilities in the front car of the metro train that is designated for
women. This is a problem as it is embarrassing and also persons with
visual disabilities have to walk for long distance every time to board
the train and time consuming as we plan to reach our destiny on time.

2)Recording personal information including name and mobile number of
people with disabilities travelling on the metro is a breach of privacy.

The following were my solutions:

1) Blind and disabled passengers should be boarded on to the car/coach
nearest to the steps or lift. The staff assisting should call the
station of the destination that they are travelling to inform them the
train number and coach number where disabled passenger is boarded. At
the destination station staff for assistance to reach the train and
coach as mentioned in the communication to provide assistance.

2)Creation of a simple 4-digit helpline number for persons with
disabilities who can call for assistance at any time when they are
travelling in the metro network. This can ensure safety and also respond
to specific needs of persons with disabilities.

3)Immediately stop the practise of taking personal details of
individuals with disabilities travelling on the metro trains and network.

I also had a meeting with the DMRC officials to share these thoughts and
after their analysis I have received in writing a letter that confirms
the following.

In summary as under:

1)Persons with disabilities are boarded in the front car, to ensure
timely assistance in case of any need because an authorized staff( Train
Operator) is available in close proximity. Also, the provision of space
for wheelchair is provided in the first and last car in each train at
all lines. Our procedure has been made with due deliberation and to
ensure safety.

2)There is a dedicated helpline where people can call for assistance:
Any person can seek assistance on dedicated DMRC 24x7 Helpline (155370)/
DMRC Women Helpline (011- 23415480)/ Security helpline no. 155655. The
services to our helpline number is calling party pay basis.

3)Giving name and contact number by "persons with disability" is
optional for passengers to share for their own safety/security and it is
not essential.

In the meeting they also assured that all staff will be sensitized to
give options for visually impaired travellers to either take the lift or
escalator as often we are insisted to go only on the lift but has not
come in writing.

Kind regards,

Praveen

Re: [AI] GoogleDrive help

2022-02-23 Thread Manoj Govindraj
Hi Payal,
Firstly you will click on the Create new button. Then you will click on the
folder button to create a new folder.
Now, you can choose each photo and video individually and click on the Actions
menu next to each of them and then click on Move and choose the newly created
folder to move them there.
Once done, you will click on the Actions menu next to the newly created folder
and then click on details and activity. And then click on manage access
button. Here you will turn on link sharing and change permission from
restricted to anyone with this link can view. Then you click on share, add a
recipient and then click on Send. Hope this helps.

Best,
Manoj

Re: [AI] UDID cards

2022-02-23 Thread Praveen Kumar

Hi all,

The UDID is supposedly to replace existing disability certificates, I
have herd people using the UDID card for free travel already in
Chhattisgarh. Also, herd that The UDID is mandatory for availing bus
pass in Karnataka.

I had to also submit my original medical certificate mentioning complete
blindness that was from a different state to avail the UDID card. The
online registration portal is definitely not accessible for screen
reader users.

There needs to be more clarity on the use of UDID as it is still not
clear what it will be used for, if people must still make additional
cards for transportation i.e., bus pass and train concessions then it
defeats the whole purpose, it is only adding to people running around
for one more card…

At the end people with disabilities end up having layer of cards
including: aadhar, voter ID, PAN, bus pass, train concession a
disability certificate and then a UDID. In reality if the UDID was to
solve its purpose the UDID should be enough for

1) Address proof
2) travel concessions – including bus and train

3) Receiving social security benefits

I remember the CoWin portal had an option to use UDID as an identity,
not sure if any one has tried it?

Kind regards

[AI] GoogleDrive help

2022-02-23 Thread Payal Ki Jhankar
Hi

I don't use Google Drive very often to send things out, usually only
download from links sent.

Today I have to send out a whole bunch of pictures and videos to somebody,
which I have managed to upload from my WhatsApp through the iPhone. Now,
how do I send somebody the link? This particular account of Google Drive
has many other things as well.

I noticed somewhere that I could create a new folder, but, how to get all
of this into the folder? Each time I open the action menu attached to every
upload, it seems like that particular picture disappears. It has always
completely confused me.

Any help on accomplishing this task, and sending out the link successfully
will be really helpful. I have to do it today at the earliest possible. I
would prefer suggestions to do this on the phone, rather than the laptop,
if possible.

Thanks for any help.

Payal

2022-02-23 Thread Kriya Jain
Thank you Ram kumar ji.
Can you please give examples as to which companies are giving mediclaim to
VI?
Star health people are excluding only blind people whereas all other
handicaps are included.

2022-02-23 Thread Kriya Jain
Sorry for the incomplete mail.
Actually I am denied health insurance by star health insurance.
So wanted to know if all companies deny mediclaim to visually impaired
people.
They are providing the same for other handicap though.

Thanks in advance.
