Dear Anjina,

> My son goes to regular school and also reads and writes braille

Yes, I see. Then I will give you one additional and alternative method to lea
rn Japanese using Braille.

This is easy way in one aspect, but not easy in another aspect, because it is
depend on the environment of Japanese Braille learning of your son. So it may
be just infomation.

Learning Braille system of Japanese is not difficult task in generally speakin
g, but it ddepends on the learning environment.

I am long staying at NIVH in Dehradun. So your family happen to be living clos
e to me, then you have certain possibility, but it is very nallow chance in th
is vast country.

It is an aside story. I was born and educated as fully sighted, but I lost my
sight at 22 by accident, and I learnt Braille. After working for governmental
agency in Japan, Now I am retired blind man and dedicating new life in India t
o support young visually impaired students at NIVH and BPA, Ahmedabad.

I understood your problem. At this moment, I don't have good advice to your so

possibility to give you advice later on.

May I ask about your son a little more? Is he studying at ordinary school or s

It may be getting into personal matter, so you can reply me at my personal E-m

Re: [AI] Visually impaired girl escapes accident at metro station

2014-03-01 Thread Saburo Sasada
 Hello Access Indians,

I sympathize deply to hear sad news. Let me put some comment regarding "savety
guard system" on the platform is going on in Japan now which will be better a
ction in India too.

I am long staying in India now and I came from Tokyo, Japan. Railway transport
ation system is the most common in big sities in Japan, and we have been heard
 similar sad news every year.

In a recent a few decades, tactile tile system have been widely installed in m
ajor railway platforms. It is definetely better than nothing though, still sot
ime blind persons fell down or touch with approaching train and died or sivier
ly injured.

Besides the blind persons, certain amount numbers of ordinary sighted persons
kill themselves by jumping in front of a train Sometimes accidentally fell dow
n by faint or walking drunken.

This is a new system called "safety guard platform", or nickname is "platform-
door is popularizing, and many busy railway stations are going on the installm
ent, like everywhere in Tokyo.

Railway platform is like a bridge without any guard fence in the side, and thi
s sfafety guard has fence with sliding doors. The doors are open only train st
op and its door open. Of course it is going on automatically.

The most popular major railway lines have 11 coaches-linked and in the rush ho
urs, every 2-3 minutes interval coming in the station platforms.

This is a very good news for the blind and everybody in Japan.

Some newly built and completely renovated metro lines have this safety guard s
ystem in all staions, and the train operated by one-man which means having no
conductor.

Notes:
The labor cost is high in Japan, then railway company try to reduce the man po
wer.

The minimum price of the ticket is About 75 rupeews.

If you want know more, please contact me.

[AI] A new vocational training course: Japanese Medical manual Therapy

2013-07-12 Thread Saburo Sasada
Dear all,

Let me make an announcement on new job opportunity for visually challenged. My
name is Sasada and the master trainer of this project.

An Introduction to JMMT
(Guidelines for Applicants)

A new vocational training course is introduced at BPA, Ahmedabad on September
this year, and at NIVH, Dehradun early next year. This is a health/medical fie
ld manual therapy courses for one and two years called JMMT which stands for J
apanese Medical Manual Therapy. JMMT originally developped in Japan for centur
ies for the blind people as a substantial job and it has been developped combi
ned with acupuncture, Shiatsu, and acupressure. Dr. Sasada, the major trainer
of this JMMT project, has modified it for global use by combining other overse
a methods, e.g., Chinese, Thai, and western scientific approaches. The followi
ng five principles are specialty of the JMMT.

1. Mind-Body Unity
The mind controls body, and the body also controls mind and this is the human
nature. How to control the mind by the body is the important issue. The therap
y approach is done not only by the analytic way, but also approach by the holi
stic way, in another words, focusing on both microscopic approach and macrosco
pic approach, or medical scientific way and traditional complementary medicine
way. The mind position as the therapist is also the most important and it is
done by following three methods.:

A. Good breathing; Chakra/Dantian Breathing, deep abdominal breathing.

B. Good posture; Focusing body structure and keep good allignment of the spine
.

C. Relaxation of core muscles; For obtaining methods good breathing and postur
e, relaxation of core muscles is important.

2. Developping Talking-Hands
This method is especially designed for the blind therapist. The therapist's co
ncentrates with his/her hands to communicate with the client's body to adjust
for the best effective therapy in dosage, direction, techniques, etc. Developi
ng Talking-Hands means developing healing power. One of the specific methods i
s called "Search-antenna" which is effective to select definite distal points
to giving pressure. One hand touch on painful region, another hand search dist
al region as the transmitter according to meridian theory or kinematic chain.

3. Adaptive Symptoms
The JMMT covers various chronic and acute discomforts such as pain, fatigue, n
umbness, and other discomfort symptoms. It is especially effective recent incr
eacing lifestyle related diseases. JMMT covers various functional diseases but
doesn't cover structural, infectious diseases or traumatic acute stages.

4. Non-oil, Gender-free, Therapy
There is no need for the client to be undressed and just wear relaxing clothe
like a T-shirt and track pants. The therapist does pressure/kneading massage u
sing a cotton cloth, and then it is recognized as a gender-free therapeutic m
anual therapy.

5. Promoting Vocational Independence for the visually challenged
In India, there are a lot of adult blind who lost their sight lately. Therefor
e this is a good opportunity for them as their vocational independent and soci
al participation. The project aims at better vocational independence and empow
erment of the visually challenged in India. This course has no age limit as a
candidate in its eligibility, so every visually challenged is welcomed as long
as having 12th Standard education background, good health and enough motivati
on, please join us.

Remarks
This JMMT project started on Feb. 2013 and is carry on for three years by coll
aboration among four agencies, which are SNESVI of Tsukuba Univ. (Japan) as th
e promoter, Nab and NIVH (India) as counterparts, and JICA (Japan) as the spon
sor.

mobile number until the end of July 2013.

Re: [AI] Introduction.

2013-05-22 Thread Saburo Sasada
Dear Hanumanta Talar and Acsess India members,

> Hi everybody this is Hanumanta Talar! From Mumbai. I studied in Happy Home
> and School for the blind. I have done Professional Massage course. I am
> Totally blind. I Have retina Pigmentoza. At present I am working In Pune at
> Technical Training Institute of PBMA as Massage Instructor comeHostel
> In-charge.

This is nice coincident, so let me also introduce myself as follows.

I am a trainer of Japanese Medical Manual Therapy, JMMT, and long stay at BPA,
Ahmedabad, and work for NAB and NIVH. I am also totally blind and enjoying ch
allenging work with my Indian counterparts.

In Japan and other major East Asian countries, manual therapy, health and medi
cal massage, by the blind is popularizing now, but in India, it is still minor
occupation. There are a lot of demand of health and medical massage in India
and it is very good work for the visually challenged in both ways income and s
ocial contribution.

My project is last for three years which started on February 2013. Now this is
on "Master Training Course" and "One Year JMMT Course" will be start in a few
monthes later in Ahmedabad, and several monthes later in Dehradun.

Let me introduce my teaching/therapy basic concept in three items.

1. Developing "Talking-Hands": The excellent blind therapist have to talk with
the client by his/her hands. Many clients don't want talk about his/her healt
h problem in details. Our hands can reach to his/her hidden ailment parts.

2. "Analytic approach vs holistic approach": Our medical examination is not on
ly done by analytic way, but also done by holistic approach. Many health probl
ems are combined both mind and body, so called, "Mind-Body Unity". In specific
ally it is done by checking stractural and physiological balance/imbalance of
the whole body.

3. Focusing on good posture, breathing, and relaxation: To strengthen our heal
ing power, the therapist has to keep good posture, abdominal (Chakra) breathin
g, and relax in the core muscles.

Inquiry of JMMT is welcomed, please E-mail to me.

Regards,

Sasada (PhD in Acupuncture and Manual Therapy)

2011-12-26 Thread Saburo Sasada
Hello all,

I am a Japanese blind man who is going to live in India for three years from n
ext year. Please let me join "Access India", it is very good for me to learn
about pending issues on blindness in India, and if possible, I would like to s
hare the issues.

I am a trainer of medical manual therapy and acupuncture, and has been teachin
g to blind students for 35 years. For my future collaboration work with NAB/N
IVH in India, I need to learn about the background. It is nonprofit base proj
ect hoping to develop work opportunity for the blind people in India. I know
that it is not easy task, but I will try to do toward substantial results.

I understand that hundreds excellent blind and visually inpaired physiotherapi
sts work in India now. And I would like to get any textbook data of anatomy w
hich is used in physio schools.

If you give me any topics about blind physios in India, also fine with me. Th
anks for your kind cooperation.
