Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC
Hello everyone, Banks should digitised their KYC process properly. Many banks use aadhaar KYC for digital account. Why aadhaar KYC can't use for full KYC, when government is linking pan with aadhaar? If it is not possible, then thumb impression would be the best option. Is there any way to verify someone's thumb impression? Hi I guess, you are blissfully unaware of the impact of your escort signature in your bank system. From what I get from you, you are safe on the digital platform. However, in the physical platform, your escort can withdraw from your account using withdrawal slip. If by any chance, if he has access to your checkbook, again money can be taken out this way. You cannot complaint to anyone about it. If you do, this will be given as an example justifying, why chequebook should not be given to visually disabled persons. I hope you get the correct picture now. Hi Minar I am glad you used the word reasonable before the word accommodation. What you are demanding is surely unreasonable. One should remember we are talking public money and the keeper of this has to exercise adequate vigil over it. Signature is the key by which you instruct the Bank for whatever action. If this is dropped is like breaking down the door to your house. We too should be mindful, before we can make a demand just because we can make one. Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC
Hi Paul, I think you didn't get my point. In my opinion for educated totally blind individuals bank should extent banking facilities even if they cannot sign. RBI guidelines says that bank cannot equate totally blind and partially blind individuals with illiterate people just because they make thumb impression instead of signature. Why we should allow to take control of our situation? I'm against involving relatives or known person in financial matters. Reasonable accomodation doesn't means using fake signature. For totally blind person signature mismatch is a big hurdle. We have to understand everyone's limitation and implement a solution without compromising with the rules and regulations. RE: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC
Dear friends, Reasonable accomodation in banking terms is not to compromise the basic rules of the bank. In that case anyone can easily mislead or misuse the signatures especially relatives / friends and ultimately the responsibility falls on the bank itself. Recently in Canara Bank one such incident took place for a blind person where Rs.45000 was misused by one of his family members. That is the reason why bankers are reluctant to provide all facilities to the visually challenged. Make the bank officials to understand our situation and proceed further. Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC
I think educated Totally blind person should demand for banking facilities without signature also if they are not comfortable with signature. I face signature mismatch issue. I had face challenges but I could resolve them. When we talk about reasonable accomodation in all aspects of life then why not implement here? Bank staf can't equate educated totally blind person with sighted illiterate people. On 6/29/22, Harish Kotian wrote: > Hi > > It is of course legal. Re: [AI] Help with Kotak KYC
personally i found kotak people were so flexible, when i went to bank for changing my address, my escort signed instead of me because they are not happy with my thumb impression even they showed the earlier fake sign available in the record and asked my escort to do the sign similarly. just sharing my experience, even while completing full kyc, they didnt insist my sign, someone done it instead of me.
