Dear Bhushan and others,
We started this discussion about electric shavers for facial use which was
fine and no one had any objection to that.
But when some members started querrying about the same for the pubic area,
that was certainly awkward.

And that is why some members are objecting to such a thread and rightly so.
Let us respect the views of others.
And as was rightly pointed out, the answer to such private querries can be
easily found by a little googling.

I started this querry and would like to thank everyone for their valuable
responses about the facial electric shavers.
I too did some research and have come to some conclusion which suits my
needs, wich I would like to share.
The Philips Aqua touch and Norelco rotary shavers are good for medium and
light beards.
But if one has a thick growth, then the top-end foil shavers do a better
job.
Ofcourse these are expensive but since my work requires me to have a clean
shave every other day, I dont mind investing on a good shaver.

So after a thorough research, I've decided to buy the following shaver:
Braun 799 CC electronic foil shaver.
This is a wet and dry shaver, fully water proof and it comes with a cleaning
machine, so one need not worry about cleaning the blades.

Its for around 25k in India.

A similar model viz. Braun 790CC is equally good but it is only for dry use
and not fully water proof.

This is for around 20k.

But if you have any relative or friend coming down from the U.S, you can get
the 799CC model for around $280 and the 790CC model for around $200.

I had a relative who just came down from the U.S and got the Braun 799Cc
model and I must say its a fantastic electric shaver.
Within 4 minutes I have a clean shaven face and it takes care of the hardest
of stubbles.
I understand its quite pricy but if you are looking for a top-end shaver, I
would recommend it.

Thanks and regards,
And let us please respect the views of others and not make others feel

Hi Vikas, Vamshi
As such, these Phillips shavers really lasts a very long time. The design is
such, it does not require replacement of the blades. There is no other
expenditure really.

On some model, it is possible to clean even the blades, while on other models,
you require special tools to do so and it is done at their service station.

Unfortunately, the blades are not standardised across their model and as a
result you cannot swap parts if you have other models.

If the battery is built in, this would be a factor for it to break down early.
You can consider PQ202 Phillips shaver
It is light, small and has a removable batteries. The motor has a good tork.
You can use a rechargeable battery. It is very easy to clean it up and I had
got for Rs. 1,111 on Snapdeal. The price may be different now.

The placement of the battery is non conventional. It is a matter of getting
used to.

I would recommend this model.

This does not have a trimmer. Actually, it is not necessary to have a trimmer.
I find the electric shavers takes less time to shave compared to the
traditional rasors.

Hi
I have been using electric shaver for at least 30 years. It has not made
any
adverse effect on my skin at all or made the beard denser.

I have used a few of them and found Phillips ones better than the rest.
I

have been shaving alternative days and the pattern has stayed for many
years
this way.

You get them in 2 head and 3 head. It does not matter at all. Similarly,
you
get direct drive that is it runs direct from power source and others
run

from rechargeable batteries or disposal batteries. All of these
combinations
run fine.

I last bought a Phillips shaver a year back. It runs on battery and does
not
come with charger. It is a twin head one and I got it from Snapdeal for
Rs.
1,111. There was some offer running then and its list price was around
1,900. The battery arrangement was non standard and I was almost going
to
return it and checked the battery position on the manual. Other than
that

I
did not find it difficult at all. In fact this model is small in size,
Easier to clean it up. I don't have the model number readily now.

Even if you were to shave weekly, you can still do so on the electric
shaver
as well.

The electrical shaver are rugged and requires no maintaince except the
cleaning up. This too, we can do it ourselves.

Let me add, I do use the conventional rasors occasionally. Therefore, both
the
conventional rasor and the electric shaver are safe to use and it is
only

a
matter of preference.

I would recommend this model.

This does not have a trimmer. Actually, it is not necessary to have a
trimmer. I find the electric shavers takes less time to shave compared to
the traditional rasors.

Hi Arvind

Well, not me. I have tried to trim occasionally using a comb for reference to
trim the bit to ensure, the moustache does not get into the mouth.

I get it done when I go for a hair cut. Moustache does not grow all that
rapidly. Usually, I get it trimmed by a family member.

As such, these Phillips shavers really lasts a very long time. The design is
such, it does not require replacement of the blades. There is no other
expenditure really.

On some model, it is possible to clean even the blades, while on other
models, you require special tools to do so and it is done at their service
station.

Unfortunately, the blades are not standardised across their model and as a
result you cannot swap parts if you have other models.

If the battery is built in, this would be a factor for it to break down
early.
You can consider PQ202 Phillips shaver
It is light, small and has a removable batteries. The motor has a good
tork. You can use a rechargeable battery. It is very easy to clean it up and
I had got for Rs. 1,111 on Snapdeal. The price may be different now.

The placement of the battery is non conventional. It is a matter of getting
used to.

I would recommend this model.

This does not have a trimmer. Actually, it is not necessary to have a
trimmer. I find the electric shavers takes less time to shave compared to
the traditional rasors.

did not find it difficult at all. In fact this model is small in size,

You are not really supposed to use body groomer for facial hair. They aren't as
sensitive as shavers and can potentially damage facial skin.

Hi I'm using Philips bg 2024 body groomer. Basically in this trimmer the head
of the shaver is in 3 parts. There 2 horizontal row of trimmer part and there
is a shaving coil sandwiched between 2 trimming horizontal sides. It zeroes on
to the hair. This particular
model is Actually ment for body hair but I've used it for facial
hair and it does it job. Shave is as close to maq 3 turbo. My shaving head got
damaged in 8 months of the use. I've to replace it. The replacement costed me
600 INR. Never keep the shaver in wash room put it in some dry place, then
shaving head will long last. In this model there is no length adjustment.
Philips claims that the shaver head is pearl coated because of which hair wont
tangle into the shaver. This is partially true.

The general recommendation is to replace the blades after 1 year. But I have
experienced that the blades/spinning heads are not easily available. Besides
the cost of the blades is too high and at times it is better to buy a new
shaver instead of changing baldes.
I am using a Philips electric saver for several years now and still it is
working fine without blade replacement.

What about the longevity of an electric shaver? For example, if we spend
1,500, when is the next expenditure? This is with the assumption that shaving
is done on alternative days.

Hi
I have been using electric shaver for at least 30 years. It has not made any
adverse effect on my skin at all or made the beard denser.

I have used a few of them and found Phillips ones better than the rest. I
have been shaving alternative days and the pattern has stayed for many years
this way.

You get them in 2 head and 3 head. It does not matter at all. Similarly, you
get direct drive that is it runs direct from power source and others run
from rechargeable batteries or disposal batteries. All of these combinations
run fine.

I last bought a Phillips shaver a year back. It runs on battery and does not
come with charger. It is a twin head one and I got it from Snapdeal for Rs.
1,111. There was some offer running then and its list price was around
1,900. The battery arrangement was non standard and I was almost going to
return it and checked the battery position on the manual. Other than that I
did not find it difficult at all. In fact this model is small in size,
Easier to clean it up. I don't have the model number readily now.

Even if you were to shave weekly, you can still do so on the electric shaver
as well.

The electrical shaver are rugged and requires no maintaince except the
cleaning up. This too, we can do it ourselves.

Let me add, I do use the conventional rasors occasionally. Therefore, both the
conventional rasor and the electric shaver are safe to use and it is only a
matter of preference.

Harish.

I have never used a shaver or razor, and always do trimming.
It makes my beard absolutely clean and also doesn't hurt at all.
I use Philips trimmer with model number QT 4005/15
It has 10 lock settings from 0.5 to 10 mm.
Its battery life is also good.
I purchased it from Jabong at the lowest price available on the
internet at that time.

Circular motion is correct way to do it. The hair tends to get stuck only if
the beard has grown a little long.

Alternate day is good to go generally, Probably you are shaving with a longer

What you can also do is to keep the shaver a little more away from the skin to

Hi
Circular motion is correct way to do it. The hair tends to get stuck only if
the beard has grown a little long.

Alternate day is good to go generally, Probably you are shaving with a longer
interval.Try to shaver more oftener and see if the problem persists.

What you can also do is to keep the shaver a little more away from the skin to
start with. Ones the long beard have dot trimmed out, you can get it closer to
the skin.

Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men

2015-02-16 Thread Kotian, H P
Hi
I have been using electric shaver for at least 30 years. It has not made any
adverse effect on my skin at all or made the beard denser.

I have used a few of them and found Phillips ones better than the rest. I have
been shaving alternative days and the pattern has stayed for many years this
way.

You get them in 2 head and 3 head. It does not matter at all. Similarly, you
get direct drive that is it runs direct from power source and others run from
rechargeable batteries or disposal batteries. All of these combinations run
fine.

I last bought a Phillips shaver a year back. It runs on battery and does not
come with charger. It is a twin head one and I got it from Snapdeal for Rs.
1,111. There was some offer running then and its list price was around 1,900.
The battery arrangement was non standard and I was almost going to return it
and checked the battery position on the manual. Other than that I did not find
it difficult at all. In fact this model is small in size, Easier to clean it
up. I don't have the model number readily now.

Even if you were to shave weekly, you can still do so on the electric shaver as
well.

The electrical shaver are rugged and requires no maintaince except the cleaning
up. This too, we can do it ourselves.

Let me add, I do use the conventional rasors occasionally. Therefore, both the
conventional rasor and the electric shaver are safe to use and it is only a
matter of preference.

Harish.

I second that. I've had a similar experience with Philips Norelco electric

Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men

2015-02-16 Thread Kiran Kaja
Some stubble is hard to remove, particularly under the chin. The problem
with the suggested circular motion is that because we can't aim precisely,
we tend to rotate the blade around the stubble. So I use the circular
motions to clear up most of the facial hair and then target specific
stubble. You can also use upward strokes to get rid of very persistent hairs
but use this movement judiciously as it isn't recommended.

Kiran

The model is Philips AquaTouch AT890/20 Wet and Dry Rechargeable Electric
Shaver with Pop Up Trimmer. I think the battery backup is about an hour.
Length of each shave depends on how regularly you shave of course but it is
usually much quicker than 10 minutes. I haven't clocked it precisely of
course. I don't know if I have hard beard or not.

Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men

2015-02-16 Thread Kiran Kaja
I have been using them for 4 years. Skin is fine and no one has told me that
I am any darker (not that it matters to me anyway). I really don't see how
it is different to using a razor. In fact I have noticed that electric
shavers are much safer to use. the one I use is very sensitive and therefore
it never cuts or scratches your skin.

I heard that electric shavers slowly damage and darken your skin
considerably, for how long you people have been using them?

Hahahahaha good topic! Electric shaver has never work for me as I'm to much
lazy to shave my beard. I shave my beard once a week, so I'm using the
conventional razer from zillet. Its name is zillate guard can be found in
local shop within rs 21.
