Dear Bhushan and others, We started this discussion about electric shavers for facial use which was fine and no one had any objection to that. But when some members started querrying about the same for the pubic area, that was certainly awkward. And that is why some members are objecting to such a thread and rightly so. Subject: Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men Hi Vikas, Vamshi As such, these Phillips shavers really lasts a very long time. The design is such, it does not require replacement of the blades. There is no other expenditure really. On some model, it is possible to clean even the blades, while on other models, you require special tools to do so and it is done at their service station. Unfortunately, the blades are not standardised across their model and as a result you cannot swap parts if you have other models. If the battery is built in, this would be a factor for it to break down early. You can consider PQ202 Phillips shaver It is light, small and has a removable batteries. The motor has a good tork. You can use a rechargeable battery. It is very easy to clean it up and I had got for Rs. 1,111 on Snapdeal. The price may be different now. The placement of the battery is non conventional. It is a matter of getting used to. I would recommend this model. This does not have a trimmer. Actually, it is not necessary to have a trimmer. I find the electric shavers takes less time to shave compared to the traditional rasors. I have been shaving alternative days and the pattern has stayed for many years this way. You get them in 2 head and 3 head. It does not matter at all. Similarly, you get direct drive that is it runs direct from power source and others run from rechargeable batteries or disposal batteries. All of these combinations run fine. I last bought a Phillips shaver a year back. It runs on battery and does not come with charger. It is a twin head one and I got it from Snapdeal for Rs. 1,111. There was some offer running then and its list price was around 1,900. The battery arrangement was non standard and I was almost going to return it and checked the battery position on the manual. Other than that I did not find it difficult at all. In fact this model is small in size, Easier to clean it up. I don't have the model number readily now. Even if you were to shave weekly, you can still do so on the electric shaver as well. The electrical shaver are rugged and requires no maintaince except the cleaning up. This too, we can do it ourselves. Let me add, I do use the conventional rasors occasionally. Therefore, both the conventional rasor and the electric shaver are safe to use and it is only a matter of preference. You are not really supposed to use body groomer for facial hair. They aren't as sensitive as shavers and can potentially damage facial skin. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Arjun Malhotra Sent: 16 February 2015 20:07 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. The general recommendation is to replace the blades after 1 year. But I have experienced that the blades/spinning heads are not easily available. Besides the cost of the blades is too high and at times it is better to buy a new shaver instead of changing baldes. For how long do the blades of an electric shaver last? What procedure to remove the blades if required? - Original Message - From: "Kotian, H P" To: "AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerningthe disabled." Sent: Monday, February 16, 2015 4:49 PM Subject: Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men Hi I have been using electric shaver for at least 30 years. It has not made any adverse effect on my skin at all or made the beard denser. I have used a few of them and found Phillips ones better than the rest. I have never used a shaver or razor, and always do trimming. It makes my beard absolutely clean and also doesn't hurt at all. I use Philips trimmer with model number QT 4005/15 It has 10 lock settings from 0.5 to 10 mm. Its battery life is also good. I purchased it from Jabong at the lowest price available on the internet at that time. On 2/16/15, Anshul Kapoor (अंशुल कपूर) wrote: > For long beards, first use a trimmer and then use the shaver. For long beards, first use a trimmer and then use the shaver. I think Philips offer many models which have both the features. I always do the same except that after trimming, I use a conventional shaver. Generally some myths are associated with electric shavers but contradicted by Harish Ji. Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men
Hi I have been using electric shaver for at least 30 years. It has not made any adverse effect on my skin at all or made the beard denser. I have used a few of them and found Phillips ones better than the rest. Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men
Some stubble is hard to remove, particularly under the chin. The problem with the suggested circular motion is that because we can't aim precisely, we tend to rotate the blade around the stubble. So I use the circular motions to clear up most of the facial hair and then target specific stubble. You can also use upward strokes to get rid of very persistent hairs but use this movement judiciously as it isn't recommended. The model is Philips AquaTouch AT890/20 Wet and Dry Rechargeable Electric Shaver with Pop Up Trimmer. I think the battery backup is about an hour. Length of each shave depends on how regularly you shave of course but it is usually much quicker than 10 minutes. I haven't clocked it precisely of course. I don't know if I have hard beard or not. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Mohib Anwar Rafay Sent: 16 February 2015 10:27 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerning the disabled. Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men
Hi, I also use a Philips shaver and am very satisfied with its performance. The only problem that I face is that it often sticks to the stubble and doesn't remove the stubble very smoothly. I apply it over my beard in a circular manner as per the user guide and yet face this problem. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? Hey Kiran, May I know, which model r u using? what do u mean that its battery lasts for 10 shaves? the average time taken for a shave is usually 10 - 15 minutes, it mean its battery backup is near about 150 minutes? Re: [AI] Electric shaver for men
I have been using them for 4 years. Skin is fine and no one has told me that I am any darker (not that it matters to me anyway). I really don't see how it is different to using a razor. In fact I have noticed that electric shavers are much safer to use. the one I use is very sensitive and therefore it never cuts or scratches your skin. -Original Message- From: AccessIndia [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Vikas Kapoor Sent: 16 February 2015 08:48 To: AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issuesconcerning the disabled. Absolutely. I started using an electric shaver about 4 years ago and find is much easier to use rather than a traditional razor. I use a Philips AquaTouch shaver.
