Re: [AI] Experience of scanning through openbook & Lex

2014-03-14 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
Yes I could save it in tiff format, but this format of tiff is not
being recognised by Kurzweil, because I love to study through kurzweil
if the text is clear. Why the software (even demo) version of readit
is not available on their website?

Thank you very much Sakshi. I have upgraded my software. The problem

image of the page by pressing control+w. More over somewhere elequence
voice has become kind of habit to be understood clearly.

Re: [AI] Experience of scanning through openbook & Lex

2014-03-14 Thread Sakshi Agrawal
Hello,
To save in tiff format, follow the given below steps:

Press "CTRL+E", dialog box will open which will show all the scanned pages.
Select "Select All"
Select "Save Images"
Another box will open
Select save as type JPEG, PNG, TIFF or Bitmap

You can see the actual image of the page by pressing "1" and there are other
options also. Lex provides limited magnification features. If you are a low
vision then you should better switch to Readit software as it provides
magnification also.

Sakshi

Re: [AI] Experience of scanning through openbook & Lex

2014-03-13 Thread Amar Jain
Openbook will never work with any other camera device (unless FS
changes that policy) is because when it looks for the connected device
as a camera, it only looks for Pearl which is separately listed in
Device Manager unlike others.

I saw Lex personally, and I can happily recommend it because the
hardware is also nicely made, and software is reasonablly good, packed
with all essential features you need. Use Fine Reader as OCR it is so
far the best especially for people like us for reading legal
materials. But if you need help with Openbook, let me know anytime.

Re: [AI] Experience of scanning through openbook & Lex

2014-03-12 Thread Sakshi Agrawal
Dear Mohib,
I am a user of Lex and would like to inform that:

1. Crash Issues: If you are facing crash issues try upgrading the software
to its latest version 1.4.4 OR your computer can be virus infected.. As it
has never given me any crash problem

2. Saving Feature: You can your complete scanned book in image format like
JPEG, TIFF, PNG. Also in pdf, rtf, doc, docx, txt and MP3. Upgrade your
software.
Openbook/Pearl doesn't provides saving in pdf format or saving all the pages
in image format.

3. scanning Speed: Scanning speed is same whether it is Pearl, Zoom Ex or
Lex. Lex provides motion sensor scanning that it doesn't captures a page
until there is no movement which helps me to properly align the page.
If you wish to scan at a high speed just keep pressing ENTER and it will
immediately scan the page without waiting for the page to be completely
steady.

As per my views Lex is currently the only scanner which provides all the
features and is also very economical. In the Price of pearl I can purchase 2
units of Lex.

Hey mukesh, why don't you scan a page as an image using perl camera
and get it recognise through fine reader. I hope the table will be
intact in recognition results. I tried LexCam to use with open book as
a source of the scanner but it didn't recognise LexCam.
Using LexCam is also good option, tables are properly recognised in a
page scanned through lexCam, but it has its own issues thats why I am
not happy with its over all performance. Say for e.g. it crashes down
while scanning regularly after scanning 20 or 30 or so pages, sometime
if you forgot to save the document, whole labour goes invain. You can
not save images altogether in tiff format after scanning, if you want
to save images you will have save one by one, which is a tedious task.
It never scan more then 10 pages per minute while they claim that it
can scan upto 20 pages per minute.

 Dear mohib
Scanning through open book gives you the same experience as Kurzweil.
Actually, both the softwares use the same scanning engine. viz,
 Finereader and Omni page.
Hope this information is useful for you.
 Regards
 Shakti.
