 We are new to google api landscape, However one of our customer using 
google api in their application and below is its URL.

 While calling above API we are getting error - The remote server returned 
an error: (404) Not Found, seems above URL/service is moved or deprecated.

 So please suggest what is alternate URL/service which help us to achieve 
same which TargetingIdeaService is achieving.

You should be able to retrieve the succeeding or next 700 results in your 
request. That said, could you provide the complete SOAP request and response 
logs, with the requestId, so our team can investigate?

You may then send the requested information via the Reply privately to author 
option. If this option is not available, you may send the details directly to 
our googleadsapi-supp...@google.com alias instead.

In addition, please note that the AdWords API is deprecated and will be sunset 
on April 27, 2022. We strongly recommend that you migrate to the Google Ads API 
as soon as possible.

TargetingIdeaService Paging

Hello, hope you are well,

I'm trying to use TargetingIdeaService to fetch as many suggestions as 
possible for some generic keywords I want to explore.

>From the limits page, I can see there is a hard limit of 700 keyword 
suggestions returned as output per request.

I can also see from the Paging feature of TargetingIdeaService that we can 
provide a startIndex and numberResults to paginate our results.

I seem to not be getting any results though for using values of 
startIndex=700, numberResults=700. Is it not possible to fetch results 
700-1400, 1400-2100, etc?

I'm not getting an error, just getting 0 results returned even though the 
first page of results is the full set of 700.

Based on the documentation on the limits, it seems to imply that the 700 
results limit is per request, if you paginate your results, can you not 
crawl beyond the initial 700 results?

whole UI where we can see the data that you want to get so that we check if

Thank you for the follow up questions. I work with Xiaoming and allow me to 
assist you for now.

The KeywordPlanService should mirror more what is being returned in the Keyword 
Planner than what is being returned by the TargetingIdeaService. That being 
said, could you confirm if your generate keywords ideas results have 
significant discrepancies when compared to the UI's Keyword Planner?

If there are discrepancies, could you share the complete request and response 
logs, with the request-id, and the complete Keyword Planner screenshot? You may 
send these details via the Reply privately to author option.

As for your other question "Does generating historical metrics also change the 
response of "KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas"?", generating 
historical metrics should not affect the results of your generate keyword ideas 
requests.

Thank you for posting your concern.

Could you confirm if my understanding is correct that you want to know if there 
is a way to implement S2S using AdWords API and to get the data of 
TargetingIdeaService? If yes, then I am afraid that this is not possible and 
the type of application supported in AdWords API is indeed desktop and web only.

As for the service account, I am afraid that it has the same concept with 
desktop and web application, the different is that you can only use it if you 
need domain-specific features (for example, impersonation). We strongly 
recommend using installed app or web flows because it is more convenient as 
OAuth2 installed application and web flows require user interaction only once, 
when access to the account is granted.

TargetingIdeaService

Hello, I want to use the TargetingIdeaService, but form a server to server 
connection. I see that connecting service account is only available for Ad 
Manager api, but that does not allow me to use the TargetingIdeaService. 

Also, Ads Api, seems to be only for desktop and web apps. How is the best 
way to implemenet TargetingIdeaService?

TargetingIdeaService returns no Searchvolume

Hey,

we experienced, that some keywords don't return any Searchvolume anymore 
and the historical data was deleted as well.
We experienced this behavior since end of may, with the keyword 
"smartphone" for example.
Do you have any idea, why this is happening?

TargetingIdeaService: "Use the entire site" option

Hello,

Now I am using the TargetingIdeaService to get some keyword ideas of 
websites.

And I noticed that the keyword ideas returned from the AdWords API look 
different from the keyword ideas returned from Keyword Planner, however, 
when I chose the *"Use only this page"* option, it turned out that the 
keyword ideas returned from Keyword Planner look like the keyword ideas 
from the API.

**Note:* the entered domain name is just an example. 


If I understand correctly, the API chooses the *"Use only this page"* option 
by default.

How can I change the option to *"Use the entire site"* from the API?

I tried searching in the other similar conversations, it seems like we can 
put the "includeSubUrls" field to *true* to make the results returned as 
the *"Use the entire site"* option. Is that correct?

However, when I tried changing this option to true, I got

TargetingIdeaService Keyword suggestions do not change by location

Hello!
I'm getting started using the Adwords API TargetingIdeaService to get 
keyword ideas to use for advertising in different locations. I've been 
using the get_keyword_ideas.py file from the client librart, and have been 
getting a significant error that I have been unable to find full resources 
on. 

I set the location of my query through the optional 
locationsearchparameter: 

selector['searchParameters'].append({
'xsi_type': 'LocationSearchParameter',
'locations': [{'id': '2048'}]
})


However my keyword text ideas do not change regardless of the location I set, 
only the search volume changes.

So I receive the same keyword suggestions regardless of location.

Is there a different method of setting location to get local keyword 
suggestions? Am I using this method incorrectly?

The TargetingIdeaService in AdWords API uses a different back end server than 
the UI to generate keyword ideas. Google Ads API results should be closer to 
what you see in the UI. If you want me to take a closer look, please reply

Refine keyword queries with TargetingIdeaService or KeywordPlanIdeaService

Hi,

I'm testing Adwords API and Google Ads API to generate keyword Ideas, but I 
face the same problem with both.

If I run a query with a single keyword "sachets español" the KeywordPlanner 
website only returns 2 results. But if I make the same query via both API I 
got 256 results. I set the same location, language, network and adult 
filters on API and website.

I think the API uses BROAD match type returning more results. I tried to 
wrap the keyword with quotes and then the results returned are 166 but 
still a lot more than the website.

Is there any way to get same results from the API and the website?

You should also see this behavior reflected in the Keyword Planner. If you want 
to find out why these results are 0, I'd suggest reaching out to the product

TargetingIdeaService does not return results for certain keywords

I'm using the *GoogleAds API* with the  *Python* library.

My goal is to get 'SEARCH_VOLUME', 'TARGETED_MONTHLY_SEARCHES' for a given 
keyword.
However, when I'm using the GoogleAds API ( see code below) I'm not getting 
results for certain keywords.
E.g. if I search for 'virus' I get:

Getting All Search Volume Data For TargetingIdeaService

Hello,

I'm developing an application but i encountered a problem.
When i look from UI i'm getting last 4 years search volume data but when i 
try by api with enable TARGETED_MONTHLY_SEARCHES just returning 12 months 
data.
How can i get all search volume data from keywords planner? Do you have any 
suggestion?

Hi Anthony and Team,

Since our last post we've overcome the need for the payload, we were able 
to backward engineer it. So please ignore that request.

...But here is our issue...

We cannot produce the results you see in the original post (which you can 
see here in the screenshot) regardless of the API type (AdWords or Ads 
beta). Both of those endpoints give us the same results both of which are 
NOT what we see in the interface.

Can someone give us direction on how to create this exact result, whatever 
API version, whatever parameters, whatever endpoint? At this point, we've 
tried any number of variations on both API's and none of them produce what 
is in the interface.

further investigate the issue. You can find information on enabling logging in 
the ReadMe of your client library.

Google Ads API. For keyword ideas, the service will be the 
KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas. This guide on this service will 
show how to use the service and what each functionality maps to the Google Ads 
UI.

TargetingIdeaService is returning NULL as SEARCH_VOLUME for KEYWORD STATS

We are using the TargetingIdeaService in order to retrieve search volumes 
for specifics keywords. During this process, we found out that approx 1% of 
our keywords are returning NULL as a SEARCH_VOLUME and also for each one of 
the months from TARGETED_MONTHLY_SEARCHES. An example of keyword returning 
NULL is "barena shop"

   - How should we interpret those NULLs?
   - Is this equivalent of saying that the search Volume is ZERO?
   - Are those cases where stats about the keyword as just not being 
   captured/stored but it may still exist some people searching for them?

So the question remains how do we get the exact same result we see in the 
Google Ads UI. 

Some questions:

- Is this possible with the API (to get the same keywords we see in our 
screenshot)?

- If so what version of the API?

- What parameters and what endpoint would we need to use to accomplish this?

Thank you for the help, and sorry for repeated questions on this. It's 
important that we utilize the same keywords we see in the interface for our 
application/usage.

Thanks a lot Anthony. That helps a lot! But just to confirm, when you are 
inside of the google ads interface, you enter an adgroup then keywords, and 
then you hit "+" plus button, the component you interact with work with the 
ideas service, not the Targeting Idea Service. Is that right?

Can the TargetingIdeaService pull impression share or account status?

I'm working with the TargetingIdeaService to generate potential keywords.

So far I've been pulling data for each keyword such as monthly volume & 
competition. I'd like to also pull information such as impression share and 
if the keyword exists in our account.

Is there a way to pull this data?

As per topic, can someone shed some light on why is this happening? There 
are many more keywords that appeared to be popular but they are null in 
Google AdWords API, i.e. without any search volume data.

Is there a page or explanation to this? How can I get the entire list of 
restricted/blocked keywords?

with test access, you need to create a test account as explained here.  Test 
accounts allow you to try out new API implementations or account 
configurations, prior to implementing the changes in your production 
environment. If you would like to make a call with a production account, you 
need to apply for basic access first by filling out this form.

Hi,

I applied for an API for Adwords API. Got developer token for test account.

Installed and ran setup from SEO gadget for Keyword research directly 
through excel.

When I tried using the function =getAdWordAvg it throws me error 
as TargetingIdeaService Error: Google API Ads Common Lib Auth Token 
Exception: The remote server returned an error (404).

Whats the issue here? 

Should I need to get approved before doing this or test level account 
access developer token is okay?

Or should I apply for basic level access of google adwords api for this?

I installed using this reference link:-

Kindly let me know where is the issue.

In general the targeting idea service will get keyword ideas with the 
production accounts and while using with the test accounts you will receive 
junk data. You could share the complete request and response log to check

How to use TargetingIdeaService (v201809) to get monthly search volume data for specific keywords?

Hi,

I am trying to use TargetingIdeaService (v201809) to get the monthly search 
volume data for specific keywords.

In keyword planner, you can select a keyword such as "italian restaurant 
stockholm" and get the monthly search volume for *that particular keyword*, 
and a bunch of other suggested keywords.

However, in the TargetingIdeaService API, I can so far only see that I get 
the list of suggestions, but not for the particular keyword itself.

Is there any setting I can change to get the monthly search volume data for 
*the 
specific keyword * that I sent to the API?

API limits for TargetingIdeaService

Considering the suggestion, we have increased the number of seed per 
request to 200 for Keyword ideas and page size as 800. But when I increase 
seeds above 100, the output of the idea is reducing. PFB the test results.

Below are the results and counts

Run 1:

Page size = 800

No. of seeds per request = 100

Keyword idea count = 4030

 

Run 2 & 3:

Page size = 800  & 500

No. of seeds per request = 150

Keyword idea count = 2743

 

Run 4:

Page size = 800

No. of seeds per request = 200

Keyword idea count = 2023

On analyzing the results of Keyword ideas, there was a difference in the 
number of keyword ideas generated. Could you please check why there is a 
reduction?

Please find my response to your queries below for further clarification.

Yes we are doing this work against our test API account (I assume you mean the 
API is in test mode): By making call against the test account means you are 
making an API call against the accounts that are not actually serving ads. 
Please refer to this guide for more information related to the test accounts.

However, you say 'keyword ideas might result in junk data'...does 'might' mean 
that we will never get a proper response for keywords in test mode? It would be 
good to know what to expect (and not to expect): Yes, you are right. When using 
the test accounts, the TargetingIdeaService will return dummy data for keyword 
ideas.

If we always get junk back for keywords using the API in test mode...how do we 
test that our code is working as designed? How do we verify functionality prior 
to going to production? When retrieving targeting ideas against a production 
account, you will be able to compare the results to those from the Keyword 
Planner as mentioned here.

Could you form up the SOAP request as you've been generous enough to do the 
last two times we've asked? The resource you provided are helpful, and we'll 
use them however our code is in go and it would be really helpful to get the 
properly formed SOAP if you could provide it: The SOAP request call made 
against the test account looks perfect. The similar SOAP request shared for 
investigation could be used to make calls against the production account to 
retrieve the targeting ideas. If you have difficulty making calls to the 
production account, please share the complete logs along with the client 
customer id privately for me to investigate further and assist you better.

few more questions and asks:

I've expected, that it'll return the same objects, but with understandable 
texts. That adding like "ca633710" looks too weird. When I send it to my 
Google AdWords ad group keywords, they are added but with "Low search 
volume" status.

There's an example

good response, but there's no raw SOAP request, that I can try to send.
What I'm doing wrong? And maybe you can provide me with the right SOAP

Hello,

Based on the details shared, it looks like you're receiving an error with the 
rate scope as Account. This indicates that application is making a high number 
of requests per second on a single AdWords account. You could wait at least the 
amount of time specified in the retryAfterSeconds and retry the request again. 
Please note that the API call might still fail as the rate limits are not based 
on a constant QPS and are subjected to change. When you retry the requests, 
your application should use an exponential backoff policy which helps to make 
sure that you're not calling the API too aggressively. This guide has best 
practices that can be implemented to handle the rate limit errors. Please take 
a look at the system limits guide for the TargetingIdea specific limits.

ERROR: retryAfterSeconds=30 in TargetingIdeaService get petition

I've an array of N keywords and I'm looking for the average monthly seach 
of each one. The length of this array is always greater tan 700 (which is 
the limit size of the collection given to 'queries' for each call to this 
petition) so I had to split my array in X parts to create subarrays with 
length < 700. Then I looped throught those arrays and made as many calls to 
the API as subarrays I got.

The problem is that I'm getting this error:

trick.

AVERAGE_CPC value is not coming same for TargetingIdeaService API results and Web UI results

Hi Support team,
AVERAGE_CPC value is not coming same for TargetingIdeaService API results 
and Web UI results.
if i search "india" in  web ui i got avg CPC value $1.00

but through API the value come as AVERAGE_CPC as 592104

How can I get the same value through API same as UI.

Hi Josh,

Considering the above idea, we have increased the number of seed per 
request to 200 for Keyword ideas and page size as 800. But when I increase 
seeds above 100, the ideas output is reducing. PFB the test results.


Below is the results and counts

Run 1:

Page size = 800 

No. of seeds per request = 100

Keyword idea count = 4030

 

Run 2 & 3:

Page size = 800  & 500

No. of seeds per request = 150

Keyword idea count = 2743

 

Run 4:

Page size = 800

No. of seeds per request = 200

Keyword idea count = 2023

On analyzing the results of Keyword ideas, there were difference in number 
of keyword ideas generated. Could you please check why there is a reduction?

targetingIdeaService results are not matching with Keyword Planner Tool

Hi Google Support Team,

We are using AdWords API (targetingIdeaService) from the last few months 
and the results of this API used to match the previous version of the 
Keyword Planner Tool. Since the release of the new Keyword Planner tool, 
the results are not matching. 

Then we implemented the new Ads API (keywordPlanServiceClient) hoping it 
will match the results of the new Keyword Planner Tool, but these also not 
matching.

Now we feel that both of these API's keywords are not as relevant as it 
used to be with the old Keyword Planner tool.

Please advise us on which API to use which gives us quality, relevant 
keyword ideas and matching results with the new Keyword Planner tool.

TargetingIdeaService, difference between API results and Web UI results

Hi,

I'm experiencing a big difference between API results and Web UI results 
from Keyword Planner, in particular working on brands.
>From my previous ticket (Include brand name in results calling 
TargetingIdeaService) it's clear that is not yet possible use brand search 
with API, however using API for brand search and Web UI (without flag 
"Include brand names in result"), I found big difference in results.

For instance, looking for brand "Sephora" with language Italian (see below 
selector), API returns zero result, still Web UI same values (using the 
same IEADS request of API), similar results using for example other brand, 
gaggia, lavazza and illy.

Difference is very big, so, is my call not correct? Why there are similar 
differences?
