I think they come from solar farms. They must replace whole sections if they get damaged, or something like that. A lot of them say they have the labels removed, so they can't be used for grid-tie, but for off-grid projects, I can't see any obvious reason why it'd be a bad idea, other than that they're presumably going to have a shorter lifespan than new ones. Is it age from production, or age in use? I assume the shelf life is indefinite. Aside from technology change, is age a matter of elemental exposure or is there components that degrade? The max on the quantity was 27 I think. And the shipping cost was not that much more. So the shipping probably jumps when you fill one full pallet. Snail tracks are breakdowns in the sub strait I have a bunch of old panels I got with a house I bought and are covered in snail tracks. They still are outputting within 5% of spec. Yep, that is how it is done. Special cabinet. I don’t recall the type of light. I built one once based on a spec, NIST or someone. It was a big ass light I do remember that. I think it was an arc light perhaps. You had to do things to make sure there was uniform illumination etc. We were characterizing factory seconds that we got by the truck loads. There must be a way... My Father-in-law works at a lab at Cornell where they wanted a number of panels with all exactly the same efficiency for a research project.
