Hello voda,
sorry, cannot reproduce here on SuSE 9.2 using m89.
Does the problem persist for you with the latest snapshot build?

Something "ALPHA1" sound a bit bad to me because it is never used anywhere else
(i.e. in no other language).
What is used is "ALPHA" for the capitalized letter and "alpha" for the
non-capitalized one. It is the very same fpr all western languages and I think
it is also that way in at least one Asian language.

The problem behind: The registration for the extension txt is ambigous. So the
results are not realy clear. Because the calc text filter is not registered for
the type
"writer_Text". But this type is detected as the preferred one. So the detection
returns the type "writer_Text" and the "Text" filter ... but it's not accepted
outside
the detetection ... because the filter does not match the right factory.

I've improved the detection with preselected factory so it works now as
aspected.
BUT: "Insert Sheet From File" with a file using an unknown extension (e.g.
"*.cxx")
doesnt work. Because the calc module cant detect text based formats by it's
content. Such format's are detected only flat by using the right extension! And
that
can be fixed only by the calc deep detection itself.

m87 is the latest aivailable release, so i tested this on m87.
still reproducible.

try enabling extrusion and opening additional dialogs from extrusion toolbar.
after a toolbar opens, click on some button (depth, direction, lighting)
without
moving the toolbar first.

now, here is unconsistent behaviour, in some cases this newly open dialog is
closed, in some it stays open (mostly it's closed, but after clicking around
for
a while they stay open now and then)

on m87 this is reproducible quite reliably.

A file was sent to me containing a chart that does not display correctly in OOo
1.1.4 or in the 2.0 beta running on Windows 2000 or Linux (Mandrake 10.1).
Correct display is defined by Excel 2002.

I do not know how to include the file in the report. I have it if you are
interested.

The way the page, particularly the fonts looks very bad on my system if I have
the Stylist open. Actually, it really depends a lot on how large the OOo window
is set and subsequently how large the text area is. It's hard to explain so I
will attach a couple of pngs. Maybe this is a system video issue but it sure is
ugly. The main problem is that if you have the zoom and window size set in
certain ways you don't get a very good idea of what the printed output will look
like. Sort of what-you-see-is-only-sort-of-what-you-get.

System: Dell P4 1.5 GHz, 256MB ram, Nvidia card using the proprietary driver.

i think we should patch this bug faster ,for malicious attacker can send other
people a malicious .doc document, and maybe cause arbitrary code excute. of
course, we should alert OOo's user to update their software to defeat malicious
attacker.

I don't think this is a Writer specific issue. It's a general OOo issue.
So please change the component accordingly (IMHO to framework). Thanks.

The current behaviour is really suboptimal. RegExes would be MUCH more useful,
if one could address matched subexpressions in the replacement string.
When this feature is implemented, issue 46015 (Support for less greedy RegExes)
would make more sense, too.

Prior to hitting Ctrl-C to terminate soffice, a tail on soffice.log produced

Have run with snapshot as requested. strace output to follow.

I do not know what else to tell you about the clearcase views or the MVFS
filesystem. I only use clearcase -- I'm not familiar with its internals. If
you have specific questions, I may be able to track down answers for you.

For what it's worth, one bit of info I can tell you is the mvfs filesystem is
implemented with a kernel module (mvfs and vnode). One of these (mvfs, or
vnode) is built during the installation of clearcase.

Here is the output of lsmod:

As the Editor in Chief of Novell Connection magazine, I live in OpenOffice and
edit all day long. The editing features need to be enhanced but one thing that
could EASILY be done is to make that tiny yellow bar icon BIGGER when someone
inserts a NOTE in the document. It's not easy at all to see those tiny bar
icons when scanning for notes. It's not always easy to mouse over them either.

Better yet, allow me to set the properties of that icon: size, color, blinking,
graphic, etc. If I could set those properties, I could see them more easily and
I could mouse over them more easily too.

STEPS:
Insert | Note | enter text | OK. Notice the tiny yellow bar. Us color-blind
folks have issues with tiny things like that. Make it easy on us!

It should be more obvious that I can edit the red word in the upper box in the
Spell Checker before I replace misspelled text with it. In previous versions, I
was able to edit a word on the Word line and then click Replace. Now, it's in
the actual sentence while it's red. Place a note such as "You may edit the text
below and click Change." above that text box, not just "Not in dictionary."

STEPS:
At a blank screen type asdf, move the cursor in front of it and press F7.
The Spell Checker highlights as misspelled and puts it in red in the top text
box.
It doesn't state anywhere that I can edit that red word. Unless I tried it
(because I knew from previous versions) I would have never known. In fact, I
added this bug and had to change it when I tried to edit the red word.

I am unable to save a file that is a soft link to another document in the same
directory. When I save, I get the error "Could not create backup copy". I have
turned off automatic backups in the options. The following steps reproduce the
problem:

1. Create a one line document and save it as /tmp/a.sxw
2. Create a hard link and soft link to the document using commands "ln
/tmp/a.sxw /tmp/ah.sxw" and "ln -s /tmp/a.sxw /tmp/as.sxw"
3. Open the soft link file with the command "ooffice /tmp/as.sxw". Add a line to
it, save. Notice the error dialog. Exit application, which will give warning
about discarding modifications. Verify that the added line is not in the
document.
4. Follow the same steps using the hard link. Notice that changes get saved.

Why I need this to work: Without this, I can have soft links to documents on my
desktop that I can access easily.

#40750 seems related in that it gives the same error message but this does not
involve mounting so I am assuming it is different.

I have a table with 100 rows, 2 columns.

The values which I put in the *first* row, on the first page, that value is
showing up on the *first* row of *every* page...

This is getting quite annoying...

I started with an empty Drawing file and noticed these problems with connectors.
It's a connector related issue that I cannot find described in other issues.
This one is in Draw, but it may be the same issue as 37279 (for Presentation),
which was closed as not reproducible/insufficient info. I'll include the .odg
file (need to figure out how to include, but they will follow...).

I have before (ConnOK.png) and after (ConnBug.png) exports to show the effect,
also (ConnFix.png) to show how the opposite endpoint of the bottom two
connectors jump to another glue point when correcting the top endpoint. That's
possibly a different bug, but may be related. The one into the top of the
summer (circle w/ "X") also misbehaves when relocating it's top endpoint.

Note also the connector coming from the parallelogram, after save/open, it's
connected to the "outside rectangle's" glue point, not the parallelogram's.

I upgraded to OOo 1.9.87 because of other crashes, but had the same problem in
1.9.79 (OOo 2.0 beta). Thanks for a great product!

Doug

Confirming issue with m90

Two solutions:

1) Easiest:
   add "Requires: openofficeorg-impress = %version" to the draw-rpm

2) "real" solution
make draw work even when impress is not installed

(It crashes when I right-click on the page)

Appologies for not responding to this bug. I do make a point of responding to
all bugs I've entered, but this somehow slipped through the cracks.

Anyway, the bug seems to be fixed in OOo-1.9.87. I just tested printing to most
of our printers ( Ricoh AP3200, Ricoh AP2027, HP 4500, HP 4050, Ghostscript PDF
writer ) and it prints perfectly.

Crash is not reproducible with m90

>probably print preview related

Yes, seems related since it opens in print-preview and I read about crashes in
when switching to print-preview.

Please check whether it still crashes when you disable [ ] restore editing view

I agree that this is the same as 46093. Problem is that the summary and detail

Also we need more solid info on this passage you have written above.
As you are more familiar with the software than us, i would kindly ask you to
provide relevant info on this.

"On Linux (and other Unix based systems), views are implemented with the MVFS
file system. Setting a view causes one of these file systems to be mounted (not
sure if they actually use the linux 'mount' command), after which you can see
all the files in development stream. In our case, the actual storage of the
files is on a Solaris based system. The MVFS file system is therefore a view of
the remote development stream. I'm not sure how they do this over a network,
perhaps they use NFS in conjunction with MVFS?"

Gtk+ provides several input methods. In gnome apps one can easily switch between
the various input methods by right-clicking the text-editing area and choosing
the im from the contextmenu.

As OOo 1.9 already uses the GTK+-input method (can tell this from the set of
available compose-sequences) it would be nice to be able to choose between the
available ones just like in every other application (instead of having to close
OOo, set an environment variable and start OOo again).

So add a way to switch between the input-methods on the fly, preferably using
the contextmenu, as other applications do.

I can't believe OpenOffice made it to version 2 and still doesn't have a proper
regular expression replacement feature. No offence intended mr andrewb, but this
IS a DEFECT not an ENHANCEMENT. Who came up with the pointless backreferences
"FEATURE"? WHat were they thinking?

2005 ---
I recently updated a multiuser installation from 1.1.0 to 1.1.4 on a Debian
Linux box. The files $HOME/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/dialog.xlc and
$HOME/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/basic/script.xlc did not get modified to reflect
new paths. All the paths in Tools -> Options were fine. It would be very handy
if the script.xlc and dialogs.xlc files were modified at update time to avoid
the annoyances described below.

As root, I began the install using "setup -net". For the network part this was
a clean install. The old version was in /usr/local/OOo/OpenOffice.org1.1.0.
The new version was installed to /usr/local/OpenOffice/v1.1.4. There were no
site wide customizations I was worried about preserving.

I mv'd /usr/local/OOo to /usr/local/OOo.old. I want to rm the whole OOo.old
tree eventually but am keeping it until I am certain there is nothing worth
preserving.

I didn't want to lose my personal customizations, though, so the workstation
part of the install upgraded my existing setup in $HOME/OpenOffice.org1.1.0.

After the upgrade, the first time I saved any word processing or spreadsheet
document, whether a modified existing doc or a new one, I received the following
error:

--begin error quotation
Error loading BASIC of document:
file:///usr/local/OOo/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/share/basic/FormWizard/script.xlb/:
General Error.
General input/output error
---end error quotation-

Clicking OK, I immediately received another error, identical to the above except
that "FormWizard" was replaced with "Template". This repeated through "Tools",
"WebWizard", "Schedule", "Gimmicks", "ImportWizard", "Euro" and "Depot", then
ran once more through the same sequence. Once all the errors boxes had been
dismissed, the files saved. Any subsequent saves of a document behaved
normally. If OpenOffice were closed and restarted, the same little game had to
be gone through.

I checked paths in Tools -> Options and there was nothing that pointed to the
old site installation directory. Googling I found reference to
$HOME/ Options had been
correctly modified. Why not change these two files as well ?

Note that within this issue tracker, there is no valid mime type for EPS image
files, that is why the attachment is incorrectly coded as being
application/octet-stream. And yes I tried using the "other" radio button but
that did not work.

I retested with OpenOffice.org 1.9.87 using the test.eps sample. (i.e. create a
new file, insert picture from file, select that test.eps file.) I also tried
opening the eps file in Irfan (free graphics viewer program), and Irfan gave the
error message "Irfan can only read EPS files with a TIF/WMF inside. Try with
Ghostview." So - the question is whether Open Office will try to render
contents of an EPS that does not contain a preview? Note that when a PDF is
made from the .doc file, it does NOT include the actual graphic, only a
placeholder.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 45457] Make it possible to embed fonts when saving presentations

Of course, there is the issue of who owns the fonts.

I'd imagined that Ooo would only embed fonts it supplied, 'cos I don't think
there is any verifyable way to identifiy what is licenced.
