Could you please test this issue in the newest version 2.0.1? I couldn't
reproduce it when changing the form binding in the slave form. We had some
problems with views in the hsqldb but that should be fixed. hsqldb version
1.8.0.3

[dba-issues] [Issue 53377] Creating a form for a mul ti table query does not allow updating

Hi Ocke,

Is the issue really fixed if you can only edit one table ? I mean, assume I do
what was described in the issue to reproduce the problem, will I be able to
enter data into the resulting Table GUI or not, or only in those fields that
belong to the table on the left ? In that case, it is, I feel, of little use to
me, since I could just create a separate query for updating separately the left
table. I know that this means more work for you :-(, but I don't see how opening
a new issue is going to help when this issue isn't actually fixed.

If I've misunderstood anything in anyway, please feel free to correct me.

Alex

Yes, you are right, that doesn't make sense, just to allow the update of only
one table. So if the column part of the select stmt contains all key columns of
the second table as well, the 2nd one should be updateable as well. Correct?

Sorry if I jump in, but I' very interested in this thread because I mostly use
one-to-many queries with inner join and if I cannot update all fields of the
resulting table, that query is useless for my purposes.

We have tested the /share/template/wizard/letter/km/bus-elegant_l.ott file from
2.0.1 using 2.0... and it works, and then the 2.0 equivalent file in 2.0.1, and
it fails. In theory the file has not changed between these two versions.

It does seem to be a regresion in 2.0.1

There is not much more I can do. Who can I reassign this to?

Or should we close it? I do believe that it is a duplicate of issue 59759,

but not of of issue 59738, that is quite different.

Hi shmuelh,

i finally found the time to play around with Macro Express. I installed the 30
day trial and recorded a macro that creates a document, inserts some text,
modifies the text, saves it and finally closes the office. I had no problems at
all - everything worked like a charm on playback.

Can you please try your luck once again?
For now i set the issue to WorksForMe and close it, please note that we can
reopen it at any time if you still encounter problems.

Hi terrynorth,

thank you for supporting OOo.

I can confirm the issue, in fact it is an old one - for some reason we cannot
cope with macros from older installations, migration fails. The recommended
procedure is not to migrate any personal data or even better to deinstall the
1.x office in advance.

Hi jimwg,

there are countless problems when working with the macro recorder - in fact it
is barely usable. :-(

Could you please attach the macro so i can see which actions have been recorded
and which ones are missing? In case i find regressions we might be lucky they
get fixed otherwise this is a no go.

Hi,

it would be nice, if one could scroll page-wise with the mouse-wheel, e.g. by
holding Shift while wheeling. Mozilla has a configuration option for this
and all KDE and KOffice applications support this as well.

Thanks for considering this,
Carsten

Hi freemant,

thank you for suporting OOo! :-)

I think this is quite a common behavior, please refer to the MSDN Terminal
Server FAQ:

Short: Run the setup when logged on to the Terminal Server or switch to
Administration mode.
As Microsoft faces the same problem i invalidate the issue.

[framework-issues] [Issue 8857] Bad DBF file identificatio n?

This issue is also ms_interoperability :
My uncle uses an export to MS Excel function of the proprietary program
CC-WinFaktura which is
part of CC-WinClubOffice. It produces a *.DBF file and opens it, which opens
openoffice.org, but
then openoffice.org fails to read the *.DBF-file in calc and only reads it as
ASCII in writer.

I will attach ccwin.dbf, an anonymized version of such an exported file. It has
its header length wrong:
It has the value 0x562 at offset 8. If I modify this to 0x561 (the location of
0xD + 1), it opens fine in
openoffice.org. Other programs, like Microsoft Excel, or dbf-0.8.3
(http://developer.berlios.de/project/
showfiles.php?group_id=1219) have no problems with the unmodified version.

I propose that this issue is re-opened, so that in the future openoffice.org
reads *.DBF files even if they
contain an invalid header length.

There is a numbering/bullet which controls the alignment of the number/bullet
(in Format / Bullets and Numbering... / Position / Numbering Alignment).

This setting is Left by default, which is correct for Left to Right (LTR)
writing direction. However for RTL direction, it causes the number or bullet to
be aligned tightly against the text, which is not a desired default.

When a document is started in RTL direction, then clicking the Numbering or the
Bullets buttons starts a list with correct alignment (ie. number/bullet aligned
to the right). However, under the following circumstances a numbered/bulleted
list is started with the incorrect (Left) default:

1. When AutoCorrect recognize a list.
2. When a document is started in LTR direction, and later in the document the
direction is switched to RTL.

Suggested solution:

When a numbered/bulleted list is started (whether by the user or by
AutoCorrect), the Numbering Alignment should be set depending on the direction
of the paragraph. If in LTR then alignment should be Left, if in RTL it should
be Right.

Notes:

Issue #32203 discusses this problem and claims it was fixed. However the fix
only applies when the document is started in RTL direction.

Issue #51510 discusses only the AutoCorrect aspect of the problem. I mention the
same problem here for sake of completion.

This is a general catch all for any Error loading Basic of document
errormessages.

The message is displayed when an OOo 1.x has been upgraded to OOo 2.x. In this
case the path to the basic scripts is unchanged pointing to the invalid old
installation directory of the 1.x version.

The clean solution is to completely removing the 1.x installation before
installing the new 2.x.

In Right to Left (RTL) writing direction, numbered/bulleted lists incorrectly
apply indentation on both sides of the text.

For example, if a bulleted list is indented 5 centimeters from the right margin,
it is also indented by 5 centimeters from the left margin. The result is that
deeper outline levels only allow a few words before the line wraps.

It's easier to understand with an example - see attached document.

Created a meta-bug for this. We have countless incarnations of that problem
mostly resulting in an Error loading Basic of Document error

Test case:
- Open any OOo window (by opening a OOo document, or an application from the
menus)
- Open a windows explorer window (via the Start menu for example)
- From within this explorer window, open an OOo document, by double clicking it
= OOo will open a new window. This window will appear behind the explorer
window, instead of in front of it.

I have seen this behaviour both on windows 2000 and XP (SP2).

Sometimes this also happens with the first OOo window I open from an explorer
window. But this is harder to reproduce. The first window opening behind the
windows explorer window seems only to happen the first time I use OOo after
booting. When I close OOo, and try again, the first window pops in front, but
the test above still showcases the strange behaviour.

- create a new spreadsheet
- resize column D to 50 cm
- select a cell in column C
- press the right arrow to select the adjacent cell in column D
- watch the horizontal slider : the thumb fits, i.e some space is left right and
left
- press the right arrow again, a cell in column E is selected
- press the left arrow, the cell in column D is selected again
= wathc the horizontal slider : the thumb fits the entire slider area.

This is a bug to be fixed.
1) It should make no difference if you come from the right or the left.
2) The thumb should be smaller than the slider area if there is something to
scroll

The attached file Test2.xls does not show column A after being told to do so.
Steps to reproduce:

* Open Test2.xls. You should be on sheet Beiträge_Spenden.
* Select all cells by clicking on the top left corner of the sheet
* From the menu, choose Format-Column-Show

Observe that even though cells of column A can be selected with the arrow keys,
they are never visible
(you can't scroll there), unless Window-Freeze is deselected.

(By the way: is it possible to unhide column A without unhiding all columns? It
should!)

tested in OpenOffice.org 2.0 for Windows and NeoOffice 1.2 Alpha

again: It is not a problem of missing directories in the package. If that would
be the case, everyone would get these messages. Adding the directories would
only be a (bad) workaround.

The real solution is to solve the problem itself, not to hide the symptoms. The
problem here is migration of old settings during first start of the office.
This import apparently doesn't take enough care of versions build by
distributions (the path the error shows never was part of official OOo).

So what needs to be fixed is the stuff that reads and merges the configurations.
For this to be easily achieved, we need a reliable way to reproduce the error.

So please try to create step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce. Start
with uninstalling OOo, remove all configuration-directories (if you made
setting you intend to preserve, make backup-copies) (look at ~/.openoffice* and
~/OpenOffice*). Then install the official version. (just to verify that you
don't get the error when you freshly install OOo).

Remove the official version again and install the version you had previously
installed. (launch it, close it)
Then update to the current version as you did when writing the issue. Launch OOo
 - do you get the error? - if yes, then we have a way to reproduce.

Yes, I did all my tests with KDE 3.4.2b. KDE 3.1.4 is probably too old.

I will determine now the exact minimal KDE version, assuming it is the one
which introduced the method KABC::Addressbook::allAddressees().

I have confirmed this issue with versions 109, 125, and the current version as
of 12/30/05. The problem is that the autofilter result list does not update
upon filtering like Excel does. To demonstrate, run the autofilter and click
the combo box for column 1 and select a filter criteria. Now, click on the
combo box for column 2 to further filter this list. Now, if we were using
Excel, the list of options would be limited to what remains in the filtered
portion, not the entire list which is unfortunately what Calc does. For small
spreadsheets this is not a problem. But when working with a large spreadsheet
and you want to see what options for column B remain after filtering by columns
A (in which case you would only need to look at what entries are in the combo
box for Column 1), you will not be able to do so without manually skimming the
cell entries. This should be a relatively easy fix, but one that I feel needs
to be done. Thank you for your help

Robert

That's rather strange. first version after 18 december 2002 was KDE 3.1
(released on 28 January 2003). SO KDE 3.1 should be young enough.

KDE 3.1.4 is dated 16 September 2003, almost 9 months after.

Can you please do a rpm -qa | grep kdelibs-devel on your test machine to
double-check this version number?

please split this issue into the relevant pieces.
THis is a collective issue and thus cannot be handled properly, furthermore it
is quite outdated already.

* Version number is there, although not end-user-frienldy, this is issue 58850
* build-number: Is not of any interest for the home-user, can be accessed using
  the key-combo if necessary.
* copyright notice: already there
* license: not easily done since there might be multiple licnenses involved.
Feel free to file a seperate issue for that.
* patch-number/simila: This is already accounted for. The version-string already
contains the variable PRODUCTEXTENSION that is filled in when there was a
patch installed (which don't exist at the moment anyway)
* general-environment-info? What should this be good for? IMHO this only bloats
the dialog without providing actual information. But again feel free to file
a seperate issue for that. Same for detailed environment info. What should
the use do with that info?

Just see the about dialog from about every current gnome/gtk app.

Please file a seperate issue for the request of being able to select/copy the
text. These tasks are so differnt implementation wise, so they should be filed
and handled seperately.

Googles Dialog is a good example? Do you want OOo to show every setting you did?
Please don't compare apples with bananas

Same goes for the addons. That's why you have the package-manager and the
possibility to install a menu-item in the help-menu for the addons. The addon is
responsible for showing a version info/product details. Furtheremore there is no
versioning of addons yet. Please file a seperate issue.

The same for the report an issue button. This should not be in the
about-dialog IMHO, but if you thing OOo needs one, again please file a seperate
issue.

And: The version field is not to be set to the current version, but to the
version the bug/issue was first discovered/reported with.

A collective issue cannot be handled properly, therefore removing rfe_eval_ok
keyword.
Removing ENH-DEF keyword as well, since that is only for
CollabNet/SourceCast/CEE related stuff.

So please split the issue into the relevant pieces.

Hrmpf. Now it works perfectly at my place.

But I have changed my Linux distribution in the meantime.

I was using a SUSE Linux 9.3 and it did not work, now I am using SUSE Linux
10.0, and it works.

The problem was reproducable under other distributions, Mandrake for example.
If you want I can ask the original reporter.

This applies to both English and Dutch help. It involves
page /text/scalc/00/0405.xhp. At rule 17 describes Choose Format - Merge
Cells - Define and rule 18 describes Choose Format - Merge Cells - Remove.
Both rules are incorrect for OOo 2.0.x. The written describtion belongs to an
older version 1.1.x.
I am afraid that the incorrect text rules are also used in other helppages of
OOo 2.0.x

I can confirm a crash on Windows with 2.0, but don't see one on Linux with a
2.0.1RC (680m145). Could you try upgrading to the released 2.0.1 and see if that
fixes it for you?

I second everything that swisher said.

I'd like to see a third option for this setting: Auto

The Auto setting automatically detects whether simplex or duplex/booklet is
selected and behaves as follows: Simplex - blank page disabled, Duplex/Booklet
- blank page enabled.

Auto should be the default. The On and Off settings then become manual
overrides for special cases.

With Auto, you don't have to remember to change Yet Another setting when
switching between simplex and duplex.

When a report is produced using the Screenbeans template for headers and
footers, the first page is unnecessarily left blank.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new database, save it as test.odb
2. Create a table with fields Order (VARCHAR) and Date (DATE) and a
   primary key.
3. Add 3 records: Order1, 1/2/3, Order2, 2/3/4, Order3, 3/4/5.
4. Create a Report using the wizards; add all fields, accept defaults and in
step 5 choose Layout of Data: Default, Layout of headers and footers:
   Screenbeans
5. Choose Finish.

The created report has an annoying and useless blank first page.

If an .odt document contains notes (the ones created by Insert -- Note), and
the note consists of multiple lines, conversion to .doc (Save As Microsoft Word
97/2000 .doc) results in loss of end of lines. To be precise in both documents
when the cursor is placed on top of the yellow rectangle, the note is displayed
correctly; however when the rectangle is double-clicked, the note appears OK in
the .odt document; but appears as a single line in the .doc document.

date in the report header is in German.

Steps to reproduce:

Not sure whether I got this right. You want to include a script in the package
that the admin has to lauch after modifying it?

No.
I want to use the script during the package creation.
I don't know what is the building environment of OO.o but assuming that there is
bash available I've created a building script where you can control package
creation through few variables.
Tell me if it is of any use.

There are some differences between tar-1.13 and tar-1.15.1 that are causing
differences between tarballs generated by them but I will investigate on it and
let you know.

the following macro doesn´t work correct in the 2.0.1 version but only in
2.0.0.
The file form1 is loaded, but using the same code to open another file
creates
a new frame. It´s not opened in the same frame.

Sub LoadForm1

Dim oDoc1 As Object
Dim sURL1 As String

Rem Load a documents into the frame myframe!
oDesk = createUnoService(com.sun.star.frame.Desktop)
Dim NoArgs()
Rem Frame myframe will be created if it does not exist because it includes

sUrl_1 = file:///C:/Form1.odt
oDoc1 = oDesk.LoadComponentFromUrl(sUrl_1, myframe, 63, Noargs())

End Sub

Hi,

this is a follow-up issue of #i52123# where you removed C++ and Java APIs. Java
API is again enabled, but C++ API is still disabled.

Can we also disable its compilation (--disable-cxx) and remove it from d.lst?

The attached Word document cannot be opened by openoffice.org writer 2.0.1
either in Linux or Windows.

When an attempt to open the document is made, the 'importing document' message
appears, but nothing appears in ooo. Ooo then hangs and has to be killed in
both Linux and Windows.

This has been tested on Suse Linux 9.2, KDE 3.5, and Windows 2000 with all
service packs installed.

I remember looking at the document a year ago in ooo1.1.*, so this is something
that has happened with the 2 series.

In the embedded databae engine, a table created using a primary key of type
BIGINT and set to auto generate the values will not pass the value to subforms.

The problem has been reported by one user on the OOOForum board, a second has
sent a database to me that also has the problem.

I am attaching an example database to demonstrate. Open the database and the
form contained. Move to the second Authors record and attempt to enter a new
Book record.

The IDENTITY of type BIGINT is working correctly for individual tables, but the
subforms are not picking it up.

For the record: Even with a current snapshot some hangs were seen on one system
but could be cured by starting the following command in a new cygwin bash
window:

$ ls /proc/*/fd

If whoever reads this issue (and is not ause ;) ) can reproduce the hang and the
unhang with the ls command, please provide details.

CC'ing Henrik as he might actually be the second one.
