Open Writer 2. Insert a picture and add a caption for it 3. Mark them 4. DD them to a Calc spreadsheet This does not work. The only thing, what happens, is that you move the picture and its caption to the border of your Writer document, but not into Calc. If you use CP instead between the both application, it only copies the caption to Calc instead of the picture alongside with the caption. To get both - the picture and its caption - into Calc, you have to use Edit - Special Edit (I think, this is the English term ... ;) ) to get them into Calc ... :( I have not tested this any further with the different other options (plain text and maybe hyperlinks works, but not sure about objects and fields ... :( ), sorry for that. I think, redoffice should open different issues for each case (and @redoffice: Please do not open one issue for Win _and_ one for Linux, please and answer the questions you get! The autosaving process takes almost 55-60 seconds to finish. During this entire time, Writer becomes unresponsive. Worse, sometime the process starts even when I am entering something, and steals focus. After a wait of 1 minute, I have to carefully inspect which keystrokes go lost, and what's the effect. The problem is complicated by the fact that I cannot type with all fingers while looking at the screen. As a result, I don't usually come to know when the autosaving starts all of a sudden, and keep on typing. As a result, a lot of actions and entered data is lost. I am sure a lot of users would be facing the same problem as me. It should be a background process and should start only when Writer is idle. Also see Issue 65634: Although the remedy is the same/similar, the underlying issues are different. In fact, THIS issue describes one of the officially recognized GUI bloopers listed in the best seller. It is there even in m173. I have a 330-oage odt file. I have inserted an alphabetical index at the end of the document. The index is arranged in two column layout. The problem is that the index always ends with a blank page. I cannot eliminate this blank page. Additional observations: 1. In my file, the Index has a gray background (which does not print as gray), but the last blank page does not have any gray area: It is completely white. 2. This blank page is not related to overflowing index, because the index has ended on the left column of the second-last page itself; leaving the right-hand side column completely blank. 3. I checked out whether Writer adds this blank page to make to pages even/odd. (for example, for printing a book). To check this, I added 1-2 blank pages in the middle of the file to make the total page count odd/even; but this does not remove the blank page at the end. Besides, the blank page appears only when I add the index. The sample file (private- do not post) is with mru. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The used array formula provides the entire row of the regression statistics with a single function call. I am aware that this array function can be replaced by multiple independant function calls, but since the original regression function is of higher order than this example and it is used several hundred times in a workbook, calculation time will increase significantly. All tested Excel versions provide the correct results. The used operating system is Windows XP. When I insert the tabstops into a presentation I made for school, it displays the characters I choose, but overlaps with the original text, or it overlaps with itself. It is just a mess of what it displays. It becomes impossible to read, what was written there before, so the problem should be fixed. Besides, I never understood what this feature is good for, maybe anyone may explain it to me. I have made a file, that shows the problems I experienced, but I don't see, where I can upload the file. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=66931 User simonbr changed the following: What|Old value |New value Priority|P2|P3 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 2 11:31:44 -0700 2006 --- Update: I found that the file could be opened by Wordpad on a second PC, that also runs Windows XP. A notable difference between the two machines is that this PC had Service Pack 2 installed, and the first PC had Service Pack 1 plus essential updates. After installing SP2 on the first PC, its Wordpad could also open the .doc file without problems. So installing SP2 could be regarded as a workaround, however: the problem would not occur on the PC of an OOo-user but on the PC of someone else, to whom the file is sent and who would use Wordpad to view the file because neither MS-Office nor OOo is installed. You cannot count on SP2 having been installed on that person's PC. Maybe the above scenario is not likely to occur frequently, but anyway it may be a good idea to have a look at the apparent difference in .doc files that are generated by OOo 2.0 in comparison to and the ones that are generated by MS-Office and OOo 1.1. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 66939] hspell Hebrew spell checke r freezes upon loading
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=66939 Issue #|66939 Summary|hspell Hebrew spell checker freezes upon loading Component|framework Version|OOo 2.0.3 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Linux Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|code Assigned to|tm Reported by|wise_ferret --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jul 2 14:21:08 -0700 2006 --- Pentium 4, 768MB, Ubuntu Dapper (also on Breezy). After adding hspell Hebrew dictionary using File-Wizards-Install New Dictionaries, I get the following: When I open an empty document, everything is fine. If I open an existing document, or start typing a few letters in a new document, openoffice suddenly freezes and becomes unresponsive for 15-30 seconds. After that, mispellings (if exist) are marked on the text. After this happens once, I can open more documents with no problem until I quit ooo2 completely. There are no writing aids in use except hspell dictionary (Hunspell). If I choose not to check spelling while typing, I simply postpone the temporary freeze to the first time I spellcheck manually. This issue is present in my system for many weeks now, on clean installations of OpenOffice from ubuntu breezy and dapper packages (2.02 and below) and on package downloaded directly from openoffice.org (2.03). Using OOO 2.0.3 official RPM installed on SuSE 10.1. OOO shows Chinese as junk text on user interface thus making it difficult to work with it. I tried to change user interface font by subsituting Andale Sans UI to a Chinese font, after subsitution the user interface look exactly the same (bad). This is either a OOO bug or a document bug, or this is more like a document bug. I am afraid the document http://www.openoffice.org/FAQs/fontguide.html#9; which suggested subsitution of Andale Sans UI is outdated and doesn't reflect the real font used on OOO2 user interface. If this is the case please forward this problem to the document maintainer. As I guess from the formalness of URI this document should be official and should be updated. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
