Though I can see that this is an important issue for some users, I think that
the
way to solve it is the implement a Normal Mode for proof-reading rather than
spending developers' time on adding an option to change this behaviour.

When scrolling from the bottom of one page to the top of the next in page
layout
mode, where there is a gap to show the page break, the page is going to have to
jump by several lines, espcially if there are footnotes at the bottom of the
previous page, and a header at the top of the next page.

Comment to Pesala's comment:
This is what i thought at first, but if you open a file and try to scroll with
the arrows you will see that it's not at the bottom of the PAGE that it jumps,
but at the bottom of the SCREEN. Normal mode is ALSO necessary to make the
cursor more directly under the control of the arrow keys but not sufficient.

In Word Perfect's Draft Mode, though I can see the footnote indexes, I cannot
edit
the notes easily (One has to use the menus or shortcut keys). Although the
footnotes should NOT be visible at the bottom of the page, because that would
defeat the purpose of Normal mode, I still want to be able to refer to my notes
while editing, as checking footnotes is an important part of the editing
process.

When Normal mode is implemented, please retain the option to edit the notes by
clicking on the note index number in the text, and retain the option to view
the
notes as a Tooltip if that option is selected in preferences.

Depending on where the cursor is positioned (e.g. inside table or outside of
table) the corresponding Toolbar pops in and out.
1- Click View.
2- Select Table, Drawing and/or Picture Toolbar (those are the ones the problem
occurs with, altho there may be others) - Toolbar appears, as it should.
3- Dock Toolbar.
4- Click inside Table(or Select Graphic) Toolbar stays where it is.
5- Place Cursor outside table (or deselect Graphic) and Toolbar disappears.
6- Click inside table (or select graphic) and Toolbar re-appears (docked).
--This causes the work area to be constantly resized and redrawn every time you
move into or out of the Object. This is very annoying as well as
counterproductive!
--The problem happens whether Lock Toolbar Position is selected or not.
It Does not appear to happen with Frame Toolbar.

I consider this a bug, because the problem did NOT occur in any previous version
of OpenOffice.org I have used. The Toolbars stayed where you put them no matter
where the cursor was positioned.

We can take mingwport3 as master, and create separate (smaller) cwses for
integration.
This make us much easier QA, since integration of such a large cws is a burden.

I can reproduce now with a slightly different stack and behaviour:

tl680mi.dll!_chkstk()   Asm
go680mi.dll!DbgIsAssert()   C++
go680mi.dll!B3dEdgeEntryBucketMemArr::operator[](169)   C++
go680mi.dll!B3dEdgeEntryBucket::operator[](43404)   C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::InsertEdge(0x0f096ea0, 0x0f0ab5d0, 0)C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++
go680mi.dll!B3dComplexPolygon::ExtractTriangle()C++

The B3dEdgeEntryBucket entries in the above call are normally hidden behind a
macro.

When B3dEdgeEntryBucket::operator[] is called in this scenario with parameter
position=43404 then the next call goes into another macro SV_IMPL_VARARR which
there leads to DbgIsAssert() and a stack overflow notice.

Armin, could you please take over, as you are the owner of B3dComplexPolygon.
The error occurs during the paint call, long after all shapes are generated by
the chart via the UNO API.
After ignorance of the stackoverflow exception there is an AccessViolation
during Region destructor (maybe the known vcl problem with exceptions during
paint again!).
Some more AccessViolations and in the end - ok my debug version does not crash
immidiately - but only be by chance I guess. When trying to rotate the created
diagram afterwards the whole Office shuts down immidiately.

Armin, be aware that this occurs with the new chart, so you need CWS chart2mst3.

I started creating several page styles in Oo Writer and wanted two have two
styles for different alignment of the text. These styles are named
Studienarbeit_Preface_rechts and Studienarbeit_Preface_links (the name is ugly,
I know ;)). With the attached document I am not able to change the following
page style of Studienarbeit_Preface_rechts to Studienarbeit_Preface_links and
save that.

Here is the procedure:

Press F11 to get the style editor, if it is not already displayed

right click on Studienarbeit_Preface_rechts - edit/change and go to the tab
where you can change the name of the template.

change the template to follow this one to Studienarbeit_Preface_links and
click ok

Now save the document - crash!

I was able to reproduce this issue on Windows XP (Oo 2.0.3) and Linux (2.6.16.13
Debian, Oo2.0.3). However this problem does not occur when I try to do this with
a fresh document, so it has something to do with structure of the document?

@maho: Thank you for your suggestion. Although I am not acustomed to the
integration process, my idea is to integrate as in following sequence.

1. Integrate config_office and solenv.
Without this nothing will happen.

2. Integrate library naming replacement with MACROs (in 1.)
All MS-Windows specific projects not hiding behind sal should follow this
convetion.

3. Integrate unicode charactor handling changes
All MS-Windows specific projects should follow this convetion as well. And
this contains vary large changes.

Other parts can be handled one by one ...

4. Integrate external project
This includes system header modifications.

5. Integrate 3rd party projects
This includes rather tricky libtool modifications.

6. All others (Maybe in small chunks)

That is a known problem of the version 2.0.3, see issue 67334. Please use the
predefined styles Rechte Seite and Linke Seite. You can changes their
properties to your needs.

The bug will be fixed in the next release, which will come end of september
likely. The fix is integrated already into the newest developer version.

The subject is the installation of an OOoBasic add-on with the Package-Manager.
I am using the following xcu file to create a toolbar for a macro. So far it
works fine, but the toolbar is called Add on 1. It would be an enhancement if
I could give the toolbar a name.

?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?
oor:node xmlns:oor=http://openoffice.org/2001/registry;
xmlns:xs=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema; oor:name=Addons
oor:package=org.openoffice.Office
  node oor:name=AddonUI
node oor:name=OfficeToolBar
  node oor:name=org.openoffice.DHiller.addon.BorderLiner
oor:op=replace
node oor:name=btn01 oor:op=replace
:
/node
  /node
/node
  /node
/oor:node

An additional proberty like Title would be my suggestion.

Currently, Toolbars can be customized by Tools - customize, tab Toolbars,
content. With add I can add COMMANDS to the selected toolbar.
Now I have an add-on that had generated a toolbar Add-on 1 with an icon. I
would like to move that add-on to My toolbars. There is no way to get access
to the macro in Add-on 1 except via command - Openoffice Macro - My Macros -
 But this way, I do not get the icon.
My suggestion: Also list the toolbars und add and in a second listbox the
content including icons. This way it should be easy to move an add-on in a
diffenrent toolbar.

i.e. in

salvd.cxx

SalVirtualDevice* X11SalInstance::CreateVirtualDevice( SalGraphics* pGraphics,
long nDX, long nDY, USHORT nBitCount, const SystemGraphicsData *pData )

calls -
  else if( !pVDev-Init( pSalDisplay, nDX, nDY, nBitCount ) )

and then later calls

   pVDev-InitGraphics( pVDev );

But...

BOOL X11SalVirtualDevice::Init( SalDisplay *pDisplay, long nDX, long nDY,
USHORT nBitCount, Pixmap hDrawable, void* pRenderFormatVoid )

calls -  pGraphics_-Init( this, pColormap, bDeleteColormap );

and X11SalVirtualDevice::InitGraphics is also

calls -  pGraphics_-Init( this, pColormap, bDeleteColormap );

so X11SalGraphics::Init gets called twice and can leak some memory, patch
attached to make Double Init safe

valgrind tells me that the DtIngtegrator alloced in SalDisp is leaking, arguably
it needs to exist the whole lifetime of the app I guess, so it's not critical,
but the following patch Releases it in the dtor to clean things up

... is terrible in the license window. It interprets newlines and also breaks
lines automatically - see screenshot, especially words hence and preamble.

I do not want to use the application that is leaving one word only on the line
for my documents :-)

Also the separation of paragraphs (there is none) does not help reading the
license.

 SBA: First and most important: ONE PROBLEM = ONE ISSUE!

No reason to shout here. This issue deals with exactly one problem (broken
layout) and shows two symptoms of this problem.

 it was adressed by squeezing the UI strings a little for some languages.

Fighting symptoms is the wrong way to deal with a problem. You should fix the
layout of the dialog by not using fixed positions and dimensions but use a
dynamic layout that automatically adopts to translated string lenghts, chosen
fonts or dialog size changes. Then you don't need to fix translations
anymore.

 there is bigger fish to catch at times and in the near future for OS

The problem does not disappear just because you ignore it. By not fixing the
problem you will notice its symptoms again and again.

You need to think longterm.

@waymonc:
I'm sorry, but I don't understand your problem.
Please first read our guidelines on
http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html and
http://www.openoffice.org/bugs/bug_writing_guidelines.html, then
contribute a clear step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce the problem.

Do you really only see that problem with WRITER or also CALC?

So, this shrinks the framework memory usage / string duplication by ~50k or
more, I got bored of measuring; it also reduces a little cut/paste :-)

before:

 78 void
 88 com.sun.star.i18n.Transliteration.l10n
 95 com.sun.star.text.TextDocument
173 Filter
210 en-US
275 cfg:string
278 UIName - framework
285 ItemDescriptorContainer - framework
351 Label - framework
355 HelpURL - framework
372 CommandURL - framework
541 Type (~350 framework)
615 x-default
   1094 LabelType

after:

156 en-US
166 FileFormatVersion
167 FilterService
167 UIComponent
168 Flags
169 DocumentService
169 UserData
175 TemplateName
282 Type
285 cfg:localized
319 UIName
501 x-default
555 cfg:string

So a nice reduction :-) [ but includes another patch ;-].

Although this is probably not P1 for Hamburg RE, it is for everyone else

mh: What's the status of this issue? Currently the German dictionary is
included in OOo, but not under the GPL but under a different license which
allows distributing the word lists with software that uses OpenDocument as its
primary format. This license does however not allow modification which
basically makes it impossible to fix errors without the help of wordlist
maintainer. This is not really acceptable.

The following is a proof of principle patch that still has to be cleaned up. The
moz build on W32 for now also requires the OOo wrapper guw.pl and that one also
needs a few patches to work.

I'll attach the interdiff changes between the old and the new
mozilla-source-1.7.5.patch file and the guw patch.

issue 68282 showed some problems of guw.pl with respect to mixed mode paths.

Teach guw.pl to handle:

   -Foc:/foo/bar

   c:/foo/bar

and remove the very general def from the link exceptions.

Hello,

my problem is related to issue 63493, issue 66000 and the last part of issue
58303: My mails (from bernhardatfamilie-dippold.de) to different mailing
lists (and my OOo account) bounce with the same messages from the mail server:

Reporting-MTA: dns; post.webmailer.de
Received-From-MTA: DNS; ket.store

I don't know if there is a chance to modify this behaviour because about 95% of
my mails reach the lists without any problem. Sometimes it needs three or four
attempts to send my mail, before it is not rejected, sometimes I just resend it
once.

Today I tried five times without any chance to get the mail delivered and after
reading the corresponding issues I sent it simultaneously to my other mail
address where it was delivered.

I'll attach the header of this mail to the issue so you hopefully can see if
there is a address you could include in your whitelist.

My mail address bernhardatfamilie-dippold.de is part of my website
www.familie-dippold.de, hosted by Strato (www.strato.de). I don't know if they
send my mails via other mail server or if Strato is listed on blacklists.

[www-issues] Re: [Issue 68963] File 'save as' function does not open directory links.

2006-08-26 Thread Dcn. Wayland Moncrief

Select file save as.
this bring up a directory window.
you can navigate through the directories provided that the icons are directories
and not links

If it is a link to a directory OO Writer takes it as a file rather than a link.
I have not tried it in calc.

Thanks,

@waymonc:
I'm sorry, but I don't understand your problem.
Please first read our guidelines on
http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html and
http://www.openoffice.org/bugs/bug_writing_guidelines.html, then
contribute a clear step by step instruction containing every key press and
every

mouse click how to reproduce the problem.

Do you really only see that problem with WRITER or also CALC?

See thread on users@openoffice.org for full history of this issue.

I will summarize here:
User wants to open dBASEIV type file mismarked as MS Access file on Mac
Platform. File can be obtained from Maricopa County Prosecutor's Office web
site and is named DATA8000.dbf and is attached to issue.
To use this file you should start OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 or m180. Click on New -
Database file. In the wizard, select database, select connect to existing
Database, dBASE. Select the location where this file is located at. Examine
the tables area and there should be a table named DATA8000, but there is not.
The table should contain a list of items.

@clu:

I decided to dust off my old Windows machine and try to duplicate this. It
worked as it is supposed to. I am reassigning this to the Mac OS X lead as a
Mac only bug.

Steps to reproduce if you want to try:

Put the attached file in a known directory (Mine is on the Desktop)

Open OpenOffice.org m180 (or 2.0.3 it is also affected).
Select File - New - Database
When the dialog opens, select connect to existing database type and select dBASE
from the list.
In the next screen which will ask where the files are located, click on Browse
and then select the directory where the file is at.
Click on save (I want to use the file as input to the Mail Merge functionality)
When the database screen opens, click in Tables. There are no entries in this
area and there should be at least the DATA8000 table from the conversion from
dBASE to HBSQL data format.

Can you please reassign to the Mac OS X porting team?
