Main problem seems to be, that border areas of he bitmap which have been cropped away in DRAW (they are still visible in the Crop dialogue if you copy paste the first DRAW object back du DRAW), will be printed. Print of 'Rework_instructions_2.doc' works fine with WORD2000, but also ugly from OOo 2.0. It seems that the reasons for the problems are in DRAW, because I found out something strange: The view of the bitmap in the Crop dialogue is mirror-inverted ?! @afore: If you are still interested, I will give you some instructions how to create a complete testkit we need for a solution of this problem. Values have the systems default formatting (long date, short date, time). Calc fails to import this system default but uses the (us-english) fallback instead. You can use http://de.openoffice.org/source/browse/*checkout*/de/qa/testfiles/calc/calc-1-109242.xls as example (see table Datums- und ZEitformate) The cause is, that Excel uses an (undocumented) escape sequence for system default. This is [$-F800] for date, long system default [$-F400] for time, system default seems like some sort of bitvector, but I could not find a documentation. This does not only affect binary filters but Office 2003 XML and Office Open XML as well. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [ui-issues] [Issue 4854] Stylist filter is not kept between usages of OpenOffice or document.
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4854 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Sep 30 09:07:01 -0700 2006 --- I agree that the “per session” persistence of the filter setting of the “Styles and Formatting” window is something that would be useful, in the meantime this is what I discovered about its behavior, may be it could help a little. If not please forgive me for making noise. I should confess I find the use of the Automatic filter feature on the Styles and Formatting window easy, as soon as you have figured out how to bend it to your needs. The behavior I'm going to describe is actual in 2.0.3, I don't know for the old version to which this issue refers to. There is a relationship between the filter and the styles it displays, though I have not found any documentation explaining it clearly. According to the On Line Guide, Automatic is: quote Automatic Displays styles appropriate to the current context. unquote What I didn't find explained anywhere is the meaning of context, when related to styles. Using writer, I found that context means where your insertion cursor is (e.g. where you are typing), what tells that a style belongs to a context is the “Category” drop down list on the “Organizer” tab of the style properties dialog window (in Stylist right click and select Modify... to open it). For example a text in the category “Text Styles” will show up in the Automatic filter whenever the cursor is inside a text. Whereas the styles belonging to the category “Special Styles” are displayed in the Automatic filter when the cursor is, for example, in a page header. The documentation (as in the “On Line Guide”) is not clear on this respect where it says that a user created style should belong to the “Custom Style” category, instead it should belong to a category fit for the automatic filter to show it when in the right context. If you want to discover what style category is displayed automatically when you are in a certain part of your document, simply put the cursor there and have a look at the category of one the styles displayed on the “Styles and Formatting” window. Then set your style to the same category if you want it showed up in that same context. This is a style preparation that should take place when you first prepare the template for your document. Hope this can help a little while waiting for implementation. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I tried it in Linux, OOo 2.0.3: put the template in my own template directory, File New Templates and Documents choose Faxcover, an empty document pops up presenting a dialog box, fill in the field, confirm with ctrl+enter to close the dialog and go to the next (confirmin with alt+N gives the same result) start immediately filling the field, again alt+N (or ctrl+enter). continue until the end of the document, last confirmation shows document with field correctly filled. So in Linux seems the expected behaviour. Tomorrow I'll give a try with a Windows PC. When you have selected an entire column, the AutoFill handle appears in row 65536. This is very unfavorable, because you have to scroll and move to the very end of the spreadsheet in order to grab the handle. In addition one cannot see the data evolving while draging. Improvement: When an entire row/column ist selected, the AutoFill handle should appaer in the top/left end of the selection. This enhancement is desirable not because MS Excel has it, but it would add a big step of usability to Calc. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70018 Issue #|70018 Summary|canon i860 doesn't print color pictures in debian etch Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.0.3 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|Linux Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P5 Subcomponent|printing Assigned to|alex3269 Reported by|alex3269 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Sep 30 18:11:55 -0700 2006 --- Hi, I am a big fan of Openoffice and consider it a great program. I have recently installed Debian Etch and I want to use Linux all the time. I think, it is a great OS, too. But there's an interesting problem which I can't find an explanation anywhere. My printer Canon i860 doesn't print pictures in colour but only grey scale from Openoffice. It prints in colour everything like font, highlighting, background, but not pictures, no matter what extensions of them are. I have tried all the options for setting up the printer and all in vain. Interesting that the similar problem was in Photoprint, it didn't find correct driver and used one from a different black and white printer. But then it didn't print in color at all. I have the driver from Takushi Miyoshi (http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/%7Etakushi/). Maybe, the problem is in it, since Picasa didn't find my printer. But the driver is not bad and, I am afraid, it is the only one available so far.It prints correctly everything almost everywhere like in kword, gnome-photo-printer, mozilla-firefox, mozilla-browser, abiword, gimp, nvu. It doesn't print completely in epiphany web browser, photoprint. Maybe there's a bug in Openoffice, I don't know. Foomatic says everything is OK. It would be nice to have such an option in Openoffice as to enter printer command manually like one in Mozilla and NVU. I tried to find one in the Openoffice 2.0.3. but failed. Any suggestions?
