drensink: "Changing this would probably break some compatibility with Excel."

OOo is not compatible here anyway. For example Excel =COUNTIF(A1:A5,"re*")
matches red, rend, retire. Importing this into Calc -> =COUNTIF(A1:A5;"re*").
Without regex selected none of these match. With regex selected they all match,
but so does rut, rally etc.

OOo doesn't do MS wildcards, nor does it try to convert wildcards into regex on
import.

To be honest, for me the disadvantage of having yet another function to confuse
the user outweighs any benefit

why is the onlineupdate enabled in testing environment anyways? isn't that a
bug?

and also if the navigator or stylist is still open at the end of the test this
should be fixed. Culd be that
closing the windoes does not work anymore.

Imho this helps hiding errors, so I would like not to implement it.

Adding jsi to cc
Jogi? any comments?

thanks for the feedback.

I will go and add some error reporting (I was never really satisfied with the
current error reporting in the UI, anyway). I'd say it's the difference between
3 days and 5 days, or so :).

Reporting the file's row numbers as such might be difficult, since the they're
not known anymore in the place where the copying happens. We only have record
numbers here - which should be the same as long as you don't sort or filter the
source.

Reporting column positions - hmm, would have to look into that. ATM, the wizard
simply reports the error message as got from the underlying database driver. I
am not sure I can get out more detailed errors with reasonable effort. Except
improving the error messages in the back-end implementation, which is always an
option for HSQL, but difficult for implementations not in our control.

For the data access descriptor, and the un-necessity to create .odbs - well,
that's the theory: The ConnectionResource parameter should be sufficient to
describe the source, without creating a database document or even a data source.
Honestly, I do not know when the ConnectionResource thingie was *really* used
last time :). Let's see.

hi attaching a file would allow others to have a look.
Do they come up in OpenOffice.org or another program.
Try opening them using the file open dialog.

And while it is a P1 for you it is not in the tracking system ;-)

For of: Please note that another user on the users mailing list (Harry Petree)
had the same problem with Windows XP SP2, so this does not appear to be only a
Vista problem. I do not know if Harry was running an AMD 64 - perhaps that is a
common thread as both Scott & affinitymc are.

"needmoreinfo" may be the appropriate status, however IMO the developers *should
advise* as to how to obtain that info, and what additional info is needed. It's
critical that this issue be resolved as it prevents these users from installing
2.x OOo.

I would go along with pretty much everything msc2 had to say.

An import implementation must have some way of showing the user which records,
if any, where rejected. So from the stand point of the extension implementing
this feature I would say it is a 5.

I suppose that doesn't necessarily require that a callback be available, as the
extension could implement a post import check to compare the source and the
destination datasets. But having this callback function for an error state as
part of the API would certainly be the cleanest and most desirable solution,
IMO.

So, if this one feature would be the difference between a realization of the api
in say 12 months from now, versus 4 months. I'd say leave it out for now, but it
really should be part of the overall plan, and if it could make into the first
cut all the better.

When selecting a tree node, the label gets highlighted with the proper system
color, but the text of the label remains the same as when it is not selected.

If the text highlight color and the control text color are both dark, it is
difficult to read the label of the selected tree node.

Something happened to my writer and calc oo2.0 files. They're all garbage now.
I think it happened when I tried to download and install google earth. I am in
a panic, and downloaded the latest version of Open Office in an attempt to fix
things. I downloaded and installed Open Office 2.3, but the files are still
corrupted. They come up as pure garbage. I had about 300 Writer and 100 Calc
files. Is there any solution to this problem? I have no backups for these files.

The API looks pretty usable so far. If I think about instatiating the wizard
from BASIC mostly anything seems to be in place.

On the dad-sevice: definitively useful when importing external data sources,
otherwise a workaround (e.g. making a temporary registered database) would be
needed.

On the error reporting:
5 for having the line or record number failing on in the exception message
shown to the user
4.5 for knowing the column position (.csv) or field (table) causing the error
3 or less for detailed detection and description of the exact error cause.
1 for trying to do some automatic repair or recovery. If the data is faulty,
the user should repair or reformat it before importing.

Open the attached database, edit table "GUI_Defaults", set or unset default
date/times, open the table, add new record, toggle the first field (bool "SET
ME"), leave the new record and watch the weird results (see below):

Try to (un-)set the defaults:
Tools>Sql...
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "bool" SET DEFAULT 0;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "int" SET DEFAULT 2;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "string" SET DEFAULT 'bar';
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "date" SET DEFAULT CURRENT_DATE;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "time" SET DEFAULT CURRENT_TIME;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "stamp" SET DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP;

or respectively
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "bool" SET DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "int" SET DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "string" SET DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "date" SET DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "time" SET DEFAULT NULL;
ALTER TABLE "GUI_Defaults" ALTER COLUMN "stamp" SET DEFAULT NULL;

The behaviour of the date/times won't change. Notice the date/time fields
after setting the defaults:
ID SET ME boolint string datetimestamp
26 TRUE2 bar 02/12/2 00:00:0002/12/2 00:00

after unsetting the defaults:
ID SET ME boolint string datetimestamp
27 TRUE02/12/2 00:00:0002/12/2 00:00

CSV import is wrong in importing lines.
If it found a single 0x13 value, it guesses it's the newline separator.

The right behaviour would be to trigger a newline only on 0x10, and on 0x10 0x13
sequence. 0x13 alone never meant newline on any system.

Up to now, I only used Write, so it's difficult to say whether it also appears
with other OpenOffice components.
Today the error appeared without any update. I was writing and when I tried to
save I got again the same error:

"Error while saving the document Rückenschmerzen:
Error while writing the File"

My PC has 2 GB of memory of which roughly 760 MB are still free.

The hiriq vowel is displayed too far up when written below a yod consonant,
see attachments. The same shows up with both fonts (Ezra SIL and SBL Hebrew)
that I have installed.

I use KUbuntu 7.10 (KDE) with a biblical Hebrew input method (kmfl). On my
system, I found that only Qt4 supports Unicode (in whatever ways) far enough
to display biblical Hebrew properly.

- Open any OOo document, it doesn't matter what type.

- Select "File/Print..."

- set "Number of copies"=2

- (you may select a PDF printer or print into PostScript-file (Linux) to avoid
wasting paper )

- leave "Collate" unchecked

- press OK:

The document has been printedonly once!

- Repeat the same steps but now with "Collate" checked:
Now the document is printed 2 times, as expected.

(Found on SO8 PU8 Linux and OOo 2.3 Windows.)

[sw-issues] [Issue 81597] [MWEx] Export filter "Medi aWiki" fails to export Non-breaking space

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Oct 24 20:01:15 +

Hi,

for "Suppress lists for implementing section numbering", transform the
OpenDocument Spec to MediaWiki with and without the patch. Without the patch,
headings are rendered

 #
 ##
 ### '''Heading 3'''

 Text.

I was not yet able to construct a document in OOo that produces the same
internal XML structure as the OD spec.

"Made the transformation user-configurable through user info variables." is a
feature, you may want to silently ignore. Otherwise, you have to test the
following:

1. Create a user-defined document info field (in document properties) named
"CODE_TAB_REPLACEMENT" (instead of e.g. "Info 1"). Set the value of the field to
some string (e.g. 6 space characters). Create a paragraph with fixed-width font
and start the paragraph with tab characters. In the transformed result, tab
characters are replaced with the value of the user-defined field.

2. Create another user-defined field named "CODE_JOIN_PARAGRAPHS" and set the
value either to "true" or to "false". Create a sequence of paragraphs with
fixed-width font (e.g. a code snippet), where each line is in a separate
paragraph. If the document variable is set to "true", paragraphs are treated as
simple new-lines instead of translating to a wiki paragraph break (a double
new-line character). If the value is "false", the transformation transfroms
paragraph breaks in code section as it where normal text.

3. Create another user-defined field named "CODE_STYLES" and enter the name of a
paragraph style that has non fixed-width font. Create a paragraph with this
style and transform the document. The paragraph should be rendered as
preformatted text with fixed-width font in the wiki output. This customization
can be used as workaround, if the font of a code paragraph is de-facto fixed
width, but this is not marked in the ODT file as such. An example is again the
OpenDocument specification.

For "Bugfix: All '<' characters must be escaped during rendering a text block
containing markup", tranform the following text:

  < This < is < a < paragraph & with & multiple & xml > specials. >
  < This < is < another < paragraph & with & & multiple &
xml > specials. >

Best regards
Bernhard Haumacher

implemented a good framework for this in CWS reportdesign01. It should be
peanuts to add another case to OFormattedSampleControl::getPreviewValue, caring
for TEXT formats, don't you think?

There are a lot of problems in the usage of styles and numbering - too numerous
in my limited free time to list here . Suffice to say - you need to do extensive
testing in this area - there are way too many WTF's occurring and it's worse
than that - it's as impossible as Word can be which is pretty bad .

[sw-issues] [Issue 82815] Insert column resizes _all _ columns in the table instead of selected

Okay, fair enough to use the split _cell_ option (now at least I don't need to
go back to 2.2.X ;-), but I don't think it's very intuitive.

Usually I would like all the columns to keep the same size when inserting a
column (apart from the column where I insert the new one). Especially if I've
already got a filled table (full page-width), with the columns carefully aligned
to other elements on the page, and just would like to add another column. The
new method causes all the cell to shrink, even to the point the content isn't
fitting in anymore.

Also, if the insert-column command causes existing columns to keep their
proportions, should the remove-column command do the same?

pl->af:
I built in this support on Windows and the Unix platforms (both X11 and gtk
plugins); you can create a child window with WB_SYSTEMCHILDWINDOW. I used a
WorkWindow for my tests and would suggest for you to do likewise.

Currently it is totally untested what happens to keyboard focus, so please tell
me what you need. However event handling is the same as for normal system
frames, so you should get all events more or less normally.

- open new presentation
- Insert -> Object -> Plugin
- insert a supported plugin file (I tested pdf and swf)
- OK
->plugin appears (plus an assertion that says something about an object should
be active)
- resize plugin
-> replacement puzzle piece and handles get sized, but not the actual plugin
window

works in writer, not in impress

I tested only on Windows, but this is most likely cross platform. Someone does
not seem to resize the underlying SystmChildWindow (which is the container for
the actual plugin).

After installing OOo 2.3 on Windows XP / 32bit permission in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\... - OOo related keys (and subkeys) have
wrong permissions, preventing (at least) the usage of file associations in
windows explorer and other GUI shells if user is not logged in as the
Builtin\Administrator account.

Note:
I think this issue also existed in other installations prior to OOo2.3 - I fix
it manually (and only updated succeeding versions prior to 2.3). The error
occurred after uninstalling a previous version and totally reinstalling OOo2.3.
The Error is reproducible with any new installation (on the same system).

SystemInfo:
Windows XP SP2 32bit English

Permissions found:
Builtin\Administrator: Special Permission: Read, This Key only
System: Special Permission: Full Control, This Key only

Issues:
1.) Why are permissions set to each key only and not to the main (.odt, ...) key
with inheritance to subkeys (every other key in "classes" has permissions set
this way)
Typically Permissions of subkeys under the classes key are set as:
Builtin\Administrator: Full Control, This Key and Subkeys
SYSTEM: Full Control, This Key and Subkeys
Builtin\Power Users: Special Permissions: (Query Value, Set Value, Create
Subkey, Enumerate Subkeys, Notify, Delete, Read Control), This Key and Subkeys
CREATOR OWNER: Full Control, Special Permission: Full Control, Subkeys
Builtin\Users: Read, , This Key and Subkeys

2.) Either Permissions are wrong - or additional keys in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\... to overload associations are missing

Effected Keys:

.odg
.odm
.odp
.ods

Actually this patch is completely wrong, because it create a temporary OString
object from which we get the sal_Char*, said temporary object being destroyed
when exiting the scope.

I thought about this late in the night and ended up running valgrind to confirm
this. The fact that it seems to work is just a side effect of the memory
allocation implementation.

*sigh*

However, supporting OOo by adding further languages support is a fine thing. ->

Set type to "feature" (-> new language entries needed)

Set Prio to P3.
Put ER and Nemeth on CC.

Eventually a duplicate of i81959 (different scenarios, but might have the same
cause)

1. Open the attached file.
2. File takes "forever" to load on Solaris, while it's loaded "instantly" on
Windows.

This issue is a big problem when creating templates for business purposes.

It's as you believe/excepted.

The cited statement that confuses you is taken out of context. It belongs to the
stuff MT tries to explain about the different attribute sets at a certain
paragraph in the Writer core.

[dba-issues] [Issue 81727] Report based on view could not be run

I created mine via the db2cc but that actually shouldn't matter. Is there
something special about your view? Does it contain references to more than one
table?

Btw: I am connecting via unixODBC.

simon->clu: Is there any chance to print out a more detailed error message than
"The query statement could not be run"?

I attached a file to demonstrate the problem.

By using the navigator also frames can be modified. At this way all content that
is inserted into a protected section (tables, frames, graphics, ...) can be
renamed and deleted.

[sw-issues] [Issue 82637] [a11y] default attributes should not be derived from the initial charact er in a paragraph

So we will change the API implementation this way:
Attributes like bold are only treated as "default" when coming from the
StyleSheet, but as a run attribute even when coming from ParaAttribs, in
addition to CharAttribs.

This sounds great -- I think. :-) One question for clarification/verification:

If I go to Format -> Styles and Formatting and right-click on Default in the
list of paragraph styles, I can change the font to bold so that anything in my
document with the Default paragraph will automatically be bold. In this case,
would that be a "default" attribute or a run attribute?

Personally, I believe it should be a default attribute. And I think that's what
you're saying. But this statement confused me:

ParaAttribs can be changed via "Format / Paragraph", but normally the user can
only change the first type of attributes there, and doesn't know that the other
attributes can also be contained there.

Thanks!

started. Is this really necessary?

MRU->FME: open attached document and trigger the page formatting. you will see
on
page 67: the table is the only content on the page. The section which should
follow on this page has moved to the next page. Looks like a poroblem of the
many headings having the "keep with next" attribute.
This can be workarounded by entering a page break following the table and
clicking "Undo".

on page 84: at the top of the page there is a table which is covering the
section which starts below the table. Entering a paragraph break in the table
and clicking "Undo" will workaround this problem.

This may be two different problems, so should I file a separate for one of
these?
