(bug was found with french version).
Create a new sheet.
Enter numbers in a column.
Select the column and set the cell format to User defined with format:
[COLOR3]# ##0.00
Numbers are displayed in green (expected).
Save and close the document.
Re-open the document and color format is lost.
If instead of [COLOR3] (which is valid) you enter [RED] for example, problem
does not occur.

Conditions:
The Formatting Toolbar is docked.
The spreadsheet window is not maximized.
Reduce the horizontal size of the spreadsheet window until icon(s) move from the
visible portion of the Formatting Toolbar to the toolbar's dropdown list.

Clicking on these icons when they are in the dropdown list fails to pop up the
icon's chooser: Borders, Background Color, and Font Color.

Workarounds exist - resize the spreadsheet window or reorder icons in the
toolbar so that they appear in the visible portion of the toolbar.

I checked with 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [300m1
(Build9298)] and can confirm the effect (more or less)
With All language setings to ENGLISH, all options in menu 'tools - AutoCorrect
- Options' unchecked, input JAN will be changed to Jan, but MAR will
remain.

We had a similar report in invalid Issue 69984, but I doubt that the problem has
been recognized there correctly because of the rare report.

@cluster:
Pls specify your OS and Platform!
Workaround if you need the capitalized words as string: enter a single quote in
front of it.

In Italian localization there are some wrongs abbreviations in the Extended
Tips.

To see it (I show first the Italian menu names):

1) activate Extended Tips
Strumenti - Opzioni - OpenOffice.org - Generale - Guida attiva
Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - General - Extended Tips

2) open a new OOoWriter document

3) move the mouse cursor over the 'STD' write (it is at the bottom of the
OOoWriter windows)

You can see this text:
Mostra le modalità di selezione corrente. Potete scegliere traSTD = Standard,
EXT = Estesa, ADD = Aggiungi, BLK = Blocco

If you clink on that text you change it in:
STD - EST - AGG - BLK - STD - ...

There are the followings errors:
- traSTD must be tra: STD
- EXT must be EST
- ADD must be AGG

The text must be:
Mostra le modalità di selezione corrente. Potete scegliere tra: STD = Standard,
EST = Estesa, AGG = Aggiungi e BLK = Blocco

4) move the cursor over the 'INS' write

You can see this text:
Mostra la modalità di inserimento corrente. Potete passare da INSRT = Inserisci
e OVER = Sovrascrivi

If you clink on that text you change it in:
INS - SSC - INS - ...

There are the followings errors:
- INSRT must be INS
- e OVER must be a SSC

The text must be:
Mostra la modalità di inserimento corrente. Potete passare da INS = Inserisci a
SSC = Sovrascrivi

Note: I'm using OOo 2.4 distribuited by Debian Lenny GNU/Linux

Ciao
Davide

There is no need for any apology, I just didn't understand. Sorry, but the
version on an issue does not indicate the version it was fixed but the version
it was discovered. As long as an issue is not verified and closed it most
probably has not gone into any master version yet. An issue goes to fixed when a
solution is found and committed in a CWS, to verified if quality assurance has
seen the fix, too and after integration gets closed when quality assurance has
seen the fix on a master, too.

I completely agree with the need to interface with the wireless clickers
available on the market. Additionally, I have been in innumerable presentations
when the presenter is used to ppt and keeps pressing keyboards right arrow by
mistake and therefore inadvertently jumps the slide builds. This is yet another
excuse that people sometimes use to avoid using Impress at key presentations.

It would be sensible to have a check box on Slide Show Settings which remaps the
left arrow and right arrow presses to the relevant mouse click events when
Slideshow is the active window.

The check box could read: Wireless Clicker/Powerpoint Arrow Key
Compatibility.

I am sure there is a Linux (or OSX) workaround but it would make sense to
include it in the standard product for standard users.

The problem is connected to the sort lists. OOo uses the first sort list, where
the entry matches, for its recognition. If you want month names in capitals but
still be the data type 'date' (which is a sort of number), then delete the
'Jan,Feb,Mar,...' list and add a 'JAN,FEB,MAR,..' list. But then you cannot have
lower characters. I don't know a way to get both spellings.

done in ucpgio1

1) added a --enable-gio which is by default *off*
2) for places where we have ENABLE_GVFS used as a build gnome bits alias then
also allow ENABLE_GIO to build the same bits where it makes sense
3) add a gio subdir in ucb and add the provider to be only built with ENABLE_GIO
4) made it work and add a mounter and loads of refactoring and cleanups
5) in officecfg add a .xcu module to add the provider to the config as an
optional module only installed if ENABLE_GIO is enabled.

so, all in all doesn't affect the vanilla build unless at a later stage vanilla
wants to build it itself when gio becomes more prevalent than gnome-vfs2 or
wants to remove gnome-vfs2 support in favour of gio support, something I
wouldn't suggest to happen just yet. i.e. what's there stays there and this is
an optional replacement or additional provider that has to be enabled at
build-time

cmc-kso: Any comments or other potential problems ?

Hi,

the cws pdfimportfix brought a lot of nonsense into filter/source/pdfimport
directory. I really do not know
the details, why copying *.dll files is needed, but it is nonsense even if
there is some reason to do so.

Ause: this is the issue why you have asked me about these files?

This cws made the directory unbuildable with .NET 2003. Please fix this.

Hi! I would like to add some more:

For OpenOffice.org % NEXTVERSION ist nach C:\Dokumente und
Einstellungen\Name\Desktop heruntergeladen worden, the white space seems to
prevent OOo to show the version number and instead shows the text.

In a previous step, OpenOffice.org tells the user where the data will be
downloaded to. In that string, there is backslash inside the file location which
is displayed like ndash (I don't remember exactly - sorry!).

Bye, Christoph

no, if we decide on monday release status meeting, we will provide the
OpenOffice.org install set instead of the OOo-Dev installation set as the final
beta. The OpenOffice.org install sets use OpenOffice.org instead of OOo-Dev as
product name. joost will upload then the final install set for beta.

The key thing is not to overwrite data _without warning_ so Paste is now safe
(thanks for that) but drag-fill is not. If the result of the drag-fill is
actually the same as without the filter, would anything be lost by simply
disabling a drag-fill which went over rows hidden by the filter?

Hi Andre,

From the author of the file :
1st step :
After having open Draw, insert, without modifying styles, the 2 objects that
compose the drawing, the rhomb and the man head.
Save as odg file.

2nd step :
open Writer,
menu Insert Object OLE object ... creating from a file and choose the
odg file.
Save as odt file (non necessary in fact)

3rd step :
open the incorporated OLE object
select menu Format Layer ... and crash

I have just reproduced this 3 steps. I will post the ID of crash report (OOo
2.4.0) when I had received.

If a table is put at the beginning of a page / document, there's no way to
insert text before it. Also there's no way to edit text after a table if it's
followed by page-break.
Deleting page-break removes the table and there's no way to remove only the
page-break. If table is the only element, there's no way to either.

The java error is solved. The path of UserInstallation in bootstrap.ini was
wrong, I corrected it and SUN Report Builder now installs with OOoBEA300m2.

But the problem remains, that I had to install the msvcr90.dll to make it work.
Please try installing on a system, which hasn't got msvcr90.dll.

I modified the test files a little.
Unpack the files to d:\ ; load overzicht-fact-a.ods and update links
- Calc will start to allocate a lot of memory and (in my case) silently crashes

If the crash does not occur, close the file (not OOo) and do the same again.

This works in OOo 2.3 (refresh links takes just seconds)

To move after table goto end of last paragraph in right, bottom cell and press

That's on WinXp. I guess it is the same on Linux unless your operating system
catches this shortcut keys.

When a (writer) document is digitally signed, it can still be printed but it
cannot be exported to PDF without destroying the signature.
When trying to export to PDF, a dialog pops up: Saving will remove all existing
signatures. Do you want to continue saving the document?.
Since exporting to PDF is equivalent to printing, this should be possible
without restrictions.

It will be nice if OpenOffice provide capability to Set Print Area. This will
allow user to set range of cells to be printed.

I've compiled a sheet with 17 publicly available files. From those 17 files,
DEV300_m9 only gave the same word count as Word 2000 for two files (one txt file
and one Word file), so I consider this issue isn't fixed.

[sw-issues] [Issue 88510] Word count/statistics of d ocuments saved with another build not updated if you don't make changes

troodon-fme

This is done because reading the document statistic is not implemented in the
current Word filter, which results in a word count = 0 (in contrast to the
 rtf filter).

If the RTF filter reads the statiscs from the document, I assume OOo should give
the same word count as Word for unchanged documents, but OOo gives a different
word count. So, if a word count is not performed, why OOo gives another nubmer?

If the document is modified and the word count is requested before the
 background word count has finished
(e.g., by opening the word count dialog or by saving the document), a
foreground word count is started, i.e., you have to wait for the word count
to finish. You suggest to update the word count for unchanged documents if
the user opens the word count dialog. This could mean that the user would have
to wait quite some time before the result is shown, even if the document
hasn't been modified and there was a word count stored in the document.

This is a user requested action, so I think the user accepts to wait for it.
Also, what does quite some time mean for you? In both Word and WordPerfect the
first word count usually takes just some seconds even for large documents
(+2 words). And they perform it even for unchanged documents.

What if the user opens a document and immediately wants to save it again,
without making any modifications. In this situation, the word count is also
requested. Should the word count update be forced in this situation,
prolonging the save process? I don't think so, in my opinion we should use
the word count which has been stored in the document, as long as the document
 is unchanged.

No word count requested - nothing to wait for - the document can be saved
as-is.

Word count requested - wait for word count completion - update the word count
stored in the document - only now allow to exit the word count/statistics -
user requests document saving - the document can be saved with the new word
count via the normal save procedure.

Also please note that, aside from documents with a wrong word count, different
word processors do the word count in different ways. So if the user requests a
word count in OOo, OOo loads the old word count, then the user types 10 words
and requests a new word count, the difference between the updated word count and
the old one can be much larger than 10 words (see the testcase I posted in issue
80815 - there are differences as large as 1000 words!) and that could look very
unconsistent for the user.

But I agree with you that
File-Properties-Statistics-Update should trigger a word count for
unmodified documents. Can we agree upon this?

On this I agree with you :-).

In addition to this issue, it will be nice if user can do both deleting and
adding column or row to merged cells as well. Since this operation is used
quite a lot for editing reports.
Steps of adding column to merged cells:
1. Merged cells A1:D1
2. Select Column B
3. Go to Insert - Column
4. Get Inserting into merged ranges not possible

Hi,

I use Base as a frontend to connect to a MySQL database I built, using the JDBC
connector.

I have a table with a field supposed to keep the modification time:
modified timestamp NOT NULL default CURRENT_TIMESTAMP on update
CURRENT_TIMESTAMP

I populate my table with Python or using insert commands from MySQL Query
browser and as expected data entries are created and the 'modified' field
receives the current timestamp.

Now in Base I built a GUI with a table control capable of displaying other
fields and the timestamp. Opening the base works and timestamps are correctly
displayed. Interestingly, if I update a current entry, the timestamp is also
updated accordingly (as expected because of 'on update CURRENT_TIMESTAMP'.

However, if I try to create a new entry from the table control, I get this error
message: Error writing data to database Input required in field 'modified'.
please enter a value. Note that using insert within the MySQL query browser
still works.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something wrong with the way base posts
the insert command to the database?

Thanks.

Funny thing is gedit used to move the preedit around like we do now.
When I switched to an Hangul XIM like nabi in Fedora Rawhide, gedit behaved
correctly. Given that, I assume it's scim's fault.

cmc-modestcode: I have the patch here applied in the fedora OOo variant, and
you say you're using fedora rawhide, so is the *fedora* OpenOffice.org behaviour
correct or broken ? i.e. I mean...

1) In vanilla openoffice.org downloaded from www.openoffice.org this is what
happens with hangul scim in calc.
scenario a
1.a.1) Single click in A1 ctrl+space to activate hangul scim
1.a.2) qkfrkd
1.a.3) Single click in A2, cursor moves to A2 and an uncommitted glyph follows
the insertion point to A2 while the other committed one stays in A1
scenario b
1.b.1) Single click in A1 ctrl+space to activate hangul scim
1.b.2) qkfrkd
1.b.3) Press down arrow, sequence is commmitted to A1. Cursor moves to empty A2

2) And this is what happend in fedora openoffice.org in rawhide/F-9 with
hangul scim in calc
scenario a
2.a.1) Single click in A1 and ctrl+space to activate hangul scim
2.a.2) qkfrkd
2.a.3) Single click in A2, full sequence is committed to A1. Cursor moves to
empty A2
2.b.1) Single click in A1 ctrl+space to activate hangul scim
2.b.2) qkfrkd
2.b.3) Press down arrow, sequence is committed to A1. Cursor moves to empty A2

Is there any problems with how we do it in fedora (version 2) ?

Using version 2.4 there is a setting that allows this type of setup to
funciton. Open the dialog EditDatabaseAdvanced Settings
Remove the tick mark from the option Form data input checks for required
fields.

I have used this particular feature against MySQL/JDBC.

Formula to point to different sheet is not working on the Split Sheet at BOTTOM
RIGHT Quadrant

Steps to reproduce:
1. Divide sheet into 4 using split.
2. Click on any cell inside BOTTOM RIGHT Quadrant. The cell has to be within the
first two column from the center.
3. Type = , and go to a different sheet. e.g. Sheet3.E14
4. Result: you only get = , instead of getting the result from Sheet3.E14.

Apologies for not including the OS; I thought Issuezilla captured my browser
string. I run Gentoo Linux. I changed the OS field of this bug from Windows XP
back to All, since apparently it affects at least Linux and Windows. I have no
reason to think it doesn't affect other OSes.

About the sort list suggestion: I don't want /month names/ in capitals -- I want
the specific NOV string in capitals, because in my case it is a stock symbol
rather than a month name. So changing the sort list would be throwing out the
baby with the bathwater.

Maybe a solution would be to make sort lists case-insensitive and not to
correct cells based on sort lists?

Issue is still present in BEA300_m1.

Also, I've just installed Sidux (64 bit) on a spare partition. This issue is
present in it as well.

I suspect an unmet dependency in Debian?

But, my laptop is running Mepis_64 upgraded to Sid, and does NOT have this
issue...

Will try to draft some other Mepis users to verify the presence of this issue on
their systems...

Also might be good to bring Pavel in on this in case it's a problem with his
builds. I don't know his user name here.

the problem during export is in Outliner::CalcFieldValue, the call to
aCalcFieldValueHdl.IsSet() returns false and an empty string is returned.

This could be fixed by returning SvxURLField::GetRepresentation() in this case I
guess, but the real cause should be fixed.

I can't figure out why the link is not set, maybe because the old SwDoc is
killed during saving? But then I don't understand why it works for DrawObject,
there the link is still available

When I prepend NOV with an apostrophe, the apostrophe ends up in the cell as
well. Do I need to enable an option to get OOCalc to remove the apostrophe once
I submit cell data?

OOCalc's behavior of propercasing month names is not documented, as far as I can
tell. At the very least OOCalc should treat this correction the same as other
AutoCorrect options and allow Ctrl-Z to undo it.

Well, is that really invalid? I mean, isn't that a design problem with Base
itself ? If a field has default values in MySQL, shouldn't Base detect it? Now
this feature makes it difficult to redistribute frontends for MySQL db, as you
need to change an option in the client.

The one issue is the support for Quattro Pro files. This is a thread in the
users mail list as well.

Lack of support is a deal breaker in this case.

Gnumeric will open wb3 files, kspread just crashes.

Neither will open qpw files.

i started a text area object, wrote some lines, selected the lines and pressed
the bullets icon on the toolbar.the selected lines got bullets beside them
BUT...

it was not acting as a list !

the up/down/in/out list's arrows icons did not work.
i am unable to move items up/down the list or move an item into sub/super level
in the list.

when i use the default template of a new slide with bullet list all works fine.

it is a usability issue.

when in rtl mode...
the bullet-list arrows icons for up/down/in/out list item manipulation is a
little bit confusion. especially the left / right arrows for moving the list
items into sub level and back into upper level.

maybe they should be inverted in rtl mode ?
maybe we should have a more natural icons that express more accurately the
nature of the sub-level / up-level functions of a list's item ?

Today I was talking to a WordPerfect user that won't use OOo without a reveal
codes like feature.

Again the issue of styles and how they work is not the way that WordPerfect
users want to work.

This conversation started due to major problems with Windows and his thought of
moving to Linux.

I at least convinced him to load OOo onto his computer and try it for all the
other features.

i have a mixed text of hebrew and english words in a text object - slide's title

when i select the entire text (ctrl-a) and change the font, only the english
words get the new font style. the hebrew text remains the same.
selecting specific hebrew words and choosing a new font does change the font.

in a newly drawn text area all works fine. (in writer it works just fine too)
this happens in a slide's template where i choose a single title + a single text
area box.

What is 'formatted text'? The term does not appear in the help index.
In what sense is the string copied 'dd' not formatted?
Special rules for empty paragraphs may be useful, provided they help rather than
surprise the user. (Hey! What happened to my paragraph?)

Yes - I think it's usability problem, if editing in this case is only possible
with shortcuts.
I consider myself power user, yet I didn't know about this possibility and
searching on google didn't give me any answer. I also don't remember any program
where similar situation is possible. Common solution to this problem is placing
cursor on the same line, just before table (upper left corner, or big cursor the
height of table) or just after (lower right corner, or big cursor).

I hope noone is going to be mad if I try to reopen with that comment...

When I try to install OO I get an error message that the
openoffice.org-core03.cab is corrupt and the application doesn't install. How
can I get another copy of this file?

Well, that would almost be perfect except it doesn't seem to work. :( I
unchecked Tools - Autocorrect - URL Recognition, but it still does it.

It's weird... I do have real URLs also in this spreadsheet, and OO is completely
confused about which ones to treat as URLs and which ones to treat as plain old
text. I have no idea how it is deciding which to treat as URLs and which as
plain text. Almost identical URLs are being treated as URL or as text seemingly
at random.

And, changing the URL Recognition option has no effect, even after I restart OO.

cmc-modestcode: I have the patch here applied in the fedora OOo variant, and
you say you're using fedora rawhide, so is the *fedora* OpenOffice.org
behaviour
correct or broken ? i.e. I mean...

cmc-For most Korean users, Fedora's behavior is correct.

Basically, all I did was create a document in Linux, transfer it to windows and
the images in the document got messed up. Like some images shifted their
position lower in the document and moved other and stuff. The images to have
captions which probably makes a difference and the document is over 75 pages. I
installed OO.org 2.4 on both machines. Ones running Ubuntu and the other Windows
XP. It doesn't look like there is a way to attach anything but you can probably
reproduce it by creating a large document with several full screen images with
captions. Create it in Linux and try to open it in Windows. The images will
probably move around.
