I committed the patches to cws kashidafix, based on DEV300m19. Any further
patches should be relative to this cws. I did not modify the vcl patch but made
some minor changes to the sw patch.

fme-hennerdrewes/hdu: To judge from your last comments I guess that work on the
vcl part has not yet been finished, is this correct?

Well, let us assume a scenario:

Someone stops me at office and tells me, Your tie is askew and your fly is
open.

Is it logical for me to say-

Unfortunately you clubbed two unrelated issues!! The only way I will close my
fly is you will have to tell me again. I know what's wrong, but policy is
policy!

You see, there is a risk that the guy will not bother again.
He would not be so passionate and caring about my closing the fly.

Worse, he will simply go around and tell others what a lout I am.

So a policy-maker in OOo community has to wake up to this problem and explain to
the front-ending QA guys NOT to bounce valid inputs in the name of policy.
Just thank the public for bothering at all, and take care of the ISSUE at hand!

I checked with Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:
[300m17 (Build9313)] and can confirm the reported effect. It seem that it's
easy to reproduce, but you never know, so I will attach a sample document.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached sample.odt
2. move mouse pointer to cell border between Dummy text 1 and Dummy text 2
mouse pointer changes to adjust type
3. Move pointer to anywhere else in a cell or outside the table
expected: mouse pointer view should change to normal
   actual: view remains modify type

It's not a really big problem, because the view changes back to normal view when
you click into a word, but it's really very ugly and visible, so I think this
should be a 3.0 blocker

I don't remember that I saw that in [300m2 (Build9301)], so I modify Version.

@raindrops:
Pls. specify your OS and contribute some information concerning the exact
version where you saw this rirst.

First, I customized a short cut-key to the font size-function (under
Format).
When pressing the designated keys (Ctrl+Shift+P in my case), the dialogue window
for Character is shown. But instead of setting focus on the Size-field, the
focus is on Font-field.
It can be worked around by pressing Tab two times.
However, my preferable action for the font size-function would be that it
enabled selecting font size directly from the Font size-field in the
Format-toolbar. Similar for font name-function, that is selecting the font
from the toolbar (should this be in another issue?).

BTW I have already mentioned that the last version I tried (300m14) was OK.
So something went wrong between m14 and m17.

P.S. Just noticed this: If I happen to move the pointer from the top side of the
table, the mouse pointer changes to a downward-pointing black arrow (table
column-selector).

So the pointer is not always row adjust: It can take any shape.

Hi,

I must guess the referred-to feature of my issue myself :-) I know I should and
do know better how to write intelligible issues.

Now: AutoCorrect is AutoKorrektur in German and it is the 4th option from the
top of the Extras menu (Tools in English probably). The feature I was referring
to probably is the word replacement table, for example, if you enter sri (in
English) it becomes autocorrected to sir (if this is in the english word
replacement table).

Now: you can't have sri in a cell whatever you do if sri is in the word
replacement table. Sometimes you do want to have such words, as in Sri
Lanka (a country), thus the auto-correction -- which is fine in almost all
cases and therefore is left on -- should NOT TOUCH WORDS, ONE _REEDITED_.

This last observation should apply to all auto-features. Maybe an enhancement
is needed for this general functionality -- or is there an issue for Microsoft
Office-like SmartTags? If you don't have this issue, I might write one but then
treat this issue as a special case for word replacement which would be nice if
it was fixed (make a counter on how often a particlar word in a particular cell
got auto-replaced. Make the counter upon first replacement and if the counter
gets 2, don't do the replacement).

Thanks, Lars

until now i was working with a very old word 97. Even that was showing the
cursor position like at 2.4cm Row 1 Col 1. This is a very helpful information
for my usage and i really miss it a lot. I can´t understand why it´s not even
implemented in the Oos 3.0 beta already being a MS standard for at least 11
years. I hope this will be implemented soon.

The following code produces an InvalidArgumentException if it is applied on a
TextDocument with at least one table:

tt = ThisComponent.TextTables
for i=0 to tt.count-1
  table = tt.getByIndex(i)
  cursor = table.Anchor.Text.createTextCursorByRange(table.Anchor)
next i

It seems that table.Anchor is corrupt as also xray produces a lot of Exceptions
when inspecting the object. IMO table.Anchor should be an object that represents
a XTextRange in the Text-Objects that contains the table. The object is not
comparable via table.Anchor.Text.compareRegionStarts(table.Anchor,
table.Anchor.Text.Start), too.

I Just Think that when the media player is visible/open and you double click a
sound it shoudn't change the gallery view to just show the one you double
clicked and should keep it showing all of them.

i'm sorry if it's not a defect.

also i'm sorry for the mutiple posts of this bug, the internet was slow and i

Off hand, I think that it is working as it should. Based on your feedback, I
performed a few experiments.

I found a word that would change with auto-correct.

1. Type word in the cell.
2. Type a space.
3. Auto-correct changes the word
4. Use Ctrl+Z to change the word back.

The example above worked because there was a space after the word. Now, lets try
another one.

1. Pre F2 to enter edit mode.
2. Enter the word
3. Use Shift+Home to select the word
4. Press Tab to leave the cell

no time, wife handing me a baby...

Note that on the auto-correct menu, you can suspend any of the replacement
options (such as table lookup).

OOo does have a smart tag feature, I tested it in version 2.4

Umlauts and special characters are not correctly displayed within an in Word
embedded Excel sheet which is opened with OO 3.0 Beta (build m19) on OS X

Short discription on how to see this failure:

- Create a Word document with Word 2004 (German version 11.3) for Mac OS X
- Type some Umlauts or special characters into the Word document
- Embed an Excel sheet as an object
- Type some Umlauts or special characters into the Excel sheet
- Return to Word and save the document as Word document
- Open this document with OO 3.0 Beta (build m19) on OS X (10.5.3 e.g.)
- Umlauts within the standard text area are displayed correctly
- Umlauts within the embedded Excel sheet are not displayed correctly
- Opening the embedded Excel sheet with a double click displays the Umlauts
correctly

I am using Openoffice 2.4.0 from Kubuntu packages, Hardy Heron.

There seems to be inconsistent behavior regarding editing bullets.

Look at the attachment

When I stand by the cursor at the beginning of the lower paragraph which is not
bulleted .. and I click backspace

I think the expected (logical) behavior is that the lower paragraph gets
appended to the above bullet.

The inconsistent behavior is that it only sometimes behaves as explained above
but this often weirdly clears the bullet of the above paragraph.. to the effect
that if there are like ten points in ten bullets .. backspacing through the low
non-bulleted paragraph keep clearing the bullets of the above paragraph and so
forth until reaching the beginning of the document!!

I do not think this is intended behavior since the reasonable and logic behavior
is that the bullet is cleared only when I press the bulleting on/off icon or
when I backspace and the cursor is standing at the bullet.
And I don't think that the bullet must clear due to something I do in the
lowermost non-bulleted paragraph, leading to messing with the format of the
whole document.

I tried to know when it behaves correctly and when it does not .. but I failed
to find a clue.

Hi,

ok, 1. example: undo auto-correct works if there is a space following
2. example also works.

I never knew example 2. And I guess casual users who step across such a word do
neither.

Turning off word replacement in general is no option as it is useful in general
as I wrote. Removing a particular word is too tedious, nobody wants to scroll
the table.

THEREFORE: Treat a single word-replaced word in a cell as if it has a delimiter
(space, comma or therelike) following thus making Ctrl-Z (undo) work! This is
just intuitive, straight-forward and what most users expect!

OOo has a SmartTag feature? So a hint popping up on every auto-executed
function offering the possibility to refine the result of the operation? I
never came across that one in OOo!

[gsl-issues] [Issue 88878] import/export form control visibility

I don't think mbDirectVisible could be set when isEnableVisible is False.
Because the window is invisible at this time. Invisible form should not be
 set invisible or visible.

Hmm - why?

With your current code, consider the following scenario:
- EnableVisible is set to FALSE
- some instance calls setVisible( sal_False ), which means make this control
  invisible, no matter what
- now some other instance sets EnableVisible to TRUE
= suddenly, the control will appear. This would most certainly be wrong,
since the previous setVisible( sal_False ) was meant unconditionally:
   just hide it.

Also, regarding your Invisible form should not be set invisible or visible.:
The control is *not* invisible in this scenario - it's just that it's disabled
to become visible, this is what EnableVisible = FALSE means.

So, my understanding would be
- EnableVisible controls whether a control *can* be visible
- mbDirectVisible, set by setVisible, controls whether the control is actually
visible, in case EnableVisible would be TRUE at this time.

If we test the mbDirectVisible when isEnableVisible is set to True, its
behavior will be some against with the behavior set mbEnableVisible to
 False.
mbEnableVisible - False, form will be invisible, without think about
 mbDirectVisible
mbEnableVisible - True, form's behavior should similar with above, ignore
mbDirectVisible, set mbDirectVisible to True and show the form.

Again, why? This would mean that EnableVisibile is not really used in the sense
of Enable, but in the sense of do it: Whenever somebody changes
EnableVisible to TRUE, then it *will* become visible, and when somebody changes
it to FALSE, it will become invisible. This would actually mean we could have
named it Visible, because that's what it would be then. And we already said
that a pure Visible property does not work in all scenarios - for instance in
the scenario I described in the review.

I tried reproducing this crash with m17 and m17 is unusable. Text display is
totally unacceptable. The characters are so faint as to approach unreadability,
and the menu fonts are yet another size smaller making them also nearly
unreadable.

Regardless, I tried 3.0beta again on the offending HTML file, and it did not
crash. I have updated glibc in the meantime, so maybe that fixed the problem.

The options-dialog-page for Java doesn't recognize installed JVMs and doesn't
keep the manual added and selected JVM after closing and reopening the settings
dialog.
This only happens by starting OO with the -env option; without -env
everything's ok.
Manual setting JAVA_HOME in the environment, copying
javasettings_Windows_x86.xml into the profile didn't work.
Changes of other settings are saved in the specific profile. Why not the
Java-settings?

I get exactly the same problem except with my cannon MP610 printer. In order for
openoffice to print an envelope with the correct orientation I would have to
rotate the envelope 180 degrees. I can not do this as this causes a paper jam.
Software versions:
Ubuntu 8.04 (Linux distribution)
Openoffice 2.4.1
Cups 1.3.7

I think that 90 degree rotation is not necessary but 180 would be ideal.

You missed my point. I'm not suggesting to change how Java itself installs at
all.
I was suggesting you check before the installation to see if it's needed at
all. If a newer version is already installed then don't run the Java installer.
The decision you have taken actually INSTALLS security threats and leaves them
open when they were previously closed.

If you, however, decide to close the issue again that is fine. However, you
should not consider it closed/resolved as the current situation is one that
needs to be prevented in the future.

In this case while the previous issue related to 2.4.0 and it was elected to
leave it since update 5 came out only days before, that was 3 months ago. Now,
3 months later the decision of 3 months ago still leaves it out of date and
installs old code under 2.4.1. A check of whether the item needs to be
installed would remove that portion of the problem.

Enter formula:in D1
=IF(A1=20.UPPER;LOOKUP(C1;{0;10;20;30};{1;2;3;4});IF(A1=20.lower;LOOKUP(C1;{0;10;20;30};{5;6;7;8});IF(A1=19;LOOKUP(C1;{0;10;20;30};{9;10;11;12}

Lookup function works only when searching ranges of values between 30 and 39.
The formula will return N/A unless they are included in the lookup list (e.g.,
'0', '10', '20'). A value of , say, '5' in C1 will return N/A.

Attached are two screen shots of oowriter-2.4.1 and oowriter-3.0m19. Fonts are
nearly illegible with 3.0m19. (This was also true of m17, but not the public
OOo-3.0beta).

Notice also that the m19 version is overall smaller than the 2.4.1 version. Both
are displayed at 150% and are using the same *.odt file.

I am using TrueType fonts: Syntax LT, Syntax LT Black, MetaBook-Plus and Sabon
RomanOSF.

x11-apps/xfs-1.0.5
x11-libs/cairo-1.6.4
media-libs/freetype-2.3.6

I've set the priority to P2 because clearly you can't ship until this is fixed.

This thread has been informative to me. It confirms the valuable utility of the
cursor position information. It also indicates highlights the challenge of
designing, programming, and enhancing an application of the complexity of OOo.
As in the construction of buildings, it can be much easier to add a feature
during the initial design phase than to retro-fit it after completion of the
construction of that design. If the space in the status bar has already been
allocated then it could be quite a problem to add this functionality while
maintaining the others which already consume the space in the status bar. OOo
has some advantages over MS Word. OOo is not intended to be a copy of MS Word.
Microsoft does create some annoying problems for the world. If their software
had no benefits or advantages whatsoever, their position in the market could
never have grown to the point that they could cause a problem.

I've done a fair amount of research on this, as I could not get the Avery
Letter Size labels to print properly. I've developed a workaround, but would
much prefer the settings to be fixed automatically. Here's the process:

1. Choose Avery Letter Size and the appropriate label number from the list
2. Check the page size (Format - Page) and change it to Letter (the label
frames may jump to a new page)
3. Right Click on a frame border and choose Frame
4. On the Wrap tab, change the right spacing to match the left margin on the
page settings
5. On the Options tab, you may also need to uncheck the Protect position box

When this is all done, the page should be Letter Size, the frames are all back
on the same page, and the labels should print properly

When I have an ODT file (e.g., flier.odt) in a directory with asterisks in the
name (e.g., M*A*S*H), and I try to Export Directly as PDF, I get the following
error:

OpenOffice.org 2.4
Error saving the document flier:
Inadmissible path.
The input syntax is invalid.

Workaround: rename the directory to a name without asterisks (e.g., MASH)

There may be other characters besides asterisks that the filesystem supports,
but that trigger this bug.

Data: one document, 5 pages long, one table only, five columns, contents: text
(copied from web pages), 1-2 lines, + URLs.

I get to the point I can only load the document, but not that I cannot edit
it, I cannot even see it, because when I hit page down, or down arrow key, the
OO crashes and the document is marked for repair.

The problem also existed in 2.4.0.

On my OO.org 2.4 on Win32 (Italian translation) the regex do not work correctly;
if you put in the search box
[A-Z][a-z]*
and in the replace box

the replaced words have a x appended; e.g. this:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Maecenas tincidunt
metus vitae tortor. Sed elementum luctus diam. Etiam lorem.
becomes
Loremx ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Maecenasx tincidunt
metus vitae tortor. Sedx elementum luctus diam. Etiamx lorem.
.
Note that even if you change around the expression, e.g. putting $0 instead of
, or ([A-Z][a-z]*) and $1 the bug do not disappear. With some different regexes
(but still with in the replace box) I also found that the text was replaced
with the searched string only few times, and then with an ampersand ();
changing the in a $0 didn't solve the problem (the words were replaced with
$0).
The issue seems to be Win32-only (I reproduced it on Windows XP SP3 and Windows
2000 SP4), since on Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) these regexes work fine.

Steps to reproduce with Dev300_m19 :
- open a text document written under OOo 2.4. This document must have numbered
chapters (Tools Chapter numbering)
- save the document under another name (ODF 1.2) and reload (File reload)
= numbering level 2 disappears and it not possible to repair the numebring.

OS: Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 linux. Also Test with Win2KP and Windows XP.

I just recently modified a CD label for Ubuntu using this PDF:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=ubuntu_CD_804.pdf

From: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing

File opens and can be modified with pdfedit and Adobe Acrobat 6. However when
opening with OOo 3.0 M17 the CD label graphic is missing and only the text
appears.

Other PDF's that I have tested do import the graphics, so perhaps it is an eps
import issue. Looking at the file properties in Adobe Reader 8 I find:
Title: ubuntu_CD_aw.eps
The original eps file is here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=ubuntu_CD_aw.eps

Hi Norbert,
I don't want to cause any conflict here, so I appeal to you...
How can an Issue that hasn't been touched in 4+ years with NO target, only one
vote and no one added to the CC be considered Priority 2?... Please read the
Priority info and consider downgrading.
http://qa.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority

Many thanks
Andrew

Please consider re-testing with one of the latest versions of OOo and providing
an update / further information. Cheers.

Lowering Issue priority...

From: http://qa.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority
P2 - Marks severe problems which affect a significant number of customers.
Issues with this priority must be fixed before the target release ... and should
be dealt with as soon as possible. Not fixing them for the target release is not
acceptable.
