A safe mode should allow OpenOffice.org to run without extensions, so that Extension Manager can be more reliably used for management. — On Mac OS X: safe modes (of operating system, of applications) are sometimes (not always) achieved by holding the shift key when the OS or application is started. On other OSes: other routes to safe modes may be preferred. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [porting-issues] [Issue 46594] Port for Windows XP x64
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46594 --- Additional comments from m...@openoffice.org Sat Feb 7 09:03:49 + 2009 --- C++ code developed in Win32 systems is based on the ILP32 model, where int, long, and pointer types are 32 bits. UNIX systems follow the LP64 model, where long and pointer types are 64 bits, but ints remain 32 bits. For the (Windows) Application Binary Interface on x64, ILP is 32 bits : 32 bits : 64 bits. (Note this is different than the ILP for 64-bit Linux) So, before even beginning to move code over to the new platform, make sure you're not making assumptions about the width of these data primitives. also see: http://www.unix.org/version2/whatsnew/lp64_wp.html http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/aix/library/au-porting2/index.html http://developer.amd.com/documentation/articles/pages/372005120.aspx so a Windows 64bit edition will not just be a matter of recompiling the stuff for 64bit, there will be some more efforts in doing the review of the used data type and then following some QA work. The 32bit version of OpenOffice.org is running well on 64bit Windows and currently the most common use cases for Office productivity don't require the advantages of the 64bit model. I expect that some porting work will start once Windows x64 get broader installation basis. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This needs to be addressed by the server admins - the problem appears to be that caching continues to be enabled even when the user is logged in. The standard practice is to disable caching when the user is logged in. It might be that this setting was changed when demand for OOo 3 went through the roof in order to help the website cope with the load. However, now it is an annoying nuisance as it produces false feedback when the user is logged in (some pages will say that the user is not logged in even when they are - pressing CTRL+F5 (force refresh) will get the page to show the correct status) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Moreover, having default behavior as being a standard open dialog is not so abnormal. Anyway, it is now a fact (at least in oo 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 on windows platforms as far as I experimented myself) that the initialization is mandatory. Well ok, but I suggest then that the IDL documentation clearly mention this. And that the embedded Macro- Tools - GetFileName be corrected : because it does not work anymore (curiously the correct initialization code has been commented out ! probably by another man who changed also his mind). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 98996] Improvement in word comple tion
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=98996 Issue #|98996 Summary|Improvement in word completion Component|Word processor Version|OOO300m9 Platform|Unknown URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|borsotti --- Additional comments from borso...@openoffice.org Sat Feb 7 17:05:52 + 2009 --- When word completion is enabled, and the initial few characters of a word (present in the word list) are entered, a completion is presented. When there is more than one completion, and the presented one is not the one wanted, the user can either reject completions at all, and complete himself the word, or enter ctrl-tab to cycle thru completions. In this case word completion is almost useless since the number of ctrl-tab's to be entered and the pain to hit two keys simultaneously is most of the times higher than completing the word. In my everyday experience at least half of the words have more than one completion. This means that a very useful feature fails to provide its benefits half of the times. This could be overcome by displaying the completions one each second, having the enter key (or the configured one) accept the dispayed one. Alternatively, a popup could be displayed showing all completions and letting the user click on the desired one, but this makes the user move a hand from the console to the mouse. -Angelo Borsotti - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [script-issues] [Issue 68248] cannot run or access pytho n macros on windows xp
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=68248 --- Additional comments from d...@openoffice.org Sat Feb 7 22:57:50 + 2009 --- I am a Linux user who seems to have run into the same problem. Andrew Pitonyak has been trying to give me some assistance with this matter which I believe is similar to that described by stefan. Under OOo 2.4, a Python macro was stored in a user's home directory, such as /home/provinsd/.openoffice.org2/user/Scripts/python. To select the macro, one went to Tools - Macros - Organize Macros - Python - My Macros, picked what one wanted and ran it. Under OOo 3, there appears NOT to be anywhere to place the python macros EXCEPT in /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.0/share/Scripts/python, which means that they appear with the OpenOffice.org Macros, and not in My Macros. As I've discovered (quite by accident), if I were to create a Python extension, it would appear in My Macros. This seems (to me at least) to be inappropriate. Has OOo 3 made an undocumented change to the creation and storage of python macros, or is this a bug? I look forward to hearing from you. Dialects of this language is spoken by a few million people in Ecuador. I've got a working small test database, however there is an issue: There is no entry for Kichwa anywhere (in english possibly Quichua). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quichua I would suggest a locale/language code of qi-EC (Quichua as spoken in Ecuador) The closest I get is qu, see Quechua in http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php At home I run ubuntu 8.10. Can somehting be done locally do add this language? As an ugly hack I downloaded english(South Africa) and overwrote the .dic and .aff files with my Kichwa - it worked! best, Arno (new to this :) ) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 99005] text selection succeeds bu t renders different bitmaps instead of black h ighlighting
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=99005 Issue #|99005 Summary|text selection succeeds but renders different bitmaps |instead of black highlighting Component|Word processor Version|OOo 3.0.1 Platform|Macintosh URL| OS/Version|Mac OS X Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|bporter --- Additional comments from bpor...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 8 07:11:41 + 2009 --- in 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 on Mac OS X, several situations can cause text selection to get confused - the selected text renders as a bitmap of a different part of the document. This can occur both after certain selection events and doing a find for a period of time. The only way to resolve is to quit OO altogether and re-open the document. This is mostly caused by doing a series of scrolling around using the trackpad then clicking on a location and selecting using the keyboard for me. The most reproducible behavior seems to be when you use the keyboard to continue selecting words (alt-cmd-arrow) until you go past a note added at the end of a paragraph. Further selections will work, but will not render any black text box. Scrolling can then cause the wrong bitmaps to occur. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
