I understand you may be tired of answering me, I may be quite heavy with my
requests at times; as well as I am sorry for my English if that is not clear 
enough.

Though my problem has nothing to do with inserting notes in footnotes or 
whatever.

I try to put it as squarely as possible: I inserted some notes in the NORMAL
TEXT of the document and chose to show the content of the notes at the end of
the document; the other possibility was to have that content at the bottom of
the same page of the references - unfortunately I did not find the possibility
of keeping it at the end of the chapter, what would have been very nice.

The notes show correctly at the end of the document as requested; BUT they start
at the very top of their first page and I found no way to add text before; what
I would need to add a title.

 When I choose custom install in Install Wizard and did not install Draw module.
 
How to reproduce this problem:
1. click setup.exe and start up Installation Wizard
2. click next on welcome section.
3. click next on registrate user information section.
4. check "custom" on Setup Type section.
5. click OpenOffice.org Draw module and select "This feature will no be
available" in pop up menu.
6. click next until finish the Install Wizard.
7. check the file association of .odg(Draw).
 
 Expected results:
  the file association of .odg(Draw) should not change in this case.

Hi SupportTeam,

I have a problem with openoffice 3.0.0 (Ver.OOO300m9). It's reference with open 
office Calc. I have one spreedsheet file which is having error shown while 
opening "This not a WinWord97 file ". I'm trying to open with MSoffice 2007. 
After that the file is recovered but showing missing some data in spredsheet

1 Create a new Impress file
2 Apply "Vertical Title, Vertical Text" layouts for slide 1
3 Input more than one outline for slide 1, like "outline1, outline2, outline3"
4 Select these outlines, click "Text direction from left to right", then Pay
  attention to the text alignment

Result
After step 4, text seems to be on the right of the text box; but text alignment 
is "Align left" on the toolbar.

Expectation

installation file seems to be ok.
I can't see anything unexpected in the way reporter installed.

Does anyone remember the history of the installation option "delete older
versions"? I believe I saw during the default installation for 3.0(?), but then
it moved to the customer installation (with 3.1.1?). So I accidently deleted my
2.4.1.

It seems you still have a working 2.4.1 on your PC? Can you repair it in "System
settings / Software" (I use XP German, so I do not know how it is named 
correctly)?
Does that heal you problem so that you can use 2.4.1 without restrictions?
If the file relation OOo - ODF document breaks again when you uninstall 2.4.1
after the test I mentioned before and the relation reappears when you reinstall
2.4.1 again, that would prove that you really have an OOo problem and not a
VISTA problem.

I strongly recommend to discuss this problem in user mailing list and forum,
there you will reach much more VISTA users. May be your discussion there might
generate new knowledge to find out what causes your problem, and that knowledge
might help here.

I've tried this on my new laptop, which is an Intel Core2 Duo P8600, in Windows
Vista: obviously things works better, but the bug is still there.
Try this: open the attached example with any 3.x version and insert a new line
wherever there's a column with numeric values (e.g. line 15), try and insert a
numeric value in the new space created in column J. Note if you have to make
frequent insertions or changes the slow down is unacceptable.
Try the same thing in any 2.4.x version and... surprise: no slow-down.
Please someone confirm!

but when text lose focus, text align becomes the original alignment, but it

If you copy a small block of data from Calc (more than one column) and paste it
into another application that isn't Writer, such as any other text editor, the
data gets collapsed into one long column. Example: If I have a Calc document
with six columns and several rows like the following:

fs->oj: There seems to be some inconsistency in how binary streams are handled
in the RowSet (or perhaps the driver returns wrong meta data?) ...

The form calls updateBinaryStream at the RowSet, with a stream containing the
complete image. The RowSet decides to store this as byte sequence, since it
thinks that the respective column is of type VARCHAR. When insertRow is called,
the cache tries to pass the stream as statement parameter, it recognizes the
column is of type BLOB, and thus tries to extract a stream from the column value
- which fails, since the RowSet wrote a by sequence.

So, what astonishes me is that the RowSet and the RowSetCache have different
opinions on the type of the column. This should either be fixed, and/or the
RowSetCache code which tries to write a BLOB should be able to handle byte
sequences, too.

-I always download them myself from the http://www.openoffice.org/ site. That
filename name of the 3.1.0 version was a little different for I changed it so I
could quickly locate it on my external hard drive, but I just changed it back to
the original filename before making the following checksum test.

-My checksum test for each of the files are:

-I didn't have any error message whatsoever when I installed it on my:
  Windows Vista Hm Prem Service Pk1 and CPU 2.6GHz Pentium 4 32bit OS 3GB RAM,
and I don't remember exactly in every bit of detail for it wasn't too resent,
But I do remember that I went as a regular installation of any other software as
normal by following the directions of the installation at hand.
I'll try my best to look back. This is how it went:

-I was using my stable 2.4.1 and I found out about the new 3.1.0 version of
OpenOffice and I decided to download it.
-I went to http://www.openoffice.org and click on the link and started the
download. 
-After the download was complete, I “clicked” on the downloaded file:
“Ooo_3.1.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe”
(don't remember if I renamed it “OpenOffice_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe”
before saving it or after it was downloaded later).
-Then it opened the installation software which I followed by clicking on next
button and so on till the last part of the installation where it says finish or
so and I click to finish.
-And the installation was successfully done. And the installation program closes
as I expect it to occur.
-The whole installation process went as I expected.
-Next, right after the installation finished, I noticed the color of all the
“icons” & “file extension” of the OpenOffice application .doc .xls .ppt
etc...have been changed to “white” (that is, including all the formats the
OpenOffice reads).
-Then I “left mouse click” on a file on my screen that had turned “white” to
open it normally as I expect, and it did not open “OpenOffice” as I had
expected, but rather a screen named “Windows” saying: 
“Windows cannot open this file”.

To open this file, Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open
it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually
select from a list of programs that are installed in your computer.
What do you want to do?
• Use the Web service to find the correct program
• Select a program from a list of installed programs

-This as totally unexpected for I was expecting it to open automatically.
-Then I selected the option “Select a program from a list of installed programs”
by “left mouse click” on “OK”.

-When I “left mouse click” to select to open the file with:
OpenOffice.org 2.4
with the selected area box “Always use the selected program to open this kind of
file” it fixes the white icon and file extensions that had previously turned
white after the 3.1.0 /3.1.1,
but “obviously” it always opens only 2.4.1 since the versions 3.1.0 /3.1.1 do
not appear on the window “Open With”.
-Even when I choose the option of “browse” on the window “Open With”, and look
for the location of the installed version 3.1.0 /3.1.1 at:
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\program\swriter.exe (for example)
it ignores the selection of the application and goes right back to the initial
“Open With” screen.
-It other words it acts as if any file .doc .xls .ppt etc... are non existent to
my installed version 3.1.0 or 3.1.1 and these versions don't recognize them.

-That's all the info I can really tell you from my end with the wording, that I
observed before and after the installation of the refereed “3.1.0 or 3.1.1” file
versions when I noticed the color of all the “icons” & “file extension” turn
white and do not automatically launches 3.1.0 or 3.1.1 on any file .doc .xls
.ppt etc...  when I “left mouse click” twice to open them as I had expected.

-I'm going to do a final test that I haven't done, that is to uninstall both the
2.4.1 and 3.1.1 that I currently have installed, then reboot and install only
the 3.1.1 version and reboot again, and see if the file

Been able to replicate the slide renaming problem. However, found some inserting
points.
1) Create a new Presentation. Rename it to "Something"
2) Try to rename it to "Slide"("S" should be capital) + Something . You will
notice as you write down the "Slide" word and you press space-bar after "Slide"
word (With Capital "S"), the "Ok" button of the Rename Slide becomes in-active.
However if you write down the Slide word like "slide" and then you press the
space bar nothing happens the Ok button stays active.

Its happening only by writing the word "Slide"

Using Windows Vista SP2 and Open Office version 3.1.1 OOO310m19 (Build:9240),
replicated the bug by performing the same steps described in Tue Dec 30 19:06:00
+ 2008 and also performed the interesting addition by  wope Tue Dec 30
19:18:58 + 2008.

It seems like open office one file date format is keeping track of the other
file date format, though the other file is not saved but still affecting the
date format of the file that has been save.

Used my random graphics test 2.odt and was able to recreate this issue.Was able
to replicate the error. Not only the copy paste error but also some more errors

write text below the picture and we press "Enter" key between the picture and
text placing it works fine, however if we don't press "Enter" key it will not
paste the whole contents.

I checked with 32bit on Suse and 64bit OOo 3.1.1 on ubuntu but I could not
detect a problem like the described. Highest OOo cpu peak was 12%. I think it is
a problem of the OOo build provided by Novell or something with the XServer.

I noticed that, if effect, "Web Layout" is not supported for multiple windows
(views) of the same document in OO.org Writer.

Using: openoffice.org-writer   1:3.1.1-1ubuntu1~jaunty1

Reproduce (1):
1. Open a Writer document (can be new, empty, unsaved if you wish).
2. View-->"Web Layout"
3. Window-->"New Window".  BUG: "New Window" is grayed out, unavailable.

Reproduce (2):
1. Open a Writer document (can be new, empty, unsaved if you wish).
2. View-->"Print Layout"
3. Window-->"New Window".  A new window/viewport pops up.
4. On one of thees windows: View-->"Web Layout".  BUG: All except for one of the
windows for that document close.

I don't see why Web Layout is not supported.  It also made me unsure about the
"New Window" feature - I thought it was totally broken until I had to discover
this bug on my own.  Also, in the steps of "reproduce (2)", there is no warning
that all of those windows and their scroll positions will be lost if I switch to
Web Layout.

All in all, this is unexpected behavior.

I opened it with file-open dialog. The OOo dialog showed these files with blank
filenames, nothing there (MacBook). But my Mac mini runs with Snow has no

When the layout is changed then presentation objects (called placeholders above)
are removed and inserted.  The corresponding accessibility objects have already
been removed and created correctly.  The children that represent paragraphs of
text have not been created right away.  The reason for this was an optimization
that tried to prevent to create those paragraphs when not needed.  It was,
however, not detected when text was set at a shape and accessible paragraphs
could and should be created for it.

Technicalities:
AccessibleShape::Init() create and AccessibleEmptyEditSource, a proxy, instead
of SvxTextEditSource when at the time Init() was called the SdrObject did not
yet have a OutlinerParaObject.  This proxy was not replaced by the real thing
when text was set and an OutlinerParaObject became available.

Fixed by calling AccessibleEmptyEditSource::Switch2ProxyEditSource() when the
OutlinerParaObject becomes available.
With the fix the accersizer shows the correct sub-tree of accessibility objects
for the presentation objects.

Openoffice.org 3.1.1 [310m19 (build:9420)] appears to crash on start-up if the 
application is invoked 
using the open with route from the document.

If OpenOffice is already running the problem does not occur.

Running Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerPC, attempting to open Word format 
documents, but previously also 
Excel format documents.

Have trashed previous preferences.

It seems that I can confirm that the problem only exists for installation
without JRE. I had to install OOo newly after I uninstalled all old versions and
deleted all old program folders (except 1.1.4). This time I used
"OOo_3.1.1_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_de.exe", and no reboot was required.

Well, this defect may be a missing feature... However it used to work on OOo
WinXP and NeoOffice (MacOS X).

When draging an image file from the Mac OS Desktop or Finder to a window with an
open (and editable) OOo presentation, the cursor changes into a green "+" as
expected, but then when dropping the image nothing happens. 

The expected behavior would be insertion of the image in the presentation. It
does not work. The image insertion using the menu entry works fine though.

Having a look at your screenshots it seems that Kaspersky interferes the mouse
events and OO Writer interprets this as drag-and-drop process. Does this still
happen when you disable Kaspersky at this moment?

Hi,
I received an email last evening shortly before I left on a business trip 
asking me to download and install the src tarball OOo in place of the OpenSuse 
OOo rpm in order to try and narrow down where the problem lies.  I won't be 
able to do that for a week-and-a-half until I get back from my business trip.

I had the problem both on my 64 bit system laptop and on my 32 bit system 
desktop both with OOo 3.1.1 installled with Opensuse.  I tried it on elive 
which has OOo 2.6 installed and didn't have the problem of computer chugging.  
But the fontwork didn't render correctly, they were much thinner than in 
3.1.1.  I also checked in 2.6 to see if I could disable antialiasing, and there 
was no selection box for this in tools>options>view.

There's a misconception - this issue is not the same as 5930. The Summary should
be changed to SI notation. Engineering notation is as per the proposed
substitute, which is what Issue 5930 is all about.

A similar (if not entirely duplicate) of this seems to be Issue 53587. Where 
that
differs from this issue is the 2nd request for Binary notation. See that issue
for the additional Conversion function to Binary notation (e.g. 1024 becomes
1.0Ki). I've attached a spreadsheet there which provides a work-around to all 3
issues (5930, 24272 and 53587). It's not a solution since it uses conversion
functions instead of Cell Formatting, but at least you could get the correctly
formatted "value" to show in the cell.

When the link in the 1st column of the table is clicked, the "Kaspersky Internet
Security" program asks for my authorization to allow Mozilla Firefox to read a
protected register key belonging to Mozilla Thunderbird. After my authorization
and a further click on "Allow this time only", the Internet page gets opened and
the clicked iperlink text moves down, outside the table. This also happens when
the link is not on the last line of the table.

Regarding your "Indice Analitico" (which is called "Alphabetical Index" in 
English):
You have to assign a Heading style which is applied in Tools.Outline numbering
(by default "Heading 1" paragraph style) to the Heading of your index. This is
done in the Index dialog on the "Styles" tab.
Please for the future, ask such questions in one of the OOo newsgroups or
mailing lists as long as this is an issue tracker and not a support forum.

Regarding your notes problem, I do not understand your description. What kind of
notes are you talking about? And where do you try to put headers there?

Apparently it was enough to remove the Paragraph numbering that somehow creeped 
in.
Actually I manually entered the numbers in the pages for each page type as I was
puzzled by the many list that appear in Format.paragraph.numbering, the first of
which gave those weird numbers until I now removed.

Is there a way to number the whole document automatically?

MRU->OD: see attached sample. There are many different page styles used in the
document. List style "Numbering 1" is used in the footers and it is counted
incorrectly across the pages.

MRU->fbartolom: at the moment it is the best to completely delete this list
style from the paragraphs in the footers. For every different page style, in the
footer paragraph go to Format.Paragraph.Numbering and set the list style to 
"None".
