The crash is in Gtk file picker, therefore it's Fedora specific. I remember
similar issue (also reported here) where a crash was caused by an invalid
assertion in file name completion in the file picker; maybe this is the same
problem.

I checked with "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [DEV300m60
(Build 9425)]" and can confirm the reported effect. 
With 2.4.1 in 40 macro runs I never saw the bar chart, whith 3.2. I saw it
several times during 40 tests.

My Basic knowledge is too poor to decide whether it's a bug or wrong code in the
macro, but because there was no problem with 2.4, I believe it's a bug.

project team.

With the Base file opened and connected. (meaning you need to enter the table
section or be displaying data in a form)

Open menu item: Tools>SQL

Enter, and execute, the command: SHUTDOWN COMPACT

You will need to close the Base file at this point - the blank lines are removed
from any attached text files.

So I could say this is as designed or WORKSFORME and call this more a support
query - but instead

@schaber - I hope you don't mind if I use your entry of this issue as a specific
use case for a more generalized issue.

"Update in text table creates blank lines" is just one instance of when users
need a compact command, to reclaim space in cached tables is another.

Currently the user must use either the CHECKPOINT DEFRAG or SHUTDOWN COMPACT
command in the SQL window. The latter command is required to purge blank lines
from attached text table files and then requires the user to close the Base 
file.

My suggestion would be to add a new item to the task list under Tables with the
string:
Compact

A description entry of:
This operation shrinks all files to the minimum size.

Clicking on the task item would:
close any open component windows (forms, dataviews, etc) 
execute the SHUTDOWN COMPACT command for the active connection
reconnect the active connection

Word count is handled by i18n work break iterator. For Chinese surrogate 
characters, which can not be

ok, the failure is not in rsc but in transex3 itself (please never paste
multiprocessing buildlogs)..

While copy/pasting and adapting you a) missed to change XCLASSPATH to CLASSPATH
as there was nothing before it so you need CLASSPATH. With that you fix the not
found stuff. And then b) you need to fix the rule to fix MANIFEST.MF for the new
paths so that it can change the MANIFEST.MF accordingly...

confirming with OOo 3.1.1

inserting u+2 into an empty document results in:

WordCount: 1   (as expected, improvement compared to the initial report)
CharacterCount: 2  (should be 1)

(instead of u+2 one could use u+20027 - that has a glyph representation in
the code2001 font)

OOo's cursor movement treats the characters as one single character, i.e. one
keypress of left/right is enough to go past the character.

PS: easiest to reproduce with gtk's unicode input method: ++u, then
charactercode, then   (or keep ctrl+shift+u pressed while entering the
code, then release)

Verified with OOo 3.1.1 Linux X64 en-US, crashing at opening:

/usr/bin/soffice: line 134: 30532 Erreur de segmentation  "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" 
"$@"

But:
opening this file with Excel2003 and immediately saving it back to Excel5.0/95
format or Excel 97/2003 make it available for OOo.

I guess it is a bug in the file itself (there were plenty of them years ago
thanks to Windows 9x faulty memory management).

So I wouldn't nominate it as a P2 because of:
- out-to-date file,
- occurs on a particular file.

In my business this fault means that we have to stop using PDF Export and start
using a 3rd-party PDF Writer, to achieve the file sizes we need.

As this is a regression - and an important one, because it torpedoes the
credibility and usefulness of the PDF Export function - it should be rated as

A Calc macro that dynamically creates a chart worked in Calc 2.4.  In 3.1, it
caused a program crash; that defect has been fixed in Dev300m60.  Now the
correct chart is displayed about half the time.  The other times, a default bar
chart, not showing the supplied data, is displayed.

This failure is being demonstrated on Windows 7 RC running in VirtualBox on a
Windows XP host.  Any platform running Calc 3.0 or 3.1 gets the program crash. 
Calc 2.4 on an Ubuntu 8.10 platform will not fail.

To demonstrate the problem, enable macros, load the attached test case, and
click on the "Run macro" button.  If the line chart is displayed, click the
chart once, and delete it with the Delete key; then click the button again.  On
occasion, this has to be done several times to see the failure.  It has never
taken as many as six tries.

fine after that.  Re-enabled option attempted to view in full screen and it 
BSoD'd

The connectors that OOo Drawing can draw are limited to the default glue-points
each shape has, that is in the center of each shape side.

If one was to develop a concept map, the connectors would distribute around this
glue-points, flooding some of them, and leaving others intact. That is where the
enhancement comes to play.

I hereby propose that the connectors are given a third 'connecting' option,
where they will target the exact center of the shape to connect and draw the
arrow (or end symbol) at the surface of the shape's contour.

MRU->MAV: I cannot reproduce a crash, but I get an error message, when I try to
import a multi-selection of templates into the template Organizer. It looks that
on Vista the Filename cannot be solved if a multi-selection is done. Single
templates can be imported.
All this on Vista, XP worked fine.

And that's why I continue to use Word Perfect as my primary word processing
program.  I am not in the publishing business, nor do I write novels.  Each page
I create has a different style, maybe not a great difference, but somewhere in
the page will be something out of the ordinary.

If I am to switch to OO, there must a way to be completely creative and that
definitely means there must be a way to display and edit formatting codes.

AW: Having a flag for SimplifiedVisualisation at the ScenePrimitive2D works
well, but the first try to add it at getFullDragClone() did work for normal 3D,
but not for CustomShape. This is because it also would have to be applied to
SdrObjCustomShape and it's geometry creation. This leads too far. As a 2nd idea
i added it to DisplayInfo where it fits nicely; the VOC then knows to create a
scene with SimplifiedVisualisation flag. testing...

In OOo Writer, when a background image is applied, it does not cover the full
page, but only the region between the margins. This is not what the user expects
from a background image. If there is some functionality behind this behavior,

I'm using the German language version/UI of Open Office on a 64bit Linux Mint 7
"Gloria" (Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty" based) with the most recent updates, including
the lates JRE (6-16). CUPS is used as printing subsystem, together with a
vendor-provided printer driver (Brother cups wrapper and lpr-drivers-bh7).

When I open the print dialog in OO Writer, the application freezes and the wohle
system's GUI becomes unresponsive. When I switch the GUI to the English language
version, printing works like expected.

This issue also was reported in the German Ubuntu forums at
http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/openoffice-3-0-3-1-friert-system-ein-sprachei/
(German language).

Open the attached document. It contains two A5 pages, each with a coordinate
system with 0,5cm grid.

When I print it in brochure, I get the pages with the correct orientation on a
DIN A4 landscape (as it was fixed in issue 104693). But the scaling is not OK.
The factor should be 1 but is not. You can measure the grid to see this error.

Now try to print it in N-Up with 1 row and 2 columns on landscape DIN A4 paper
and set 'Size' to "Original size". There should be no scaling at all, but parts
which are too large should be cut. The printing is much too small.

So this printings are both unsuitable for drawing. It is an essential property
that drawings are print without any scaling unless the user allows a scaling.

It is a reveal codes type of feature.

Reading through this thread has provided a realization that "Reveal Codes" as
per the full request is never going to happen due to the "Only Styles" group the
feels the whole world runs better when you use Styles and only Styles.  :)

To me, Reveal Codes basis in a tool to find and possibly edit the coding
involved in a document.  One of the main reasons I want Reveal Codes it so find
those stupid little formatting issues that occur between different editors on a
document when styles (MS and WP versions as well) have not been used.

Jannz Reveal Code Macro is a step in the right direction.  The idea of a Macro
of was to provide a path from the need to Reveal Codes to a method of supporting
the Styles only group.

I still feel that if the View Non-Printing Characters could be modified to show
the various formatting points, it would help a lot.

And, this is a discussion on how to implement Reveal Codes.

When I logged in today, I thought about how someone my just decide that this is
based on an old OS and decide that it should be closed to get rid of it.

the code in SwReader::Read() does not expect that...

I have noticed that with many documents, the macro and method gotoEnd() seems to
work properly. It seems that the file type makes the difference. If you import
ODT files, everything works as it should; if you import DOC files, the gotoEnd()
method only jumps to the end of the first paragraph.

The lines doing the importing in the macro are:

   sFile = ConvertToURL (sFile)
   oTextCursor.InsertDocumentFromURL (sFile, Array())

As far as I can see, it should not make any difference if you import ODT or DOC.

Use the attached test document to test the macro:

1. Open Combine_Files_11_Macro.odt and execute macro rppCombine/Main
2. Go to end of doc.
3. Select "No" to import docs into currently open doc.
4. Select document Ctrl_End_Test_02.doc several times to import it.
5. When combining the files, the macro inserts the 2nd/3rd/4th etc. instance
after line 1 of the preceding instance.

i have had a look at your patch, and tried it out.
sorry that it took so long, but i've had no time before, and the redlining code
is rather... complicated.

(aside: the patch is inverted, because you put the parameters to diff in the
wrong order; just a minor inconvenience)

Your patch unfortunately introduces a local variable nOffset; the class
SwUndoRedlineSort already has a member of the same name. This fails to build
with the Solaris compiler. Please rename your variable.

So, the problem is that the sort with redline on is implemented as a copy of the
selected nodes, followed by sorting of the original nodes, and marking the
inserted copy of the nodes (which are in original order) as a delete redline.
When the copied nodes contain frames, then these frames are also copied.
Because of the awful way frames are represented in the writer model, namely, a
section in a special area of the nodes array that precedes the body of the
document, this changes the offsets of the nodes in the sorted text.

It seems to me that the patch actually fixes the hang which is described in this
issue, by remembering the previous node (before the selection), and updating the
node indices stored in the undo object to account for the removed frames on UNDO
(and also, the inserted frames, on REDO).

Unfortunately, there is also another problem.
In order to reproduce this problem, you need to have the following:
- selection with paragraphs with a frame, as described above
- a DELETE redline in the selection
- the menu option Edit->Changes->Record must be ON
- the menu option Edit->Changes->Show must be OFF

Without the patch, on UNDO, the document content seems corrupted:
the delete redline with the copy of the nodes that was inserted by the sort is
not removed.
With the patch, on UNDO, it crashes when dereferencing pCNd->Len(),
because pCNd is 0.

The reason for this is the constructor of SwUndoRedline, and its Undo/Redo 
methods.
The code checks if there are hidden redlines in the selection, and calculates an
offset.
Apparently something is going wrong there and the offset is not correct.
(Also, i do not fully understand why there is a call to pRedlUndo->SetValues in
SwDoc::SortText)

Probably the easiest way to solve this problem would be to set the redline mode
to show all redlines in the SwDoc::SortText method (and reset it before
returning), as is done for other SwDoc methods already.

Alternatively, you could try to find out where the accounting of
SwUndoRedlineSort::nOffset goes wrong.

The problem is called by embedded image "20D25AD2302CC41C38BF.svm",
what uses Font "Frutiger". I am pretty sure that it's a "replacing not available
font" problem".

I checked with "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE-multilingual version German UI activated
[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]" and can NOT confirm the reported problem. prbaply
because I have "Frutiger" on my PC.

@fusero:
You should see the same problem on the same computers with attached
"newsample.odg" from "testkit.zip". Pls. check and contribute additional
information concerning Computers showing problems: OS, Graphic Card, "Frutiger"
available, ...

Images in Calc.  You can 
add Time, Name and some other things but not images.

This would be a great feature to have and if it could work with Exel's 
image-header it would be even

app-office/openoffice-3.1.1 (Gentoo) handles my KDE4 dark theme very poorly. 
The menu font color is black, the menu background is very dark grey, which 
makes things unreadable. Notes in oowriter are also black font/very dark grey 
background. Unreadable. Can't change this in tools > options > ooo > appearance.
The icons are all very ugly and high contrast too. Tools > options > ooo > 
accessibility has "automatically detect high contrast mode of operating system" 
turned off. It used to be on, I was told to try turning it off, I did, nothing 
helped. Tools > options > ooo > view - changing the icon style makes no 
difference. I see Galaxy (default), High Contrasty, Industrial, Crystal, Tango, 
Classic and Oxygen in the list, but it makes no difference which one I try. 
I'm fairly certain I did not have these problems with 3.1.0-r1.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge app-office/openoffice-3.1.1
2. use a dark KDE4 color scheme. Try mine. 
3. fire up oowriter or oocalc (havent tried others)

Ugly high contrast icons, unreadable notes, unreadable menus, some other things
like note pointers are missing.
