[graphics-issues] [Issue 67060] Impress PDF-Export like La tex Beamer
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=67060 --- Additional comments from nemore...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 7 09:26:03 + 2010 --- OK, some more detail: OOo impress can create animations, i.e. presentations pages which content changes over time (often triggered by click or timeout). When exporting such a page to PDF, OOo creates a single PDF page without the animations. The created page may even not ever be visible in the actual presentation as performed in OOo. On the other hand, beamer allows the creation of animations in PDF by creating several PDF pages for the same presentation page. Each PDF page shows a different step in the animation (before or after an effect: showing, hiding or moving objects). Beamer doesn't support smooth moving of objects like OOo (unless you are willing to create by hand all of the required steps) but at least the PDF file can be used for the most common (or simple) animations available in OOo. An animated page can be seen as such: * initial state * first (set of) animation * second state * second set of animations * third state * ... * final state In the current PDF export, an animated page is exported as a single PDF page, corresponding to the page as it can be seen in the slide designer (which may or may not correspond to any state visible in the presentation itself). In a beamer-like PDF export, an animated page would be exported as several PDF pages, corresponding to each or the intermediate states (the so called initial state, second state, ... final state). I'm not sure of the level of detail required for the implementation of such a feature, feel free to ask for more. I can provide examples of beamer-generated PDF files, but many examples are available on the web already, at least on the beamer website: http://latex-beamer.sourceforge.net Best regards - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I have found out about this issue using the bibliographic managements software, bibus. The initial bug reports can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=657832aid=2824340group_id=110943 Afterwards I submitted the bug to Arch Linux's bug tracker, here: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16636 This is where you can find all the details, and all the testing that has been done previously. After some time and a lot of testing I was recommended to submit a bug here. I'm not quite sure this is the correct category (Framework), but it seemed the closest category. I have also reported this bug to Novell, here (since it's go-oo related): https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561162 The way to reproduce the bug is documented in Arch Linux's bugtracker. As a workaround for Apple, WeakReferenceHelper::clear() was introduced and all client codes are fixed in cws swunlocking1, but embedserv/source/smbed/intercept.cxx was left unattended as it is compiled only in Windows build not in Mac build. Hello OO Computer: Acer Aspire 3810T-354G32n. OS: Linux. Distro: CentOS 5.4. Kernel: 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5.centos.plusPAE. OO 3.1.1 (downloaded today) version OOO310m19 Build 9420. Type of issue: software - extension. Program: Palooca, downloaded yesterday. Yesterday I added extension Palooca just downloaded yesterday evening on my OO3.1. On opening Calc there appeared a new menu Palo. The cursor could open all menus except that one. At first click it would not notice the event. At second click the OO crash notice window (unexpected problem) appeared (reproduced always). On trying to uninstall the extension, the Extension Manager failed to open on Calc or Writer and reproduced the same crash(reproduced always). Uninstalled and re-installed OO3.1. ON first loading Calc the Palo menu was there again (seems OO loads the same extensions as before uninstallation!). Problem reproduced always. This morning I uninstalled OO3.1 again and installed OO2.3.0 from CentOS directory RPMs. I added Palooca (the same .oxt). The Palo menu is now there as well and works OK. The I downloaded the last OO version as found in your repository (see version above) and installed it without uninstalling OO2.3.1. The Palo menu was again there on OO3.1.1 last version available and reproduces always just as described above. Could you please (while the problem is solved) kindly introduce this user to the procedure to be used to uninstall the offending extension and get, at least, OO3.1.1 working properly in the meantime. Reported Obba (see my report 109030) as the only deployed extension. Removed it. Failure to open the Extension Manager as discussed under this report 109028 was redressed by removing Obba, which however, as reported under 109028, always failed to install either on OO3.1 or on OO2.3.1. On the other hand, Paylooca is not detected by unopkg as deployed, while it now appears as installed b the OO3.1.1 (presently working) Extendion Manager. The contents of the first comment continue to apply as long as this further comment is taken into account for the part concerning the Extension Manager not opening, as now it opens. Sourceforge reports that Palooca's tracker has been removed. I intend to contact the Palooca team directly asap. Thank you again in advance for your support and your patience. Due to copyright issues, I will have to submit the docs privately. Please advise. Under WV, on my dual-core PC, Writer hangs loading this doc, with 50% CPU usage (100% of one core). Have to terminate with Task Manager; no dump, no recovery. This subdocument originally provoked issue 108430 but this bug is much more serious. When loaded into the master doc, no hang (but the text is truncated as per the other issue). That's a big hint that the problem occurs in laying out the text in the text frames. I will provide two copies of the file. The first one works. The only difference in the second one is that I added enough text to a one-line paragraph to make it overflow to two lines, within the second text frame. The resulting layout looked fine at the time, but: save, close, re-open, boom! Exact details to be included with the files. P2 justification: this is definitely a hang, with data loss (can't open the file to recover my changes). I don't know how many users use linked text frames, but this could bite any of them, very unexpectedly. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This bug is still present in v3.1.1 and does not depend on the platform (I could reproduce it on Kubuntu 09.10 as well). Also, it seems that the bug is not in Calc itself but in a OOo core component - writer notes seem to encounter issues with hyperlinks as well, cf http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=104513 Actually, I am not even sure, how much sense it makes in calc to create hyperlinks in notes anyway. Normally, the note is located outside of the cell it is attached to. As the note disappears if your mouse leaves the corresponding cell, you cannot hoover to click it anyway. Also, even in the edit mode of the note, clicking on the hyperlink does not open the related link adress. For me, the only work-around is to undo the automatic convertion of the adress in a hyperlink - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 21299] bug with horizontal line
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=21299 --- Additional comments from alfa...@openoffice.org Sun Feb 7 21:08:53 + 2010 --- Hello! Please, reopen: Deleting a horizotal line unintentionally inserted is too difficult and can make a new user give up using OOo. First a proposed solution, next the explanation of the problem (which is known, I believe). When the user tries to delete such a line in normal ways, i.e. using Delete or Backspace or Edit-Cut, with the cursor near the line, then OOoWriter might display either a dialog Do you want to remove the line? Y/N or a hint like If you want to remove the line, position the cursor just above the line and do FormatParagraph OK. These dialog windows should contain also a box Don't show me this message again, or better Don't show me this message within [ ] nearest days (to fill [ ] with a number) - so that the same or another user of this computer would have a chance to see the message. The window should also show a text like When you will want to reactivate such window(s), go to ... (and this text should be visible BEFORE the user decides not to see the message ever again - I have never set such a box in any product, because I am not sure I will be able to change my mind in future). The problem (discussed in the issues marked duplicates of this one): A horizontal line (considered a paragraph border) appears if I type three or more minus signs (or *,=,~,# signs) and Enter. The method to delete it IS in the help, but it is hard to find (and it does not work for old documents - do you want me to attach one, .odt?); and the user can be too confused to look at Help. (I'm using OOo 3.1.1 OOO310m19, WinXP Pro SP2.) With best regards, alfa333 - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=108967 --- Additional comments from boomerbu...@openoffice.org Mon Feb 8 01:49:36 + 2010 --- After reading atjensen's comments, I installed OOo v 3.2.0 RC5 on my XP laptop, with Java JRE 1.6.0_18, and replicated the error. I have attached a simple SQLite database file. As far as I can tell, this error would be thrown by any database file. (The issue never has been with ODBC, but with JDBC -- the specific JDBC driver described in the original post. That driver worked with OOo 3.1.1.) To set up the test environment, download Werner's driver http://www.ch- werner.de/javasqlite/javasqlite-20100131-win32.zip. From that package extract and register sqlite.jar as the Class Path, and copy the sqlite_jni.dll into some folder in the Windows path. (I just use C:\Windows\system32.) When defining the connection: The JDBC Drive Class is called SQLite.JDBCDriver The datasoure URL, (including the jdbc: part hard-coded in the dialog form) is jdbc:sqlite:/drive letter:\path\TestForOOo.db This connection itself tests fine with the built-in pings, OOo opens the linked database, and the databsae objects show up inside the OOo interface. But double-clicking the single table gets an error popup: not supported The configuration above worked without error on OOo 3.1.1. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 3959] Outline View (aka MS Word)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3959 --- Additional comments from nrtula...@openoffice.org Mon Feb 8 07:23:04 + 2010 --- I want to push back on the multiple views don't matter, just do Outline now outcry. drhatch was right to point out that this is the bottleneck, but wrong to focus on the multiple simultaneous views aspect. Mathias explained that the motivation for re-factoring the layout code is to support new views cleanly. The ability to see a document in different views simultaneously will be one result, but that is not the main reason for doing it. First they are reorganising the existing modes to support views in a more modular way. Then they can deliver several new views, not just Outline, more easily, and hopefully more stably, than writing separate standalone view modes. I have hankered for an outliner in Writer for years now. I learned to use the Navigator and Outline Numbering as recommended, but it really isn't the same, so occasionally I am forced back to Word just for outlining. But if the delay is caused by Doing The Right Thing, then I can wait a bit longer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Exporting an ODT file containing both words and inserted pictures to RTF is a disaster. The formatting is lost (eg centre justification goes to Left justification and the picture size and location is lost. So a three page document can easily become 4 or 5 pages with great white gaps, pictures misplaced onto the next page, some pictures missing and some on top of other pictures. The resulting file is completely unusable, but even if it were, attempting to import the file into Word 2000 locked up my PC, requiring a restart. This is limiting my ability to get rid of Microsoft. If I can't generate files that all my microsoft-using friends can read, I can't communicate with them. More correctly, I can -- using the PDF converter which works very well -- but that does not allow the MS-using friends to modify a file and collaborate. I wonder would this problem exist in Star Office? Is it just that I am getting what I am paying for? I suspect it may very well exist there too, so am reluctant to lay out money to find out. OOO is a great application, but it is important that it can work properly with word as it claims to do.
