It doesn't recognize the extension, because it cannot open the file. Only
Quattro
Pro version 6 is supported, for more recent versions, there is no import filter.

You need to open your files in Quattro Pro and save it to Excel format or QP 6
(wb2) format to be able to open it in OOo.

In a date field with two digits year, the conversion to four digits year is
always set to start from 1980.
For example, 5 December 80 is correctly converted to 5 December 1980.
But, 5 December 79 is converted to 5 December 2079.
ToolsOptionsOpenOffice.orggeneralInterpret years does not have any
effect at all.

[dba-issues] [Issue 110179] report builder extension 1.2 fails to install on oo.org 3.2

I attempted to get the jre _18 installed and experimented via the www.java.com
page. I won't go into the details but it didn't work. The effort resulted in
having to uninstalll all of oo.org 3.2 and reinstall from scratch. (It was
extremely time consuming.)

Sun Java doesn't appear to have a mechanism available to update Ubuntu to its
latest version. It looks like it does for all the paid OSes-- Redhat, Suse, OS X
and Windows, but there appears to be no support for Ubuntu, or general Linux.
This effort, however, has lead me to what I believe is a clearer understanding
of the problem at hand and the nature of this bug. I am going to once again
recharacterize the single problem bug of this report as follows:

Base 3.2, as installed on Ubuntu 9.10 per the process outlined earlier in this
bug report using an installation of the Sun JRE which is at version 1.6.0_15 in
the Aptitude (Synaptic) packages, fails to run any of its Wizards (Table, Query,
Form, or Reporter).

Now you may tell me that this is not a bug, and that I need to somehow get the
latest Sun JRE running on Ubuntu, but if this is your position, I could not
possibly disagree more. It is wholly *untenable* to have a database program
which is so delicately sensitive to changes in the Sun JRE. One of two things is
occuring here. Either

1) Sun's JRE product development team is taking absolutely no reasonable
backward compatibility into account or
2) Base has been written in a manner that violates JRE standards such that it
has become unduly sensitive to changes in the Sun JRE.

Either of these situations is completely untenable to anyone attempting to
manage a database using this system. You can't wake up one day, update the Sun
JRE (a common occurence), and have your database fail. If you are telling me to
accept this, you are basically telling me to give up on Base.

I don't want to give up on Base. I think it is a really good system. The more I
have worked with it, the more I realize how solid it is as a desktop rdbms. But
for these kinds of issues this product could sore. It is highly under rated, but
I think the devlopment world doesn't understand it. It fills a niche that no
other rdbmss fill other than Access and Filemaker Pro, both of which are not
Opensource and unavailable on Opensource platforms.

My application is dependent on oo.org running on an opensource OS. Nothing is
more mainstream opensource than Ubuntu. If Sun doesn't support this platform
then they simply don't support oo.org running on any opensource OS. If it is not
a paid OS, Base won't run.

I know that this is running on, but it is worth giving some history here about
my particular dbase app and what lead up to this bug report because this history
is entirely relevant to this bug report, and I didn't realize this until this
last attempt at getting this to work.

Until recently, I ran this app on oo.org on a Mac laptop running OS X 10.4 under
oo.org 2.4. The nature of this app is that the information is highly sensitive,
but it needs to be highly portable and easily available. My old Mac laptop was
easy to carry around, and didn't get used for much. It stayed off the internet
most of the time. The database was kept on a USB stick, too for greater
isolation. Upgrades to this configuration until recently were few. Until oo.org
3.2, there was no native OS X install of oo.org. While other platforms moved
forward on oo.org, I was left behind on the upgrade curve.

By the way, for the record the most critical wizard it needs access to is the
form wizard because this provides the seemless creation of UI components that
support subforms. Subforms are foundationally important in developing meaningful
and usable db apps. Trying to build such forms in design mode is unwieldy and
untenable. The wizard is essential. This is the primary wizard I need access to
right now, but they all need to work. They all have their place.

Recently, I was using the db on the Mac laptop when it failed. All the form
dropdown listers tied to queries quit populating in my form. I had changed
nothing. I was just using the system. Why this happened was a mystery, but I now
believe it was the result of a JRE update on the OS X laptop. Given the history
of oo.org updates to my PPC platform and OS X 10.4, I decided it was time to
migrate the db to a platform poised to move forward and more portable. This app
needs to be easily accessable most of the time, but highly portable. It needs to
be highly secure. It needs to not be dependent on a particular piece of hardware
like a specific laptop. The answer I came up with was as follows:

I created a VMware virtual machine that will run in VMware player on any
platform. The vm will run Ubuntu installed on an encrypted LVM partition. This
vm is

When I have a slide with a text box, and several lines in the text box, and some
of the lines have Hebrew as well as English, the spacing between lines comes out
different in OO for Windows and OO for Linux. This seems to be the case for
2.4.3 through 3.2.0.

I have a .odp file which illustrates this.

Hello Drew

someone should raise the status of this - otherwise it will not make it into
3.2.1

(note: some of the serious things with ODB did note even made to the dependency-
or the issue-list - that must be changed!)

Hi Daniel,

I'm not responsible for this project anymore.

Falko

Daniel Grund schrieb:
 Hi ft,
your argument, that things in a table are objects and should therefore
not be numbered is questionable. For me it looks like your argument is
based on implementation details (perhaps the data structures in the OO
source code are different for table contents and normal text). However,
such technicalities are of no interest to the user who wants to number
 text within tables.

At least there should be an option to enable it, even if it is disabled
 by default.

 Furthermore, looking at parts of
 http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/52193/patchV2.txt

  sal_Bool bLineNum = !IsInTab()  rLineInf.IsPaintLineNumbers()
 ---
 sal_Bool bLineNum = rLineInf.IsPaintLineNumbers()

it seems that someone put in extra work to *prevent* lines to be
numbered within tables. Don't know the source, but why not disabling
line numbering for tables by default via the information that seems to
be maintained using (the DataType of) the rLineInf variable --- instead
 of hard-wiring by !IsInTab() ?

 Best,
  Daniel

(Mohamed J. Lahrech, 3/22/2010 - I found out an exception of the above
described behavior with the font Ithornët)

Configuration #C1
OOo Version Tested: dev-3.3.0 (DEV300m75 build:9488)
OS: Windows XP HOme EDition SP3
Laptop Acer Asipre 5600, CPU Genuine Intel T2400 2x1.83GHz, RAM 1.99GB.

Configuration #C2
OOo Version Tested: 3.2.0 (OOO320m12 build:9483)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
PC Dell, CPU Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz, 3.19GHz, RAM 1.99GB.

Configuration #C3
OOo Version Tested: dev-3.3.0 (DEV300m75 build:9488)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3

Note #N1: Both OOo versions used are the latest in their category.
Note #N2: OOo version in C1 is more recent than C2.
Note #N3: I followed the steps mentioned in the precedent comment with an extra
step at the end. The new step consists to enforce Impress to render the text
using the new installed font even though it is not shown in the font list.
By enforce I mean : Typing the name of the font in the Font name, then type
Enter.

I did some investigations and all of them resulted in successful replication of
the bug except one case described in IV section.

The results of the investigations are as following:
I)Varying the Font installation method as described in the following steps:
1- Go to {Windows}\Fonts using Windows Explorer
 2- Select Menu : File\Install New Font...
3- Select the path where the font has been downloaded or copied
4- Select the font in List of Fonts:
 5- Click OK
=== I got the same result as described by this report

II)Varying the inputs:
Using some free fonts I replicated the issue successfully. The fonts used are
1942 Report (1942.ttf), G.B.BOOT (gbb__.ttf), Sick Capital Vice (sickcapital-
vice.ttf).
I downloaded them from www.dafont.com. They are free for personal use. These
fonts have been created by different persons.
== The extra step I added, did not change the results.

III)Varying the configuration (OS version, OOo version and the machine): I
succeeded to reproduce this behavior in all above described configurations C1,
C2 and C3.

IV)The exception : When I used the Ithornët (Ithornët.ttf) font in C1, I
noticed that the text is rendered with the new font when I type Enter even
though the new installed font is not displayed in the fonts list! I attached a
screen shot that shows this. But I did not notice this using Configuration C2!
== Til now I did not find out what happened. I tried to replicate this case
but I did not succeed even though I tried on other machines with configuration
C3.

As I was guilty of breaking this: usually I'm working with nonpro versions,
unfortunately I switched to a pro after the final resync because the Linux
nonpro of the milestone (m69) was broken somehow (smoketest failed on all build
bots). So some changes didn't get the additional testing provided by our
debugging abilities in nonpro build s and I didn't catch that error. Sorry for
that. I promise to go the extra mile next time and rather fix the broken nonpro
version than doing without it.

BTW: having code relying on a fixed order of IDs that are given by #define-s
is a contradiction. I know that this stone old code in sfx2 was written that way
to get the best performance (sorted IDs allow for a binary search), but IMHO we
wouldn't lose a lot of performance by using unsorted arrays. At the end we are
talking about integer arrays with a number of IDs between 5 and 20 or so and the
code is not used for performance critical stuff, only for UI interactions that
will work fast enough even without such peephole optimizations.

BTW II: For the same reasons I consider the API of ItemSets with sorted
WhichRanges as broken by design.

Nevertheless thanks for spotting (and fixing) this problem. Until we haven't
fixed the broken APIs, we still must fix problems like this one by changing code
each time when a #define is changed.

Hi,
In Base, I've created a Form with FormattedField fields.
I want to use the value of a field (CAmensuel) to update the value of another
field (CAannuel).
I use the following macro :

Sub MajCAannuel
   dim PysCtrlCAmensuel as object
   dim PysCtrlCAannuel as object

   PysCtrlCAmensuel =
ThisComponent.DrawPage.Forms.getByName(Clients).getByName(fmtCA mensuel)
   PysCtrlCAannuel =
ThisComponent.DrawPage.Forms.getByName(Clients).getByName(fmtCA annuel)

   PysCtrlCAannuel.EffectiveValue = PysCtrlCAannuel.EffectiveValue +
PysCtrlCAmensuel.EffectiveValue
   PysCtrlCAannuel.commit
End Sub

If the result is a number with decimales like 123.45, the macro works well.
If the result is a number like 123.00, then, the field in the Form and the
column in the Table are both reset to zero at the time of the commit.
The reason seems to be the following : the assignment of the result to the
proprety EffectiveValue (variant/double) is converted to an integer
(variant/integer) and places as such in the object.
I've tried to assign the result to a variable defined as double, but the problem
is the same. There is a conversion to variant/integer.

If I use a NumericField instead, the property Value keeps the variant/double
type after the assignment.

If I use a NumericField instead, the property Value keeps the variant/double

Open the Rackam, Macro.Base1.odb file.
Open the Client Form.
On the 1rst record, modify the CAmensuel field with the value 10.00.
Click with the mouse on the Update record button in the scrolling bar. It
doesn't work. The field Caannuel is reset to zero.
Repeat the operation with the value 10.05. It works.

OpenOffice crashes during saves or image manipulation when memory is low.
Sometimes simply right-clicking an object will crash the program. This is as
issue because I often use firefox and openoffice at the same time but OOo
doesn't last long when this is happens!

Current Config: OpenOffice.org 320m11 on Ubuntu Lucid Beta 1
however also noted on stable version of OOo in Ubuntu Karmic

The pdf looks alright, but when printed via poppler all opentype-type1 fonts
are printed with wrong spacing. ttf-fonts aren't affected.
Printing with acrobat-reader and directly from openoffice works.

Confirmed on to different pc and printers -- both with poppler-0.12.4.

Noted the following additional behaviors:

1) It seems that the source of the misplaced tooltips may be that the Titles of

they're not attached to the section title, but to the areas below it.

[framework-issues] [Issue 110129] configmgr no longer uses ini file and backend UNO API

After studying this issue for some time, it looks to me fairly straightforward
to pull an additional configuration layer into the new configmgr. There are a
few related problems I see though: (1) how to notify the configmgr that the data
in an external layer has changed (would the external layer be polled, and if so,
when?); (2) what would the configmgr do when the external layer has changed
(does the entire config data tree need to be rebuilt, or just part of it, or can
the rebuild begin with an intermediary result?); and (3) would property change
notifications be sent to listeners when data changes in an external layer, and
if so, how? My thought is that these issues require some experimentation, and
at this point, early in the v3.3 release cycle, I'm willing to do that, try to
figure out what will work best, and potentially offer some patch sets or further
feedback. I would still like to see the new configmgr have a purely UNO
interface though, so it would be easier to extend.

What is the status of this issue? This means I can't do work in Open Office
unless I resort to drawing in the error bars manually.

In the dutch translation, the message when trying to create a table without a
primary key yields a confusing message. I'm pretty good with databases, but I
can't currently make out what the message tells me exactly, apart from lacking
a primary key. I'm not sure whether the message tells me I need either a unique
index or a primary key, or that those two are the same thing (because of the
quotes around 'unieke index').

Suggested rewording:

---

---

Also consider adding a Help button. For a lay-person, this is exactly the kind
of error message you shouldn't present without at least offering to help them
understand what they're doing.

Using Open Office 3.2.0 (OOO320m12 Build 9483), on Windows XP SP3 on an Acer
Aspire 1640 laptop. In Calc I cannot use the Insert Cells shortcut (Ctrl + +)
to insert a row or column.

These are the steps I take:

i. Select a row or column, by clicking the column letter (A, B, C, etc.) or the
row number (1, 2, 3, etc.).

ii. Use the Insert Cells keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + +, Ctrl Shift =) to insert an
empty row above the one selected or an empty column to the left.

But nothing happens.

If I use the menu (Insert Cells...) instead in step ii it works as it should.

Thanks in advance for fixing this.

Alright. I will give it a try. It's going to take a few days to find the time to
dive into this again.

Any gotchas I should be aware of on this development version?
