However, there are indeed a few issues with the sample spreadsheet. - Validating with Office-O-Tron reveals that the styles.xml contains an error: attribute style:decimal-places=-1, while (latest draft of spec) ODF 1.2 part 1 cd04 says style:decimal-places attribute has the data type nonNegativeInteger - I've noticed that the manifest.xml does not set a mime:media-type (should be image/png) for the Thumbnails/thumbnail.png. This is not an absolute requirement (ODF 1.2 part 3 cd01, 3.8.10 says should), but would be an improvement. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Two ideas on how to implement it: a) as a general-purpose draw:ole-object filter that accepts any file and does not try to produce a preview (with draw:ole-draw-aspect always set to icon instead), so the user can just insert it with Insert / Object / OLE-object / Create from File (new option: Always Icon) b) or completely outside the text document: just store the files inside the ODF package (with no references to these files within the content.xml), and show some sort of panel / sidebar / file navigator... to show the list of attached files to the user (IIRC Adobe Reader has a similar option for PDF). Quite a few presentations and letters have company logos on it, but in that case transparency could indeed be avoided by creating a logo with the desired background color and add that to the presentation / letter template instead of a transparent one... However, avoiding transparency altogether may not always be possible: the particular use case I have in mind are business brochures / reports with Venn- diagrams or other schemas created from within Writer / Draw (although one could export it first to PNG, then add it back to the document, this would be not be accepted by most end-users :-/ ) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So accepting both ./Object 1 and Object 1/ would solve quite a few issues with embedded objects in general. IIRC sp2 for MS-Office 2007 is to be rolled out as an auto-update later this month, so I was hoping that this could make it into 3.1.1 :-) Anyway, really looking forward to 3.2 :-) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This isn't the case for the title (Click yo edit Master title style), and the latter is of course the intended behavior In the attached ODP, these title and subtitle placeholders can be found in the draw:frame with draw:id's id0 and id1 (styles.xml) Apparently, OOo is hardcoded to hide a draw:frame with presentation:class set to title, and/or to show them when the class is subtitle (as can be demonstrated by setting presentation:class to subtitle on the title in id0 and title, this moves the problem) It is unclear what presentation:placeholder does (seems to be ignored / overridden) in this example See also http://plugtest.opendocsociety.org/doku.php? id=scenarios:20090623:presentation-placeholder - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Instead, OLE is displayed. The cause is twofold: A) there is, of course, the difference in the value of the href attribute OOo uses draw:object xlink:href=./Object 1... MSO uses draw:object xlink:href=Object 1/... B) in addition, OpenOffice.org 3.1 seems to expect that the cell range in the chart:plot-area (Object 1/content.xml) is set, otherwise the bars won't show up (see also ODF 1.1 part 10.1) Like this: chart:plot-area table:cell-range-address=Sheet1.B1:Sheet1.B3 ... chart:series chart:values-cell-range-address=Sheet1.B1:Sheet1.B3 MS-Office 2007sp2 doesn't set the table:cell-range... on chart:plot-area. According to the ODF spec, this attribute seems to be optional Note that MS-Office 2007sp2 and OOo use a slightly different notation for specifying ranges as well (with or without $), but that doesn't matter in this example. (Of course, OOo will only show the first bar since B2 and B3 contain formulas from the msoxl: namespace and they are currently not supported in OOo) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Without having lengthy discussions on who's right and who's wrong, honouring Postel's Law on both sides could solve this interop issue, which is a real issue for end users. So the proposal is to add support for *loading* the MSO2007sp2-style ODF spreadsheet formulas (and I'll ask MS to do the same for OOo-style formulas) (Perhaps the ODF-OOXML converter could shed some light on how to convert OOo/MSO formulas) http://odf-converter.sourceforge.net/newblog/index.php?2009/03/13/28-how-the- openxml-odf-translator-deals-with-formulas - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
