An unlimited number of styles would be great, but as a quick fix, doubling the
number of rules (3 - 6) would certainly help.

An example of a spreadsheet needing more than 3 rules / cell is a project
report
(risk analysis from 0 - n/a to 5 - very high), or a report of issues from
this bug tracking tool (priority P1 to P5, with different colors for each
priority)

[sc-issues] [Issue 110634] OOo create invalid ODS fi les

Note that OOo 3.2 generates ODF 1.2 draft, not sure if the
opendocumentfellowship validator already handles that version.

However, there are indeed a few issues with the sample spreadsheet.

- Validating with Office-O-Tron reveals that the styles.xml contains an error:
attribute style:decimal-places=-1, while (latest draft of spec) ODF 1.2 part
1
cd04 says style:decimal-places attribute has the data type nonNegativeInteger

- I've noticed that the manifest.xml does not set a mime:media-type (should be
image/png) for the Thumbnails/thumbnail.png. This is not an absolute
requirement
(ODF 1.2 part 3 cd01, 3.8.10 says should), but would be an improvement.

The manifest.xml has an manifest:file-entry for a (non-existent) Pictures/

Removing that entry and re-zipping it seems to help (no error upon opening the
spreadsheet in OOo 3.2)

Well, although the http://opendocumentfellowship.com/validator isn't supporting
1.2, the issue is not invalid (check my remarks),

Office-O-tron does use the 1.2 draft schema's, and reports an error...

Would indeed be a nice feature.

Two ideas on how to implement it:

a) as a general-purpose draw:ole-object filter that accepts any file and does
not try to produce a preview (with draw:ole-draw-aspect always set to icon
instead), so the user can just insert it with Insert / Object / OLE-object /
Create from File (new option: Always Icon)

b) or completely outside the text document: just store the files inside the ODF
package (with no references to these files within the content.xml), and show
some sort of panel / sidebar / file navigator... to show the list of attached
files to the user (IIRC Adobe Reader has a similar option for PDF). Users
should
then be able to use drag'n'drop to copy the attached file to their
Windows/Gnome
Desktop

If a page has multiple footnotes, and one wants to copy these footnotes (say,
to
a plain text editor), one has to select the footnotes one by one and copy them
separately: using the mouse or arrow keys, it seems to be impossible to select
multiple footnotes at once.

OOo should give the user a message when he/she clicks on a note and selects
delete all notes / all notes of this user from the popup menu
(and when using Ctrl-N-D instead of Ctrl-N-N, because one didn't remember the
shortcut correctly)

If you're editing a large document with lots of notes attached to it, it's easy
to accidentally select delete all when you just want to delete 1 specific
note, and save the notes-less document without realizing it.

Of course, it would be even nicer if this behavior of displaying a warning
message can be turned on/off by toggling a new option in Tools Options

So what about having it as a option in Tools Options (warn before delete all
notes), that defaults to no.

When the user would change it to yes:
- in case of delete all, one would only see the message box once.
- in case of delete all notes for this user, one would only see the message
box once per user who has added notes

- in case delete (only) this note, I agree you shouldn't nag the user with a
message box, even when the warn before delete all notes option would be yes

Probably all, but I've only tested the OOo RC on Win7 running in a virtualbox.

OOo 3.1 on 64-bit Ubuntu Linux ignores the signature as well, by the way, but
there are a few subtle changes in signatures between 3.1 and 3.2 (like #100276)

For the record, the documentsignatures.xml was created using a groovy script
(not OOo), which can be found here

control/browse/wsvn/oic/TestSuite/branches/barth/odf12/misc/odfsign.groovy

OOo seems to have a problem with parsing documentsignatures.xml when the
XML-DSIG
elements have a namespace prefix.

OOo 3.2rc1 opens the signed document just fine, but does not say anything about
the validity (or invalidity) of the signature, and the certificate isn't show
in
File/Digital Signatures box (OOo seems to ignore the signature file altogether,
with no warning message whatsoever)

Apparently OOo 3.1.1 doesn't support urn:-style attribute values (ODF 1.2 part
III cd1) for manifest:checksum-type / manifest:algorithm-name / manifest:key-
derivation-name just yet.

I've created an encrypted ODT with values SHA1/1K / Blowfish CFB / PBKDF2 and
it
opens just fine in OOo, but replacing the attribute values with urn:oasis...
seems to fail (OOo opens with a warning that styles.xml contains a Format Error
at 1,1)

Whow, fixed already, I'm Impressed ;-) Great job for getting the fix
implemented
so soon !

Quite a few presentations and letters have company logos on it, but in that
case
transparency could indeed be avoided by creating a logo with the desired
background color and add that to the presentation / letter template instead of
a
transparent one...

However, avoiding transparency altogether may not always be possible: the
particular use case I have in mind are business brochures / reports with Venn-
diagrams or other schemas created from within Writer / Draw
(although one could export it first to PNG, then add it back to the document,
this would be not be accepted by most end-users :-/ )

Menu Insert Hyperlink

Apparently the UI only has a text field for entering a value for the office:name
attribute, but not for office:title attribute (the office:title is useful for
accessibility purposes), so it would be nice if an extra field could be added.

This is not to be confused with the current text field, that allows one to
edit the content of the text:a element, but does not set the office:title
attribute

It seems that the same problem also exists when using Openoffice 3.2beta under
Windows 7 + the Belgian eID (using a O2Micro CCID reader) + eID middleware.

After creating a new hello world document and saving it as ODF 1.2, one
cannot
sign the document: the signing certificate is listed, but clicking Add button
does not work.

It does work, however, in OOo 2.4.3 (installed on the same system), where the
middleware does ask for a PIN code when signing the document and a digital
signature is added.

Is this still scheduled for 3.2 ? This would be a great enhancement for, say,
public or business archives (running OOo as document converter and/or integrate
it in DMS/RMS) that have to deal with documents containing (semi-)transparent
logo's, diagrams/drawings etc

When saving for instance a chart in a spreadsheet, the draw:image preview
points
to ObjectReplacements/Object1, which is a GDIMetafile (VCLMTF)

It would be nice if this preview/obj.replacement is stored using an open format
like PNG or SVG, as recommended by ODF 1.1 spec (9.3.2).

Of course, the same xlink:href issues goes for other embedded objects as well
(I
just encountered a similar issue with a MathML equation), it is not limited to
charts only. So accepting both ./Object 1 and Object 1/ would solve quite a
few issues with embedded objects in general.

IIRC sp2 for MS-Office 2007 is to be rolled out as an auto-update later this
month, so I was hoping that this could make it into 3.1.1 :-)
Anyway, really looking forward to 3.2 :-)

Actually, OOo 3.1 _is_ capable of displaying the SVG preview (or PNG, for that
matter), although it's tricky/buggy since it depends on the presence of the svg
height/width of the _embedded chart_ (instead of the parent draw:frame)

In Graph1/content.xml of the Gnumeric file, change

chart:chart chart:class=chart:bar

into

chart:chart svg:width=8cm svg:height=7cm chart:class=chart:bar

and OOo 3.1 (windows) will be able to render it.

One can enter the value for a svg:title on, say, an image in a text document by
right-clicking on it and go to Picture/Options/Alternate text.

Apparently, the UI doesn't provide a field for adding a longer description
(svg:desc). This would be very helpful for improving accessibility.

When opening a ODP presentation created by MS-Office 2007sp2, the placeholder
Click to edit Master subtitle style is shown.
This isn't the case for the title (Click yo edit Master title style), and the
latter is of course the intended behavior

In the attached ODP, these title and subtitle placeholders can be found in the
draw:frame with draw:id's id0 and id1 (styles.xml)
Apparently, OOo is hardcoded to hide a draw:frame with presentation:class set
to
title, and/or to show them when the class is subtitle (as can be
demonstrated by setting presentation:class to subtitle on the title in id0
and
title, this moves the problem)

It is unclear what presentation:placeholder does (seems to be ignored /
overridden) in this example

When loading an ODS with a chart created in MS-Office 2007sp2, the chart isn't
visible. Instead, OLE is displayed.

The cause is twofold:

A) there is, of course, the difference in the value of the href attribute

OOo uses draw:object xlink:href=./Object 1...
MSO uses draw:object xlink:href=Object 1/...

B) in addition, OpenOffice.org 3.1 seems to expect that the cell range in the
chart:plot-area (Object 1/content.xml) is set, otherwise the bars won't show up
(see also ODF 1.1 part 10.1)

Like this:

chart:plot-area table:cell-range-address=Sheet1.B1:Sheet1.B3
...
chart:series chart:values-cell-range-address=Sheet1.B1:Sheet1.B3

MS-Office 2007sp2 doesn't set the table:cell-range... on chart:plot-area.
According to the ODF spec, this attribute seems to be optional

Note that MS-Office 2007sp2 and OOo use a slightly different notation for
specifying ranges as well (with or without $), but that doesn't matter in this
example.

(Of course, OOo will only show the first bar since B2 and B3 contain formulas
from the msoxl: namespace and they are currently not supported in OOo)

It's all over the web by now on how MS-Office 2007sp2 and OOo use different
approaches/namespaces for storing ODF1.1 spreadsheet formulas.
Without having lengthy discussions on who's right and who's wrong,
honouring
Postel's Law on both sides could solve this interop issue, which is a real
issue
for end users.

So the proposal is to add support for *loading* the MSO2007sp2-style ODF
spreadsheet formulas (and I'll ask MS to do the same for OOo-style formulas)

(Perhaps the ODF-OOXML converter could shed some light on how to convert
OOo/MSO
formulas)

According to the ODF 1.2cd01, 2.17, a document signature must be applied to all
files in the ODF package.

OOo 3.1m5 doesn't store the signature for the manifest.xml or mimetype in
documentsignatures.xml, so they can be changed without OOo noticing it.

According to the ODF 1.1 spec, the attribute form:control-implementation is
optional.

However, if you use a library to create an .odt with a simple form:form
containing a simple form:textarea, you have to explicitly set the
form:control-implementation attribute on both elements to the exact ooo
component names, otherwise the control won't be visible in 00o 3.1m2
(it even crashes OOo 3.0 if automatic-styles is present in the context.xml as
well)

Expected behavior is to at least render some plain, simple text area control
with a solid black border.

OOo doesn't seem to handle durations with year indicator

For instance, in meta.xml, if meta:editing-duration is set to P0Y0M0DT1H15M3S,
File Properties will show 00:00:00

If in content.xml a text:date field is set with a text:date-adjust of P1Y0M60D,
the date isn't adjusted (something like PT...H does work)

OOo3 has an option to save to ODF 1.1 (menu Tools/Options/Load-Save/General/ODF
format version) instead of saving to ODF 1.2.

Some 1.2-only elements do get inserted into ODF 1.1 files, for instance,
table:table.

Steps to reproduce:
- open OOo 3 and make sure ODF 1.1 is selected
- create a new, empty presentation using the wizard (just click next)
- when the new presentation opens, click on the Table Design task in the right
pane
- select the first table style and create a table with default settings
- save this presentation to .odp
- the content.xml contains table:table, which isn't allowed in ODF 1.1

You can also verify this by uploading the file to
http://tools.odftoolkit.org/odfvalidator (settings autodetect, conformance
testing, errors only)
