If in an extension there is a long license text, than this extension is
uninstallable because the user cannot accept this license: the text is not show
and user cannot go to the license end to accept it.

Please close this wrong bug report.

I have made a mistake.
There can be multiple dictionaries for the same locale.

I have made a mistake in the dictionary.xcu
I have write:
valueit_IT/value
instead of:
valueit-IT/value
for the tag prop oor:name=Locales oor:type=oor:string-list
and the results is that the surname dictionary was not loaded.

I'm try to create an extension for a secondary dictionary, but I found that is
impossible in OOo 3.0

I have write the extension for the Italian dictionaries, in witch there is the
primary orthographic dictionary for Italian language (it_IT.dic it_IT.aff).
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/Dict_it_IT

I have also a secondary dictionary (the Italian surname dictionary:
it_IT_cognome.dic it_IT_cognome.aff) and in OOo 2.x and 1.x you can define and
use a secondary dictionary in dictionary.lst file:

DICT it IT it_IT
DICT it IT it_IT_cognome

And all work correctly.

You can find the MySpell/HunSpell surname dictionary here:
http://linguistico.sf.net/wiki/doku.php?id=dizionario_cognomi_italiani

Now this feature is missing in OOo 3.0 and so all Italian users of the surname
dictionary cannot use it anymore :-(
I think this is a defect because this is a featured that have been take away
from OOo 3.0.

I'm also creating others secondary dictionaries (medical, astronomical, ...) and
all they will be unusable with OOo 3.0. I think that also others people have
created secondary dictionaries ... all useless now :.(

I have read this
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Extension_Dictionaries):
88888888888
You must have at most one dictionary of any type for each language in your
extension!
That is only one for each format DICT_SPELL, DICT_HYPH, DICT_THES per locale.
Otherwise, if for example you have two different spelling dictionaries with
different content, they will all be used at the same time(!), which is most
likely not want you want. And thus you have taken away the choice for the user.
88888888888

but I cannot use only the surname dictionary (it_IT_cognome) ... it complete the
it_IT dictionary, and so I must install and use all two together.

Please add again the possibility to use secondary dictionary in OOo 3.0.
Secondary dictionaries are a very valuable OOo features; if you take away they
you make unhappy users.

Ciao

To reproduce the bug:

0) Open OOoCalc

1) write in A1 cell the following:
house inv.

2) Tools - Spellcheck ...
This open the spell checker window
The word inv. must be viewed as wrong by spell checker

3) select on A1 Cell (not the spell checker window) the string inv. (do not
close the spell checker window)

4) press Del button (the button used to cancel the selected text)
   Del button is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delete_key
Someone tell me that he have the crash with the backspace button and not
   with the Del one

5) OOo crash

I have asked some people to check if they can reproduce this bug and:
* a lot of people with GNU/Linux and Windows can reproduce this bugs
* some people with GNU/Linux and Windows cannot reproduce this bug

More than ten people can reproduce the bug and less then five people cannot.

I have noted that if a person can reproduce the bug, then he can reproduce it on
each computer he have. But if a person cannot reproduce the bug, then he cannot
reproduce it on each computer he own.

Probably the bug depends on some options.

I have try to start OOo with a new user (default option), selecting or
deselecting options, using only English dictionary (normally I have also Italian
dictionary and Italian surname dictionary), etc ... but I have had always a
crash

In Italian localization there are some wrongs abbreviations in the Extended
Tips.

To see it (I show first the Italian menu names):

1) activate Extended Tips
Strumenti - Opzioni - OpenOffice.org - Generale - Guida attiva
Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - General - Extended Tips

2) open a new OOoWriter document

3) move the mouse cursor over the 'STD' write (it is at the bottom of the
OOoWriter windows)

You can see this text:
Mostra le modalità di selezione corrente. Potete scegliere traSTD = Standard,
EXT = Estesa, ADD = Aggiungi, BLK = Blocco

If you clink on that text you change it in:
STD - EST - AGG - BLK - STD - ...

There are the followings errors:
- traSTD must be tra: STD
- EXT must be EST
- ADD must be AGG

The text must be:
Mostra le modalità di selezione corrente. Potete scegliere tra: STD = Standard,
EST = Estesa, AGG = Aggiungi e BLK = Blocco

4) move the cursor over the 'INS' write

You can see this text:
Mostra la modalità di inserimento corrente. Potete passare da INSRT = Inserisci
e OVER = Sovrascrivi

If you clink on that text you change it in:
INS - SSC - INS - ...

There are the followings errors:
- INSRT must be INS
- e OVER must be a SSC

The text must be:
Mostra la modalità di inserimento corrente. Potete passare da INS = Inserisci a
SSC = Sovrascrivi

Note: I'm using OOo 2.4 distribuited by Debian Lenny GNU/Linux

Hey ... Italian is a wonderful language! :-)

You can find link here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#Italian_.28Italy.29

You need these two lines:
* Italian dictionary (dizionario italiano)
* Thesaurus OOo 2.x

Note that the Italian thesaurus and the dictionary can have several issues each
year.

I have tested it with hunspell 1.1.6 and OOo 2.0.4 on GNU/Linux.

Here is a simple example (not realistic):

---8--FILE a.aff-8-
SET ISO8859-15
TRY aioertnsclmdpgubzfvhàq'ACMSkBGPLxEyRTVòIODNwFéùèìjUZKHWJYQX

SFX B Y 1
SFX B ere ono ere
---8-8-

---8--FILE a.dic-8-
2
decidere/B
ere/B
---8-8-

$ unmunch a.dic a.aff 2 /dev/null
decidere
decidono
ere

and as you can see the string ono is not generated.

I think that a lot of people (or better all?) who create a new rule for a
dictionary think that this is a malfunction, or better they can not notice that
all word/rule aren't fully expanded.

A more realistic example:
---8--FILE a.aff-8-
SET ISO8859-15
TRY aioertnsclmdpgubzfvhàq'ACMSkBGPLxEyRTVòIODNwFéùèìjUZKHWJYQX

SFX A Y 3 # verbo andare (verb to go)
SFX A andare vado andare # io vado (I go)
SFX A andare va andare # tu vai (you go)
SFX A are iamo andare # noi andiamo (we go)

---8-8-

---8--FILE a.dic-8-
2
andare/A
riandare/A
---8-8-

$ unmunch a.dic a.aff 2 /dev/null
andare
andiamo
riandare
rivado
riva
riandiamo

So riandare (to go again) have all verb conjugations expanded correctly, but
not andare (to go).

In language where apostrophes are use as elision can be a very useful feature to
let suggestion spaces where apostrophes are.

En example: in Italian language the word un'alunno is wrong, the corrected one
is un alunno (a male pupil); but if see suggestion I get only un'alunna (a
female pupil).

I think that this can be a very high enhancement for Italian language and also
others.

a workaround can be this:

1) create a macro (a personal macro) with the following code:

REM * BASIC *

sub MergeAllCells
rem --
rem define variables
dim document as object
dim dispatcher as object
rem --
rem get access to the document
document   = ThisComponent.CurrentController.Frame
dispatcher = createUnoService(com.sun.star.frame.DispatchHelper)

rem --
dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, .uno:SplitCell, , 0, Array())
dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, .uno:MergeCells, , 0, Array())

end sub

2) Tools - Personalization - Symbol toolbars
Note: Sorry ... I have Italian OOo so I don't know if all the English names are
correts

3) select Formatting from combo box Toolbars

4) press Import button

5) select OpenOffice.org macro - MergeAllCells

6) press Add button

You can now add an icon for it and adjust its position and also can delete the
join cells button

I think that the same warkaround can be implemented very easy into the code and
probably it need only few minuts (to search the code)

you can use, for example, xpdf or pdttohtml.
Here you can find some interesting link for programs that manage .PDF files
(sorry, comments are Italian language only):

http://linguistico.sf.net/wiki/doku.php?id=software_libero:documenti_formati#visualizzatori_convertitori_documenti_pdf

Else you can use Abiword or Kword (I don't remember who) that can convert a .PDF
and let you modify it.

I have see that the OOo site:
http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/download_dictionary.html
have very old dictionaries and is very hard to have here new versions.
I have also see that, avaiable OOo dictionaries, are missing in that list for
some languages.

I understand that some dictionaries are not included into OOo build for the
licenses that they use; but I think that the OOo site must have the last
available or/and better have also a link to the official site of each resources.
It is better to have a wiki page where all people can add link to official
sites.
In official sites you can found latest versions, additional dictionaries and
features (these can be very useful for people in OOo usage), localized help and
lot more ...

I make an examples on Italian dictionaries (they are issue with GPL license).

1) in http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/spell_dic.html there is a very old
dictionary and the last one can be found here:
http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=dizionario_italiano

2) for Italian user there is also an addictional dictionary with Italian surname
that can be found here:
http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=dizionario_cognomi_italiani

probably next time we will add also some specialistic dictionaries

3) in http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/thes_dic.html there is a very old and
incomplete thesaurus (probably working only with OOo 1.1.x) . Latest version can
be found here:
http://linguistico.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=thesaurus_italiano

Note that all italian project are very active so new version are generated more
time during one year.

As I have write it is better to have a wiki page
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page) so link can be updated from
users.
Give better dictionaries to users can be a very good OOo improvment.

The problem will be solved by a recursive lowering algorithm.

I think it is better to have an uppercase algorithm :-)

These problems exists only for title or other part where all letter are write
with uppercase letters.

The spell checker work like this:
1) if a word is all lowercase, than it is correct to have only the first or all
letters in uppercase characters
2) if a word have at least one uppercase letter than that word must be write
exactly as you have found it in the dictionary (if it is uppercase only the
first, than all can be uppercase)

rule 2 must be changed to: than word must be exactly as you have found it in the
dictionary or it is all uppercase (always).
This will solve these problems and I do not think he can create new one.

You need a breakiterator patch for Italian language

I'm not sure of that ... tell me if I'm wrong or I'm right ...

If the apostrophe is the Italian breakiterator so if I write:

1) un'alunna (schoolgirl in English) it is been checked the two strings un
and alunna and all is not signed as wrong. This is ok

2) un'alunno (schoolboy in English) it is been checked the two strings un
and alunno and all is not signed as wrong. This is not ok becouse un'alunno
is a wrong combination it must be un alunno without the apostrophe ... but it
is a grammar checking error, so spell checker can not see it

3) all'alunno it is been checked the two strings all and alunno, but all
is not a corrected Italian word so all'alunno is marked as wrong (all'alunno
is allo alunno)

I know at least one Italian word that start with the apostrophe: 'ndrangheta
(note that ndrangheta is wrong)

If I insert this word into the dictionary, than 'ndrangheta e ndrangheta are
marked as wrong words.

If I insert the word ndrangheta in the dictionary, than 'ndrangheta e ndrangheta
are marked as correct words (this is the solution for the actual Italian
dictionary).

For sure in ancient Italian languages there are a lot of these words

In Italian language there are some words that end with the apostrophe and these
words without the apostrophe are wrong.

As an example the word po' is correct, but the words po and pò are wrong (it is
correct the word Po: the name of the major Italian river; but it start with the
uppercase 'P').

There are languages, as Italian, that use the apostrophe as an elision: sometime
when one word ending with a vocal is befoure one that start with a vocal we can
have that the first word lose its last caracter and an apostrophe join the two
words.

For example:
una alunna - become - un'alunna (schoolgirl in English)

There is a case where not all work correctly: when a word starting in uppercase;
as an example the word Elia (Elias o Elijah in English)

The followings are reported as corrected
* sant'Elia
* Sant'Elia

The following is reported as wrong, but it is corrected also
* SANT'ELIA

If you look the suggestion you have as suggestion the word SANT'ELIA ... the
same word marked as wrong!

You have to set on the check for uppercase words in Tools-Options-Linguistic
to see it.

There are a lot of words that have that problem and disabling the uppercase
check is not the solution: you cannot see real errors in uppercase words if you
do that!

For test this you can build an Italian dictionary as show below:

1) the it_IT.aff
---8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8--
SET ISO8859-15
TRY aioertnsclmdpgubzfvhàq'ACMSkBGPLxEyRTVòIODNwFéùèìjUZKHWJYQX

PFX T 0 Sant' [AEIOUH]
PFX T 0 SANT' [AEIOUH][QWERTYUIOPLKJHGFDSAZXCVBNM]

2) the it_IT.dic

soprattutto is a very high used Italian word (google report 9.190.000 pages)
sopratutto is corret but less used (google report 1.890.000 pages)

Actually I don't have the last version of the autocorrect file so I don't know
what exactly is wrong and what is right, but probably there are other problems
...
in my actual version of this file I can see for example:
* renumerare is corrected as remunerare
but renumerare can be also corrected as rinumerare or enumerare
so I think it is better to remove this entry
* efficacie is corrected as efficace
but efficacie is also correct as plural of efficacia
so this entry *must* be removed
* é is corrected as è
it is correct only è, but é is a letter of the Italian alphabet so I can
write something like this Le lettere accentate italiane sono: à, è, é, ì, ù
(The Italian accented letters are: à, è, é, ì, ù) and this is a correct phrase
so I think it is better to remove this entry

Please, can I know who manage the Italian autocorrect file?
I can talk to that person?
Can I know all modification that will be added to this file?

If the person who manage the Italian autocorrect file make some modification to
it can he contact me or send an e-mail to the utenti(@)it(.)openoffice(.)org to
know if all is correct?

How long to add a patch?

I have give you the correct file and you must only copy it in the right place!

I remember you that the word pressapoco is a high usage word and it is more
correct and more used than pressappoco, so changing all the pressapoco in
pressappoco can be an error for a professional writer.

Can I know who manage Italian autocorrect file?

I'm the mainteiner of the Italian dictionary and I can also manage this file ...
if you want
