@laurentgodard:

Are you going to maintain the 2.4.x fork of FontOOo until it is no longer
needed?

That is the version I reported the problem with.

Thank you. (Merci)

[www-issues] [Issue 74683] Make submission of issues for new users easier

@es:
Let's see, you started with OpenOffice in 1997 (my math is that good), I started
with StarOffice for OS/2 in 1992, so that makes me a little older than you.
Also, OpenOffice is not the only FOSS project that I work with and they all
suffer from the same problem, Issuzilla is very hard for the new user to
understand, but is GREAT for the developers who have to work off bug reports.
Adding a front end so that a user can select from a series of problems is not
undoable and may actually result in better reporting (BTW, I work for a large
corporate organization that is going down that path because of the possibility
of over 100,000 very inexperienced users having access to their bug tracking
system.)
The problem as I see it, is inertia. You have to be willing to accept that
things will change and that Issuezilla has been the topic of some very
interesting discussions on the User forum/mailing list. Also, how much real
work would it take to resolve this issue? You could ask questions like: Did
you search for issues like yours? Does this issue stop your organization from
completing daily work? Several others like this could actually make submission,
triage and problem resolution easier, not harder and also encourage users to
submit issues rather than shy away.
I would consider re-opening this issue and examining it very closely from the
user/customer point of view with a developer scope. This enhancement request
might just make your job of QA/development easier and bug triaging a quick and
painless process.

FontOOO needs to be updated. This should happen automatically the first time
the wizard is run. This may not be happening if the system is not connected to
the Internet when OpenOffice.org is run. 2.4.1 does not have this problem. See
original issue.

With the Mac X11 version, events appear on Open Document and Close Document.
The Open Document event was to open a dialog box with a message and the "OK"
button.
Closing the document resulted in another dialog box with message and the "OK"
button. Clicking on the button allowed the document to close. Remember, with
default macro security of high, all macros are automatically disabled except
from a trusted source. Could not duplicate reported problem.

Tried to reproduce what I 'think' the problem is. However, I only see one
document in the left pane on 2.4 and 2.3.1, but the name does change.

So what I really need here is the following:
What EXACTLY did you do to create the problem. One document should NEVER be a
problem. What EXACTLY is the problem? When you go to record a macro you cannot
save it, or does it get saved to the 'wrong' document? Or do you want
consistency across versions? At the present time, I cannot confirm this problem
as being an actual problem we need to spend resources fixing that need to be
dedicated to the 3.0 release. Downgrading priority and setting fix version to
OOoLater, for now.

Confirmed that this can be duplicated on the Mac X11 version of 2.4. This is
not a showstopper but should be fixed for 2.4.1 and 3.0 as this is definitely a
regression from 2.3.1 actions. Saving an .xls to .ods and opening the .ods file
did not show a need for saving on a new file. However, saving a modified .ods
file as .xls and then opening the .xls file did.

summary:

In the Calc program, if you format a cell as percent and then double-click on
the cell the input function is changed to accept raw number input. This is then
translated into a percent value by multiplying by 100. This is confusing to
users and is not the same as other spreadsheet products. This should function
the same as a single-click and accept input as a pre-computed percentage.
This is technically not a bug as the cell type is functioning as designed, but
the design is incorrect for expected functioning by new users.

FontOOO for 2.4 is still version 1.7. When it attempts to update the update
portion fails to connect to the Internet. This does not occur with 2.3.1 Final
(which I had not updated.)
This needs to be fixed before release of 2.4 as FontOOO will not self-update and
some of the fonts are needed to display.

Closing issue.

This is how the percentage data type functions in Calc and how it functions in
Excel (a Microsoft (TM) product.)

This is 'as designed' functionality.

If you click into the cell you are entering a percent value.
If you DOUBLE CLICK you are entering a 'raw number', that is 12.85 which when
converted to percentage is 1285%.

I will confirm this is how 2.3 and 2.3.1 function as well.

Cannot confirm in X11 release version, as this works the American English.
What I did:
1. Created a NEW spreadsheet document.
2. Clicked on and dragged the TAB with sheet #1 to the end. It ended up between
sheet 2 and 3 (this maybe my mistake).
3. Clicked on and dragged the TAB with sheet #3 to the beginning. It ended up
being the first sheet.

Sheets were numbered 3, 2, 1.

Some users would like copy/paste from Calc of the entire contents of a cell to
produce a newline and others would like the newline to be suppressed. I would
like to advance that this should be user selectable. The first is like the
action taken by Microsoft Office 2000/2003 and is expected by users moving from
that product. This should appear on the Writer tab of the Options screen.

Running the AQUA testtool with the topten test generates an error when the Macro
Security check is conducted.
A manual check of the program reveals that this function does not appear to be
implemented with the Aqua build.
attached are two screen shots that show the error and the screen where the error
occurs. This error is masked in the X11 testtool and refers to another issue.

@smsm1: No, the Aqua version was installed as OpenOffice.org 2.3. The
directory being called by testtool from the non-admin user was
/Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.2.app/Contents/MacOS. This directory changed to
/Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.2.app/Contents/MacOS/program. I did not change
this setting.

When running testtool and running OpenOffice 2.2.1 tests, the Aqua version was
selected instead. This may be due to the Aqua version appearing as 2.2.1 or
even 2.2 instead of 2.3. However, a look at the info.plist shows that the
program is identifying itself as OpenOffice.org 2.3.0. However, the
bundleSignature appears to be OOo2 and I think the Aqua version should be
different. The version for 2.2.1 appears to be OpenOffice.org 2.2 and the
CFBundleSignature is OOo2. This may be confusing testtool when it goes to look
for the program and is picking the Aqua version vice the X11 2.2.1 version. Any
ideas on how to further troubleshoot and isolate this problem would be
appreciated as this breaks automated testing on my system.

This issue was marked as a duplicate of a NL issue that appears, on first read,
to have nothing to do with the translation of information in the Tango icon set
so that other languages can incorporate them into their builds. At the present
time this icon set is only available in en_US. Requesting that this issue be
reopened so that translation efforts can be tracked.

Removed Aqua keyword. This is the same for the X11 version. Help for Mac OS X
needs to have the keys updated. However, for standard X11 and for Aqua, the
Command key does not function properly. Downgrading priority as this does not
functionally affect the usage of OpenOffice.org and has been brought up in the
past. It will take a great deal of effort to create and use special help pages
for the Mac versions.

[installation-issues] [Issue 11409] Use OS X Installer for X11 builds

I read over the comments on issue 63630 and agree that using an installer is not
exactly the best method for a simple program, but there are things that we do
with OpenOffice.org that may be easier with a packager. However, drag and drop
is a much easier method to for the Mac and is very easy to implement and
maintain.

+1 for the drag-n-drop method.

As with GlowingApple: Line numbering appears on each page in groups of five.
Each new chapter starts counting over again except 12 and 13 (XII and XIII).
This appears to work with the Mac OS X 2.2 release version.
What is needed for this issue is the Operating System used and the version of
OpenOffice.org the problem appears in. Othewise, this issue will be closed in
two weeks as worksforme.

If you select a cell in Calc, it is not marked with a border around the cell.
The Row and Column ARE marked with a color change in the column/row header.

To duplicate, open a Calc document and click in a cell. The cell is not marked
but the row/column header will change to the highlighted color.

There are two different versions of OpenOffice.org 2.2 for the Mac, one for the
Power PC and one for the Intel. Yes, I have had problems cutting from web pages
and then pasting into a Writer document. My 'trick' is to open TextEdit and
then paste in a blank document. I then select all of the text and copy it into
the Writer document. This does not work for tabled data, however. I can copy
from Firefox directly into Writer, sometimes. And this is on an Intel based
Mac. I have not tried this, yet on my PowerBook.

Confirming. This has been reported on the Mac OS X mailing list. It appears
that JDBC connections to either a local or remote database do not work for 2.2.0
for MySQL. This is also broken for JDBC built specifically for Mac OS X.
