 Hi All,
Just updated keps for noaa weather satellites from Celestrak and find the the

How can I delete the unwanted birds.

Using GNU grep 2.5.4 on Linux:

  grep -F -f wanted.sat -A 2 weather.txt use_this.tle

The file 'wanted.sat' is a simple text file with a list of desired
satellites, one per line. Example (using amateur satellites):

8-8--
OSCAR 7
EYESAT-1
JAS-2
PCSAT
HAMSAT
8-8--

Grep picks any satellites that matches your listed names, and outputs
the name and the two-line data immediately following. It adds a
separator line between each, but I've never had a problem. AAMOF (and
correct me if I'm wrong) but the TLE format is specifically supposed to
ignore additional lines that don't conform to the TLE format.

Not running Linux? Start today! ;-)

Or, look for 'grep' for Windows here:

Hi John, G7HIA

when you are in simulation mode,
over the clock (on the right of Orbitron page) you have AUTO-FWD,
if you clik on this , it changes in AUTO-BCK (the simulation go back in the
past),
if you click again, it changes in AUTO-OFF and the simulation stops.

  Hi Orbitron users.
I find the simulation feature is very useful but I can't find out how to
pause it.
Does anyone have the required key strokes, or is that feature not included in
the software.

  Thanks

2010-02-06 Thread Bob Christy
The 'Toolbox' Icon that can be found on Orbitron's Main tab, leads to
a further set of tabs. One of them is called Miscellaneous.

The bottom right hand panel of the Miscellaneous tab allows you to set
the directory that will be used for element sets. If you also tick the
box marked Personal TLE directory, it will automatically store
Spacetrack, Celestrak, element sets there too rather than under the
Orbitron directory in Windows/Program Files.

The directory you choose can be anywhere you choose such as under My
Documents or the equivalent in later Windows versions.

I've never had a problem with Orbitron.
It just works!
Just did an update from Celestrack although it's not the service I normally use.
I recommend that you register with Space-Track and set up a favourites list of
just the satellites that you're
interested in.

2010-02-05 Thread Mike Miller
Hi Jerry,

I don't think Vista likes things written to
ProgramFiles/Orbitron/TLE. There is a section in the Orbitron
help about setting directory paths that might apply.

I'm no Window expert, I just switched to XP, so I'm a few years
behind the curve.

[amsat-bb] Re: Orbitron help

2010-02-05 Thread Sam KC2LRC
This problem, in my experience, was caused by Vista's User Account Control
not allowing Orbitron to write any new data to the hard drive. There are two
ways to solve this:

1. Run Orbitron as Administrator (right click on the icon - Run as
Administrator)

2. Disable User Account Control. This can be done by going to the Control
Panel, then User Accounts, and somewhere in there (I do not remember exactly
since all my boxes run Windows 7 now) there is a checkbox that will allow
you to turn UAC off. Reboot the computer after disabling UAC for the changes
to take effect.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps that's why I've never had the problem. With only one user, I don't need
