2011-10-22 Thread Stefan Wagener
Sorry to disappoint you.

At this point AMSAT-DL has not been able to secure any funding to
secure a launch (not even from their own government) and the rant
against cubesats at the UK colloquium by has only hurt them even more.

Unless this community learns to work together and sees the benefits in
all satellite programs and supports each other, we are only hurting
ourselves. Why is so difficult to understand?

Indeed, P3-E is not a dream but a reality and AMSAT-DL need the support of

There will only a P3-E, if we all really want it..

problem is you are dreaming of reliving a time in history when we were
fortunate to have launches that were reasonably priced. today, we take what
is free and if that means proliferation of cubesats and nonosats so be it.

if you are willing to pay for a heo launch, let your favorite amsat know and
they will construct a heo for you to launch.

otherwise you should stop hampering the dreams and aspirations of those
building launchable satellites today. history might repeat itself but not
 without a lot of money.

I am glad you favour HEOs. Good for you. At least the cubesat
community does not bash and discriminate against your favourite
satellite system. Any university and organization that puts up a
cubesat is a winner for me. They are fun, challenging and use the

SatPC32 version 12.8b is available for download at
http://www.dk1tb.de/downloadeng.htm

The main SatPC32 program window now displays more information such as the
date of the Keplerian elements file in use.

Before upgrading your SatPC32 installation, be sure to use the new program
(in the ZIP file) to backup your user configuration. The upgrade erases all
previous user configurations, but the new program will restore your
configurations after upgrading.

The download is a demo version that requires users to enter their lat/lon
each time the program is started. To make the program fully functional,
enter your existing registration code or purchase a registration code from
the AMSAT web site:
http://www.amsat-na.com/store/category.php?c=Software

DK1TB, the author of SatPC32 has donated the software to AMSAT. All sales
of SatPC32 are used to support AMSAT.

Here are the changes described in the What's New file:

1. SatPC32, SatPC32ISS, Wisat32 and SuM now support rotor control of the
M2 RC-2800 rotor system.

2. The CAT control functions of SatPC32, SatPC32ISS and Wisat32 have been
expanded. The programs now provide CAT control of the new Icom transceiver
IC-9100.

3. The main windows of SatPC32 and SatPC32ISS have been slightly changed to
make them clearer. With window size W3 the world map can be stretched (only
SatPC32).

4. The accuracy of the rotor positions can now be adjusted for the
particular rotor controller. SatPC32 therefore can output the rotor
positions with 0, 1 or 2 decimals. Corrections of the antenna positions can
automatically be saved. In previous versions that had to be done manually.

5. The tool 'DataBackup' has been added. The tool allows users to save the
SatPC32 program data via mouse click and to restore them if necessary. After
the program has been configured for the user's equipment the settings should
be saved with 'DataBackup'. If problems occur later, the program can easily
restore the working configuration.

6. The rotor interfaces IF-100, FODTrack, RifPC and KCT require the
kerneldriver IOPort.SYS to be installed. Since it is a 32-bit driver it will
not work on 64-bit Windows systems. On such systems the driver can cause
error messages. To prevent such messages the driver can now optionally be
deactivated.

7. SuM now outputs a DDE string with azimuth and elevation, that can be
evaluated by client programs. Some demo files show how to program and
configure the client.

Domenico,

You can purchase the registration key from AMSAT-DL, AMSAT-NA, and AMSAT-UK;
this is explained on the SatPC32 web site. The money collected goes to that
AMSAT.

In your case, you should purchase the registration key from AMSAT-DL to support

2011-10-21 Thread Mark L. Hammond
I did the backup/upgrade without a problem. The additional
information on the main screen looks helpful. Thanks, Erich!

One observation about upgrading from a prior version---when you
restore the data, on the Programs Menu you will lose the new
additions of the links to the DataBackup (and Timesynch) programs.
This is mentioned in the What's New.txt file as follows:

   5. The tool 'DataBackup' has been added to the list of programs
that can be started from the SatPC32 menu 'Programs'.

I realized the programs listed in the Programs menu are user
configurable, so it's no big deal. Just an FYI.

i think i have a bunch of ao40 qso's on my website.
http://www.amsatnet.com/audio.html

problem is you are dreaming of reliving a time in history when we were
fortunate to have launches that were reasonably priced. today, we take what is
free and if that means proliferation of cubesats and nonosats so be it.

if you are willing to pay for a heo launch, let your favorite amsat know and
they will construct a heo for you to launch.

otherwise you should stop hampering the dreams and aspirations of those
building launchable satellites today. history might repeat itself but not
without a lot of money.

Hi Charles ,KM9U

There are two possible outcomes:

If you have a HEO satellite working with many transponders from the VHF
to the K band like on AO40 you must became a microwave experimenter and
this is the purpose of the Amateur Radio.

On the reverse side if you use only your cell phone or internet.Skype
you are not an Amateur Radio

Hi Bruce,KK5DO

AMSAT-DL is working very hard on P3-E and P5-A and in the near future they
will be able to launch P3-E

Work on P3-E is continuing and AMSAT-DL is busy looking for launch
possibilities and other ways for financing it, i.e. on coat-tails of the
P5 Mars Mission.

Indeed, P3-E is not a dream but a reality and AMSAT-DL need the support of
the community.

There will only a P3-E, if we all really want it..

If you want to support P3-E, than please visit

i think i have a bunch of ao40 qso's on my website.
http://www.amsatnet.com/audio.html

problem is you are dreaming of reliving a time in history when we were
fortunate to have launches that were reasonably priced. today, we take what
is free and if that means proliferation of cubesats and nonosats so be it.

if you are willing to pay for a heo launch, let your favorite amsat know and
they will construct a heo for you to launch.

otherwise you should stop hampering the dreams and aspirations of those
building launchable satellites today. history might repeat itself but not
without a lot of money.

 Hi Peter,NH6VB

I believe that Stefan,VE4NSA never worked or was listening
on a HEO othervise he will be not in favour only on the Cubesat
and I am sure he will pull also like me and many others for P3E

To give Stefan a demonstration of what I am stating I have sent
to all of you a WAV file 3 minutes long with a QSO via AO40 in
wich we are three of us (IW2ERR-i5UXJ and i8CVS) talking like
into a telephone without QSB or QRM and nice audio quality
for hours much better than in 20 meters because we can interrupt
each other at the same time.

Sorry the QSO is in italian but it is sufficient to say that if Stefan
ever worked a HEO he have missed a lot.

Also sorry that my message to Peter,NH6VB including the WAV
 file bounced back to me.

 Thanks,

I am glad you favour HEOs. Good for you. At least the cubesat
community does not bash and discriminate against your favourite
satellite system. Any university and organization that puts up a
cubesat is a winner for me. They are fun, challenging and use the
spectrum. More power to them. I am glad AMSAT is moving along with
Fox. Feel free to support the HEOs. My money is on the Cubesats.

 Stefan,
With all due respects, have you ever worked a HEO?
I am not bashing cubesats, there is a place for them, as you say.
But, have you ever worked a HEO? If not, you have missed a lot.

 Thank you

I am so sick and tired of bashing the cubesat community. At least they
are putting satellites in orbit and they ARE licensed radio amateurs
with the same access to the spectrum as all of us!
