Re: [android-developers] Android Browser plug in
Please note that Android native browser is a very broad definition. The hardware vendors and/or Android distributers are free to include/exclude any browser of their choosing (afaik). There is also very big differences between the versions actually included in commercial products. Even among new products released roughly at the same time I spot some key differences. [android-developers] Re: Nexus 7 USB Host - Not able to enumerate device
HI, first: USB-Host including the USB-Host api works for me on the Nexus 7 - no root required. You could try an app like USB Device Info to validate your hardware setup (usb adapter etc.). I have setup intents and filters, but I also assume they are not necessary if you scan for devices yourself. As I understand it, you just tried a mouse and a phone? I just made a test with a mouse and though USB Device Info saw it on the linux tab, it did not see it on the android tab. My app also did not see the mouse. I assume since android handles the mouse itself, it does not make it visible to the app. I.e. try another usb device. If you can see it on the Android tab in USB Device Info, you probably should see it in your app. Am Sonntag, 28. [android-developers] Unreliable resource bucket loading on Nexus7

The code works most of time, but occasionally wrong activity got loaded, and I can see that getResources().getBoolean(R.bool.isPhoneLayout) returns true in debugger when that happens. I am capturing frames from camera and rendering them in real time via OpenGL ES 2.0. Now I want to record them to a movie file along with audio. On iPhone, I had AVAssetWriter that would take care of the recording, giving me 30fps. What are my options on android? I tried searching but couldn't find any. I am new to android btw, so I might have overlooked some API. I am sure it exists, but just can't find it. [android-developers] Re: Android Tablet Lockdown
Take a look at TabPilot Tablet Manager. It's listed in Google Play. It's for locking down multiple tablets into kiosk mode that requires a password to exit. You can configure which apps appear on the screen via a cloud-based system that controls them all wirelessly. It's different than an app lock program in that it has this central management portal. There's a free and a paid version available. It's designed primarily for schools, to allow the teacher to lock down a group of tablets and each teacher can choose which apps are available during their class. It also functions as an app distribution system, pushing apps from the central control system to the tablets with the paid version. It will even remotely install the apps on the tablets with no user interaction if the tables are rooted. It has its own password system, so it doesn't use the screen lock password. I'm not sure if that would suit your environment or not. On Wednesday, October 24, 2012 2:36:48 PM UTC-4, Alan Honeycutt wrote: I'm attempting to lock down an android tablet for kiosk-like functionality and have explored the existing application options for doing so, but have not found anything that meets my needs. Specifically, the tablet needs to be able to operate without a password in normal mode, locking the user out of any functionality other than that provided by the approved app (or apps); however, the tablet must not allow the user to bypass the kiosk functionality (for example, by entering safe mode) without a password. The apps that I've used so far get around the safe mode problem by forcing you to provide a screen lock password, but this means the user has to supply a password each time the tablet is locked, which won't work for my use case (wherein users will take their tablets home and won't keep them on constantly). My suspicion is that the functionality that I'm seeking can't be achieved at the application level and will require a custom ROM, but I thought I'd poll this group before embarking down that path. [android-developers] How to get support for your Android app in Google Play? Any Developer Support Manager in this group?
Let me try to provide detailed description of the problem - hopefully it'll help to explain my situation. My company published pretty good language learning application 2 years ago to Google Play (then Android Market). Over those 2 years - everything was going OK, app is pretty well implemented, it was selling well, customers were happy, all in all - great times. About a 45 days ago, it was decided that we tweak description a bit since it's been two years and we did it. But then, all of sudden about two weeks ago, our application disappeared from Google Play. We got our developer to login into Console and there he found that it was for some reason Suspended. We were of course shocked and sent email to Google Play developer support - no response came back. After a day of investigation our developer finally came back with some idea of what happened - apparently on Sept 19th Google sent email notification to email developer used to open Market account. In email it was said that we need to change description since the one we posted contained keywords and they gave us 7 days to do so. Obviously, we missed that deadline - but are now in terrible situation. We have tens of thousands of people who paid for the app and now can't install it when they get new device. Because this was minor offense (even though we weren't aware of the problem and would of course fix the damn description if our developer checked his email), we are allowed to upload APK under new namespace - but this would leave existing customers without updates - and they would be furious (and rightfully so). So, what to do? Do you have any advice on how to get in touch with some manager from Google Play developer support and make this right? Because we have tried emailing support - after sending 10 emails we finally started getting generic we've are unable to reinstante your app messages back - but trying to talk with them is obviously impossible! They don't read at all what we write, they just copy-paste that fix your application and upload it under new package _if you are allowed_ (even though there was never problem with the app). And in the meantime, we need to deal with tens of thousands of both ours and Google's customers that paid serious money to have the app, and are now angry that they can't download or update the app - simply because of minor mistake in description. [android-developers] Test accounts blocked due to In-App Billing transactions
Hi there, we are currently developing In-App Billing for our app, and we have two test accounts - one is used by the developer in the Ukraine and another one used by me (testing). Both of these accounts were provided with the details of the same debit card to make purchases. After some successful use, both of these accounts are now blocked (even for use with their other, private, valid credit cards), probably due to some weird anti-fraud detection algo by Google. From looking around the web, it seems like we're not the only ones who've run into this issue, but I couldn't find how to resolve this - I still haven't received any email from Google regarding the issue, so I don't even know who to address in order to do so. How can this be prevented? I find it strange that google blocks test accounts that show in the developer console as test accounts. [android-developers] ListView: row content independent clickable areas
Hi, I am trying to achieve listview row layout that would let me use click areas (views i could bind OnClickListener to) no matter on real row content. I do not want to use OnTouchListener, so my attempt is based on using RelativeLayout and overlay real row content with click areas. But for some odd reasons I am unable to make it work, desipie recent beta of ADT shows the layout as expected. When deployed on device it does not work. Any notes, ideas or hints highly appreciated. I asked that question on StackOveflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13108968/listview-row-content-independent-clickable-areasso here's copy of that question: -- I got listview's row layout like this (this is stripped down version of my real layout so do not comment of things like single elements wrapped in LinearLayout etc. - it just to illustrate the issue - final version got more elements there): [image: Inline images 1] XML file is below for reference, but I shortly describe what I want to achieve: - blue box (icon) and usually long text here TextView are row real content (item_main_container). It can be anything - it shall be irrelevant. This layer content is not clickable. - the red and green boxes are views I bind row's OnCliclListeners to (wrapped in item_click_area_container)- I just want user to be able to tap on the row, no matter what's item_main_container's content really is (so these red/green are transparent in the app). These are set transparent on the image so you can see item_main_content thru it). Please note red and green represent *separate* actions. I need to be able to have more elements on that layers (i.e. 4 or 5) to handle separate actions depending on where user tapped. - the yellow area (button_bar_container) holds buttons user may want to tap. So basically item_click_area_container overlays item_main_container, but not button_bar_container, which is above item_click_area_containerotherwise user would not be able to tap on any of its button. Layout outline looks like this: [image: Inline images 2] *QUESTIONS* 1. Why this is not working as expected and/or how to fix that? 2. You may run into other problems using PayPal to collect money through your Android app. The only allowed use of a non-Google Play payer is for physical goods or services. [android-developers] setNextMediaPlayer for Video
Hi Guys, I was trying to play two videos gapless using the setNextMediaPlayer of API16. I see the videoaudio of the first, but then only the audio of the second one. I assume it is coz the first MediaPlayer still has access to the SurfaceHolder/SurfaceView. Why doesn't the second MediaPlayer get access to this display after the first MediaPlayer is completed? How do i specify this release of resources?. If i do it explicitly on the OnCompletionListener of the first video, then I am going to introduce a delay of release of resource, which is the main reason I am trying to use an API like setNextMediaPlayer thanks Shankar code: mp0 = new MediaPlayer(); mp1 = new MediaPlayer(); try { mp0.setDataSource(/mnt/sdcard/39.mp4); mp0.setDisplay(holder); mp0.prepare(); } catch (Exception e) { } mp0.setOnPreparedListener(this); mp0.setOnCompletionListener(this); mp0.start(); mp0.setAudioStreamType(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC); try{ mp1.setDataSource(/mnt/sdcard/40.mp4); mp1.prepare(); mp1.setOnPreparedListener(new MediaPlayer.OnPreparedListener() { @Override public void onPrepared(MediaPlayer mp) { Log.d(VideoLoop, Adding as next player); mp0.setNextMediaPlayer(mp1); } }); -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Using OpenGL ES 2.0 on camera buffers
Hi, I looked around yesterday for an answer to this but couldn't find a proper way to do this. All of the answer were 'hacks' sort of, results in huge loss in fps doing this. I am wondering if there's an 'official' way to get camera buffer to GPU? What I mean by that is: a) Avoid converting from YUB to RGB (takes a lot of CPU cycles, drops fps) b) Not copying the buffers (sort of like in iOS, where you can bind the texture, and avoid expensive memcpy) c) Save the buffers to a video file It doesn't matter if I need to use the latest device and/or Android OS. Just want to know the proper way of doing this or if it's still yet not possible. Thanks! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group.
