2019-07-24 Thread Marcelo Olate
Dianne Hackborn!!

How would it be possible to create an application that monitors the writing
event on the android smartphone to create an anti-pedophilia application? I
work with development using react-native and would like to know if there is
such a possibility.

[android-developers] Please help!! Recommendation, using Android Arc Weld Or Chrome Extension, or some other option as a Universal application platform.

2016-02-27 Thread Shane Carr
Hello, I currently work on a social messaging product we build for Android.
I want to migrated it to a multi platform desktop application in chrome.

We have an Android version which works and is live in google play, and has
been very successful. My scenario is I'd like to light this up cross all
major oses clearly we'll need to make some modifications. The scenario:to
run on Linux ( eg Mint), chrome os, Mac, Windows. I am looking for advice
about approaches. Some time last year i prototyped the app on arc-weld and
it ran fine, minus no gcm, and i'll need a sinal r library. From some
casual investigation it isn't clear to me if this is intended for
production usage. Whatever i build needs to be be distributed officially
the chrome store or some official store. I work for a very large company
and we like to light this up at a large scale. It wont' be a toy project.
The other alternative i am aware of is a chrome extensions. Looking at this
it seems like a more significant rewrite from where we are. In addition the
architecture doesn't seem as advanced as the android architecture, which i
find incredibly elegant. Also we use a sqlite database so it seems i'd
probably have to look at some alternatives there as well like indexdb or
something. My question is can anyone suggest some points to get started.
However we have a lot of resources, and engineering cost isn't as much of
an issue. We need a no compromise experience, beautiful and elegant. Which
of these options would google more likely recommend, and are there any
others which might be better. The only constraint on this is i'd like to
distribute it though one of the google stores, it needs to be safe and
consumable for edu/business type scenarios. We have very high standards on
experience, deployment, security etc.

[android-developers] Please help.. Noob... Android Emulator sucks

2013-04-29 Thread Dan
So the android emulator is a complete dog. I would say it's a good 2
minutes before
it's done loading up and sometimes when I go to close it down, it just
stops responding.

I then found out about the Intel Atom (x86) approach and somehow that's
frickin worse!!?!?!
Sometimes it doesn't even load beyond the window frame.

Can someone please help me with some suggestions?

I run a Mac Mini with Mac OSX 10.7.5, 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram.

Using Eclipse, downloaded most recent SDK from Android Developer site,
installed the Intel X86 etc.

Any help would be appreciated as Im completely frustrated at the lack of
direction from Android themselves.

Thanks guys

[android-developers] Please help me to get a rid of this error - The type android.app.Fragment cannot be resolved

2013-02-27 Thread Manas Shah
Greeting,

I am using android.support.v13 and android.support.v4 external JAR files.
I have done necessary typecasting in the code so it will always refer above
mention JAR files but not the android.app.Fragment .
But still its gives below error :

The type android.app.Fragment cannot be resolved. It is indirectly
referenced from required .class files

I have also checked build path. Build sequence is android.support.v4 --
android.support.v13 -- Android 2.2 -- Android dependence.

Any idea what I`m missing here. I am attaching the code for reference.

Thank you in advance !
-Manas

}

  I have looked into this again...and understand that canvas.scale has 4
parameters, being the co-ordinates of the points I assume...but I cannot
still understand the float sx, float sy...

sx=-1 and sy=1...it will scale, agreed...but is not there a better way?

No one is going to download a RAR file from you and weed through your code
to fix your problem. Try posting a relevant code sample and explaining your
problem better. Details like what device you're running on and what version
of Market you're running would help, for example.

[android-developers] Please Help...Android 4.0.3 WebView Crash...

2012-06-19 Thread Tommy Hartz
Hi,

On android 4.0.3 I have an Activity that contains a webview. This webview
loads a Google Maps webpage that is stored on our servers. The Map is
overlaid with a Radar.

When I double tab to zoom in on the map my app crashes. It is crashing and
gives me an error com.android.launcher/com.android.launcher2.Launcher
(server)' ~ Channel is unrecoverably broken and will be disposed!

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? It seems to work fine on my
phones 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 as well as a few other devices that I have tried it
on. The table however is the one giving me the issue. It is an Acer A200

Thank you for your time,

Tommy

Unless you decided to name your app com.android.launcher, this message
is not from your app and may have nothing to do with your problem.

RE: [android-developers] Please Help...Android 4.0.3 WebView Crash...

2012-06-19 Thread Tommy Hartz
That's the weird part, it happens inside my app but I assume if it was a
problem with my app it would happen on all devices. It seems like it might
be a bug with WebView on 4.0.3 I was kind of hopeing someone else has seen
the issue or knows about it. It only happens when I try to zoom in on the
Google map that is inside the WebView.

If it is crashing (as in you get a Force Close-style dialog), there
should be a Java stack trace at the end of your LogCat associated with
that crash.

[android-developers] Please help about Renderscript compute

2012-04-16 Thread Booker
Hi, all.

I am a newbie of Android development and I am developing an app for
image processing and I ported some filters to android.

However, the performance is not good and I read some articles pointing
renderscript is one of the way to boost performance.

I read some codes but I find it too difficult for me to understand.

I have a edge detection filter implemented in JAVA and I would like to
port it to RS.

I have read the Helloworld Compute code and I can see the root() is
processing one pixel each time and unpack it into a float4 variable.

However, in my code, I need to read not only one pixel data but
several to calculate the result and I use 2D array to store the
values.

How can I implement this in RS, computing more than one pixel in the
same time?

application merges these files and creates its database.

However it works in some Android phones, and does not works in others. I
tried almost dozen of code example in blogs. everytime I got same result.
App's platform vers. is 1.5 so it is not about platform vers.

According to logs of phones that application crushs, app creates copies db
file from Assets to database. then when it attempts to get a query for the
first time, it crushs and gives that error:

and here is my codes that copies asset files into database

String[] dbFiles = myContext.getAssets().list(ASSETS_DB_FOLDER);
OutputStream myOutput = new FileOutputStream(DB_PATH+DB_NAME);
 for(int i =0; i  dbFiles.length; i++)
{
Log.i(FFLOG,COPYDB:+dbFiles[i]);
InputStream myInput =
myContext.getAssets().open(ASSETS_DB_FOLDER+/+dbFiles[i]);
byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
int length;
while ((length = myInput.read(buffer))  0) {

[android-developers] please help to find out deleted or updated contact in android device contact list

2012-02-15 Thread vijay kher
Hi ,

I wants to get contact that is either deleted or updated by user in device
contact list.

For that i have try with content observer and notice that its onChange()
method is called with one boolean parameter when any contact is added or
deleted.But does not give any information regarding that contact.

So is there any listener in android for getting contact information that is
either deleted or updated by user in device contact list or any action
fired from system.

Thanks in advance,

Re: [android-developers] please help to replace lock screen theme

2012-02-05 Thread Kristopher Micinski
You can't directly do this.

You can only replace the lock screen.

http://thinkandroid.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/handling-screen-off-and-screen-on-intents/

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6737760/android-lockscreen-tutorial

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5529608/android-how-to-develop-custom-lock-screen

Basically the answer is: don't do this. If you do this, your app is
basically, violating a security hole in the android system. The behavior
that older lock screen apps use is not good practice, and will be (if it
has not already been) removed from the API so your app will cease to work.

Perhaps you think but my app is special.

Answer: no, it's not.

Perhaps you think but only I will ever use my app, so I don't mind if it
breaks good coding practices, might be removed from the market for
violating security practices (highly unlikely..), and uses now considered
deprecated pieces of the API. Well, then perhaps the answer is to go
right ahead.

In general if you're wanting to modify the behavior of the *system*, you
can't do it with an app.

 Perhaps you think but only I will ever use my app, so I don't mind if
 it breaks good coding practices, might be removed from the market for
 violating security practices (highly unlikely..), and uses now considered
 deprecated pieces of the API. Well, then perhaps the answer is to go
 right ahead.

 In general if you're wanting to modify the behavior of the *system*,
 you can't do it with an app.

Trust me... you can't do this...

I've been through the SDK, so have many other people on the list,
especially Mr. Murphy (one of the people answering the posts on SO). If
there had been a way to do it, he would have told you.

2011-11-27 Thread Raghav Sood
Use any one of the numerous methods to send the files to your server (HTTP,
FTP etc). You can use something on the server to combine them into a video.
What you do on the server is not part of the Android SDK, and hence doesn't
belong on the list.

What do you mean by not working? Are you getting a specific error? What
does the LogCat say? Try adding breakpoints to your code.

Also, in my personal opinion, it would be easier to send the images via
HTTP or FTP.

2011-11-27 Thread Raghav Sood
I didn't quite understand your explanation. From what I get, you are saving
images to the SD Card, and then send those images in a byte array to your
server and want to save it as a video file? From what I have learnt so far
in this world, image files don't arbitrarily convert themselves to video
files. It would be easier for you to record the entire video and then send
it after the recording has finished to the server.

Thanks

RE: [android-developers] Please help me!!! how to create video file on server side by send onPreviewFrames byte array

2011-11-27 Thread Muhammad UMER

No, my purpose is not to save to SD Card, My purpose is to capture video from
android camera and as i captured the video(not complete video, like frames)
send live to server and server will save it to file.
Is Mediarecorder will help me to do this?

thanks

I didn't quite understand your explanation. From what I get, you are saving
images to the SD Card, and then send those images in a byte array to your
server and want to save it as a video file? From what I have learnt so far in
this world, image files don't arbitrarily convert themselves to video files. It
would be easier for you to record the entire video and then send it after the
recording has finished to the server.

Thanks

What do you mean by not working? Are you getting a specific error? What does
the LogCat say? Try adding breakpoints to your code.

Also, in my personal opinion, it would be easier to send the images via HTTP or
FTP.

See this for FTP upload:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6464456/how-do-you-upload-images-to-an-ftp-server-within-an-android-app.

It might be overly ambitious to send uncompressed frames to the server. You can
compress them to Jpeg in memory and send these to the server via whatever
method. On the server concatenate the files to a MJpeg stream.

If you are sure that what you are sending from the device is fine, then I'd
imagine that whatever server side system you are using to save the files isn't
doing it the correct way. What do you mean by correct format? Does it get saved
only partially? Or is it just a mixed up bunch of data?

Thanks

[android-developers] Please Help, DalvikVM, Check Verify Failed at VFY: register1 v0 type 12, wanted, Rejected Opcode

2011-11-21 Thread Soma
Hi All,

If you find this recurring post, sorry my first post was not yet approved
at time of Posting this and it is quite urgent for me to wait...

I'm currently working on a Wrapper for Android, Which wraps an android
apk with some DRM related stuff.. which are by the way Android
activities..

The activities i had created worked perfectly when I tested them in an
Emulator as well as on a Device.

I tried integrating it with an Application from our org's apps
store... Steps below

* Extracted the apk with apktool
* Extracted class files with dex2jar
* added the class files to an Eclipse android project as classes
folder
* Added the activity def from the original app manifest to my manifest
* Compiled and Launched the app from eclipse

Note : The activities I had created are working very fine.. They load
complete their work and try to launch the game application i was using
to Test Integration.

here's when I come across the VerifyError

[android-developers] Please Help with GPS Provider Switch

2011-11-16 Thread Tommy Hartz

Hey,

Right now when trying to get a user location I start with the GPS Provider.
I have a timer set for 30 seconds, If a location is not found in 30 seconds
the timer goes off and stops that location request. When that happens I move
to the Passive Provider. After 30 seconds if a location is not found I stop
the location request and move to the Network Provider.

My issue is that when the network provider gets called it never does
anything. If I start with the network provider it goes off just fine and
returns a location back to me. Below is the code I am trying to use:

gpsTimer.schedule(new TimerTask(){

  @Override

  public void run() {

startPassive();

  }

}, 3);

currentTimer = GPS;

locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 0, 0,
locationListener);

private void startPassive(){

locationManager.removeUpdates(locationListener);

//Now we want to try for a Passive Fix

currentTimer = Passive;

passiveTimer.schedule(new TimerTask(){

  @Override

  public void run() {

startNetwork();

  }

}, 3);

Looper.prepare();

Looper.myLooper().quit();

locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.PASSIVE_PROVIDER, 0,
0, locationListener);

private void startNetwork(){

locationManager.removeUpdates(locationListener);

currentTimer = Network;

Looper.prepare();

Looper.myLooper().quit();

locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER, 0,
0, locationListener);

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank so much in
advance.

No it doesn't - that's not possible.

Again, that's not possible.

I believe you just call bindService(), which states that it will create the
Service if it needs to.

[android-developers] Please help me out with problem of indefinite service

2011-11-11 Thread phannguyen
Dear all,
I have an app that contains Activity A and MyService which this
service runs in background indefinitely. Every time Activity A call
onStart i bind this activity to myservice in order to pass data from
Activity A to myservice and Activity A unbind to myservice when it
calls onStop. Everything works ok for 3 days , but now activity A
cannot bind to myservice every time it call onStart anymore. myservice
is still running in background, i know this because i see myservice in
list of service return from
ActivityManager.getRunningServices(Integer.MAX_VALUE).
So what is happening to myservice? it has worked well but now not
correct anymore. this activity A can only bind to myservice again by
calling StartService() again, this will call onCreate on myservice.I
don't want to call startService() again because this is an indefinite
service. Assuming that i have to call startService() again, i dont
even know that when and where i will call startService() again.

/
Here is my code of Activity A:

class ActivityA extends Activity {
Messenger mService;
...
 @Override
protected void onStart() {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
Log.i(TAG, onStart);
super.onStart();
startServiceInBackground();
}

private void startServiceInBackground(){

if(isMyServiceRunning()){
 Log.i(TAG, startServiceInBackground already);
  if(!mIsBound){
  doBindService();
   }
}
else {
  // intent.setAction(com.android.test.MY_SERVICE);
Log.i(TAG, startServiceInBackground first time);
   startService(intent);
   doBindService();
   }
}

 private boolean isMyServiceRunning() {

}
   return false;
 }

 void doBindService() {
Log.i(TAG, doBindService);
bindService(new Intent(ActivityA.this, MyService.class),

//0:mean that i don't need to call onCreate() of service once
again because it has already existed after calling //
startService()
mIsBound = true;

}

IBinder service) {
Log.i(TAG, onServiceConnected);

} catch (RemoteException e) {

}

}

Log.i(TAG, doUnbindService);
if (mIsBound) {

[android-developers] Please help with Notepad tutorial

2011-10-27 Thread SteveC
I've been trying to resolve an issue for a couple hours now, and can't
seem to find a solution in the archives. I'm hoping some generous
coder will help out a noob here.

I've been following the steps outlined in the Notepad tutorial,
specifically Notepadv1 located at this URL:

http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/notepad/notepad-ex1.html

Even after confirming my code with that of the solution files, I am
still seeing these errors...

http://www.screencast.com/t/gKH0W4AHm

Please help me figure out what I've done wrong so I can move to the
next step in the training.

I can also connect on Skype to show you a screencast of my environment
if it would help.

Skype: steveclark.thegocard

Thank you!!

[android-developers] please help: broadcast receiver does not execute code

2011-10-13 Thread John Goche
Hello,

I am having the following problem and was wondering whether
anyone here could be so kind so as to help me. I am having a
broadcast receiver in my code that opens a database and sets
an alarm. However the code that sets the alarm is never called
as shown in the adb logcat output. What is interesting is that the
application does not crash but the intent that is called after the
alarm setter was supposed to be called is run. So the intent
that is launched after the alarm was supposed to be set is
called even though I see no debug output telling me that
the alarm setter function is called.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

(please see code below)

Thanks,

John Goche

public class AlarmReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {

  @Override
  public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {

Log.d(AlarmReceiver, received);

// retrieve database handle

DB db = DB.db(context);

// retrieve data from database

Globals.data = db.getData();

// reset alarms (seems like this does not get called)

Log.d(AlarmReceiver, Calling alarm setter...);
AlarmSetter.doSetupAlarm(context);
Log.d(AlarmReceiver, Done.);

// start new intent (this actually starts up for real)

Intent i = new Intent(context, AlarmExpiredActivity.class);
i.putExtra(alarmMessages, intent.getBundleExtra(alarmMessages));
i.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
context.startActivity(i);

  }

}

class AlarmSetter {

  public static void doSetupAlarm(Context ctx) {

Log.d(AlarmSetter, doSetupAlarm called.);

   // ...

}

D/AlarmReceiver( 3805): received
I/ActivityManager(   61): Starting: Intent { flg=0x1000
cmp=com.bar.foo/.AlarmExpiredActivity (has extras) } from pid 3805

[android-developers] please help debugging

2011-09-18 Thread John Goche
Hello,

I have an application which pushes a screen when I press
a button on another screen. It was working fine until having
made some code changes and run the application again I get
the following messages (see below). I tried tracing the activity
that is pushed but it is after onCreate and onStart that the
application crashes with the message the application
com.foo.bar has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again..
Since my application makes it past initialization I don't know
where to look for the bug. Any ideas or tips for debugging
this one?

Thanks,

John Goche

[android-developers] Please help me with this issue

2011-06-23 Thread Jatin Salla
I am new to Android and have almost completed developing the Mobile
app which consumes the REST service and also uses Google API for this
app.
This application is developed in Android Version 2.3.3 API level 10
(Google API (Google Inc.) - API level 10).

I thought of checking the backward compatibility of the app I created,
hence changed the AVD (also tried creating new AVD) to point to
Android version 2.1.1(Google API (Google Inc.) - API Level 7).

But When I started the Emulator with this new AVD the app is not
running and I check the logcat and getting following issue in the

Hi there,

  I'm a french android developer. I've published an app in the market

of my app, but i don't know for other countries. That's not so easy to
find... So I'm looking for some people who can help give me links to
such websites, and can help me to publish on those sites (when not in

Here's the link for my app:

Re: [android-developers] Please help me test my app

2011-03-09 Thread Jeremy Cowgar
I tested on my Droid X. It would be nice for the tiles to scale. The
game only occupied the upper left side of the screen. Also, the bottom
text entry displays text that I cannot read because the text is maybe
2x larger than the entry widget. Thus, I can only see the bottom half
of the text.

Thanks Jeremy,

I was expecting the layout problem as I am using an absolute layout for now
but will change it to relative in the next version.
As for the text widget that was unexpected but I shall try to fix it. I also
know that my AI often lets go of obvious wins but haven't been able to fix
that. Anyone else has any feedback?

Thanks

[android-developers] Please help shape Emerging Communications 2011 by editing topic discussion document

2011-01-11 Thread Lee S Dryburgh
Dear Androiders,

I'd like all those with an opinion to help shape the event by editing
topic discussion document.

It's completely open and can be edited here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KjezTMWapFJlKos0cE8QtNPDLZaQgj6st2luOOZZAds/edit?hl=enauthkey=CPeU1owE

Topics should be related to the conference tagline What's Next in
Telecom, Mobile  Internet Communications.

It may help to remember that the Emerging Communications Conference
Awards covers four broad categories, which are:

1. Concept and futurism: the thinking needs to be outward beyond 2-5
years. Anything less is obvious.
2. Product and service demos: it's got to be new and interesting. And
it's got to be complete show and tell, not slideware.
3. Technology and engineering: new technologies including new
technical specifications.
4. Policy discussions: insider stuff. People steeped in the ins and
outs of decisions being made that affect us all.

Please contribute in order to help maintain an independent forum with
a positive mission - to ensure an open exchange of vision and ideas in
order to positively influence the future of
technology-mediated-communications through education, research, and
events.

I believe the eComm 2008 was the first conference to cover Android
(thankyou to Google for their support) and was certainly the first to
strongly promote it. eComm 2009 featured selected ADC winners.

[android-developers] Please help with Bitmap issue. I have screen shots!?!

2011-01-06 Thread chris harper
Kostya (or anyone else)

Ok. In TRYING to write out a ANDROID Bitmap to a windows .bmp file.
I am very close but there is something that is still off because my image
doesn't look right (as in the screen shot below).

Here is how I am writing out to the file:

cache - is the Android Bitmap file which I want to write out to a .bmp file.

It is  set to:  Bitmap.Config.ARGB_

   //Get the Bitmap height, width, and put the data
into a byte array (bytesar)

byte[]   bytesar   = null;
ByteBuffer  dst   = null;

int height = cache.getHeight();
int width = cache.getWidth();
int bmSize = cache.getRowBytes() * height;

   dst = ByteBuffer.allocate(bmSize);

   bytesar = new byte[bmSize];

dst.position(0);
cache.copyPixelsToBuffer(dst);

dst.position(0);
dst.get(bytesar);

   //I then write out the bytesar byte array AFTER I
write out the BMP header.

 The settings in the header are:

 private byte bitmapInfoHeader [] = new byte [40]; - Header size is 40
private int biSize = BITMAPINFOHEADER_SIZE;
private int biWidth = width //width of Bitmap
private int biHeight = height //height of Bitmap
private int biPlanes = 1;
private int biBitCount = 32; //The bite count is 32
private int biCompression = 0;

 size is computed by:
 int pad = (4 - ((width * 3) % 4)) * height;
 biSizeImage = ((width * height) * 3) + pad;

private int biSizeImage
private int biXPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
private int biYPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
private int biClrUsed = 0;
private int biClrImportant = 0;

It's very close because here is what it looks like when I write out the .bmp
file.
As you can see it's upside down and the colors are off:
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i409/ch39336688/test-2.jpg

In the same block of code I write out using the Android lib to make sure
that my image is good via the code:
FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(test.png);
 cache.compress(Bitmap.
CompressFormat.PNG, 90, out);

And here is how that comes out (which is how I want):
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i409/ch39336688/test.png

Again I don't just want to use compress to write out my images because I
have a lot of images and it kills my performance. So I want to stream the
images out to a .bmp file is what my overall goal is. Someplace in my .bmp
header I have something wrong I think.

Any help on what anyone thinks my issue is would be a great help. Thank you

-Chris

Re: [android-developers] Please help with Bitmap issue. I have screen shots!?!

2011-01-06 Thread Kostya Vasilyev

Chris,

First off, Windows bitmap are stored upside-down:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMP_file_format#Pixel_Array_.28bitmap_data.29

The Pixel Array is a block of 32-bit DWORDs, that describes the image
pixel by pixel. Normally pixels are stored upside-down with respect
to normal image raster scan order, starting in the lower left corner,
going from left to right, and then row by row from the bottom to the
top of the image.[1]

I *think* you can indicate top-down order by setting height to a
negative value (in the file header).

Secondly, the color problem - 32-bit per pixel Windows bitmaps use BGRx
data format, blue-green-red, then one byte is ignored.

Your input image is ARGB, so red and blue are switched around.

Since you indicated that you'll be processing these images further, you
could handle both issues in your server code. Or you could handle them
on the phone, changing byte order around isn't going to be as
time-consuming as compression.

 biSizeImage = ((width * height) * 3) + pad;

private int biSizeImage
private int biXPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
private int biYPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
private int biClrUsed = 0;
private int biClrImportant = 0;

It's very close because here is what it looks like when I write out
the .bmp file.

As you can see it's upside down and the colors are off:
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i409/ch39336688/test-2.jpg

In the same block of code I write out using the Android lib to make
sure that my image is good via the code:

FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(test.png);
 cache.compress(Bitmap.
CompressFormat.PNG, 90, out);

And here is how that comes out (which is how I want):
http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i409/ch39336688/test.png

Again I don't just want to use compress to write out my images because
I have a lot of images and it kills my performance. So I want to
stream the images out to a .bmp file is what my overall goal is.
Someplace in my .bmp header I have something wrong I think.

Any help on what anyone thinks my issue is would be a great help.
Thank you

Thank you again Kostya

I will research based on what you told me and let you know if I get it to
work.

  Chris,

 First off, Windows bitmap are stored upside-down:

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMP_file_format#Pixel_Array_.28bitmap_data.29

 The Pixel Array is a block of 32-bit DWORDs, that describes the image pixel
 by pixel. Normally pixels are stored upside-down with respect to normal
 image raster scan order, starting in the lower left corner, going from left
 to right, and then row by row from the bottom to the top of the image.[1]

 I *think* you can indicate top-down order by setting height to a negative
 value (in the file header).

Or you could handle them on
 the phone, changing byte order around isn't going to be as time-consuming as
 compression.

 Kostya (or anyone else)

 Ok. In TRYING to write out a ANDROID Bitmap to a windows .bmp file.
 I am very close but there is something that is still off because my image
 doesn't look right (as in the screen shot below).

 Here is how I am writing out to the file:

 cache - is the Android Bitmap file which I want to write out to a .bmp
 file.
 It is  set to:  Bitmap.Config.ARGB_

//Get the Bitmap height, width, and put the data
 into a byte array (bytesar)

 byte[]   bytesar   = null;
 ByteBuffer  dst   = null;

 int height = cache.getHeight();
 int width = cache.getWidth();
 int bmSize = cache.getRowBytes() * height;

dst = ByteBuffer.allocate(bmSize);

bytesar = new byte[bmSize];

 dst.position(0);
  cache.copyPixelsToBuffer(dst);

 dst.position(0);
 dst.get(bytesar);

 //I then write out the bytesar byte array AFTER
 I write out the BMP header.

  The settings in the header are:

  private byte bitmapInfoHeader [] = new byte [40]; - Header size is 40
 private int biSize = BITMAPINFOHEADER_SIZE;
 private int biWidth = width //width of Bitmap
 private int biHeight = height //height of Bitmap
 private int biPlanes = 1;
 private int biBitCount = 32; //The bite count is 32
 private int biCompression = 0;

  size is computed by:
  int pad = (4 - ((width * 3) % 4)) * height;
  biSizeImage = ((width * height) * 3) + pad;

 private int biSizeImage
 private int biXPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
 private int biYPelsPerMeter = 0x0;
 private int biClrUsed = 0;
 private int biClrImportant = 0;

[android-developers] Please help --- Delay in the text being displayed in the browser proxy authentication dialog box

2010-10-05 Thread Revathi K J Ramanan
Hi,

When I open the browser, I have made the settings for a proxy
authentication dialog box to come up asking for user name and
password.

But a strange issue is being observed...

When the dialog box comes up and when I type the user name using the
KEYBOARD, it takes a long time for the letters to get displayed in
the text box.

Also the cursor's blink rate is drastically reduced when compared with
the blink rate in the search dialog box in the browser,where we will
type the web page address.

Please help me out solving this issue..

Some inputs may be really helpful for me and will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Revathi Ramanan

Re: [android-developers] Please Help

2010-09-27 Thread Frank Weiss
I think you'll get more help with a specific question. I suggest you start
with the developer.android.com web site and then ask for clarifications of
particular problems that you can't solve by studying the documentation
there. If you are looking for additional resources, such as PDFs, have you
tried searching with Google?

It's not clear to me that SQL Server would be any help with developing
SQLite tables. Perhaps if you explained what you had in mind?
