[android-porting] Factory configurable data
Hi Experts, I need your help in knowing if string/integer can be made factory configurable in android. eg: A welcome message is stored at some location. To change this message all a person needs to do is go to the above location and enter the new text. The ROM image build command would now take this new string for display. The advantage is that you don't need to recompile your entire project. Thanks in advance. [android-porting] why in emulator, /dev/eac is connected with the audio?
Hi Buddies, I wanna get understood that why in emulator dev/eac is the device of audio, as I know, in external/qemu/audio, there is all kinds audio drivers, such as oss, alsa, but I am very curious why in the android linux system, the dev/eac is connected with those drivers. Your ctrl element count must match the value in the asound.conf. Verify the snd_kcontrol_new struct object at the ALSA audio driver. For example: SOC_SINGLE(Line Gain, PLAYBACK_CTRL1, 5, 7, 0), //In the snd_kcontrol_new struct object then: the asound.conf file must configuration following line: pcm.AndroidPlayback { type hooks slave.pcm { type hw card 0 device 0 } hooks.0 { type ctl_elems hook_args [ { name 'Line Gain' value 7 } ] } } BTW: I am studying yet, perhaps above disscuse is incorrect. :) --- On Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 3:36 PM, Androidphan niels.kee...@tass.nl wrote: It's better to add the following to system/core/init/devices.c : { /dev/snd/, 0664, AID_SYSTEM, AID_AUDIO, 1 }, But I haven't got my sound to work yet... [android-porting] Re: Porting Andorid for MIPS
Porting the C library to a new CPU architecture requires at the very minimum the following: - modify SYSCALLS.TXT to include the MIPS-specific Linux kernel syscalls - modify bionic/libc/tools/gensyscalls.py to add MIPS-specific assembly fragments for the syscall stub generator - probably modify bionic/libc/tools/checksyscalls.py to support MIPS as well - a set of Linux kernel that should be placed into bionic/libc/kernel/original. *Please* read the docs in bionic/libc/kernel/ to understand what this means - modify bionic/libc/kernel-tools/default.py to support MIPS as well - re-generate cleaned-up kernel headers through bionic/libc/kernel/tools/update-all.py - re-generate MIPS-specific syscall stubs through your updated gensyscalls.py script - provide MIPS-specific assembly sources for a few things, like the ones on bionic/libc/arch-arm/. Most of these can be taken from recent OpenBSD sources - testing, testing, testing... I advise you to send patches for review on Gerrit so we can see what you're trying to do and tell you if it's ok, etc.. 2009/4/17 manjunatha srinivasan manjunatha.sriniva...@gmail.com Hi David Turner Thanks for reply . [android-porting] Limit the memory usage of android.
I have one board supporting two operating systems the one of which is android. How can I limit the memory use of android? Suppose I want to limit it below 16M. Can anyone tell me? --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ unsubscribe: android-porting+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com website: http://groups.google.com/group/android-porting -~--~~~~--~~--~--~---
[android-porting] Re: Limit the memory usage of android.
Android won't work in 16M of RAM. Anyway, if you have two operating systems running, there must be some other software managing them, and shouldn't you just have that software partition the RAM as desired?
