Just a suggestion...If u dont want to spent time on converting those mp3s then just use Foobar2000 with "channel mixer" plugin. Foobar2000 is the best free audio player out there with very low memory usage & with this plugin u can enjoy the surround effect in real time when the song is playing. It gives really good surround effect. I have 4.1 Creative speakars & with this combi i can really hear the rear channels giving me the diff sounds then the front...this is just awsome plugin...Im not sure that is this what u want but give it a try...both r free & very small downloads... (it is estimated that ALL ARR rehman Alabums till now sold more than 30 millions, Actually this figure is small, we think it is double this why because music companies to show accounts this do some CD and to the black market they do more where nothing is countable. We have seen, the manufacturer says.. like this to the vendor " Once the lot changes hand it is not his reposnible" as there wont be any bill or accountability for Music CD's.) 3) The cost for label creation on the cd and also on the cd case Rs 3.00 (actually it is less than Rs 1.50) 4) Buying cost it comes to Rs 5.00 If u add all it comes rs 15 add another rs 05.00 for all infracure like real estate and also the labour charges - total is Rs 20 ( Actually it never crosses Rs 10.00 ) If he add some ten Rs as profit it should be in the range of Rs 30.00 at most. But if u see the price of Rs 60.00 which is two times this is some what on the wronger path. So I feel there is nothing wrong in downloading the MP3 from the net. When the Music copanies are doing cheating business why can't we download the music. We are not cheating rather we are sharing music just as we share books or some things (now a days wives also).. Which is different to wht they do. Suggestions are good.. These suggestions are first to be followed by companies. If they decrease we are ready to buy until then it follows nothing wrong in it. Mangal Pandey- Signs of saturation, yet a sign off in style A.R.Rahman has had it with period films. I heard on one of the news channels that he has decided to stop working on them. So self-admittedly Mangal Pandey is going to be his last period film for quite some time and if this is the kind of work he does when he has had enough, then he should have enough more often! Now this album is not without the tell-tale signs of saturation, some minor indications as to why the man wants to stop, but it is still a sign off in style. I started hearing the songs emerging from the shadow of TIS and my initial reaction was whether I would have to denounce one of Gods creations. But after Al Maddath Maulah and Mangal Mangal, I am really and totally hooked. Obviously, the centerpiece of the album is Mangal Mangal, which has three versions. You cant exactly call them versions; the first two are sort of trailers for the grand finale. The percussion is overwhelming- cow bells, dhols, dhumris and add to that Kailash Khers earthy, throaty vocals and the result is magic. The Athma version seems to be the song that signals the break of the mutiny- if you note the ominous echoing drum beat, the cymbal crash followed by a war cry and Javed Akthars lyrics are awesome- Dhanya hai Bhaag har us mata ke jo aisa beta paye and Phansee tho lagti sirf than ko, kaun sapnon ko phansee lagaye. They can hang our bodies, but who can hang our dreams? Sounds as good even when transalated I have been bitten by the Sufi bug, and been bitten real bad and Al Maddath Maulah which I would call Zikrs(Bose) twin is an absolute treat. While the latter had a dominant stand alone voice supported by a chanting chorus, the vice-versa is the case with the former. The voices blend in beautiful harmony which makes you sway in sync and when Rahman cries out Maula, you cant help but put up your arms and bow in respect! Now, I am all eager to hear him do a tamil Sufi number. Main Vari Vari,the mujra is exquisite and the effect is as though the entire Zakir Hussain family decided to have a Tabla fest. Kavita Krishnamoorthy is spectacular as always. However it is given a run for its money by Rasiya, a song that I think is fabulous and also surprisingly anachronistic. Rahman has always made a conscious attempt to get the appropriate feel for a period film both in his choice of instruments as well as tunes. But this song, especially the M bits and Richas vocals sounded sort of new age to me. Takey Takey which rehashes the Bhangra beat of Pagdi..(Legend of Bhagat Singh), is slowly likeable. But the biggest disappointment of the album is Holi Re which is sub-standard to say the least. If Rahman had a reason to think he had reached a period film creative block, then his must be it. Unimaginative, crassy rhythm, and a quarter-anna worth tune, this song does not belong in the album. Now the one thing that bothers me is why Rahman, who took the pains of using such exotic instruments as the Dilruba, Oud and Kora(I am typing the last two from the credits, swear I dont know what they are), wants to stick to contemporary music with his electronic gadgets for company. Beats me, especially when he is doing such a God-level job. Hi ppl, ARR has come back strongly with yet another masterpiece in Ah aah. Especially,the Anbe aaruyirae song,which he has sung himself,is undoubtedly the best of the lot. Though Madhushree has a very good voice,her tamil songs dont make goodlistening. Her tamil pronunciation needs improvement. Same was the case with her "ding dong kovilmani" in Ji. Aamir was in Chennai recently for a day to dub Om Puri's voice over at Four Frames, the state-of-the-art studio of director Priyadarshan. Om Puri is the narrator of "Mangal Pandey ... ," something similar to what Amitabh Bachchan did for "Lagaan." In an exclusive interview Aamir Khan chats about his long break and ``Mangal Pandey." Excerpts: They say that you are an elusive star and media shy... . I have not given an interview to any Mumbai film magazines for 15 years and have my own reservations about mainstream media. I subscribe to The Hindu, Chennai edition. I like it because it is one of the few newspapers in the country that reports news unlike some others that are full of trivia (smiles). You seem to be a perfectionist going by your choice of films I am honest with my work. I only do films that I believe in and am extremely passionate about it. My passion for my work shows on screen. To be honest I thoroughly enjoy the work I do. What are your criteria for selecting a film? First I expect a bound script from my director. When I read the script for the first time, I put myself in the audience's seat. I follow my instinct and if it excites me I will do it. Your last release was "Dil Chahta Hai" nearly four years ago. Was this long break intentional? To be precise, "Dil Chahta Hai" opened on August 10, 2001 and the release date of "Mangal Pandey ... " is fixed for August 12. This gap is unplanned. I was going through some traumatic time in my personal life and for two years, I was dealing with that problem. Then it took me 18 months to grow my hair and moustache for the Mangal Pandey look. So how long did it take to finish the film? Where are the locations? The actual shoot took 180 days. We shot in Super 35, it gives you better quality in cinemascope. Unlike other films where only the special effects are shot on DI (Digital Imaging), Ketan did the entire film on DI. The locations varied from Pataudi Palace in Haryana, j to some exotic places in Maharashtra. In Mumbai film city a set was erected that depicted the Sepoy basti. What attracted you to this theme? Obviously the script, based on the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny, excited me. The film is set in one of the most beautiful countries on earth, told across the divides of time... It is the tale of friends, lovers and enemies, exploiters and exploited, and the growth and awareness of a man and a nation. The basis of the story is about how one man can change history... This sweeping epic is based on real historical events, seen as a trigger for Indian independence. It is extremely contemporary in topic. Does the film have any message? Basically it is the concept of freedom ... and the right of a man to hold his head as high as the other. As I told you earlier it is extremely contemporary. What is the difference between Bhuvan in "Lagaan" and Mangal Pandey? Bhuvan is cool and level-headed, while Mangal is a hot headed reactionary. Though Mangal's character is historic, there is no record of his personal life. So the scriptwriters Farooq Dhondy and director Ketan Mehta took some liberties. And you have sang a song... ? (Laughs) It is Rahman's fault as he encouraged me to be part of the song "Holi Re... " There are six songs, in the film though Mangal appears in only this "Holi... " song as per story requirements. Dhondy has projected Mangal as a symbol of freedom ... a spirit of that time

Guys, I believe ah aah has been recorded in the new studio (SHAFEE STUDIO 5) in 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS or could be in some other format which can't be supported by our local malaysian distributers. Could be this reason causing them to delay the Ah Aah release in Malaysia. Who knows What a poor support by the local distributors. Its orchestral version will be premiered in Birmingham, reveals the musician in a chat with DEEPA GANESH PHOTO: VINO JOHN DOWN-TO-EARTH A. R. Rahman doesn't let the glamour go to his head Waiting for A. R. Rahman in a long queue of eager-beaver journos, aspiring singers, hopeful producers and directors, friends and fans is a test of patience. To make things worse, a voice declares that everyone will get only five minutes with Rahman. What does one ask in five minutes to someone who redefined Indian film music and the world's perception of it? That too to a man who has such a huge body of work to his credit and seems so frightfully reticent? But the mild-mannered Rahman allayed all apprehensions and graciously said even after my five minutes were up: "Go on." In fact, he even offered a second chance a precious 10 minutes! A trailblazer Rahman is truly amazing for the manner in which he stormed into the Indian film music scene even before establishing his regional credentials. With his debut film Roja in 1991, he became a national phenomenon, bagging the Rajat Kamal for it. Rahman acknowledged that it was all part of a conscious design. "I wasn't too happy with the I-don't-want-to-listen-to-it attitude of our youngsters towards film music. Why can't we get our guys to listen to our own music rather than to Michael Jackson? I didn't want us to lose the market to the West. The music had to be cool, it had to be rooted, and yet had to branch out. It was like the wild imagination of a child... but it worked... It did travel beyond Chennai and attract people," explained the gifted composer. Having a studio of his own has helped him in a big way. He has had the freedom of working on his tunes day and night, for days, months and years (he worked almost for a year on the Rangeela song and worked for a good six months on Roja's "Tamizha Tamizha"), until he was fully satisfied with it. " I have rubbed many a producer the wrong way by disturbing the schedule, but it has paid off." In the case of his blockbuster album Vande Mataram too, he was fully aware of what he was doing. If it changed the image of India from a peace-loving country to a nuclear powerhouse, it was intended. Rahman and his friend Bharat Bala conceived it as a flag-waving, jingoistic declaration, a mantra of every kid in the country. "It had to be unlike the one that has been played on the radio for years. I wanted a sound that would connect me with people and capture a collective energy." But going by Rahman's style, which has a visual texture to it, his version of "Vande Mataram" doesn't capture the celebration of Indian landscape in Bankim Chandra's poem. "It wasn't intended that way," came the concise reply. With Vande Mataram, Rahman, who gave Indian music a global feel, also re-asserted himself as a gizmo freak. (In fact, he is said to spend most of his money on acquiring new electronic gadgets.) Not that he has made only foot-tapping numbers; he did classical pieces for films like Bombay, Roja, Dil Se etc besides numerous heart-rendering numbers for Tamil films. "Somehow, people just put all my melodies on the backburner and remembered me for only rhythm-driven songs. But things have changed since Lagaan. They have woken up to the other aspects in me." Rahman remembered how on his way to Gulbarga from Hyderabad, he was playing a soft song and the car driver threatened to fall asleep if he didn't play a fast one. But during one of his trips to Germany, an admirer came up to him to say how much he liked the songs in Zubeidaa, a film that failed at the box-office. "I take all criticism objectively and believe in elevating the tastes of the listener," he maintained. Back to roots Presently, Rahman is working on a project called Conference of the Words, a book based on a Sufi tale of self-discovery. This will be turned into an orchestral work and premiered in Birmingham. And like his true self, "I'm going to take a very long time on this." Despite confessions such as "I feel abnormal when I talk", Rahman loves to connect with people, of course, in a different medium. Talk of the Airtel ad, tell him it was quintessential Rahman with a good balance of melody and rhythm, and he will tell you that after a two-year stay in London for the Broadway production Bombay Dreams (he accepts that it got "bad reviews"), "there was this desperate need to reconnect. And that's why I agreed to star in it too." Rahman has broken several moulds in his career spanning 15 years. He tried to break away from the predictable, unthinking perfection of film music by using raw, untamed voices and bringing in an element of dissonance, even while he made film music hot and happening. But over the years, with every new composer wanting to be a Rahman, he has become a cliché. "I think it is important for a composer to have his own identity

Hey all, well i liked the songs of kisna as well only those which are composed by our master. the theme is awesome woww... i feel like listening to it all day.and also the english song it is only he who can do it.wht a number it can definitely compete with one of any international songs.ismail darbar has been relegated to nothing in this album compared to rahman. more so i hv lost respect for ismail after he criticised rahman on rediff.com. such a fool and stupid he doesn't know anythng of music. sorry if i am being biased but after reading his criticism i really do not like to listen to his music anymore. Bob, i don't really understand as to why u and many others seem to think like this when music for the last few movies of ARR,..New,AE,KKS,E20U18,Boys where superhit and chartbusters. Boys,E20U18 and AE broke all existing audio sales. Desam is the only album i can say failed b'coz it was a dubbed album, late release and there was not much advertising done which resulted many people was not aware esp here in M'sia abt Desam. I'm also puzzled as to why for the very 1st time as i can remember, an original ARR tamil album hv not been released yet even after 1 week of it's launch!! All the audio shops that i went don't seem to know abt an album called Ah Aah or which company is releasing it! Absolutely pathetic(sorry for the language)and sad! I really hope it releases soon by next week according to the shops that told me if not i'm sure there is sumthing wrong. [arr] Converting normal ARR mp3s to DVD quality mp3s
dear fans, yes arunachalam is correct. we must rip the aduio cds to mp3s using the VARIABLE BIT RATE - VBR mode. it will have approximately 10mb size for a song, but the quality will be very close to the audio cd. mp3s when burnt into dvds have the same bit rate. only the difference is the discs are CD and DVD ie., 700mb and 4.7gb or 8.5 gb. ripping using the vbr method we must specify minimum bitrate and maximum bitrate. we can give them as 160 and 320. the usual bitrate for dolby digital file (AC3) is 448kbps and for dts file is 600 something. if we rip using vbr method we will only get approximately upto 15 movies per cd. yours, v srinivasa krishnanArunachalam <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Technically that DVD quality cannot be acheived from normal mp3...
