Hi All, Our Boss, on almost all his latest compositions it seems likehis tunes loosing that natural touch of 90's.I dont know why its happening. it may be becoz of the changing Trend. just now i happened to listen to the RDB Trailor in TV. it is not that much superb. but something catchy in it.For those tunes more than melody there is some youthness in it.anyway i am glad that he is still withstanding the stiff competetion among MD's in Bollywood.Jibin Enjoy this Diwali with Y! Hi jibin I guess you must put your observations into a pragmatic perspective. In the 90s, Rahman was in the turf of his own with a lot of independance, allowing his natural rhythm to flow seamlessly. The movies made were not very much connected to the music, though both in isolation might have been commendable. But recently, his music is matching up with the storyline excellently. Thats where ARR comes up with stuff noone else can imagine. You can see his pervasive effect throughout the entire storyline. Its not the trend, but his ability to gel with the movie script. You must be able to appreciate that its goddam difficult to do that. Its an interesting transition in the life of any great music director, and great he is. As far as the stiff competition, I feel there is not even a distant second to Rahman in Asia leave alone Bollywood. My views are based on the intensity and the passion of the soundtracks. Thanks. Owing to a lack of funds, she recruits students from Delhi University to act in her docu-drama. Karan (Siddharth), the son of Industrialist Rajnath Singhania, who shares an uncomfortable relationship with his father, but continues to live off him, albeit very grudgingly. Aslam (Kunal Kapoor), is a middleclass Muslim boy, who lives in the bylanes near Jama Masjid, poet, philosopher and guide to his friends. Sukhi (Sharman Joshi), the group's baby, innocent, vulnerable and with a weakness for only one thing - girls. These youngsters could be anyone of us today and their lives mirror the kind of lives the youth of today lead namely a self centered and materialistic existence where ideas like patriotism and making a change are strictly the stuff history books are made of. Through her film, Sue wishes to showcase to the world the efforts of these young revolutionaries and the enormity of their contribution to the freedom movement in India. What unfolds is the inspiration behind Sue's passion for bringing their story to the world. The twist in the tale is of course the fact that more than just telling the world, Sue's film makes DJ and his friends stop and stare at themselves for being the actual descendants of these great men and never recognizing and celebrating their courage and spirit. The film thus doubles as a narrative on the changes in perspective and values the young boys and girls acting in her documentary go through as they shoot for the film. hi guys . i hope all of u know me ...iam dev from kerala , doing my third year mbbs.iam a great great fan of arr ,like all of us here in our group.i have been listening to him ever since roja happened ... and say what more , the first song he composed is still as fresh as it was some thirteen years ago..well i have always thought whats special in arr music ...whats the magic in it . well i have realised many things which i want to share with all of u ... well i am a very romantic emotional kinda guy and iam very much interested in electronics and automobiles ( iam doing third year mbbs now) ...well that would through some light on my character ha.. well i love arts and music is my life if u ask me ( i dont sing or play any instrument ) ..well coming to our boss ... what i have felt is that .." arr has reflected in his songs ,the beauty of life and the joy of living its all about life and its essence which u can call love .the one thing arr music have been telling to me is " life is indeed very beautiful " and his music inspires me to " live every moment of it "there have been many such times when i was down and thinking all crap things , hating everything around (which often happens with all of us) ...and then on hearing some cool piece like " ethatha uyarathil nilavai vaythavan yaaro " ... i have seen all my problems just melting off into thin year and myself smiling at me and telling " hey dev , whats this man this life is very beautiful ...live it to the fullest... "all my past memories are linked with one or the other arr song and i actually remember my good old memories through arr songs ( oh , what a wonderful feeling it is ) i believeindian classical music (carnatic especially)is the music , which shows man a spiritual way , to relaise himself and to realise god which instigtates in him a will and way to seek god , the divine eternity and to attain salvation ... there wont be any arguement against it for granted thats the higher form of life .. but this human life and the way we live it is something to be experienced atleast once and the joy of life is joy of arr ..For the after-life and for divine salvation there is carnatic classical For this life and the joy of living there is allah rakha rahman.so guys just keep in mind this much " life is indeed very beautiful..infact very very beautiful" "the joy of living is joy of arr" Enjoy this Diwali with Y! hi jibin, I donot completely agree about your views regarding Rahman losing the midas touch. An album for the matter of fact is depended on the Script,so the musician has to focus on the script first and in accordance to it deliver music. As far as RDB is concerned,the story seems to speak about todayz youth,and thats why u have such a soundtrack..Obviously u cnnot expect a soundtrack like say for eg,Zubeida for RDB..It would be a complete misfit. Hi Gomtesh, I meant that when rendering the Hindi vocals, the voice is a bit dizzy, whereas in the Tamil verison, every word seems to be sharp. I now feel the PITCH difference is due to the lyrics itself. When rendering the Hindi poetry in that manner, and due to Boss not being comfortable with the language (Its possible, coz the film was made long back), he had used a subdued voice and sung normally for the Tamil version... I still dont know. Somebody who has both (or either of the) originals may be able to confirm whether there is really a difference or not?! Thanks for reading. Ghajini's number: Oru maalai... was used for the promos of the film The Bourne Identity. Even in reality, Ghajini is heavily inspired from this movie. Dil Se title track for the promo of the film: The Spy Game starring Tom Cruise and some popular actress was used to great effect. The movie scenes they showed were similar to the song sequences. But yes i do agree with you the title track of Rang De Basanti might not be His ever best. Aamir to sing again To Rahmans music for Rakesyh Mehras Rang De Basanti Subhash K Jha The multi-faceted Aamir Khan's musical talent was first exposed when he rendered his voice to the smash-hit number 'Aati kya khandala' for Vikram Bhatts Ghulam. At that time, even Lata Mangeshkar had commented on how tunefully Aamir had sung this Jatin-Lalit number. Seven years later, Aamir will be singing an entire song in Rakeysh Mehra's Rang De Basanti. Prior to this, Aamir had lent his voice to a choral number in Lagaan. The number for Rang De is called Lalkaar and has been written by Prasoon Joshi and composed by A R Rahman, who shares a close association with Aamir since the Lagaan days. Both Aamir and Rahman have been closely associated with Rang De Basanti from the start and they knew every nuance of the plot. None of the ten songs from the film are item songs. They're all part of the narrative. Aamir's song comes at a critical juncture in the narrative. When we arrived at this song there was no hesitation Aamir was the first and only choice. Rahman and I immediately agreed on him. And it's turned out beautifully, says Mehra. What makes the music of Rang De Basanti special is that the songs didn't crawl out of the studio. They grew out of the narrative.
