It is quiet obvious that those popular internet medias are not very supportive to ar rahman in the recent times. in 2004 and 2005, Rediff really celebrated AR's birthday and now they jus conviniently forgot about it. there is no mention about him or his birthday in the site. But they didnt forget to call Anumalik to write a tribute to R.D Burman on his death anniversery and that fool was actually trying to promote himself than really paying the tribute to the legend. he was saying like - like Panchamda, he also is a versatile director who can do scores like Border, Virasat and some other, i dont remember. [actually the songs in virasat are copied from Ilayaraja's composition in tamil movie, esp. hi friends, this is regarding the topic"serious doubt" whatever you all have said is 100% true. now-a-days bollywood is not giving proper exposure to the rehman music...dont know why? may be rehman is (rather was) doing some off-beat and good movies (no sex involved, like "aashik banaya aapane")(rdb also seems to be a descent movie as ususal rehman film), or may be he is going international or may be they just want to stop rehman storm. generaly whatever is good does not spread in society quickly..you have to wait and feel the effect bad things spread quickly (himesh music, yes am saying it bad cause no such tallent as such but you show some hot scenes with hasmi and hammer it lakh times on screen in a day and go on screaming- hit-super-duper hit...) come on india, it is the time to be matured in every field, not only the music i know it is not the place to write this thing but it has some referance to the rehman siras you all must be aware, ramadevbaba is doing revolution in india and trying to make india desease-free, what is wrong??? but politiciens are trying to pull him down, same is happening in bollywood with rehman and one thing is clear. there are very few people who can think of matured music in bollywood other are just "jhalak dikhala ja" (dirty bollywood) remember rehman represents the musical face of india and we will alwas be proud of that... we all need to do something and and raise the quality of choice of the people around us otherwise you will find anyone coming screaming and calling himself a musically genious these are the days of anti-rehman moves bt defntly these are just the bulbules good years are to come.lets be optimisic and enjoy those years i hope i havent hurt anyone jay rehman Yahoo! Good find Wasim. A lot of similarity there. SEL have been inspired by ARR in a few instances before. So this could be another addition to the list. hi all.. been going thru the posts regarding bollywood bng biased...n i fully agree guyz...ive always had this in my mind for quite some time...take any rahman hindi release in the last 3 yrs n u can c how theyve tried their best to write the album off.. yes..i also agree that rahman always has a lot of richness to his music n the latest case being RDB...the music's so well composed n gives u the kicks! im no himesh fan..i think we shudnt even talk abt him!i'd rather discuss other talented composers like yuvan n harris... 2005 wasnt a very good year for rahman ..dont u guyz think so? lets get real...yuvan n harris did quite wellive been so damn impressed with yuvan's compositionsa few tracks from 'kanda naal muthal' r mindblowing...this guy's got some class when it comes to harris..the guy's good...but he has to move out of rahman's influence...ofcourse...'oru maalai' is a wonderful track..i also enjoyed 3 tracks from 'anniyan'... ive neverbn a vdsagar fan...but hes got his own brand of music... guyz...just look down south...the talent we have...n look at the so- called bollwoodno 1 in the same breath as rahman or a yuvan or harrisnot just music..but whe it comes to movie-makers too...we win hands down! apologiez to any northie reading this post..but hey...face it! anyway..thats how things r rahman being so humbley cant people just accept the fact that hes much more than just a music composer...im talking abt him bng the ambassador for TB, role model..icon..idolized by millions...the list goes on..! something tells me tht 2006 is def gng to be AR RAHMAN's year!!! just pray n hope his albums do really well...a few that come to my mind now r sivaji,JOK,dasa... so on... rahman rulz n rocks!!! y talk abt bollywood..its a waste of time! lets respect our icons down south...if they can be biased..so can v..! I agree. SEL is one of the more original composer teams doing a great job out there. A light inspiration is always likely... Just yesterday, me and my boss were talking about similar ideas sparking in the minds of totally disconnected individuals at different times and different scenarios. This is what I had to say to him. === It is possible that identical great thoughts can occur in the minds of more than one individual who may not even be connected by the farthest stretch of imagination. It is possible that these ideas may find fruition with one and not with other. These do not matter. Conceiving the idea in the hour of need and implementing it to bring it to fruition is what matters. All individuals who think of the same idea are great in their own right - in their being able to think of the same great idea in multiple scenarios. === And this is the same here too. ARR is genius. SEL is pretty damn good. A tad short of genius, maybe! But - both are extremely creative! Much better than the scores of Bollywood composers. I agree that YSR is attempting to be different and has certainly done so, successfully, in Arinthum Ariyamalum and Selvaraghavan's films. But there seems to be so much media hype about YSR's Pudhupettai (in my opinion it is just mediocre). Indiaglitz and Sify seems to rave about the songs in every possible article. I am beginning to wonder if something is wrong with my hearing and taste for good music.. I think and I believe I am not wrong, but do correct me if I am...ARR and Shanker Mahadevan are childhood friends...So as they grew uptogether during asimilar time span and perhaps talked with each other about the same sort of ideas those ideasmaybe embedded somewhere in thier subconscious ... and now coming out of the subconcious in the form of similar tunes! In fact our boss is god for them. Without ARR other MDs will not be around in a big way too...at most originality and creativity will be stumped wih them ripping off from English songs Consider this case of Deva in the early 90s..ARR set the trend for them to follow...after ARR appeared Deva started following Arr's trend in Aasai and became a sought after MD for a while. next is Vidyasagar who scored big with his Kalaignan ,Senkottai, Karna and a couple of Arr inspired mid-eastern post Bombay songs which were common from Vidyasagar in the mid 90sbecame a sought after MD for a while. Next was Karthik/yuvan Raja with Ullasam and other albums like Poovellam ketuppar with Arr inspired mid 90s spanish songs... Well lastly i would say HJ tops them all. HJ i noticed is very obvious. Before we allow this thread to die peacefully, I am convinced that it is indeed the difference between analog and digital mixers. With help of some people I know, we tried some mixing on a digital and analog consoles (grandfather versions of what ARR is using) and there is a perceptual difference in the sound even with similar signal paths. Details are too technical and if anyone is interested send me an email. Anujit [EMAIL PROTECTED] a écrit : Hi all, i really have a serious doubt and would like to ask the viewpoints of the esteemed members of this group. it has been nearly 3 weeks that RDB released but still i find it's songs languishing at the number 5,6 or even worse below 10th spots on a number of countdown shows except bollyvista.com. even worse in one of the radio city or red fm programs i heard RDB is at number 23 spot. i really fail to understand why this kind of discrimination when it comes to the maestro's music. of late it has been found that some unacceptable trash compositions of the likes of himmesh (especially his nasal voice),pritam,anu malik,nadeem shravan get so much importance and are dubbed as absolute chartbusters.what a shame since either the songs are copied or just remixed versions of older songs like bluffmaster. i also fail to understand what does this album lack? it has an absolute heavy duty bhangra number that too in a unique style of rahman,an absolute masterpiece in the form of luka chuppi,a youthful number paathshaala,a lilting melody tu bin bataaye,an inspiritional track khoon chala,a discotheque track khalbali,an awesome compostiton roobaroo..what else can one ask for yaar? and still i find songs like jhalak dikhlaaja of himesh topping the charts which is a heavily sufi inspired track i guess with heavy duty beats...recently this discrimination has been more...but why??just because rahman has chosen to do some off beat movies like bose,swades,meenaxi etc..that's why i feel he has been overlooked in the countdowns..believe me the more 1 song stays at the top the more the film,the song gets popularity and people go on buying it's music..but that is not the case for RDB.. thts why i feel the sales have not yet started booming..imagine a track like "right here right now" staying at the top of the charts and a song like luka chuppi is at the bottom..it really gives me a sad feeling and i pity the listeners and the so called judges of these songs...who choose to avoid these memorable compositions..i know it is a long post but plz do post ur thoughts on it... at the same time i noticed that no song in RDB has an antara mukhra type of composition which no other MD can even dream of composing.. R AKYESH MEHRA, whose Aks met with critical acclaim, is preparing for the release of his next film as director Rang De Basanti. Here the ad filmmaker and feature film director talks about his latest film and future plans. What is Rang De Basanti about? It is the story by the youth, to the youth, for the youth. But this does not mean people from other age groups can't enjoy it. The film has an original screenplay with a very clear and sincere message for the youth. It's about making choices in life. Either you just sit back and do nothing about it or you do things to bring about change. The genre is drama with its share of romance, comedy and tears. I'd say it's a bitter but sweet film. What took you so long between your films? Aks released four years back. It got its share of slaps and acclaim so there was no point in repeating. I'm proud of Aks but wanted to do something dif ferent, hence this film. It's an interesting star cast... Every actor in the film has adif ferent approach to acting. Aamir (Khan) perfectly suits the character he plays in the film; Kunal (Kapoor) is very sincere when it comes to work; Shar man Joshi has a good theatre backg round; Siddharth is a thinking actor and people like Atul Kulkar ni, Waheeda Rehman and Om Puri need no introduction. You even have Aamir Khan singing in the film... We wanted an actor's voice to recite a few lines for the song Lalkar. What better way than to ask Aamir to do it. What are you future projects? I've thought of my two next films Delhi 6 and Panch Kaurav but now I'm focussing only on Rang De. I haven't slept or looked in the mirror for the last year. Rang De Basanti is an interesting recipe that I've tried to make with all the important ingredients. The other stars of the film – including Soha Ali Khan – danced a Bhangra to the beat of Punjabi dholaks. And the top models of India walked the ramp in exclusive Provogue styles inspired by the stars of the UTV-Rakesh Mehra film— Rang De Basanti — to be released on January 20, 2006! There are literally thousands of ways to market a product – and Bollywood is learning them with a spirit of adventure and energy. The recent promo-show of the UTV-Rakesh Mehra film, Rang De Basanti , was an outstanding example of a unique marketing effort. The show will make sure that the film, when released on January 20, 2006, will be an instant and huge hit. The film’s producers teamed up with Provogue, the ‘young fashion’ house that has designed a collection clothes inspired by all the stars in the film including Aamir Khan, to rev up action in the city of Mumbai. Around Christmas time, Provogue, UTV-Rakesh Mehra and Zee TV joined forces to create an event the like of which has not been seen even in glamour-fatigued Mumbai. In the state-of-the-art atrium of Crossroads, the celebrity shopping mall, a catwalk-stage was built to showcase the entire fall winter collection of funky clothes, which Provogue will market in the coming months. Short of funds to make the film, she hires five students of Delhi University led by Aamir Khan who is a DJ, to work for the film. These five students represent today’s youth in India – self-centred and completely materialistic in their attitudes. Patriotism and working for their nation are the farthest among their goals. Each of the characters shows a trend among the youth of India today. But the film shows how working in Sue’s film, they gradually change their own perspective and understand the indomitable spirit of the freedom fighters.” The film is eagerly awaited not only because Aamir Khan is in the news for his recent marriage with Kiran Rao, but also because its music, by A R Rahman, which is already a hit. At the Provogue Promo show, Daler Mehendi sang the theme song and a newcomer – being specially promoted by A R Rahman – sang the famous Pathshala track from the film.
