Thanks all for your feedback. @ PrashantThe song is played on in the key of E.The chords in the key of E are E, F#m, G#m, A, B, C#m and D# (diminished)But only E, A, B and C#m are used in the song (atleast, thats what i play)
Here are the basic chords. But I have used lots of variations like Asus2, Add9, B5, Badd11 and Emaj7(without the 3rd).Basic structure of the song is something like this:| Bar | = 4 beats| E A | E A | E B | A |

Hope this helps. If you need detailed chords then I will post it upon your request. I am not very good with all this music theory stuff ;) ... I just get the chords and play !!! Its purely trial and error :P

Hi neil, Good try man. Your voice is not bad either and it matches 
with ARR's voice. This is my favourite song too and I listen atleast 
2 times a day. My best parts of song is when Rahman sings "Tere 
jharnes se paani ma" (4:15) and again when "Yahan sab kuch hai ma 
phir bhi..." (4:43). It's a magical moment and i like to listen it 
again and again...It's a delight to hear the song from part 4:06 to 
till the end.

ACCLAIMED WRITER KP Saxena has a bigger challenge on hand than he had 
while penning dialogues for Lagaan and Swades. 

This time he has to lace the lines with a generous dose of chaste 
Urdu and Persian of the Mughal era, along with the Rajasthani 
language.

The next project that KP has is to write dialogue for Ashutosh 
Gowarikar's Jodha-Akbar. It will feature Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya 
Rai and would portray the untold story of the romance between emperor 
Akbar and his Rajput wife Jodhabai.

The old man is already on the job and would finish it by month-end.
Says KP: "The film is a landmark in my career. Never before I penned 
dialogue for any historical film. And hence it is a big challenge for 
me. A lot of balancing is required while writing dialogue for this 
historical film because it calls for grafting of court language 
properly blend with Urdu of Mughal era along with lucid Hindi of 
Rajput period."

"Hence it requires more concentration and extra hard work. Also here 
I see an opportunity that this film will also help in proving my 
mastery that I enjoy over Urdu language. Till now people only know me 
as a Hindi writer. But once the film is ready those who know me will 
come to know my command over that language as well," he said.

According to the dialogue writer, failure of some of the historical 
films in the recent time is because of their poor script. Hence the 
writer Ashutosh Gowariker himself visited scores of libraries across 
the country and consulted several teachers of history to ensure the 
realistic flavour of the film, he said.

"I'm visiting Mumbai next month to hand over the dialogues to 
Gowariker. If the need be dilution of the language will be made so 
that even common man understand it," he said. KP says that he too may 
join the crew during shooting to see whether the dialogue penned by 
him is actually gelling well with the film.

This three and an half hour film will be packaged with six songs. AR 
Rahman will weave the lyrics of Javed Akhtar into melodious music. 
Other cast of the film will be finalized shortly and the film is 
expected to go to floor somewhere around August.

The seasoned dialogue writer shower praise for Gowariker for giving 
such realistic touch to the film. "Efforts are on to shoot the film 
at the various forts of Rajasthan, Red Fort in Delhi and other places 
so that people can actually get the feel of historical era," he said. 
KP is confident that this big budget film will do wonders and will 
establish his mettle and command over Urdu and Persian language.

yes now that you have pointed this out, i do see the similarity, i 
listened to these songs after you posted this message. I also think that 
manjal veiyil has a very similar beat to that of O Humdum Suniyo Re from 
saathiya. just listen to overall beat of those two, i dunno i maybe 
wrong.

It is really disappointing when an article such as this include some 
fascintaing details about ARR and at the same time include this whole Bedi's 
story which is very unlikely of ARR sharing in public...I personally dismiss 
this entire article as baseless...just because I trust ARR's integrity in 
not making such matters public..

'Bombay Dreams' features glamour, glitz, real fountain 
Bollywood is a lot like Hollywood was during its glory days, if the musical "Bombay Dreams" can be believed. 
And why not believe, for the lyrics of the show's very first song state "Anything is possible in 'Bombay Dreams' "? 


















The touring show about India's film industry, which opened to a good crowd Friday night in the Von Braun Center Concert Hall Friday night in the Colonial Properties Trust Broadway Series presented by the Broadway Theatre League, was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and has the glamour, glitter, sets, colorful costumes and creative dance numbers one would expect. 

The music by Indian composer A R Rahman provides an authenticity to the sound, though it takes many different directions ranging from traditional Indian sources to pop, rock and even rap. 
Like a thousand Hollywood movies, the ostensible plot centers on a handsome young man, Akaash, and his dreams of finding fame, romance and fortune on the silver screen. 
There have been plays within plays already. "Bombay Dreams" is a movie, a TV show and a Miss India beauty pageant within the stage show the audience is watching. 
And there were lots of attractive young people singing and dancing in exotic costumes. The dances were often erotic, but by no means obscene. 
In one memorable scene, the concept of the wet T-shirt contest is taken a few steps forward with a wet sari scene. A large working fountain was on stage with much of the cast dancing in it and getting thoroughly drenched. The mopping up chores were cleverly worked into the play. 

The scenery designers had a knack for making the mundane or worse look attractive. Even a slum appears inviting, which is hardly the case in reality. 
But this isn't reality, it's the movies, where an aging star, Rani, who is still billed as the "Goddess of Love" calls everyone "dahling." She makes her grand entrance sitting side-saddle on a silver crescent moon lowered from overhead. How else? 

Some social issues lurk in the musical, such as references to India's caste system and the untouchables. In fact, our hero's roots in the slums is a plot element. As a big-shot producer says in the play, "The public will never accept a real slum boy playing a slum boy."

[arr] lucky to be multilingual person down south

Hello friends,  WEll,I am Pavan from chennai...I am s singer and i have learnt classical music for about 6 years...  Basically,My native is Rajahmundry(AP)...so my mother tongue is telugu..But I have been in chennai since my childhood cauze my father is working in chennai...so i learnt tamil too...Sicne that i studied in central school i mastered hindi as well...     Sometimes,I feel very lucky to know telugu,tamil and hindi sicne that i am able to listen to all ARR songs in hindi as well as tamil...Again very mucky to be in chennai since you got the best music composers in TN...with rahman,yuvan and harris...CERTAINLY TAMIL MUSIC IS THE BEST MUSIC IN INDIA !     ARR has got the best compositions in tamil films such as thiruda thiridi,indira,irivar,kannathil lutammital,kandukondain kandukondain,sangamam,love birds,kaadhlan,bombay,roja,vandisoai
 sinnarasu,karuthamma,Mr.romeo,godfather,Ah..ahh,E20U18,tenali,karuthamma,kadhal virus,taj mahal,rhythm,...etc etc etc..much mre to add infact...You got the best of classical from ARR in tamil especially  I feel that rahman should certainly continue with his classical compositions as well...such as the one (ennisai) in godfather     And you got the telugu legend too (M M Kreem-called as M M Keeravani) rocking telugu film industry with his melodies...     Thanks to ARR for giving such wonderful and excellent songs in tamil  Bye friendsPlease send in your feedbacks to [EMAIL PROTECTED]   Long live ARR ...
