Hi,I wasn't just talking about the shahnai. I was saying how rahman 
captured the mood of the situation. In swades when shahrukh khan  
returning to US, Geeta shows him a box which contains all spices (If 
i am not wrong) from India. And after a while the song "Ye jo des 
hai tera" song plays in background when shhrukh is in US (A call to 
return India).
In this song you'll get every Indian element (spices). So obviously 
it captures the diverse culture of india. And I don't think any 
other song has this detailed characteristics of representing India.

'Rabindra Sangeet' are the songs written and composed by Rabindranath Tagore. 'Chhokar Mere Man Ko' is a complete photocopy of ' Tomar Holo Shuru' . There are other Tagore inspirations in Bollywood also. like 'tere mere milan ki ye raina' of Abhiman by S.D.Burman, one song ( i cant remember the lyrics) from Yugpurush *ing Nana Patekar. Yes Blaaze was also in that song.        and on your question of movie being commerically successfull...yes it was...     Remember it was in that year films like Ghilli,Autograph was released.NEW was Adjuged as 4th best movie of the year By rediff..     About the Music,yes it was also success,the hit song being "Kalail Dhinamum" a song on mother and Sakkarai song..        NEW was really a awesome enjoyable movie even though it was Vulgar     It was so Vulgar that there is no chance of it showing in TV and if they will show,they need to censor it,and i am sure if they censor it ,apart from songs ,you will not hear any dialouges,many dialuges were of double meaning.     But it also had some heart touching and

This is an intresting information about our boss :)


Vidhyasagar : On my training: At the age of four I learnt vocal classical music. When I was 
eight-years-old I joined Dhanraj Master. In fact both A. R. Rehman and I had joined on the 
same day. I learnt guitar for 3-4 years there, then the piano. Then I did my seventh grade 
in theory. At the age of eleven, I was a regular musician for many music directors. I could 
play for all languages because then, most films had their recording at Chennai. Today I 
can play about ten instruments.

i got the 'New' cassette 2 months back. i liked the songs very much. i 
had some questions regarding the movie.

1. who sang the song 'New' along with kartik, vijay prakash, sunita 
and tanvi? everything is written in tamil, i could not read the name 
of that person only. when i heard the song i thought it'd be Blaze, 
but i am not sure.

2. was the movie and music commercially successful?

i hope everybody down south would be able to answer my questions.

composed, do you mean lyrics and music both? If you are talking about the 
one and only Rabindranath Tagore, this is very interesting news to me. Never 
knew the great man had any hand in Indian Cinema!

hi avi  Shenai Vaadhan - South India ?? Naa. If Shennai & Tabla combo speaks abt the mangal thing in the North, then it is Naadhasswaram & Thavil are mangal vaadhyam in the South. [arr] Rahman sirs Samples

Hi everyone, I'm one of the biggest fans rahman sir could ever have. I
went to his concert in London wembley arena and found it really
entertaining. At the same time i am also a musician. I also do
composing and etc..

Recently i have been using spectrasonics stylus RMX and have found out
that Harris Jayaraj has used many of them samples in his songs. This
is the same case for Yuvan-Shanker-Raja aswel. However our master arr
does NOT use these samples but creates his own. I have the same
synthesizer as rahman sir. The Yamaha Motif ES7. Many of the sounds
and presets on the synthesizer has been used by arr. For example the
beat in Khalbali, the guitar from Lukki Chuppi and etc.

I have been working for many music companies across the UK and they
all have been pleased with arr's work as i have showed them many of
his tracks. My dreams would be to help arr sir in his work.

I have tried many times when visiting India to go to his house. The
watchman always told me that he went to a foreign country. I am doing
music technology in London and still am waiting for rahman sirs call.

Just thought to share my thoughts with you all, i am tamil but like
all arr's work.

we all know the fact that rahman sir, used advanced tehnology stuff in
his studio and has modern gadgets. even now, am listening gentleman
and the quality and the tech.details r brilliant.
he also said that he connects to people thru this group and knows abt
songs being downloaded.
my question is when he knows all this, why he doesn't have an official
website. when every tom,dick and harry has a website for him r atleast
a blog i strongly feeel that he shud have a website.

Hey! me too man, I start my every day with this instumental version :-
).  I mean, I'm using this mp3 as alarm tune in my sony-eric mobile. 
It keeps me in great mood through out the day. Also it reminds me of 
my great country, India. 
Infact if you anlyse this tune, it represents diverse culture of 
india. i.e shahnai (south india) , Punjabi background vocals, Great 
Indian percussion tabla and authentic indian vocals. 
It's a pity that Swades didn't got the recognition it deserved.

also sung “Kapaleri Poyachu” song along with SPB & ARR (Movie: Indian).

BTW, “Poo
Kodiyin” was sung by Sandhiya and heard she is a relative of Susheela (I
guess, daughter in law)

hi guys
P.suseela didnt sing the song "Poo Kodiyin" she has sung in
"pudhiyamugam"...and that is the only time Suseela has sung for ARR.
"Poo kodiyil" is sung by sandhya .
hope this clarifies the doubt
