interview rahman said that he has agreed to score music for aamir's production. 
It should be Ghajini only I guess.

Just found out something.. the Polling system in their website is not really a 
good one.

I cleared the caches and voted again at least 20 times this morning using 3 
different computers.  and i believe most of the other guys who support other 
movies and music tracks are doing the same.

if u wanna see rdb getting the first position, this is the only way.. use 
Firefox 1.5 or 2, after every vote, click on tool and clear private data - 
check cookies, and clear all the data. you will be able to vote again.. lol, i 
know it is not ethical, but.. since the polling system itself is not 
Cheat-Proof, nothing wrong in cheating.. hehe

Multiple votes are allowed and you DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 2-3 HOURS to vote again. 
This is what you need to do. Get to the voting page. Select Rubaru and click 
the vote button. Keep one finger on the backspace key of your keyboard. Once 
the results page has loaded , just hit the backspace key and you should be back 
to the voting page with the Rubaru selection intact. Just click your mouse on 
the Vote button again and keep repeating this continuously. If every person 
spends even five minutes doing this that's roughly 200+ votes each, assuming 
you ahve a reasonably fast internet connection. Just ensure that you don't

Thanks to Dipak Adhikari, one of the finest budding singer in Pune, I 
got a life-size cutout of Rahmans portrait courtesy Worldspace 
prommotion ad ( from PlanetM - Pune ). I have made a special place in 
my home for this full-size photo. The quality of the printing is really 
good so much so that everyone passing through my house wonders if 
Rahman himself standing in there !

And he has a mischivous smile in that photo, which is really the best 
part

Hi dear friends , can we make a discussion abt music
competition in hindi 2007 (i dont think ARR has any
challenge in TAMIL now). I dont know completely abt
the biggies in hindi 2007. GURU, AKBAR-JODHA,
ROCKSTAR,Subhash ghais untitled movie (iam not sure it
will release in 2007),BHAIRAVI(sometimes it may happen
in next year). Look at other MDs hopful projects.
JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM, TARA RAM PUM, SAANWARIYA, GHAJINI
REMAKE, EKALAVYA, SALAAM-E-ISHQ, SHOLAY REMAKE, OM
SANTHI OM, CHAK DE, AAWARA PAN etc Guys the above
listed movies are my own selection. U can agree or

Check website musicindiaonline.com. In the regional section  look for 
Superpolice in Telugu and the other movie in Tamil section.

You can listen to these songs online on this website. If you have a 
streaming audio recording software ( try jetflash ) then while these 
songs are played, you can copy them in WAV format and later on convert 
them into MP3.

At the same time, look for original cassettes. I think they are still 
available, now mostly in COMBO format ( 2 movies per cassette ). This 
way, it will be acceptable to all.

This isn't about ARR but I'm sure there are quite a number of fans of film 
music in general, in this group. 
It has just been announced that legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone will 
receive the honorary Oscar award this time.

Most people would be familiar with his film scores like The Good The Bad & The 
Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, The 
Untouchables. He's the one responsible for reinventing the genre of music for 
westerns with his innovative orchestration (jew harps, whiplashes, coyote 
howling, bells clanging, men grunting, wordless vocals)... the music in some of 
the Sergio Leone films are a character on their own.
With nearly 500+ film scores he's covered every genre and continues to do (he's 
78 yrs old now) fabulous work even in small TV movies in Italy. 

When he composed his finest work- The Mission, the Academy shockingly gave the 
Oscar to 'Round Midnight. When he did Once Upon A Time In America, the 
producers (it is said) forgot to file in the nominations for the Oscar. When he 
composed an utterly beautiful score for What Dreams May Come, the producers 
rejected it and got someone else. It's a shame that the Academy woke up so late 
into the game and decided to offer some solace in the form of a honorary award. 
But that's Hollywood!

Be it the western themes, or Metallica's opening number (Ecstasy of Gold  from 
Good Bad Ugly), or the opening strains of ARR's Baba theme song (Al Capone 
theme from Untouchables), Sandeep Chowta's Pyar Tune Kya Kiya (Regan's theme 
from Exorcist II) nearly everyone on this group would have heard Morricone in 
some way or the other.

This is really a great year to be a Morricone fan. He will conduct a concert of 
his film music for the first time in US (New York) in Feb 2007. I would urge 
anyone who is around that side to attend.

With three of his songs making it to the Oscars'shortlist, AR Rahman will
turn a year older on a good note.

Although the Oscars eluded Lagaan's music director in 2001, this year AR
Rahman has enough and more reasons to celebrate. To begin with, three of his
songs have made it to the Oscars short list of 56 songs.

Rahman says, "They've short-listed 56 songs, of which three, 'Khalbali'and
'Lukka chuppi'from Rang De Basanti and 'Chan-chan'from Water, are mine. I
was expecting a list of 500-600 songs, I'm quite surprised. I think the way
they look at our films and music abroad has completely changed now. There's
a lot more respect for what we do. They don't think of us as dancing around
trees anymore."

Rahman chose the three songs for the Oscars on his own. He says, "I chose
'Luka chuppi'because of Lataji. She's the pride of the nation.

...I don't know what the outcome would be. I think it's a big honour to be
there. But to get to the last 56 songs is quite an honour. My agent in LA
was sweet enough to take care of all the nitty-gritties."

Come January 6, and the Mozart of Madras, Rahman will turn 41.

Rahman agrees that he's entering the most important decade of his life. "So
far, I've just been busy living life. From my childhood I was surrounded by
grown-ups, I never got a chance to enjoy being a child.

It took me a while to realise how young I was. By the time I realised that
I was missing out on youthful activities I was no longer young. Now I'm
re-living my childhood with three children. If I'm able to give them
everything that I couldn't afford, they too are giving me back something
vital,"he says.

The composer shares his birthday with his son. "My son is going to turn
four on the same day. Yeah, he and I share the same birthday. ...I don't
know how that happened,"he smiles.

And what sense has he made of the 40 years of his life? "My life has always
been a journey. When I was in my 20s I went through the most turbulent time
of my life.

Now I spend as much time as possible with my children Khatija (11), Rahima
(8) and Amin (4). My studio in Chennai is bang opposite my house, so they
spend a lot of time with me. All they've to do is cross the road and they're
with me,"he says.

Out of the blue.. Guess, who contacts me.. the Manager of Karen David. He is 
sending me a CD full
of Karen David's track including the "Shillong Shillong" track. I might get the

Looks like Rahman is on a campaign to emphasize that 
music rights be granted to the musicians themselves. If you might remember, the 
ace musician walked out of Shahrukhs home production when the producers failed 
to arrive at an agreement regarding the music rights of the movie. Rahman 
wanted the rights of the songs and scores of the movie.


  Recently, Rahman has agreed to score music for the animated movie 
Hara, which is produced by Soundarya  Rajinis younger daughter. I have 
obtained rights of my music for Hara. It is indispensable that every music 
director gets hold of the music rights, stated Rahman. I have been emphasizing 
this for quite sometime, he added.

Rahman is not happy that Bollywoodies have shown a deaf ear to his royalty 
request. Not many in the Bollywood understand this concept, reiterated Rahman. 
I consider these rights over everything I gain in my life, declared Rahman.

A R Rahmans's three songs, `Khalbali' and `Lukha Chipi' from `Rang
De Basanti' and `Chan Chan' from `Water' have been shortlisted
amongst top 56 songs of Oscars this year. It's a big honour for the
man and the country. This reclusive genius who works at his own
terms and conditions (he records at night and everyone complies) has
been weaving musical gems for more than fifteen years now. It's
obvious to ask, if he is the best music composer we have…

Having started off with Mani Rathnam's mellifluous `Roja', Rahman
set a new trend in terms of electronic sound and new age music
arrangements. He has always laid a lot of importance on high class
production values, choice of the most melodious singers (he has
given break to many new voices) and has consistently raised his own
bar. His prowess in South film industry is unparalleled. But his
music score in Hindi films like `Bombay', `Rangeela', `Dil
Se', `Lagaan', `Yuva', Saathiya' and `Rang De Basanti' carries a
timeless value. It can withstand the test of time. For each time you
listen to a `Tu Hi Re', `Chaiyaa Chaiyaa', `Rangeela Re',
Mitwa', `Humdum Suniyo Re', `Khuda Hafiz', `Paathshaala' or `Rubaru'
you feel as if you've heard it for the first time. The freshness
quotient in his music carries a tinge of mint.

His last release `Guru' is a mixed bag. But even then, a few of the
songs like `Tere Bin', `Barso Re' and `Jaage Hain' are miles ahead
of any of the other music compositions in the recent times. A
fantastic singer (as is evident in his rendition of `Vande Mataram')
Rahman never went overboard in promoting himself as a singer the way
a few upstart music composers have done in the recent past. Rahman's
live performances are always sold out and he is the highest paid
star while performing abroad (matching the biggest superstars). The
biggest compliment comes his way when any and every music composer
in Bollywood tries to copy him (recent example being Anu Malik in
his music arrangements of `Jaaneman' soundtrack).

Finally, A Rahman is definitely the finest music composer in
Bollywood at the moment. And here record sales are not the criterion
for saying that. Even Altaf Raja can sell a crore copies of `Tum To
There Pardesi'. The criterion is the union of commercial viability
and unmistakable virtuosity as a genius. `Rang De Basanti' is one of
the recent examples from his repertoire where he blends brilliance
of music with exceptional artistic
sensibilities. `Rubaru', `Khalbali', `Lukha Chipi', `Rang De
Basanti' and `Paathshaala' entertain and ignite a passion-for-change
at the same time.

Indiaglitz wishes A R Rahman all the best in his endeavour to bring
more laurels to the country. Hope he brings an Oscar home…
