[arr] Dil Se as a heavy Sufi style soundtrack

2009-09-03 Thread ichord
Well, I'm not expecting another Dil Se and to judge a soundtrack "of that
class, that level" I think is merely a subjective opinion. To me, Delhi 6's
music is of that class, that level, as is Jodha Akbar, Meenaxi, Swades, Lagaan,
Zubeidaa, Alai Payuthey, Kandukonden, Taal, etc. Expect the music of Raavan to
be in the same league.

I think what many people like about Dil Se and what they miss is the incredible
Sufi style dominance of that soundtrack. In recent albums, ARR has created
amazing Sufi songs in isolation within a soundtrack, but the Sufi genre did not
define the soundtrack. In Dil Se, it did. So, when or if ARR creates a Sufi
oriented soundtrack, not just a song or two, I think that's when some people's
thirst is finally going to be quenched.

Re: [ARR] Extended version of Aaj Dil

2009-09-03 Thread ichord
I think this song is brilliant in a different way. What chord progressions
yaar! Kya Baat Hain! On the surface, this sounds like kind of a fun,
frivolous song, masti track which it is to a certain extent, but the chords,
rhtyhm guitar and awesome use of dancing piano notes in a salsa/latin/spanish
style elevate this song tremendously, along with some unique voice modulations.
And it sounds very fresh, even if it somewhat resembles O Bhavre, but to me,
not much.

And it's damn catchy and great to dance to

When's the album coming out?

talking about the similar kind of music, I m talkin about that standard, that
class, that level.

I think the Sonu nigam's part sounds like so similar to Anu malik's way of
composing. But really not A.R.Rahman at all in this song (in hindi part). It
doesn't mean that I dont like it or neight it means that I m not gonna like it.

i doubt the full song is only 3 mins... im sure there is more to this song...
just wait... :)

for me the song sounds typical ARR (Kylie's part). Bhangra part sounds typical
Hindi song, but it sync well with Kylie's part. :)

awaiting the audio eagerly!

This is a massy number that is purposefully meant to be easily digestible and
dance to. I think ARR is allowed to make these songs once in a while, isn't
he? Now, if the whole album were like this, I would have an issue. Let's see!

[arr] Re: Chiggy Wiggy Full Song in Zoom TV

2009-09-03 Thread jahanzebtippu
i had many hopes from the full version but i must say i am very DISAPPOINTED.
it is not boss's standard. it just sounds like any Pritam or VS song. ARR sound
is missing. i just hope Kylie has more part to sing in the complete version.
Sonu's part is weakness of this song and sadly this longer version has him all
the way. such a let down. anyways finger crossed for other songs in album.

ARR Fan Page

Just A Few Posts Done By page Owner

I Once Wrote there .. If This Is Real Rahman Or Some Fan Pretending As ARR
... Then Vijay Bro Told Me This Is ARR's Only Official Page ( Till Then ) ..
As It Runs By His Officials ...

May B They Created It Just Before Oscars ( As U Can See The First Post Is
Done On *January 18,2009 )* But After He Won The Oscars .. Facebook
Authorities Offered The Following Page As The Official One

http://www.facebook.com/arrahman

Just Like arrahman.com Or arrahmanfans.com Isnt It ?

*So I think Both Of Them Is Official ( As Both Of Them Runs By His Officials

2009-09-03 Thread sriramiyer15
AR composes music according to the script. I mean the director doesn't just
tell him to compose 'another one of those romantic tracks'. He'd obviously
brief him about the scene and what's required. It's more like BGM in a way.
Ramu had blogged about how he briefed AR for the 'Hai rama' song and what AR
came up with eventually.

It IS unfair to judge a film soundtrack before the film releases. But again, in
India, we review 'just' the music without caring much about why it sounds the
way it does.

Infact, If I were the producer, I'd prolly release the music AFTER THE MOVIE.

[arr] Re: It's unfair to judge a film soundtrack without keeping the script in mind

2009-09-03 Thread orktane
I don't think so, a soundtrack stands on its own merits - I've not seen 80% of
Rahman's movies yet I love so many of his songs with or without the context.
And think about it, how many of his movies have had senseless scripts/lyrics to
go with great music - does that make you appreciate less of it? How about ada,
great music but there might never be no context to speak off. Yes, a movie's
success/context has bearing on the music's sales/success - but that doesn't
make for great or lousy music.

For me, a song comes down to how it stimulates/provokes my senses/emotions -
not in a clinical manner, but in a very personal way. And if I don't relate to
chiggy-wiggy, despite my eager expectations, I can't help it. In any case, I
don't expect to like every one of Rahman's creation - music is his expression,
but my appreciation is my interpretation. And, despite Rahman's two golden
ladies, he will make both great and lousy music that relates to everyone
differently.

And the point about having opinions without hearing a complete song, well
everyone here does it - otherwise, we would all be stuck going through every
one of anu malik et al's creations (through and through) before pleading our
case - how would you like that? And logically, if we can like a song from a
preview then how can we not dislike another - the concept of liking stems from
the notion of disliking or not liking something as much.

Remember music is art, not science.

Rishi

PS: I love Aaj Dil, for me that's Rahman at his best - free flowing,
experimenting, infusing sounds that just force chemicals in your brain to react.

I really like it too but it sounds like a Vishal Bharadwaj composition. You
will see a similar chord progression in many of Vishal's hits. He tends to use
more of the uncommon chords.

I didn't mean to say its a copy, just a comment on the chords used for this
refreshing song

I saw it on [V], the song to me sounds Pritam-ish. The tune for Kylie's vocals

[arr] It's kind of comical if you think about it......

2009-09-03 Thread ichord
...each time an AR album is about to release, we're all like a pack of wolves
waiting for the prey.drooling, panting, circling... just waiting to
pounceand when the prey arrives (the CDs)...we devour, and devourand
hopefully it tastes great! LOL!

(Don't take this too seriouslyI know there are lots of vegetarians in this
group and this analogy is not meant to be insultingonly to be light. We
all know ARR's music is divine and above and beyond anything gross in this
world).

Count me in man into the Thiruda Thiruda fan club. The Thee Thee number
virtually blew me away. Oh my how can I miss on Konjan Nilavu, and never to

Awesome music by boss. The songs play almost like a anthem in my car stereo.

[arr] “Rahman is someone I really look up to. He is too good" - R&B singer Raghav

2009-09-03 Thread Vithur
R&B singer Raghav now wants to compose for Hindi filmsSeptember 3rd, 2009 -
2:53 pm ICT by IANS [image: Tell a
Friend]-

By Ruchika Kher
New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) He has got several singing offers in Bollywood, but
Britain-based Indian singer Raghav, who made people groove to his songs
“Angel eyes” and “Let’s work it out”, says he is more interested in writing
and composing songs.

“I would like to sing in Bollywood films but on a condition - I will sing
only if I get a chance to write and compose those songs. If they
(filmmakers) will allow me to do that, I’m more than happy to accept the
offers,” Raghav told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

The 27-year-old crossover arist was in India on a four day music tour
organised by entertainment channel VH1.

Raghav, who has returned with his second album “Identity” after four years,
had created a buzz with his debut album “Storyteller” that sold more than
1.3 million copies globally.

Asked what took him so long to release the second album, the singer said:
“There wasn’t a gap from my side because I have been busy touring like crazy
and performing in different parts of the world. Simultaneously, I was
working on my album, so I was never on a break,” he said.

In the new 10-song album, Raghav has incorporated three Hindi songs, “My
Kinda Girl”, which has a few English lyrics, “Humrahee” and “Jadugar”. The
album also has a lot more acoustic this time around.

Has he used Hindi lyrics to reach a wider audience in India?

“It’s not that I added few Hindi numbers to my album to increase my reach in
India. No honest musician can first think about the market and then compose.
It’s just that I felt like making Hindi songs, there was no other reason,”
said Raghav whose trademark style includes hip-hop, R&B, Hindi popular
music, reggae, Indian classic music and soul - all in one.

“Music chose me, I’ve been into music since the age of five. Also, I love to
entertain so I decided to entertain the world with the gift of music,” he
added.

Winner of the the Best Single and Best Newcomer awards at the 2005 UK Asian
Music Awards, Best Chart Act at the 2005 Urban Music Awards and Best Artist
at the 2005 Southern Asian Music Awards, Raghav is a great fan of Indian
music maestro and double academy award winner A.R. Rahman.

“Rahman is someone I really look up to. He is too good. Even though he has

My coworkers asked me today what I am doing on Thursday because they needed
help in a task. I told them I was going out with a friend. They assumed I was
going out on a date with a guy. Then one girl said, "The only guy for her is A
R Rahman." AHHAHAHHAHAHA, Not entirely true but in a sense it's true. I go on
dates with ARR's music all the time.

[arr] Aaj Dil sounds like O Bhavre....

2009-09-03 Thread Sath Murthy
Friends,

Please listen to O Bhavre around 2:10 to 2:20 (Dheewan ki saath hai)...
Starting voice of Sukhwinder in Aaj Dil sounds similar to that part Both
have Sanjay Dutt.. both were shot along or on the beach

Correct me if i am wrong...

Satheesh.

Yupp, Rukhi Sukhi Roti - nayak is a class example that was criticized as
"senseless" before the release of the film and then it fell perfectly
well in the context of the film.

There are many more such "oops, now it makes sense" ARR songs.

When you have a film which is based underwater action, everything that
follows... romance, action,
songsand
dance — will be paani paani mein,

Lara Dutta More
Pics
right? And you will have a housefull of under-water creatures as audience.

For the underwater action thriller, Blue, director Anthony D’Souza shot a
romantic number (composed by none other than AR Rahman), with Sanjay
Duttand
Lara
Dutta . What
really makes this song interesting is that it has been picturised on the
couple playing with wild dolphins in all their majestic glory, in Bimini
Islands. There were also some scenes which required them to shoot at close
range, for which they had specially trained dolphins at the dolphin
encounters! So while the actors were rehearsing for their part, the adorable
Ds’ were also training for their cameo in the film. So cute, na?

Sanju and Lara got along so well with their dolphin buddies that long after
the shot was over, they hung around only to play with the creatures. Well,
we wonder who impressed the lovely Lara more — the dolphins or the deadly
Dutt? Watch this song for the first time exclusively on ZOOM!
