That is real bad. Expected this. voiced about this kinda problem in the group
but got worthy advices...
If there is too much delay.. there r too many crooks to get it out online. same
happened to sivaji before its release.
Hope it does not happen in future. Hope the producers take this kind of cases
into account and make sure to have a official release then and there without
any fancy above the roof stuffs... Lately this is been happening to ARR
composed movies, since they are of so demand.

Satheesh.

Sad and happy new in both ways. Sad that it is getting leaked all over the
place and people are downloading for free. Happy that I got to know that songs
are out and will make no delay in buying them.

But the songs should have released on iTunes or Amazon same day CDs come in the
market. Guys, we all got VTV CD # 1 on amazon, lets all buy legally from iTunes
& put VTV at top of iTunes charts as well =)

iPhone version hasn't been released yet. This leak is probably from some
shop. After all the CDs should reach the shops by today and tomorrow if they
need to start selling on 12th. Some shop owner must have slipped out a CD
early for one of his regular customers and that guy knowingly or unknowingly
shared it on the net.

Re: [arr] WHERE DID THEY GET THESE SONGS

2010-01-10 Thread vinod sagar
I think that this is what happens when they release the audio in London one
month early, but do not care to take into account the huge fan base in india !!

I've always wondered the rationale behind releasing the audio... and what it
means.. when the audio is released it MUST be available to the listeners
without any delay... any delay may cause the listeners to lose interest or even
forget abt it or (as is in this case) download/share the audio from illegal
sources... as far as i go its the producers to blame for not making the audio
available for all..

Take me for instance, being a die hard rahmaniac, its been my principle to buy
only original cds of all Rahman's albums... but the wait for couples retreat
and vtv has been such that I am too tempted to download from the net... if this
is the case with me, then i can imagine what would be going through other
listeners !!

Most probably, its uploaded by folks outside India by purchasing from Amazon
etc. India CD release is a bit late.
Its happens for all high profile releases.
Its verrry tempting but i am gonna hold on for few more days when the CD is out

Re: [arr] WHERE DID THEY GET THESE SONGS

2010-01-10 Thread Gopal Srinivasan
Please get your facts right before launching into a diatribe. The music was
not released in London a month early. Nor have they been released on any
digital distribution medium like Amazon or iTunes. The CDs have to be
dispatched ahead of the release date (the 12th) in order to ensure a
simultaneous release everywhere (without which too, fans would bay for the
label's blood). Unfortunately, the distribution and retail trade in parts of
India, South and South East Asia as well as Tamil-dominated pockets of
Europe don't have the most secure systems and processes in place to prevent
pilfering of CDs.

[arr] A.R. Rahman’s day on BBC

2010-01-10 Thread Bivin Chandra
It’s A.R. Rahman’s day on January 14 when BBC Asian Network dedicates this
whole day of programming to the celebrated composer. The channel will honour
the success of the legend through various programmes including a big interview
show, where the Madras Mozart will discuss his success, his faith, and much
more.

A.R. Rahman first came to the attention of Western audiences with his film
music for Elizabeth: The Golden Age and stage shows Bombay Dreams and The Lord
of the Rings. However, it is Slumdog Millionaire composed by him which received
international acclaim.

Since its release in January 2009, he has won several awards, including two
Oscars, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

[arr] Could I request a favor??

2010-01-10 Thread ichord
When VTV releases, could some kind soul here of Tamil origin translate the
lyrics of these songs to English, so that I might better enjoy the
compositions? I enjoy ARR's Tamil songs anyway for the sheer power of the
music, but having lyrical content in mind would be an added benefit! Thanks in
advance

[arr] Ravan - Raavana (2010) - Ram is right ?

2010-01-10 Thread A.R.Rajib
Ravan - Raavana (2010) - Ram is right ?
Sita to have an affair with Ravan in
Mani Ratnam's Epic Hindi - Telugu
Movie

By cinelover on 09 January 2010

[image: Ravana 2010 Hindi Movie Review]

Pictures from shooting of Ravana - image courtesy
TheBollywoodActress.com

[image: Dalpati
DVD]

Mani Ratnam (born 1956) - the acclaimed Indian film maker from south India -
has dipped into the great Indian epics and come up with great contemporary
stories before. His 1991 Rajnikanth-Mammooty blockbuster *Thalapati* (Tamil)
/ *Dalpati* (Hindi) / *The Commander* (English) [*Buy
DVD*]
had an unmistakable flavor of certain subplots from the Mahabharata -
Rajnikanth's character was a modern day Karna and Mammooty's that of
Duryodhana.

Famous worldwide in the Bollywood and Indian movie lover community, Mani
Ratnam has delivered a string of smart box-office superhits also known for
their great cinematographic qualities - ROJA (1992)
[DVD],
Dil Se (1998) [DVD]
and so on. Mani Ratnam has frequently worked with the now suddenly famous A
R Rahman in many of his movies. In fact, Roja was one of the movies that put
the name Allah Rakha Rahman in media and cinema prominence early on in his
career.

It should not, therefore, come as a big surprise that a couple of years ago
Mani Ratnam started a film project about adapting sections of the Ramayana
into a contemporary movie. The movie was envisioned on a grand scale -
written by Mani Ratnam and *Rensil D’Silva*, to be made in two languages
(Hindi and Tamil), with largely different casts, a lot of action, special
effects and music, as expected, by A R Rahman, who now is reportedly equated
to an Indian version of Mozart.

Mani Ratnam's 2010 epic is titled *RAVAN* in Hindi and *RAAVANA* in Tamil.

RAVAN (the Hindi movie) has a star cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Vikram, Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi, Suhasini,
Priyamani, Ravi Kishan, Nikhil Dwivedi and more. Suhasini is Mani Ratnam's
wife. Ravi Kishan is a celebrated Bhojpuri cinema hero who sometimes appears
in Bollywood movies and TV serials.

According to rumors, in Mani Ratnam's adaptation, Vikram is husband of
Aishwarya. Vikram had in the past once shown indiscretion (to put it mildly)
towards a girl, and the girl had been unable to withstand the torment and
killed herself. Abhishek is the brother of this dead girl, and in search of
revenge, kidnaps Aishwarya to get back at Vikram. Things take a romantic
turn when the kidnapper and kidnapee fall in love. Bipasha Basu plays
Ravan's wife Mandodari (the daughter of Maya).

The shooting for Ravan was completed towards the last quarter of 2009. An
important part of the finale of the movie is actually shot in the
controversial Vedic Village in the suburbs of Calcutta.

2010-01-10 Thread Madhu.Sudhan d
I agree with you Vithur, but i think everyone in in this group will buy
atleast one cd. last night i felt very bad when my friend called me to tell
that he has all the songs downloaded ! by this afternoon everybody whom i
know in Bangalore have downloaded them, same thing happened to Sivaji, one
of the torrent site reads that 1445 downloads complete !

All i can think about now is that the distribution system should be given to
some of our members, they can ensure that the cd's are not pirated for sure.

I pray to God that this should not bring down the sales drastically.

Big fans ... Actors rehearse a scene in The Arrival before their performance
at the Sydney Festival. Pic: Tom Hancock *Source:*The Sunday Telegraph

*THE Oscar-wining composer of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, A. R.
Rahman will arrive in Sydney this week to perform a free concert as a
statement of peace between his home country, India, and Australia.*

Rahman, from Chennai, said "it is a great feeling" to be performing in
Australia and it presents the perfect opportunity to bridge gaps and bring
generations together.

India's pop icon, who brought contemporary Indian music to the world through
Slumdog Millionaire, will perform in Parramatta Park on January 16 as part
of the Sydney Festival.

Festival First Night was a huge success last night; hubs of the Sydney CBD
came alive with around 250,000 revellers enjoying the free events.

Over the next three weeks, Sydney will become the stage for many
international film actors including The Shawshank Redemption's Tim Robbins,
who is performing alongside ARIA-winner Sarah Blasko and Little Birdy's Katy
Steele in Rogues Gallery.

Red Leap Theatre directors Kate Parker and Julie Nolan said they were
inspired to bring the graphics of the book to life on the stage.Another
event expected to be a hit is a physical theatre production based on
Australian author Shaun Tan's award-winning picture book The Arrival. During
the play, actors will become parts of the set, then shift back into
character in what the directors hope to be an extraordinary manipulation of
images.

"It's a very physical performance," Ms Parker said. "Our actors need to be
very physically fit and in tune with one another."

Concerts in The Domain will continue throughout the course of the Festival,
including Symphony In The Domain on January 23 and Opera In The Domain
starring Good News Week's Paul McDermott on January 30.

Embracing Asian and South Pacific cultures is one of the key aims of the
Festival agenda,, with Indian music and performance making up a large part
of the content.

Rahman said he is excited to bring Bollywood performance to an Australian
audience."You come here (to Australia) and see a whole new generation," he
said. "It's challenging to rediscover and learn to cater to a younger
audience. I don't think it existed before."

Rahman, 44, has achieved sales of more than 300 million for his film scores
and soundtracks, making him one of the best-selling recording artists in the
world.

As well as winning two Academy Awards for composing the Slumdog Millionaire
soundtrack, Rahman has won 13 Filmfare Awards, four National Film Awards, a
BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe.

His outdoor spectacular will showcase his work over the past 18 years,
including popular hit Jai Ho.

The stage will come alive with an entourage of more than 40 musicians and
Bollywood dancers.

The Manganiyar Seduction, a troop of 43 Rajasthan musicians, performed a
dazzling theatrical music performance at Festival First Night last night and
have more shows lined up this week.

Crowds also turned out to see legendary Al Green perform a selection of his
soul classics at a free concert in The Domain, Hyde Park became a spice
garden with live Indian music and performances, and Martin Place morphed
into a night-long soul-and-swing session.

Further information including dates for upcoming events can be found at the
Sydney Festival website www.sydneyfestival.org.au

[arr] Ur suggestions to control piracy!!

2010-01-10 Thread mohammed sajin
Did u ever noticed?

In the west, for an extend they effectively controlled the piracy.

What they are actually doing to control piracy.
Why shouldn't we try their techniques/methods.

My suggestions:

* Don't give domain name loosely/liberally to anyone with out proper
ID. Before providing domain name, the authority should collect the proper
identity.
* Strictly ban/block such sites.
* Spread awareness to the peoples effectively.

Additionally, i think we are one of the very powerful and active community

RE: [arr] Tempting...but i am not gonna download VTV.Only CD plz.

2010-01-10 Thread wiredbeats .

Yes man. But this happens to all releases all the time ( as in post release
piracy). We can only buy the disc and make it a habit, but buying the disc
should be in spirit as well, not a formality.

The business model as such will be adjusted to rake profits, factoring in sales
dilution through piracy.

The fun of playing a CD for the first time is totally different than buying it
for the sake of it after playing a pirated Mp3 in loop.

Also, its good that some of us are feeling bad about this 'leak'. This is a
very positive change, don't ya think?

BTW : I heard theres a cool track with a very Pink Floyd sound.. aroromale or
something. True? Hows it. I won't download it

I agree with you Vithur, but i think everyone in in this group will buy
atleast one cd. last night i felt very bad when my friend called me to tell
that he has all the songs downloaded ! by this afternoon everybody whom i know
in Bangalore have downloaded them, same thing happened to Sivaji, one of the
torrent site reads that 1445 downloads complete !

All i can think about now is that the distribution system should be given to
some of our members, they can ensure that the cd's are not pirated for sure.

I pray to God that this should not bring down the sales drastically.

2010-01-10 Thread juliencristobal
I agree that we MUST wait until Tuesday for the official release and get VTV
original CD in our hands.
However, I am wondering why the music company and/or Gautham Menon waited soo
long between the music launch and the CDs release! If the CDs and cassettes
were ready at that time why not flooding the market? They wanted to create a
buzz around it using A.R.Rahman fame, and the result is as expected shocking!
Anyway Piracy or not, if the music is as good as expected the sales will be
good!

[arr] Sivaji (hindi) comments...

2010-01-10 Thread mb4zap®
hi all,

i dont see any comments on Sivaji (hindi) release...!

i just got hold of the CD today and i personally find it a vintage rahman album
in true sense! i mean, back in early/mid 90's some rahman albums (dubbed) used
to sound so confusing at first and lyrics used to b a bit out of norm (and
sometimes odd too..!). yet sheer brilliance of rahman, they slowly turned out
to be true masterpieces. it's the same here in this album, while i still can't
digest a few tracks to be frank; but i'm fascinated with tracks like Suhana
Sama (both version), Aandhi Ki Tarha (any song sung by rahman always tops my
playback count :D) and Suraj Hai (for its rustic feel) so far

and the CD sound quality is exceptionally good (compared to other releases)
too. i infact find it one of very few rahman albums that has got so crisp and
well balanced sound all through. wat you say...?

i understand may b most of you already had the tamil release, yet put out some
comments/analysis on the hindi release for new listeners too.. :)

Re: [arr] Ur suggestions to control piracy!!

2010-01-10 Thread A.R.Rajib
I believe in freedom of Internet ( I wouldnt like to be in China or KSA for
this reason )... It's us who need to be changed
At first , Audio CDs price should be lesser , In Bangladesh we buy a
Original Audio CD for 50Taka ( abt 30 Rs ) ... I think this is an affordable
price , I bought abt 10 CD - DVDs from Kolkata for 1000 Rs ( abt 1800 taka
), to me this is way too expensive . Bombay Dreams Audio Cd's Price was
400Rs :s

If u lower the price ...More people will buy the Original CDs for sure

And this CD's productions should be done in a Piracy-Proof Way , Which is
almost impossible ... Actually .. Pirates are more high-tech people than
these CD makers ... They can crack almost anything ...From softwares to
games , DVDs ..U name it ... Time to be more high-tech If u want to Stop
Piracy

Distribution is also very important ... If m crazy abt listening a ARR Album
and m not getting in my near shops .. I dont have any choice to go for
piracy ...For so many reasons Online Shopping isnt preferable to me .. :-)

Did u ever noticed?

In the west, for an extend they effectively controlled the piracy.

What they are actually doing to control piracy.
Why shouldn't we try their techniques/methods.

My suggestions:

   - Don't give domain name loosely/liberally to anyone with out proper ID.
Before providing domain name, the authority should collect the proper
   identity.
   - Strictly ban/block such sites.
   - Spread awareness to the peoples effectively.

Anyway Piracy or not, if the music is as good as expected the sales will be
good!

Re: [arr] Tempting...but i am not gonna download VTV.....only CD plz.

2010-01-10 Thread vinu thiagu
yes..definitly...eventhough people download vtv songs, we cannot go and teach
everyone not to download, for some people its uncontrollable desire and for some
people its moneyits sad that we are not looking the basic thing in this
matter...the only thing to be done is to stop piracy in all levels...other than
that we cant stop piracy even as a group..practically speaking, this should be
done by the concerned parties in higher level.i dont mean to be negative..but
see, only some people are totally aware of this and the people who read our
group mails are so much aware..other than that..nobody cares..this is reality
and we have to accept that..eventhough most of the people here speaking about
piracy are downloading other musicians albums(i dont blame or offend
anyone..just speaking)...does anybody cares about that..no..definitly a big
NO..also Goutham did a big mistake by doing some irregular things and taking
even too much time to release the
songs...plz check out the old mails, how much late its getting to release..so
the only thing we can desire and pray is ,This should not impact the music
sales...suppose if this post makes no sense to you, never mind

I agree with you Vithur, but i think everyone in in this group will buy atleast
one cd. last night i felt very bad when my friend called me to tell that he has
all the songs downloaded ! by this afternoon everybody whom i know in
Bangalore have downloaded them, same thing happened to Sivaji, one of the
torrent site reads that 1445 downloads complete !

All i can think about now is that the distribution system should be given to
some of our members, they can ensure that the cd's are not pirated for sure.

I pray to God that this should not bring down the sales drastically.

Re: [arr] WHERE DID THEY GET THESE SONGS

2010-01-10 Thread vinod sagar
I disagree Gopal.. follow these link (one among a lot)

http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/52773.html

http://www.businessofcinema.com/news.php?newsid=14960

the audio of vtv was launched in london last month, december (20th Dec to be
precise)...

we are in jan 2010 (pls do not go the extent of calculating days and argue that
its not been 30/31 days to confirm as one whole month) ... still no sight of
the audio cds !!!

I will always be a die-hard rahmaniac but given the in-sensitiveness of
producers i'd rather expect rahman's albums be released on his own KM label,
than the commercial mindset of the producers, and i mean it !!

When a movie is released WORLDWIDE, it means that all the theatres worldwide
start to show the movie in the theater from that day onwards, isn't it and
they do this after making sure that the copies of the movie are available in
all the theatres. Latest example being AVATAR (Only an example), it doesn't
mean when the home dvd's are available for general public !!!

again, if the produers are not sure about the security of the songs, then why
go ahead and release them in an alien country than the native country ?? VTV is
a tamil album and it must be available first in a tamil-dominated area than in
london !!!

I have nothing against Rahman, he's a living legend, but against the promoters,
producers, music companies (or whatever u call them)

Please get your facts right before launching into a diatribe. The music
was not released in London a month early. Nor have they been released on any
digital distribution medium like Amazon or iTunes. The CDs have to be
dispatched ahead of the release date (the 12th) in order to ensure a
simultaneous release everywhere (without which too, fans would bay for the
label's blood). Unfortunately, the distribution and retail trade in parts of
India, South and South East Asia as well as Tamil-dominated pockets of Europe
don't have the most secure systems and processes in place to prevent pilfering
of CDs.

I think that this is what happens when they release the audio in London

I've always wondered the rationale behind releasing the audio... and what it
means.. when the audio is released it MUST be available to the listeners
without any delay... any delay may cause the listeners to lose interest or even
forget abt it or (as is in this case) download/share the audio from illegal
sources... as far as i go its the producers to blame for not making the audio
available for all..

Take me for instance, being a die hard rahmaniac, its been my principle to buy
only original cds of all Rahman's albums... but the wait for couples retreat
and vtv has been such that I am too tempted to download from the net... if this
is the case with me,
then i can imagine what would be going through other listeners !!

I was going to post about this, so I'm glad you did too. I loved some songs of
Tamil Sivaji and now the same for Hindi. What a nice variety on this album and
my favorites are Sahara Suhana (both fast and slow.simply mindblowing
arrangements and melody), Wahji Wahji, and the Bale song..awesome singing
by Javed ALi!!!

I hope this album is at least somewhat recognized and popular up North. AR is

I see your point, Vinod and I understand your feelings of frustration, but as
Gopal says, "release" and "launch" are 2 different things and rarely coincide
together. Yes, the time gap between the 2 is quite long this time around,
making it harder to wait for such a landmark album, but there are some things
that just won't change, I guess! In the end, the album does get released, we
relish it, and move on. Come Tuesday, all your frustrations, anxiety, etc.
will melt away as the magic of AR's notes drown you. This album, I think, will
be worth all the wait and frustration.

Re: [arr] WHERE DID THEY GET THESE SONGS

2010-01-10 Thread Pradeepan
Vinod , sorry, You are missing the whole point.

Audio Launch is NOT Audio Release.
Music launch happened in London. It is similar to unveiling the World Cup,
doesn't mean the final has been finished.

Please get the facts right, especially before refuting authentic sources.

People who are doing this , by illegally circulating this should be punished.
God will punish them,

i just did the same and hoping to see couple of sources taken down.

Additionally, i think we are one of the very powerful and active community
around and am very sure if we follow this practice, it will be of great help
for the people in the music industry especially the musicians.

Personally i'd prefer to pin this piracy down before we land on to Endhiran and
Raavan - if not immediately !

Thanks to all the fans

Re: [arr] Re: VTV Songs on the Net

2010-01-10 Thread Kalimuthu
IMO, releasing in YouTube is okay compared to releasing the MP3 outright.
Because, 99% of the times, one does not download the YT content and keep it
as the primary source of media.

So, one way, it does promote the song or video. I'd say it's one of the
safest options to let people try out the content.
