[arr] Three weeks for VTV to sink in
Sighh. Finally VTV has got into me, it has got into my blood, sleep, dream, breathe everything. The first time I heard it, I was like WTH is this, but I have always liked ARR stuff that I hate initially as I tend to love it later on. I just dont go on listening to it if I dont like, here is what I do. 1) Listen initially for a couple of times, since most of the stuff is so new, especially the structuring nothing comes to my lips. 2) Stop listening for a few days and then unknowingly I will start humming something from the album. 3) So I go back to CD and listen again. At this point something registers in mind and I start humming a few bits and pieces again. thats it, I just repeat the step1 to step3 and it gets into me full time. Love ARR Raghu

Just checked mail and was highly surprised with the kind of reactions my post got. I JUST WROTE WHAT I FELT, AND THAT'S IT. but may be I had forgotten that I don't have that luxury of honestly expressing what I felt. now that Vijay has tried to put an end to it I would avoid to extend it. however still I feel that this group is becoming a bunch of fanboys and yes men, who only want to see all praises all the time. I feel really sorry for that and sorry for ARR too because more than any good this attitude can do bad to him, as such blind fans who discourage any type of healthy criticism can cause fall of any artist no matter how big he/she is. I also wonder why I have to constantly remind that I am as much a loyal and big fan of him as everyone else here is, or may be more. but that certainly doesn't mean that I lie and be a yes man. Somnath Chatterjee and AR Rahman are likely to be given the Padma Vibhushan and Paes the Padma Bhushan. The list of awardees might be announced on Monday. According to sources, writer Mahasweta Devi, veteran cinematographer Nemai Ghosh and painter Shuvaprasanna are also being considered for the honours. This is not the first time the UPA government is planning to bestow the award on Chatterjee. It wanted to do so last year itself, but Chatterjee declined saying it would not be appropriate for him to receive an award from the executive as long as he was Lok Sabha speaker. The honour will be another feather in the cap of AR Rahman, who won two Oscars last year for best original music score and best song in *Slumdog Millionaire*. The other possible Padma awardee is US-based controversial hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal. He is among the movers and shakers of the NRI community in the US and has powerful connections in the Democratic Party. He is extremely close to the Clintons. Chatwal was, in fact, one of Hillary Clinton’s primary fundraisers during her presidential bid. He also played an active role in drumming up support for the Indo-US nuclear deal. Chatwal has powerful political connections in the country and was instrumental in persuading Bill Clinton to travel to Lucknow and attend a private lunch hosted by a UP-based industrialist considered close to Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh. Leander Paes has been the country’s top tennis player for over a decade. He won the bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and has won doubles titles at Wimbledon, Australian Open and the US Open. He was given the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1996. -- www.berginroy.com -- New Windows 7: Simplify what you do everyday. Find the right PC for you.http://windows.microsoft.com/shop

More details are awaited; till then, let's just wait and watch. *Raavan,* said to be the modern adaptation of the epic Ramayana, revolves around Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, who kidnapped Sita. The story culminates with Sita taking the side of Ravana instead of Rama, who suspects her chastity after having spent so much time in Ravana’s custody. Vikram plays the villain. [arr] Recaptured by a song.......much more the seond time!
Another one of my rambling, mundane sermons :-). While I'm busy enjoying the music of VTV and a few other non Rahman soundtracks of late, the song, Bhoola Tujhe from Blue has resurrected itself in my playlist with great poise and salience. When Blue first released, I liked the song and listened to it, but for a few months until recently, took a break from it. I put this song in one of my compilation playlists recently and heard it after a long time.it totally captured me by surprise. I was very surprised by how that song hit me in a different way this time around after a break, triggering a flood of positive emotions and just being tranced by it..something I did not expect. The song has got such a beautiful intro with the strings and opera, then gradually melts into this acoustic guitar based ballad under the horns backdrop and Rashid Ali's fine singing. There's some really nice electric guitar layering in the second refrain and the song ends very gracefully with the female choir and lush strings. The whole song just flows so beautifully and gracefully with great lilt and sincerity. There is nothing too musically fancy about the songmelody is straight forward, arrangements are not too flashy, rhythm is steady, but still.it's very heartfelt. Sound quality issues aside, which I know are present, this song to me is one of AR's most impressive ballads of late. I know there are differing opinions of this song, many having called it bland and uninteresting, but I wonder if others have felt similarly about this song like I have. If not, that's ok.I don't mind being alone with my thoughts and feelings about this.
[arr] Dream on on Kalignar TV
Airing now with a performance of Chinna China Aasai and Vande mataram Thanks to Pavan
[arr] ARR and IR's press meet after the announcement of PB awards
When ARR was asked about his opinion on the awards to him and IR. He said that he is so happy. We are all one family and feels doubly delighted. 'இளையராஜாவும் நானும் ஒரே குடும்பம்தான். அவருக்கும் எனக்கும் ஒரே சமயத்தில் 'பத்மபூஷண்' விருது கிடைத்திருப்பது, இரட்டிப்பு சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கிறது' என்று ஏ.ஆர்.ரகுமான் கூறினார். When IR was asked about his opinion on the award to ARR, He said that this question should be asked to ARR. ரஹ்மானுக்கும் பத்மபூஷண் விருது தந்திருக்கிறார்களே... இது அவரிடம் கேட்க வேண்டிய கேள்வி. That's the difference between ARR and IR. Thanks Satheesh.

[arr] That's ARR and This is Ilayaraja
When reports are asked about how they feel about each others... Ilayaraja - “Why should I feel anything for him? That’s something you should ask him. I feel only for myself. Rahman - “I’ m overwhelmed that I have received the honour at the same time that Raja sir has got it. It is a great personal statement for me . He has played for my father Sekhar and I have played under Raja sir. It is a family thing for me.” Soruce: http://sify.com/movies/tamil/fullstory.php?id=14928886 Regards, Vasanth TT http://www.google.com/profiles/vasanth.tt Stephen Leacockhttp://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/s/stephen_leacock.html - I detest life-insurance agents: they always argue that I shall some day die, which is not so.

It hurts me when anything is said about such a brilliant human being that shows him in lighter vain. Thanks Satheesh. -- Rawat
